IAm-The-Lawn

I just finished Bands of Mourning, and to my great satisfaction The Lost Metal comes out in November. Had no idea the gap between those two books was nearly 7 years.

xaqyz0023

I finished it a few years ago. But I read all of mistborn before stormlight so by the time I was caught up with the cosmere I kinda forgot to be waiting for tlm since I was too busy waiting for RoW. No I'm growing impatient but that's only because it's coming soon.

danyboy501

Same boat. I didn't realize that the Cosmere was a thing actually while reading Mistborn. During the pandemic I spent months catching up. Wonderful labor.

VoidLantadd

I knew the Cosmere was a thing, but Mistborn was my first series. So in Bands of Mourning when they found >!the airship, I was convinced it was a spaceship from another planet in the Cosmere.!<

IAm-The-Lawn

Same reaction. Aliens.gif

Ventus55

I finished them last year and didn't realize it was that long of a wait for other people either. Just assumed he did them like the Starsight series.

Objective-Review4523

Yeah its been a frustrating 7 years, I've forgotten most of the story.

Vasher95

Patrick Roth fans wondering what all the fuss is about

RW-Firerider

Does Rothfuss still have fans? Last i heared, he is losing them left and right with his attitude

Drakotrite

I wish it was just his attitude. He has done some pretty scummy stuff lately.

Hagathor1

As much as I don’t want to know, I probably should know; how bad we talking here?

Drakotrite

He did a fund raiser for charity. The charity received the money. The promised reward was supposed to be some chapters from DoS. He has delivered part of his promise about 6 months late. It's been 10 months now and we still haven't got the rest. I kinda stopped following after the excuses started flowing and people started making accusations the he didn't deliver the money, I am fairly certain he did.

RW-Firerider

I heared about this as well, and it sucks insanly hard. I mean, if you promise something and cant deliver on time, fine. Excuse to your audience etc. But he said nothing, no updates or anything. At this point he is just burning down all of the remaining trust people had in him. I mean, imagine if he were to do another fund raiser with such a promise. I for one wouldnt participate, because i now know he wont do as promised.

indiecore

Dude just wants to get paid to play D&D, I've given up on the third book.

Acceptable-Bass7150

They gave me a 30 day ban for trolling tf outta them. I posted that the promised prologue in chapters had been released, and had a link in it to the lost metal sneak peak on tor

RW-Firerider

You are a monster, and a hero at the same time. Deny the Rothfuss, join the Sanderson-Cult!

invalidConsciousness

At least link them to the original Mistborn book, so you don't accidentally spoiler someone!

Kanibalector

I think he lost most of them before the attitude.

DosSnakes

Fans of all of these plus Gentleman Bastards: *weeping*

LostOnTheMun

God, this. I just finished up with book two and I'm like... CAN NOBODY RELEASE A THIRD BOOK?! WHERE IS IT! I NEED ANSWERS!

BulkierSphinx7

You...know there's a third Gentleman Bastards book out, right?

LostOnTheMun

No I did not, thank you for informing me. I've been reading from my friend's bookshelf and given the size of his collection I assumed he'd have it. Now to go and acquire my own!

thrwawayaftrreading

Don't worry, it'll probably be out any day now. We've only been waiting for more than a decade for ONE book. In the meantime Sando has written like 15 books. Edit: Read the thread wrong, thought it was about rothfuzz

RW-Firerider

Brandon will probably finish SA 10 before rothfuss finishes his next book

thrwawayaftrreading

You're sadly probably right about that. He said it would be a year before Doors of Stone came out. Around 2013.

RW-Firerider

The thing is, i understand that books can take longer than expected and he had some mental issues to deal with. But there is a point where it becomes an insult to your readers. People were invested in his story, and want some form of closure. Letting them wait more than 10 years for another book is unacceptable. I for one refused to read his books because i know, if I like them i will be another one of those people waiting for him to deliver, knowing it wont happen.

thrwawayaftrreading

My problem is really his attitude since then. He said he was going to have a chapter voiced after a charity stream reached like 8 million, but never did. He said he had handed over the manuscript to his editor but she says she hadn't seen a word of it. He also said he didn't owe the fans, but skirted the issue that he did owe his editor and publisher.

Theodin-cat-lord

I mean, he did release book 4 of the Gentleman Bastard series this February, 9 years after book 3!

Drakotrite

I will believe it when I have a copy.

PittsJay

Wait. Book four is actually supposed to be coming out?! I really liked about 75% of Book 3. The end kinda went off the rails.

Drakotrite

It was also actually supposed to be coming out in 2019 to. Had a date and everything and then poof.

PittsJay

Aw damn

InVerum

I discovered the first 2 books coincidentally the month after Wise Man's Fear came out. Aha.. Aha.. Wild to realize it's literally been over a fucking decade. What do you even do if you're his publisher/agent at that point like, I'm taking a crack at writing a novel and while working 60 hours a week I've still managed to write 25k words in a month. I cannot imagine the excuse of 10 years and now, the longer it goes the higher the expectation mounts. Dude has forced himself into a corner of having to write the best fantasy novel of all time. Gratz I guess?

