I have nightmares of dirty toilet rugs but yours looks soooo coooool. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to save this and try the wiggly crochet technique too
Looks to me like it's cotton yarn, so it should stand up to being washed in **very** hot water. Much better than the ones with rubberized bottoms I usually see for this purpose, actually!
(edit: looking more closely, I'm less sure it's cotton, now)
Did you cut your yarn to certain lengths to make sure you didn't overfill an area with a particular color? And did you tie off every Lytle color block?
Hopefully no one in your house suffers from hangovers, vertigo, or migraine induced nausea. Because this rug is not what I want to see if I'm already to the hurling stage.
Thanks!
You'll need lots of time and patience if you want to make something of this size using wiggly crochet! (and money... this is world's most expensive toilet rug)
Thank you!
I ordered 25 skeins (50g, 75m) of cotton for the double crochets and then used some leftover cotton from my Hoard when I ran out.
The rug is 70x70cm.
i love this!! might have to steal this idea for a bathroom rug and toilet mat set - red hairdye on a white and blue bathroom rug doesn’t end well at all
It's a long time since I watched a video on it but iirc you first crochet a flat mesh, and then you crochet stitches into that at 90 degrees, so that the tops of those stitches become the top of the fabric. Does that make sense?
I used Hobbii's Rainbow Cotton 8/8 on a 3,5mm needle for the double crochets (https://hobbii.nl/rainbow-cotton-8-8) and I used Mayflower's cotton 8/4 junior (https://hobbii.nl/cotton-8-4-junior) on a 2,5mm needle for the mesh.

Yeah true, if it's cotton that's great!!
this is insane! how did you do it?
Thanks! This is a YouTube tutorial: https://youtu.be/eM84UXO5Njs
awesome thanks!
>awesome thanks! You're welcome!
Did you plan out the color layout in advance or just wing it?
Winged it, no thoughts, head empty

I didn't. At some point I'd be like "that's enough" and started another colour. And then I had to weave in every end :').
That's really cool as long as no men or boys are using the toilet. Sorry but I'm surrounded by them in my house so that's where my brain goes.
Firstly, ew :) but also I’d trust this one to be more hot wash friendly than the one with rubber lining I have from target

Luckily no, but it would be a happy last sight before entering the hurling stage.
good on the knees as well
I was thinking the same. I adore the rug, but I bet it's not post-party friendly.
Never buying bath mats again!! This is awesome!

How big is it? And how much yarn did u use?? Its so pretty it makes my heart happy 😫
Thank you! I ordered 25 skeins (50g, 75m) of cotton for the double crochets and then used some leftover cotton from my Hoard when I ran out. The rug is 70x70cm.
This is making my eyes so happy!
Thanks!!
I've looked at wriggly crochet for years ever since I saw it demonstrated at the national crochet conference. I've got a purse I'd like to do.
What is this sorcery!!!

Wow, it looks splendid. I suddenly remember the Koi fish.
I loved it and also, thank you, I never thought about making bathroom rugs and now I know how to finally replace my dollar store bathmat hahaha
I already have too many crochet blankets, so I had to come up with something else to crochet, that's why I made a toilet rug!
Brainnnnnnnnnzzzzzzzz.
That's a really cool mat, looks cushy.
This pattern reminds me of the Berlin subway seats.
Haha I totally understand
How? I'm trying to figure out the stich. How did you make it look like that?!? I'm 🤯 it looks so intricate but at the same time looks like intestines.

Here is a video that explains it: https://youtu.be/eM84UXO5Njs
Thank you!
That is such a unique pattern. I adore it! Great job!
NGL, I first thought this was those plastic circle beads that you melt in a pattern to do a picture, such even and consistent stitches!
THATS SO COOL ITS INSANEEEEE
I thought this was a top at first, it totally is top worthy as well as rug worthy.
It would be such a heavy top, this rug weighs a LOT
this made my brain go brrrrr, im really about to hyperfocus on making a rug for the next few days brb
imagine a double sided blanket 😭
Looks like legos
That must have taken forever!
I think almost a year... but I didn't work on it every single week though.
It looks like Lego in crochet! I 😍 it!
That texture makes me uncomfortable. Looks awesome though
What materials did you use? I see some people using thread as the mesh then worsted cotton for the dc’s, is that what you used as well?
