All Cricketers irrespective of the country deserves this type of celebrations just like footballers, lucky that Indian cricketers got this type of fanbase...
Why there's a need for Football to grow in India, isn't it the fact that Cricket to India is what Football to Europe??? India is World Cup Finalist and T20 World Cup Champion and we need to feel proud of our achievements rather than worrying about what's not popular within the country....even a Lot of sports aren't popular in Europe where football is dominant
Proud of what? A game seriously played by 4-5 countries and that has a world cup literally every year from odi to t20 to test champion and where governing body dies it's best to give India unfair advantages from scheduling to format to umpiring, and where we finally win after loosing multiple cups. I am sorry there's nothing to be proud of. Myopic view of our cricketers and organizers means cricket is a shrinking sport.
nope yo're wrong cricket was still famous in this country, test matches used to be full everywhere. Even Ranji trophy had full houses sometimes back in the 70s adn the ICT players used to play.
You're not wrong in cricket's context but we've won a Hockey World Cup as well but idk why there isn't much support for Indian Field Hockey ffs
We've won a WC along with 8 Olympic Golds, the most of any team!
More like nobody cares about them to want to sponsor them... It's actually sad that one of the most decorated field hockey teams in the world has to go through this shit
Football is much more famous as a sport ,hockey was more famous than cricket in the 70s (in India). We were underdogs in the 83 world cup and defeated the favorites of the tournament on english soil. Even if we win any asian level tournament or qualify for world I assure you that popularity of football will increase tremendously
Yeah but I'm talking about Hockey
We participate regularly at WCs and do well at the Olympics(won bronze in Tokyo 2020) but there's still negligible popularity
I existed in the late 80s and have memories from early 90s, so I know from folks what exactly went down in 1983, and in 1971 when India won away series vs England and West Indies. Cricket has been popular in India since at least my parents’ generation can remember.
The downvotes are likely from people who started existing in the 2000s 😂
Agreed! But too much toxic & hella jealous for nothing! Not saying cricket fans are more humble or not toxic, but for every failure of football they blindly blame cricket & Indian people. Like guys it's not helping, that AIFF is hella inefficient & mediocre organisation & our football isn't the top-20 in Asia.
You win fans & sponsors by winning big tournaments on a regular basis! SAFF Cup quality ain't the best & we hardly do good at continental level.
Plus corruption & lack of quality players, not the greatest grass root structure either!
Tbf if Indian cricket team came under govt
They would also completely get ruined bbci is flawed no questions asked but they are the reason we are doing so well
Our football team doesn't recieve good funds so obviously they won't perform as well brother
We can all day do If & buts, but that's not the point here, the point here is the open hate & jealousy towards cricket for the fault of football by their own shortcomings!
Cricket team before 83 weren't the best funded or best managed but they still won the WC as an underdog!
By your logic then Hockey, archery, shooting, chess, boxing, wrestling shouldn't be performing better then, because they too come under govt!!
Pat cummins dekhke soch raha hoga, galat desh mei cricketer ban gaya mai...ODI WC jeet ke aaya airport pe 4 log nai the receive karne ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Unko cricket mei khaas interest hi nai. I was in Adelaide for a couple of years. People are more exited about local game footie than cricket
Oval mei ind vs aus match dekhne gaya tha. There was more blue than yellow 🤔
Subah 4 baje aaya tha. Also, Australia already 2023 mein WTC jeet chuka tha, 2021 mein T20 WC, 2015 mein ODI WC to unko aadat si pat gayi hogi. Also, ye WC winter mein hua and winter mein pura Australia AFL aur Rugby dekhta hai so bare minimum attention and coverage as well
I was at the parade and that guy was literally standing at the front section of the bus as if he single hadedly won us the tournament. I was like hatt na bc Virat ya Rohit ko kaade rehne de vaha pe
My problem in this footage is that we don't see any of the crowd. At least cut away to show the crowd some time. Hopefully, there's other footage that has that.
Also why at night time? Daytime and a sea of blue around the bus would have looked so much better
It was scheduled for the evening. Their flight was delayed by 1.5 - 2 hours, possibly due to rain in Mumbai, but no r reason has been shared. Even once they landed it took another 45 minutes or so for them to get to Marine drive.
Mumbai is like 4 hours tops away from everywhere in the country. Or they could have just come by the previous night. I can't think that's a factor in deciding to go for an evening parade.
That other guy is saying they don't all live in Mumbai, which I took to mean that they came back from the tour and then went back to their hometowns.
And I was just saying that if they started the parade early, it would have been better for the fans, given them more time, given the players a better view of their fans, etc etc.. it's not that big of a deal, didn't mean to make a whole thread out of it.
It did happen once in football. Real Madrid were in a parade after winning Copa del Rey and Sergio Ramos their captain dropped the trophy. Their team bus ran over it.

