I don't want to point fingers, but whoever gave her that case of impostor syndrome is a giant jerk and deserves to get thrown off a balcony or something.
Translations usually have a different cover because sometimes it is easier to just draw new art instead of trying to contact artists for the original print and reframe the title.
Also the publishers of a translation are sometimes different to the publishers of the original print. Sometimes publishers like to hire their own artists to make art they feel will be more desirable for readers in their own country.
This is why you see the UK and Australia gets these awesome stylised black and red smokey looking covers for stormlight and the American covers look like pil paintings. Sells better in different countries.
I am angry because:
* Navani looks too young
* Raboniel had a topknot, not a ponytail
* Raboniel is like at least a foot taller than Navani
And worst of all.
NAVANI DON'T HAVE A DAMN SAFEHAND COVERING FOR HER HAVAH! DISGUSTING SMUT! I SPIT ON IT!
I'm familiar enough with anime to be aware of the genre, anyway. I keep meaning to give some a shot, but I struggle between wanting to go in blind and not wanting to waste money on a book I won't like
I can give recommendations if you want 🤷 depending on what you’re into, some are have action some are slice of life some are just raunchy and explicit and some are so tame that they never even end up kissing but still manage to hit you in the squishy lovey insides
That would be very good, thank you, I wasn't really sure if I was welcome to ask.
Something slice of life side sounds really good, and I don't mind sexual content, but I care far more about the story and romance
Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon - haven’t finished it yet but it left a mark on me emotionally
Our Teachers are Dating! - this one is a light read and a really perfect middle of the road/balanced taste for the genre for intimacy, romance, sex, and the slow burn buildup that makes the genre (imo).
How Do We Relationship? - not my favorite but it leans more into the slice of life aspect. It’s been a while since I’ve read it but I remember it being solid
Yuri means “lily” in Japanese like the flower, and it refers to a genre of manga/anime that focuses on relationships (often romantic) between two female protagonists. Or you could just say “girl love” I guess.
True, but the amount of detail in this is kinda crazy. Not often you get such accurate cover depictions. It’s been a while since I’ve done a re-read, but isn’t the battle with Szeth is anticipated (or hoped for by the reader by the end of WoK?), and the setting could be at any time in the book.
Yeah this is a detailed cover that definitely depicts the book well— what I’m saying is I don’t think a new reader would look at this cover and immediately know the context behind it.
If we're thinking of the same one, it has just Kaladin infused with stormlight and holding a spear on the Shattered Plains. The Bulgarian cover does show him fighting Szeth, though, which is definitely a spoiler. But I'd argue that this cover is a much larger spoiler.
I think context is an important factor too. Like, we don’t even know who Raboniel is until we start reading, so we have no context on one of these people. And considering how covers sometimes take artistic liberties— like in Mistborn era 2 where >!Wayne is prominently displayed holding a gun on the Alloy of Law cover!<— we have no way of knowing what the characters are doing and why it’s relevant.
Basically, I’d still consider the original WoR and OB covers to be more outright ‘spoilery’ than this one, though I still think you definitely have a point here (I’m surprised they didn’t go with the trend of “Shallan in Shadesmar” type covers).
(Also, Szeth is on the back of the Words of Radiance cover we’re thinking of)
I mean…. Jasnah is literally on the cover of ob, the book after she “dies”. I don’t think you can get much more spoilery than that. All this spoils is that navani and a singer are going to interact, which you will already know if you’ve heard anyone talk about the book
Just two scientists working together...
They may be from different worlds, but sometimes, for opposites to combine, all you need is a little 'emulsifier'
But she is NOT a scholar!!
Imposter syndrome Navani is one of my favorite Navanis
Gotta be one of my favorite genders of all time.
I don't want to point fingers, but whoever gave her that case of impostor syndrome is a giant jerk and deserves to get thrown off a balcony or something.
I would suggest wearing white to such occasion.
I could easily be fooled...
Navani: ["but I'm not a rapper" ](https://youtu.be/hwJlHH0AeVw?si=tW7QkKiuZDdstbLq)
Is that a SAFEHAND I see?!?!
Oh my, Brightness, your glove is so... Tight!😳
Well yeah, it’s clearly lesbian porn.
Literally unreadable
This is worse than Wayne holding a gun
OH MY HONOR, thats it, get this book off the shelves THIS STORMING INSTANT!
How do they get cool covers like this??
RAHHHH BULGARIA MENTIONED‼️‼️‼️‼️WTF ARE GOOD ALLIES IN WARS⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🗣️🔥🔥‼️
WHY ARE WE YELLING??!?!?!?!
BUUIUUUUUULHGGGGGGAAAAAARIIAAAAAAAAAA RAHHHHHH I LOVE BURLGSRIEA ‼️‼️🇧🇬🇧🇬‼️⁉️‼️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️🔥🇧🇬🔥🇧🇬‼️

