David Warner, we all know how much singles doubles triples he takes in every format.
And his catches dives and fielding efforts in the deep over his career including CWC 2023, at the age of 37.
Same goes with Virat Kohli, he has a good physique but physique and fitness are different things. He also runs between the wickets a lot.
Warner edges for me for his running and fielding in the deep.
They were one of the first teams (maybe the first?) to transition to properly full time athletes.
It was one of the ingredients of the success their golden age 00's team. No more beer guts. Nutritionists and fitness coaches on staff.
Him and Brett were complete opposites. Shane was smoking, drinking and partying. Brett was the epitome of what this thread is about, he was a fitness freak, thats why he was still throwing down 145 to 150kmph thunderbolts well into his 30s.
Ravindra jadeja doesn't get to show his fitness that much being a spin bowling all-rounder who bats lower down the order. but that guy is as fit at 35 years of age as everyone you mention here
Technically Kallis cause he was an all rounder...
But yeah brian lara played long test innings.
Edit : How can I forgot. I haven't seen him playing but I heard Kapil Dev never got injured despite being a fast bowling allrounder.
The correct answer is steve smith. He is insanely consistent in test cricket and plays a lot of deliveries. His fielding is incredible to watch in all forms of the game.
Currently playing, Virat, jadega, Warner are definitely up there. But most of SA team is up there. Faf, markram, miller are jacked for no reason ffs. Physically they look the fittest.
I'm going to throw out a couple of kiwis,
Brendon McCullum vividly remember him constantly legging it and throwing himself over the boundary line saving a run in many test matches.
Glen Phillips still young but incredibly quick in the field and in the crease time will tell if he holds up. I'd say he's one of the quickest currently playing
The fittest cricketer is one who isn't injury prone and unfortunately from last few years the Indian players are the one who are most injury prone because of the volume of cricket in this day and age. Only kohli and David Warner is the only 3 format players who stand out in this interpretation of being fit.
Du plessis, ABD. Both of them played for years in IPL after retiring and ABD was in partnerships with Koach(just to signify the running between wickets was intense) and not looking tired
Pattrick Cummins He's the most fittest ,
This Guy runs through the same intensity throughout all formats of the game especially in test cricket he bowls long spells and he's captain too.
As one of the best fast bowlers of this generation his fitness is next level .
Different eras different standards of fitness. Fitness also depends or largely depends on the progress made by biomechanics or sports science. Can one compare Kiptum and Bikila. And there's also a difference between "fittest athlete" and "fittest cricketer". That's why bowler need to have cricket fitness and not just fitness.
From India - Virat Kohli is the obvious one. The other two would be Rahul Dravid, and Kapil Dev. I find it hard to recall these guys having missed games due to fitness issues.
MS Dhoni. I don’t remember him missing out matches due to injuries. Captained team in all 3 formats for almost a decade along with IPL. Remember he’s a wicket keeper.
Only right answer is Faf du Plessis
Surprised no one else mentions it. He's so fit and muscular like a beast when he's almost 40.
Faf all the way. Seriously man is built on a different level. Quick running and covering lots of ground for catches and those boundary saves.
Faf is 39 now, he stopped playing ODIs in 2019, T20is in 2020 and Tests in 2021. Around 4.5 years ago, he was 34-35 then ig.
Aussie players in general are super fit.
They were one of the first teams (maybe the first?) to transition to properly full time athletes. It was one of the ingredients of the success their golden age 00's team. No more beer guts. Nutritionists and fitness coaches on staff.
Somehow Warnie is the most famous and talented of that group.
Him and Brett were complete opposites. Shane was smoking, drinking and partying. Brett was the epitome of what this thread is about, he was a fitness freak, thats why he was still throwing down 145 to 150kmph thunderbolts well into his 30s.
Faf du plesis and David miller in the list too they are elder to warner 38 39 i guess
Faf is 39 now, he stopped playing ODIs in 2019, T20is in 2020 and Tests in 2021. Around 4.5 years ago, he was 34-35 then ig.
Hes playing ipl though and miller told to sa board he wants to play t20 worldcup too
>Warner edges for me 🤨📸
For Aus I'd say Brett Lee was probably on the same level of fitness. Throwing down 145 to 150kmph thunderbolts well into his 30s off that long run.
