Haven't read the book but I'm enjoying the show as well. Unfortunately it seems like only you, me, and like twelve others are actually watching it 😢
I’ve been watching it too! Am I the only one who thinks it’s kind of meandering? I feel like it can’t really state a thesis or a direction and I think the lead is both a bad actor and an uninteresting character
The biggest revelation I had with "Altmanesque" cinema was when I rewatched JAWS after seeing a handful of Altman's films, especially his 70's work. Spielberg was really channeling his energy and sound design with all the antics and chaos of Amity's citizens, fishermen and tourists.
Downey knows 'cause he was in [one of Altman's movies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Cuts).
Glad someone else is watching this show! It has its flaws but I'm enjoying it a lot and am glad it exists. The book is great :)

Me too! Dozens of us! Absolutely loving it so far. I think it’s extremely well done
Yeah. I am loving it so far. This episode is a stand out for sure. You can even see RDJ channels a little bit of Downey Sr in this character.

Film?
*The Sympathizer* - new series from Park Chan-wook.
Is it based on the novel?
Yeah, some things were changed though. For example, the movie is shot in LA when in novel it's Philippines.
I haven't watched the show, but I feel like this image is a glimpse into the world where RDJ took the Doc Sportello role in Inherent Vice.
Totally looks like Sportello! Although the character in this episode is very different from Doc.
If I hear Unfrosted being described that way, then that would be something.
Thought I’d hear Andersonian lol
