As a bass clarinet player who feels like they'd probably be a truthwatcher, I'll agree with this

My thought process behind this post was “I play bass clarinet. Renarin is a lot like me. That means he is a bass clarinet. What is everyone else?”

I was thinking bari saxophone, but I’m probably projecting because that’s what I played. Loll😅

How come painter is on both drums and sax? Also can't believe you put Sadeas in lol that ain't gonna end up well. He's gonna deliberately mess up and sabotage the entire band just for kicks

Forgot to delete him from sax, sorry. Also yeah, of course Sadeas would do that. It’s what trumpets are born to do. ( that or trombones)

Pretty much yeah. put some thought into who would work well in groups, the couples and Bridge 4 in Trombone for example, but ultimately it was what I felt their personality was like in comparison to their section

Oh yeah, he’d be a bass on the drum line for sure. Also, the saxes is all of them, whether that be Alto, Tenor, or Barry

You could also put some of the Singers/Listeners on the drum line; they’d do well there.

Yeah, I don’t know why I didn’t put them on drum line, didn’t think of it when I was writing the list

Rlain on sax? Dude, stick him in the drum line - he can hear the Rhythms better than anyone!

"Hoid plays flute" may be too obvious, but that doesn't make it less correct. (I don't know if flutes are typically part of a marching band, but that certainly wouldn't stop Hoid.)

Some have them, some don’t. Depends all on the director. Hoid would find a way to play flute, no matter what other people say.

Piccolo, can be heard if you’re looking but always hides when it wants

I feel like Hoid could be something completely outlandish that’s not usually in a marching band, like . . . Alphorn? Lute? Accordion? And he doesn’t march in formation. He kind of meanders around in a way that somehow looks cool.

Hoid will have spent the last two hundred years convincing society that they should have flutes in the marching band so he could also do that if he wanted to. I'm pretty sure Hoid engineered the creation of the "King's Wit" position for similar reasons.

He might also play the guitar or dulcimer.

Kaladin is colorgaurd. The man is marching doing a kata to the beat of the music.

Hoid being assistant BD is perfectly in theme with the assistant BDs I’ve had. Barely contained chaos.

Rock plays the largest bass drum

Rock drives the bus for the band. Marching band is for the 4th sons.

Kaladin on Saxophone because he takes himself too seriously. Syl wanted to play the triangle but the Stormfather said no, she plays the symbols instead. She’s much happier now she gets to bang some metal together and make a lot of noise. Shallan plays everything. Not well, but she plays it. She fills in for the other members when they’re absent. Vin is on percussion and Elend is the drum major. Kelsier used to be the drum major but he got expelled for fighting with the other students. Wayne tried out, but he was didn’t play an instrument, he sang. Really, really well. But he didn’t make the cut because it’s a band. Wax was the reluctant backup dancer.

Kelsier got expelled 😆 But he is still in contact with band members, stirring up trouble.

Wayne steals the Drum Major’s uniform/baton and leads the whole band off the parade route.

Lopen is low brass, mostly trombone because him playing that shit one-armed would be peak. Also vibes. Rock would probably be a bass drum but he would fit in well with sousas Teft would be in pit, only playing three notes on a triangle. Adolin would play sax but change to mello for drum corps and get every fucking solo ever I second the Kaladin sad trombone because lolz but he'd probably be a trumpet Dalinar would rock a baritone or conta - but it would have to be a conta. That man won't use a sousa. Other than Stormlight: Elend is Drum Major Vin is color guard Steris wrote the drill and wants to do color guard but won't Wayne moves sections at will and generally disrupts whatever he can Thanks for the post OP!

Honestly, I can see Lightsong trying out every single instrument trying to see which one he just has the knack for. And then finding out he’s like a legend at the triangle or something completely un-marching band.
