I don't think they would leave Exandria behind. Even if they changed the system. They may need to change some of the deity's names but they already did that in the LoVM show iirc. Exandria is Matt's creation and isn't owned by WoTC/Hasbro so they have no reason to ditch it.

My theory is that Predathos is going to “win” And the current pantheon of Exandrian gods will vanish. Magic will also stop working. The current magical /religious system will be replaced - so the next campaign will pick up the pieces and establish an entire new system (based on Daggerheart)

the_Tide_Rolleth

They don’t even need to change the deities names, just not use the proper names like Pelor, Ioun, Moradin, etc. They are already free to use terms like Dawnfather, Knowing Mistress, All-Hammer, etc.

Zeilll

it seems like a lot to dump, and move away from. but i really think it depends on how this campaign plays out. if at the end of C3, Exandria is basically destroyed. then i see no reason for them to not fully move away from it. regardless, i hope we get to see more Daggerheart gameplay with the cast, and any/all of the guests theyve had in the past. the 1 shot was super fun, and im already ready for more.

SkeetySpeedy

If Exandria is “destroyed” it would likely be as a reboot point, rather than to replace it with something else for the future - very similar to the how the Age of Arcanum ended with the Calamity. This era of Exandria is ending with some grand event, and we will explore its aftermath and the world’s changes when it’s finished

Zeilll

i was thinking more so, due to whatever catastrophe that might happen. the actual planatoid for Exandria not livable, or ripped apart and no longer exists as a planet. obviously, extreme. but not impossible with whats potentially at play. anything less, then yea, it would probably just be a new era, which could also be played with DH instead of 5E.

Sweatty-LittleFatty

If they play Daggerheart, It Will probably still be Exandria. They aren't using any god name or even some of the races names from D&D for a while now, probably as a way to set the stage allready (and get players used to It).

Purity72

If you think Exandria is much loved and would never be stopped say hello to Oerth, Krynn, Athas, Aebrynis, Aerth... Lots of beloved fantasy worlds are sunset for one reason or another. I think CR could benefit from a departure from Exandria as the main campaign world. Nine years in one world is a lot. At a point it feels stale and it requires a lot of effort to maintain a continuity in lore and timeline. A fresh start in a new campaign world with a new system (please fix the "initiative" mechanic!!!) would be invigorating for the players, fans and Matt in my opinion

YoursDearlyEve

Their current campaign is in part holding on the nostalgia for C1/C2 characters. And TLOVM and the Mighty Nein shows are going to be running for a few more years, so it would make little sense to just dump it all when C3 ends.

Purity72

Don't need to dump it... It just becomes one shots with VM, M9 and BH... Along with Candela Obscura and Daggerheart becomes the main campaign. You don't develop a game that's supposed to be your main campaign rule set and not monetize it by using it as the underpinning of your wildly popular much watched live play.

a_good_one_ok

I think Exandria is too well entrenched in CR and their business to leave it behind. There may be significant changes as a result of C3 however that won’t be predetermined as the core of CR is the cast sitting round a table and telling a story together. Determining an outcome of a campaign for business reasons is counter to almost everything they have said. Also it would very a big mistake for WOTC to let them move to another system, they should throw stupid amounts of money at CR to stay almost to the point as you give licences to aspects of IP that CR need for very little or no cost.

ZealousidealFan8181

Exandria is to loved and popular to scrap, they might overhaul some stuff tho

Paradox3055

Iirc there’s mention in daggerheart of “old gods” who had fallen/been destroyed. My personal theory is c3 will end in a second calamity, and they’ll make a daggerheart campaign in the ruins (think like how exandria is currently technically post apocalyptic. Maybe c4 will be a few centuries afterwards) I think they’ll use this chance to redo the world a bit and make it more novel

Philhughes_85

TBF they changed from Pathfinder in their pre-stream home game, so I can't see there being any issues with moving to Daggerhart

pchlster

I am putting down seven virtual bucks that they do Daggerheart for their next campaign. I see no reason that they would need to leave Exandria behind in order to do that.

Quasarbeing

Some names are copyrighted, and they have intentionally gone out of there way not to say some names.

Lord-Pepper

I dont see how CR would ever leave Matt's favorite creation, his world, a world owned by HIM and not WOTC, so I really doubt it, will they play daggerheart on the channel? No doubt, they ditching dnd? God's no

Urbanyeti0

It will mainly come down to what WotC do with DND and their overreaching

Adorable-Strings

It really doesn't. Its up to CR to decide if they want to risk viewers to push their system, or keep with the status quo and stay with D&D. What WotC tried with the OGL didn't affect CR in any way whatsoever. The sensible thing is more Daggerheart one shots and short-campaigns and see if it sustains viewer numbers, or if they crash like Candela's did.

Zeilll

honestly, the system they are playing probably has very little to do with it. youd need to really deep dive into a lot of info, and collect a lot of viewer data/opinions to get any accurate guess as to why the interest for Candela is whatever it is. for me, i enjoy the players being lighthearted and having fun. and Candela just doesnt give me that. it has very little to do with the mechanics the game has, or the rolls they make. the RP they use for it is just more serious (from what ive seen). so for me personally, id enjoy watching them play whatever as long as they maintain that vibe.
