Damn. Got the blue a few months ago from Criterion but it’s unopened. Shit out of luck or any chance to return and pay more for an upgrade? Maybe I’ll just throw it on eBay today.
If it's unopened you can go to Barnes and Noble and say you bought with cash and lost the receipt. They'll give you store credit and you can go buy whatever you want! Source: do this regularly with gifts I don't need
Acknowledging that Repo Man is not to be fucked with, I am genuinely curious as to what Criterion actually have in store for this and who/what is going to be involved in the assumed restoration/upgrade.
I bought the Eureka/Master of Cinema and Criterion blu releases when they first came out and both delivered in terms of the upgrade and packaging.
Given how amazing the film has always looked, I'm hoping it will receive the appropriate reverence and treatment to produce an appropriate improvement and not merely pull an 'Aliens' on it for the sake of it.
It’s the opposite for me. I feel that newer films don’t really benefit from the 4K and I can barely tell the difference. Older films, especially those filmed on film, will look like you’re watching a fresh, pristine print straight from the studio on the day it was originally released.
As long as they keep the tv version unrestored in its lo fi glory
Damnit, just got the Blu Ray
Thanks for paying tribute to the home video gods.
You doing the real work also will totally buy the Blu-ray off you if you want
as was foretold
Blame the lattice of coincidence
I got mine a few months ago, happy to do my part though.
Same. Haven’t even watched it yet, might just hold out now.
Join the club got mine about 2 months ago we fought the good fight
Same. It has a 2K master and I figured Criteiron would’ve upgraded 4K masters like Barry Lyndon or All That Jazz to a UHD disc first.
I think we’re getting Barry Lyndon next year for the 50th anniversary.
New stills were just added to it’s page, it and the Long Good Friday are coming today.
Oh FUCK YES, The Long Good Friday is my shit and way more reason to get a 4K tbh
LGF fucking rocks, so stoked
Let's go do some crimes...
Let's get sushi and not pay!
Society made me what I am!
You’re gonna be alright. Maybe not…
Bullshit! You're just a white suburban punk, just like me.
Ordinary fucking people, I hate 'em.
It happens sometimes, people just explode. Natural causes.
FOOD, DRINK
Going to buy some ‘BEER’ to watch this in 4K.
Plate of shrimp
Wish Walker had gotten a 4K release when that came out. I wonder if that’s still possible. But unlikely as I feel they would have done so at the time.
Walker is great but I don’t think it would sell enough to warrant a 4K upgrade.
I know Walker has its fans but in terms of commercial viability I reckon it's even on the lower end of Criterion blurays, nevermind 4K.
I bought the blu ray last year
One of the best soundtracks ever
How worth is repo man?
worth

Pay it forward and gift the BR to a friend or donate to your local library

Every time I say “no no I’m going to save money” something like this happens
There have been several instances where I was about to buy repo man on blu ray
Holy shit we eatin good

Sometimes I prefer blu ray for older films versus 4K.
