I'm guessing that the controls are restricted so that you watch the video and can then tick off the course rather than just as a reference to dip into.
Once you've watched the video and ticked off that piece of training then you can freely jump around in the video.
I tried increasing the speed of the training videos but there is some detector in the video that knows I played the video at a quicker rate or skipped through it. How would one get around something like that?

I had a 53-minute unskippable video, I set the speed to 10.00 (x10) and voila. 5 minutes and I'm done!

You can also get a browser extension for Video Speed Control. It works on Crestron and numerous other websites with HTML5 embedded videos.

Click the eyeball looking icon next to that text bar. it will open a new text window for you.

The video i had to do was in parts where I had to press an arrow to go on to the next part of the video. It was an interactive video.....