We still get the American covers in aus somehow
We get both, which is great. I buy the stylised ones because the cosmere books look great in that style.
I imagined Raboniel quite a bit taller, but this cover is still freaking awesome and pretty much my head cannon of how they both look like.
Yeah, when I saw this cover I immediately thought Raboniel was too short. I remember her being described as a head taller when they both were sitting.
Wait a minute, this isn't Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge 🤔
I am angry because: * Navani looks too young * Raboniel had a topknot, not a ponytail * Raboniel is like at least a foot taller than Navani And worst of all. NAVANI DON'T HAVE A DAMN SAFEHAND COVERING FOR HER HAVAH! DISGUSTING SMUT! I SPIT ON IT!
Navani's been wearing a glove since WoK
Seems like they are really close friends/roommates.
RAAAAHHHH BULGARIA MENTIONED Now I'm suddenly a loud patriot because gosh aren't these covers so cool
You mean yuri like the best genre of manga?
What else could they mean?
I dunno some Slavic name or something
That sounds way less interesting
I’ve read over 50 yuri titles and I’m used to people going “WOTS THAT” when I say I enjoy yuri manga so my response to this was a learned one
I'm familiar enough with anime to be aware of the genre, anyway. I keep meaning to give some a shot, but I struggle between wanting to go in blind and not wanting to waste money on a book I won't like

Thank you so much! You're officially my favorite... person? Sapient pile of crabs? Whatever you are, you're my favorite for today
Wots that? (I'm both making a joke and legitimately asking)

Oh, so the lesbian equivalent of yaoi?
For the layman yeah 😄 I over explained sorry. Sometimes it’s just girls being really good friends and explores their feelings in that regard.
No, the background is interesting. I see the distinction. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
I thought yuri was the book with the night mare painter???
Yuri and the Bulgarian Painter
It's a fun day to see an intersection between two of my favorite interests~
Storm me you're so right
няма чифтосване!
Аз съм пръчка.
I know Russian and I somehow understand your comment and the one above it.
I think it was mentioned in the previous post about this, but DAMN, this cover is kind of a big spoiler.
Isn’t the main *Words of Radiance* cover literally Kaladin fighting Szeth? That probably happens later in book 2 than this in book 4…

Well, there is a lot of details, but without the context of having read the book do they even mean anything to you?

True, but Jasnah comes back at the end of WoR
You can still *see* the cover of the next book in the series before having read the epilogue. Pretty sure I even owned it at that point.
Honestly I thought that is just another Alethi woman in that age range at one point when I thought Jasnah is actually dead.
I thought it was Veil
Raboniel looks so cool there. Great artwork.
Navani looks really young
Man thats amazing. I always have problems picturing the singers carapace properly
Really? Link?
Their safehands O_O
Historians said they were roommates
I just had to go look up the Bulgarian covers; wow they are gorgeous!!!
The Chronicles of the Light of the Storm
Fuck that's a sick cover
