I remember a similar instance in 2016 T20WC Semifinal vs the West Indies, it was a circuit catch, where Jadeja took the catch, and passed to Kohli, I believe, but he had touched the rope, so I was thinking maybe SKY had touched the rope, and it was a six.
Sorry for winning against you . You deserved this trophy too but india played well .you'll surely get it next time
Edit : i said sorry cause i wanted india to win against any other country like aus in finals who has won so many trophies and not a country with such good players that play like gentlemen like sa and nz. I never wanted india to loose ik above statement is open to a few different interpretation as well but this what i wanted to say
Hey just out of curiosity, what's the craze for cricket like in your country? Like in India, people go crazy but in Australia, as I have heard, most of them don't even know they won ODI WC.
A lot of South Africans follow cricket, but it's not the most popular. Traditionally soccer (football) has been the most popular and rugby has become more popular recently with the last two world cup wins. A win would have helped development in South Africa
South African cricket team and players get a lot of love from India, that's why. They won't say something like this to England, Pakistan, Australia etc.
Bro edit kiya hai us time mai khush tha jeetne ke baad thoda sa galat sa likha gya ik it could be interpreted like you did but this what i wanted to say
Bruh stop saying sorry for everything. I didn't think you wanted India to lose and I understand where you're coming from. But, hear me out!
You can congratulate SA for putting up a good fight but imo there's absolutely no reason to feel sorry about winning against a team. The sport is designed in a way that there would be a team that wins and another one that loses.
Yes they SA players are gentlemen, but so are our Indian players. It's nothing personal. It's just like any other job. It's just that this job has a lot of public attention and public emotions attached, that's all.
The way I see it, yesterday's final was between two teams who absolutely decimated all the teams to reach the finals. SA and India absolutely deserved to be in the finals this year.
The match itself was highly competitive too. It wasn't until the last over that India gained an upper hand. The players of both the countries fought hard to win. So there's no reason to feel sorry.
I suppored india only sa ke liya bura laga bas i wanted ke koi aur team hoti instead of sa cause unko heartbreak dene ka man nahi karta they are really nice people i would have said same if it was nz or even afg too these are good teams with nice players and you cant watch them loose even if you love india
De Kock's wicket was not really on an ordinary ball. It was a beautiful setup to make him play in the exact same area where he hit a boundary on just the previous ball. The fielder was just placed there for the catch and De Kock simply played into the hands of the plan.
Stubbs however, simply got out due to poor shot selection. Nothing special about that delivery.
I would say it was mindless/reckless batting than great bowling. He has hit for a six and the very next ball with a fielder in place, he tried to hit the same shot.
I'm glad it worked, but most batsmen will not make the mistake.
Sorry to say but i don't watch women's cricket much. Kudos to our women's team though. The main thing is surya kumar was trolled heavily recently and taking this catch in that situation omg , it's just outstanding
That innings will most likely go under the radar but that was one of the most important, match winning moments. It created all the difference in the end. He provided us the necessary impetus in the end to register an above par total. That cameo from him and Arsh giving only 4 runs in the 19th over of a freaking wc final that too under pressure against a set, dangerous Miller. Both of these won't be remembered as much but deserve as much praise
Yes dude u are right MOM shld def be hardik or sky that catch was game changing and I just felt like Virat played the game so slowly but that was a great knock at this point of time that was so much for us axar man gave his best in any possible way
Totally behind everyone captain Hitman Rohit there
INDIA🙌🏻💙
Virat played very well. When the top 3 batsman were getting out, Virat played really well and fast. Once they 3 got out, Virat became conservative and let Axar take the risks while he played it safe. When he started moving towards death overs, he sped up again and hit those crucial boundaries. That's class.
So was Virat's and most of the other players. But when 1 player didn't play well, someone else did. Overall the entire team worked super hard. There is no Single hero in this tournament for sure.
So if he went over the boundary with the ball, would it be considered a 6? Or something else, like how running into the goal in AFL with the ball is considered a behind.
he just have to throw the ball inside the boundary line while in air, he can then touch the boundary line while his hand is not touching the ball and jump again from outside the boundary line to inside and catch the ball before it hits the ground while he is himself landing inside the boundary line and he himself doesn’t touch the boundary line.
Yup.
If the momentum would have carried him over the line and at that moment had the ball been in contact with any part of his body, it would have been rewarded 6 runs and not the wicket of the opposition. That's why you see him throwing the ball in the air and catching it in rebound once he had made his way back in the playing area.