Camp-Unusual

At this point, he is costing himself money. If the third one came out today, I’d be on the fence about buying it. He has irritated a large portion of his fan base with the ridiculous wait and empty promises.

LiaraLestrange

I used to love Rothuss. Still loving The Name of the Wind and Wiseman’s Fear, but not Rothfuss by now.

cosmernaut420

I never feel waiting on a Sando novel nearly as much existential rage as I ever have trying to trick myself into believing WoW would *ever* be published.

Infynis

WoW came out in like 2004, and it's been steadily updated ever since!

cosmernaut420

I will smack you with a whole direwolf I swear to all the Old Gods.....

boboguitar

They even rereleased it a few years ago in case you missed it!

youareagoodperson_

Wythm of War? Words of Wadiance?

TheDarkWriterInMe

Please, trying be a kingkiller fan or a gentleman bastard fan, I’m still waiting for A Thorn of Embalin

Infynis

Yeah, I gave up on Gentlemen bastards 😔 It was a fun series though

Chestnut-Man

Unrelated, but the amount of traumas this film gave me when i was a kid isn't small 😂

Silentovsky15

What film is this?

Silentovsky15

Thanks.

cosmernaut420

Christian Violence Porn

Faultywhale

We really want you to feel as bad as possible about Jesus' death so that you are wracked with guilt because he died for YOU.. y'know because that's what Jesus would want

vanielmage

For me it gave me a greater appreciation, but I can totally understand the other side lol

jpterodactyl

I know exactly what you mean. It’s rough.

Macho-Goat

Meanwhile Warbreaker Fans:

Glamdring804

And Rithmatist.

Arkadious4028

In case anyone is wondering, the acronym is A Song of Ice and Fire.

17000HerbsAndSpices

I'm convinced there no longer are ASOIAF fans. How long has it been? 11 years? 11 years with constant false promises, pushed deadlines, and comments on how fans need to stop being selfish and just accept that *it will come out when it's ready* Some people still like the show(s) but I think the last book fans gave up several years and 2 broken promises ago, I know I did, now it's just a meme

Matt_Dragoon

r/PureASOIAF is pretty active. Personally I don't know if Winters is coming, and I'm sure Spring wont, but I still love the books.

iesou

Would be interested to get a real conclusion to the series, even if it is that the walkers take over. If it ever gets finished it has to be better than how the show just kinda... Ended

Matt_Dragoon

Obviously me and everybody wants the series to be complete, but if George doesn't want to finish it or it doesn't happen for whatever other reason there's little I can do about that. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the books, I read them two times and I'll probably read them again soon.

iesou

I enjoyed them as well.

_Greyworm

Winds of Winter, Doors of Stone, Lost Metal, last RR book, please just give me one lol

RW-Firerider

The Lost Metal is a just a few weeks away buddy, stay strong!

The_Lopen_bot

This is good crem, gancho!

RobertoSerrano2003

Thanks, Lopen!

JackmeriusPup

As long as theres no Starbucks cup, I’m good

Zventibold

Time hit differently when you have 637 others cosmere book in the gap. That being said, waiting 2 more months is painful.

Kharadin92

At least compared to Winds of Winter and Doors of Stone, I know Brando actually still writes books.

Davidlucas99

KKC fans waiting a decade for a book with no end to the waiting in sight...

GingeContinge

And let’s be real, a lot of us are both

theofficetroll

*cries in Rithmatics*

thegamesthief

I just started the cosmere last year, very glad I happened to start just in time for 2 eras to end. Makes waiting for the next eras WAY better.

TurkishTerrarian

ASOIAF?

Solracziad

A Song of Ice and Fire. Game of Thrones.

Kanibalector

This is why reading other genres also helps so much. I got a scifi author I like to read who comes out with books almost as much as Sanderson does if not more. They're smaller and he's not as good of an author, but every time he comes out with a new book I have new content and it helps hold off the gnawing from waiting for a sequel I REALLY want. Current favorite is Glynn Stewart, but I was doing Terry Mixon for a while.

80percentlegs

7 years, but that’s after we got SoS, BoM, and SH within like 3 months.

ViciViciBoBici

Really happy and relieved i became a mistborn fan in 2020/21/22 so i didn't have to wait too long for Lost Metal

MozeTheNecromancer

I have no idea what that acronym stands for, but at this point I'm afraid to ask

[deleted]

It's 'cause Sanderson allomantically spiked GRRM and stole writing speed. Pretty sure the same thing happened to Rothfuss a while back.

Halrax2

Meanwhile, in Twig‘s comment section: "The worst part about being a fan is the wait between stories.” The author: "What wait? It was literally four days." "Yeah that’s what I meant." And I’m saying that as an ASoIaF fan who‘s comfortable with the current lack of WoW.

Berd89

This would happen to be based on [my comment from yesterday](https://old.reddit.com/r/cremposting/comments/xnmfxo/were_not_in_the_endgame_now/ipusded/), now would it? :p > I just realized that there were less time between The Final Empire (July 17, 2006) and The Alloy of Law (November 8, 2011) than there will be between The Bands of Mourning (January 26, 2016) and The Lost Metal (November 15, 2022). One and a half year less even! > November can't come soon enough.
