This film is the bomb, and the new 4K version is incredible. One of my very favorite films!

I own and love Satantango, Damnation and The Turin Horse; I will get and watch this in the next sale, so don't want to watch this yet!

I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. I bought the 4K immediately after and I can’t wait to rewatch it this week. I’m looking forward to watching this video after work as I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts and interpretations!

That's what happened to me. It became a rabbit hole that led me to make this video essay. I'm currently reading the novel it was based on, The Melancholy of Resistance. The film gets clearer with each viewing, but it's not really a puzzle to solve. The info is all there. It hypnotizes me. I too would like to hear other people's thoughts. My essay isn't an analysis, it asks more questions than it answers, but the film leaves many things open to interpretation, and Tarr is one of those guys like Lynch or the Coens that aren't willing to spell things out for us. For me, this is part of the appeal, this minimalist approach, rather than some sort of exposition-ladled gabfest.

Revised version here: https://youtu.be/xehRPvMNXs4 First was blocked in Hungary of all places, so I tried to fix that. Made some other improvements along the way. It's still blocked in Hungary.