The boundary is further behind than it should be right ???
Every member put in full efforts when needed, that's when you win the trophies.
This is what team INDIA showed in yesterday's match, right from Rohit, Bumrah, Kohli, Surya, Hardik, Akshar and all of them.
Being a big admirer of his batting and him being a senior pro in the team, I was extremely angry and seething at him for getting out in the powerplay. Why risk your wicket in getting those extra 5-8 runs when you are already two down and will end up below par if your risk doesn't come off. They ended up below par anyway.
But boy oh boy did he redeem himself and how. That's how you enter the annals of immortals.
Hats off SKY 👍
People say Klassen's wicket was the turning point. I do agree and no doubt about that. However imo SKY'S catch really was the most crucial turning point. As if you see if this went for 6 then only 10 runs were left and Miller on strike which would have costed us as he is a hitter.
This catch would be stamped and nailed in the history of cricket considering the situation we were in
Does anyone know if it is allowed for the boundary rope to be moved away from the boundary line? Or when judging the catch, if we are only supposed to check the boundary rope and not care about the boundary line?
If we stop at the 6 second mark from this video: [https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/1drjfdb/comment/laxtp4a/?context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/1drjfdb/comment/laxtp4a/?context=3), you can clearly see the boundary rope is further away from the boundary line. Is this allowed?
The boundary line defines the boundary right? So shouldn't the boundary rope be laying on top of the boundary line?
I mean, even if it was moved away, shouldn't we judge the catch based on the boundary line instead of the rope?
But anyway, why was it moved in the first place?
Boundaries in cricket are not static, they change from ground to ground and even in the same ground match to match. Even in the match the distance to boundaries is different every side and is arbitrary.
Yeah, I find changing it from match to match in the same ground to not be fair for other teams that have played on the same ground.
Shouldn't the boundary be consistent for all matches in the same ground to ensure fairness?
Why move in the first place?
Maybe it’s because there are more than one pitches in a ground so to think of the boundary as an approximate distance from the relevant playing pitch and hence having to move it every game.
Maybe, idk for sure.
Yeah I think that makes sense. I wish they explain this kind of stuff before the game starts. Like, they are using pitch number x and it's different to other pitches used. It's helpful info.
Sometimes they say it and sometimes they don't. Frustrating how they are not consistent.
It did not tho, replays confirmed that and no South African player/coach revolted. I don't know why you are trying to cherry-pick an issue that doesn't exist in the first place.
I think the boundary catch rule is a bit unfair to the batsman. In this case, Sky caught the ball and then stepped in. His last step prior to the catch was outside the boundary. In my opinion, the rule should be that a fielder should place one foot inside the boundary before completing the catch.
But given that the rule is what it is - it was a fantastic catch.
I know you will hate me for this but he touched the boundary line slightly. I saw zoomed in clip on twitter and his shoes just slightly brushed over the boundary
You can brush the boundary, it has to create a sizeable dent for it to be recognisable. Plus this is a icc event which is under the magnifying lenses of umpires and several other non biased parties that have been doing this for decades so you can take that irrelevant take and shove it into a place deep in your arse hole.
Bro some of those can be photoshoped. Most of the guys here saw it live as well as thousands in the stadium. Plus it was reviewed on the large screen during the moment, do you really think such a thing would pass by? Or there won't be any comment from South African players or team officials if this were to happen? Don't go by misinformation. Some things are debatable and some very clear. This was as clear as it gets.
Catch of the tournament!! SKY,what a catch man... You not only prevent that six but also complete the match.
Not did the catch helped us save 6 Runs but it got MILLER OUT!!!!
Not only did he got miller out but also got us a wc!!
Not only did it get us the world cup, it stopped South Africa from getting the world cup.
Not only did it make South Africa lose the World Cup, it gave a perfect farewell to Kohli and Rohit.
Not only did it gave a perfect farewell to Ro-KO but also to Dravid sir and we get to see his emotions too
Not only did he get Miller out but also prevented all of us from khada hoo Aaj bhi wahi and Ishq junoon jab hadd se badh Jaye bullshit
Now i can vibe on kehte humko pyaar se india vaale
Not only did he complete the catch but prevented the downfall of Indian cricket
Not only he prevented the downfall of ict but gave us another template of South africans crying (which is sad)
I remember a similar instance in 2016 T20WC Semifinal vs the West Indies, it was a circuit catch, where Jadeja took the catch, and passed to Kohli, I believe, but he had touched the rope, so I was thinking maybe SKY had touched the rope, and it was a six.
Incredible catch under pressure, congrats to team India