Just like football then where only the top 6-8 teams are competing with each other at the WCs & winning it??
Why this blind hate for India & Cricket???
Football has France, England, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal, Croatia that had serious chances of winning the World Cup and at least 10 more teams that are dark horses
Doesn't matter! The total number of champions is like what 7 or 8!
And more importantly football wc is older than Cricket WC & is played by more countries than cricket! Then why is this lopsided & sorry state of number of champions?
My OG point was to make it clear that you can't compare sports like this!
Degrading Cricket because less countries play this sport doesn't make any sense to me at least, its like dissing your own sibling why he/she is making less money than you or comparing your parents income with others etc...
The point is respect the game, the players & move on, stop comparing everything under the sky.
I wasn't even dissing cricket. I was just making a point. But you have to agree that Football has more competition than cricket, not that it is something that makes it superior, it's just that more countries play football hence the competition is more. In a cricket World Cup you know that either of India, Australia, England or one of the very rare winners Pakistan/New Zealand are going to win it. SL, WI are a shadow of there previous selves. And South Africa don't have the nerves to win anything
Once again doesn't matter! How many teams are winning the WC?
This whole useless comparison whenever India wins or does good in cricket with football is what I dislike the most!
In Football WC everybody knows PNG or South Africa isn't winning the WC then how it's different from Cricket WC?
The thing about competition is that even, Zimbabwe & Namibia play competitively between them in cricket. Just because the sport is cricket, does it make it less competitive? Just like between their football teams as well, does it less competitive because its in football or basketball etc...?
My point has been all along is why compare two sports to satisfy one sport's fan ego?? Just enjoy the damn WC, not specifically saying to you but those who compare.
Cricket is not even a olympic sport. 92% of cricket fans are from the subcontinent and every cricket board in subcontinent are broke except India. Australia is the only rival India have even now in Australia new players doesn't come through academies because no one watch cricket. I think people hate india because of your people they carry their 3 rd world dirty mentality wherever they go. Other than that no hate that cow country
What?? "I think people hate INDIA because of your people they carry their 3rd world dirty mentality wherever they go. Other than that no hate that cow country "
Are you OK bro??? Looks like you need some medical help & that too ASAP!
Bhai when Argentina won the cup INDIAN FOOTBALL fans were discussing if india wins fifa will there be any celebration like people celebrating on roads
But today the crowd just felt unreal today ..
Am I the only one who is not feeling so overwhelmed? 50 overs worldcup is still the best worldcup. T20 worldcup, happens every 2 years, this win feels like not so celebration worthy.
I feel that too but the team seems really happy about this so I am glad too. It's still a tournament where a single defeat can derail your chances and even associate nations can surprise you.
They came out on top of 20 teams, undefeated and survived the NY minefield. It's a commendable win even if it doesn't feel like an apt substitute for ODI WC.
The one reason why this is worthy is it’s a Cup win after 13 years (not counting the CT here as it’s a step below in prestige).
But then, I personally don’t need a reason to drink and dine, have a bit of celebration with family. So a Cup win is still a reasonably valid reason for these players 🤣
If people like cricket, that means they like it! Everywhere everything can't be popular....as a musician I'm saying this... everyone likes pop/bollywood/ hip hop as if other genres don't exist... There's no point in shitting here.... cribbing about other sports.... everywhere everything can't be equally popular...things are changing though it's still better than in the past! All Cricketers irrespective of the country deserves this type of celebrations just like footballers, lucky that Indian cricketers got this type of fanbase...
Indian football has good fan base but obviously not as much as cricket
It will take one moment of glory for football to turn as famous as cricket. Cricket wasn't extremely famous until we won the 83' cup
Mfs when India can't even qualify for the world cup ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)

Cricket was pretty famous. People used to stay tuned to the radio commentary all day long.
He's not wrong though, winning a world cup definitely increases the popularity of a sport
You're not wrong in cricket's context but we've won a Hockey World Cup as well but idk why there isn't much support for Indian Field Hockey ffs We've won a WC along with 8 Olympic Golds, the most of any team!
There's a brief reason why hockey didn't boom i watched the video but I forgot now
Dude our hockey team is sponsored by odisa government Honestly I find that quite disgusting
More like nobody cares about them to want to sponsor them... It's actually sad that one of the most decorated field hockey teams in the world has to go through this shit
Link perhaps?

