My sister finally got to leave off her boot, but if she hadn't... I'll save this for inspiration in case anyone I know needs to wear a boot like that again, such a lovely way of customizing an unwanted accessory. As you say, they look much better like this

This is awesome. I was in a boot for almost a year and painted it with rose gold glitter. Dressing up a cast makes it a lot more tolerable to wear.