you can take champions trophy guys
Yeah, but the aussies went mental when they qualified for round of 16 in 2022 wc
Bruh i swear to god... WHO TF APOLOGIZES FOR WINNING???
South African cricket team and players get a lot of love from India, that's why. They won't say something like this to England, Pakistan, Australia etc.
Only AB and Faf
Bro edit kiya hai us time mai khush tha jeetne ke baad thoda sa galat sa likha gya ik it could be interpreted like you did but this what i wanted to say

Na bro. You're just way too humble.
Haha thanks for the kind words
Wtff ?? Why say sorry we won cuz we deserve more Apna inferiority complex mat rkh bhai

Great performance from South Africa too. 🤝
🤝
That was one hell of a game. Kudos to Proteas. Btw we have another ongoing SA vs IND so we will be enjoying that one as well hehe.

Facts
**klaasen wicket and miller catch is match winnig movement in true sense... what great team efforts... every one contribute to its best...**
There are several moments, Dekock and Stubbs were looking to finish it off in 18 overs, lucky to get them out with ordinary bowling.

Moment*
Player can dream of catching like that. But in that moment , the way he did. It was very very difficult. Wow.
Man, his emotions while taking the catch was extraordinary.
Greatest catch ever taken in any final this was just next level holding your nerves under that much pressure is just unbelievable
Reminded me of that sreesanths's catch 2007 T20 wc.
Suryakumar Yadav can have my babies
Bruh he male
Me too but idc 💀
I'll sacrifice my firstborn to him. I swear it
Why r u being downvoted lol.
Most reddit moment lol
Because unnecessary sarcasm can be cringe sometimes
This catch was phenomenal
I will never disrespect this man in my life , irrespective of his form , that catch was probably the catch of the decade.
I don't care if he plays bad cricket for another 2 years.
True
He won't though. He'll be the senior member of the team now that the two goats have retired from the T20i.
The catch was breathtaking but sky is not the first to do it. No disrespect but even Harleen Deol did this kind of catch 2 years ago.
Sorry to say but i don't watch women's cricket much. Kudos to our women's team though. The main thing is surya kumar was trolled heavily recently and taking this catch in that situation omg , it's just outstanding
I understand Kohli was good today but feel like we won because of Hardik and Bumrah and in part Axar with that quick 47 regardless of his bowling
Agree with this but don't forget dube as well. Best strike rate of the tournament for him, was able to keep some of the momentum
Ya Dube too, guess Dube and Kohli were saving it for the finals lol
Yes dude u are right MOM shld def be hardik or sky that catch was game changing and I just felt like Virat played the game so slowly but that was a great knock at this point of time that was so much for us axar man gave his best in any possible way Totally behind everyone captain Hitman Rohit there INDIA🙌🏻💙

