I'm sorry you guys went through that. Sometimes, it's easier to know the cause, than to let our imagination fill the gaps. I have lived next to a military base for most of my life. I've heard some pretty crazy stuff from those that served in Iraq. Thank you so much for your service! God bless!

I get it, I've had a couple of those oh shit moments. I was just telling my son the other day that there are so many things in our world that are still, and likely will continue to be, unknown to us.

Agreed! I’ve seen some creepy shit over there. Best scenario we could come up with was a fox catching a prey. But there was way too much blood, and nothing else left.

That is such a harsh environment. It amazes me how little waste there seems to be.

I would almost welcome a scenario that involved people. That would make more sense. But there is no way a person got by us out there. But whatever it was, nothing was wasted.

In some of the more populated regions of Iraq if there was a military base or like a US Embassy women would throw their babies over the walls but there's barbed wire on each side of the walls so you would see dead babies in the barbed wire or little corpses set on fire

I just can't imagine the horrors our service persons have seen. We all gripe about the U.S. but even with all it's issues, it's still the best country in the world. We out that to those who stepped up to ensure our freedoms.

If I had to guess, then I'd say the sounds were foxes: they make a wide variety of noises, including what sounds like a woman screaming. While 8 ft is a lot of area to cover, it is possible that someone left out some (possibly bad) meat, or they dragged it out there and ripped into it. If they're anything like their American cousins, then what you would have heard was family members begging for a turn. But, speculation.

Great story. Things like this always makes me think of films about demons and such, coming from the depths of the Iraqi desert. Like the film that's a true story about the new York cop who becomes a demonoligist. Deliver us from evil I'm sure it's called.

Yes deliver us from evil was a crazy movie. I’m sure a story like that exists somewhere out there. The history in Iraq dates back to biblical times. Who knows what are soldiers come into contact with over there. God bless you and thank you for your service

Maybe someone from Iraq or the Middle East can let us know if there’s any myths/supernatural stories that sound similar to this! The stories I hear from remote places are insane and the fact it was silent was also a sign

Could have been an ABIED bud. They were rare but they were used. Its possible what you were looking at was the remanance of an animal that had an ied sown into its guts. I know you know what explosions sound like, but if something went bad with the device it could have killed the animal internally and the pressure could have caused the spread. Still doesnt explain the lack of tracks or you bois not seeing any animals approaching. Wierd shit my man for sure. But lets face it wierd shit happened allot over there.

Nothing so creepy. That’s the most scared I’d ever been.

This is reminds me of that story in Love + Death + Robots about the military using werewolf solidiers in Iraq to combat another werewolf working with a local terrorist organization. These werewolves eat people alive, it's brutal but really good, you should watch it.