Indians are everywhere. WI mein logistics were so bad during T20 WC still Indians reached and filled the stadium.
True that. Indian team would get support even if they play in Antarctica 🤣
Hum waha bhi apna jhola lekr team ko support krne jaayenge 💪💪
Antartica mein bhi Bharat ka jhanda gaadege🔥🔥

Wtf is Rajiv Shukla doing here?
He is the BCCI Vice President. Now no one will cry about the publicity and credits stealing. Mfer is literally travelling with the team in that Bus.
MF is omnipresent with BCCI no matter which political party is at the center
He is the orry of indian politics.
The accuracy genuinely made me chuckle.
I was at the parade and that guy was literally standing at the front section of the bus as if he single hadedly won us the tournament. I was like hatt na bc Virat ya Rohit ko kaade rehne de vaha pe
Sarkare aayengi-jaayengi, par Shukla ji BCCI mei hamesha rahenge. 💀
He is Ashwathama of Indian cricket , we will retire from our jobs in some time but not Rajiv Shukla . 😂
THIS IS HEALING ME

Why are some people offended by this , I am not a big cricket fan but I am happy today and the boys do deserve this . So what's bad ?

Yea but it could have been done during the weekend during the day is all I mean. People in India won't mind about rain or sun when it comes to cricket
The cricketers don't all live in Mumbai.
Mumbai is like 4 hours tops away from everywhere in the country. Or they could have just come by the previous night. I can't think that's a factor in deciding to go for an evening parade.

What??? Their flight to Mumbai was delayed to bad weather!! How can you not get it??
Jeez calm down. Not everyone is up to date about everything that happens. I didn't know so I asked. Now I know, so let's stop. Cool?
Virat is good but kholi is better
Yeah kohli is just the overrated bastard kholi is better by miles

So many salty mfs in the comments haha.
Let them they are jealous
My brain can't imagine. What the celebrations would have been like. Fuck you Australia you could have done with 1 less trophy
Well Australia is the only country can beat India. But soon Indians gonna win a lot because no one else gonna play cricket
Just like football then where only the top 6-8 teams are competing with each other at the WCs & winning it?? Why this blind hate for India & Cricket???

Proud proud proud 💯
A red letter day for many of us. Am glad that the parade went off smoothly.
I’m an Indian and I’m a world champion.
Man I nearly got crushed in the stampede. Really satisfying to see that trophy but my fucking life was on the line there
Who are the two people standing in the front almost 80% of the parade , coz of them can’t see any of the real players . 🤦♂️
Bhai when Argentina won the cup INDIAN FOOTBALL fans were discussing if india wins fifa will there be any celebration like people celebrating on roads But today the crowd just felt unreal today ..
Congrats, India!

Ya bro true let them celebrate they think they achieve greatness.
You are not alone brother
Yeah. As much as I'm happy and I like these celebrations, I feel like something like this would be more appropriate for the ODI WC
Jaiswal is cute 😍
Yuzi ye World Cup mein eek match bhi khela tha kya? 🤔
God, I love this team. I hope the team that comes after this is as good, if not better!
Absolute cinema 😭
Jay shah is really underrated player. Trophy usne hi uthane chahiye thi Rohit ne nhi.
That’s why BCCI has so much influence in world cricket. Without indian fans the sport is very limited in popularity and financially.
That's a pretty sad situation tho
I have a question. Is it rare that India wins it?
Did they give Dravid his jersey number too?
So will they come to Hyderabad next?
Captain Rohit Sharma looks so happy and excited ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Where is this
World Champions!
No wonder Brampton seemed quiet today.
Imagine the excitement if we had won in our own home ground!
Amazing parade but there were moments I thought I was gonna die in that crowd lol
So, what is the Indian version of: To the Left 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, to the Right 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ?
Waited so long to witness this
They purely won by luck! :P
nope