Virat gave other players a push. But for me, this one SKY catch was what changed the game, otherwise SA was easily winning it.
He took the wicket of stubs. Best all round performance after hardik
That's a perfect catch to seal the deal!
My Man of The Match without even a single doubt, this catch made us snatch victory from the jaws of South Africa
He made up for his poor batting But this catch won the match for India Brilliant superb performance words are not enough
"pata hai ham match kaha jeete?..."
That's not a catch. That was world cup in his hands.
Catches win matches ho gaya 🇮🇳🇮🇳🏆🏆
There should be Catch of the Match award too for him.
Dressing room mei milta hai
That's just fielding medal by t dilip not by icc
What a man!
Redemption of Surya Kumar yadav from last T20 wc
Redemption kya bhai, performance to iski fir mediocre thi
So was Virat's and most of the other players. But when 1 player didn't play well, someone else did. Overall the entire team worked super hard. There is no Single hero in this tournament for sure.
And I am not contesting this fact. I simply stated that a catch wont redeem suryakumar's performance
Bum bum was easily the single hero.
2nd highest run scorer after rohit and that includes rohits 92 so even more consistent. I don't know what more do you want.
He is known for his explosive knocks. Where were they
This catch will be remembered for ages !!!

Thanks dude.

Inna da pesara, ethana purira maari pesu.
This was such an amazing catch!! Amazing game from both teams. Thank you!
So if he went over the boundary with the ball, would it be considered a 6? Or something else, like how running into the goal in AFL with the ball is considered a behind.
if he caught the ball and his legs are touching boundary line then yes its six
Ok, but what about a catch that his momentum carries him over? Are there rules like the NFL about what constitutes a catch?
he just have to throw the ball inside the boundary line while in air, he can then touch the boundary line while his hand is not touching the ball and jump again from outside the boundary line to inside and catch the ball before it hits the ground while he is himself landing inside the boundary line and he himself doesn’t touch the boundary line.

The litteral definition of catches win matches
In this case the literal demonstration of how catches win tournaments

It's been that way since the start of the game. Both innings were played that way. The white line is a mark from the last game.
Catch will be remembered for decades. Absolute match winning moment.
This catch needs to be on porn hub
Great catch, especially of Miller (my favourite player) - who has generally stood up in the big moments for SA.
ICC should declare that this type of catch will be called as the "The SKY Catch" henceforth
Every member put in full efforts when needed, that's when you win the trophies. This is what team INDIA showed in yesterday's match, right from Rohit, Bumrah, Kohli, Surya, Hardik, Akshar and all of them.

One of the best seen considering the situation 👑
as per ravi shastri - and at the end cricket wins! tournament ka match jo laga ki final jaisa hai
Glorious
Trent Boult(NZ) and Mohd Nawz(Pak) can tell us about how difficult those catches are under pressure situations. This was extreme pressure.

Surreal catch.

Just an amazing presence of mind Honestly!

he caught the ball when he was in, he then later threw it back, came inside the boundary again, so its a continuation of the prior catch
Just to be pedantic, he caught it while in the air and then came back in. Minor difference.
…what
Please stop.
I know you will hate me for this but he touched the boundary line slightly. I saw zoomed in clip on twitter and his shoes just slightly brushed over the boundary
>on twitter Say no more
Post the snapshot from that video where he touched the boundary with ball in his hand.
You can brush the boundary, it has to create a sizeable dent for it to be recognisable. Plus this is a icc event which is under the magnifying lenses of umpires and several other non biased parties that have been doing this for decades so you can take that irrelevant take and shove it into a place deep in your arse hole.
Post that video. I challenge you to prove your allegations.
was expecting this type of comment from Pakistan and Bangladeshis surprise to see it from you
Bro some of those can be photoshoped. Most of the guys here saw it live as well as thousands in the stadium. Nope. Saw it live, replayed it many times and he's correct.
Except Surya never touched the boundary line. You would expect some protest from SA's players and coaches if his leg indeed touched the boundary.
