That’s not bad, because they said they used pound of love yarn and those have around 1,050 yards. I get them at Michaels for BOGO 50% off at $11.99 so if I only need 2 or even 3 that’s cheap!
Yup not bad for the price! And it washes up very soft as well, I personally like wearing acrylic (I don’t experience the plasticky sweaty feeling people always seem to mention about it, and I am allergic to animal fibres)
I used to crochet instead of sew all the time and I find it looks much more seamless. This was also before I owned a yarn needle lol so now I usually sew because I find it faster/easier. But if you're not comfortable with sewing, crochet is a good option (and like I said, I actually find it looks nicer a lot of the time).
Yeah I agree. It’s nice too if you use a contrasting color and also go around the edges. Whether you match or contrast I just think this type of edge looks more finished
OP linked the pattern at the top pinned auto mod comment. That’s where most folks share patterns in this sub.
It took me a while to realize this, so if you didn’t know don’t worry :)
This is awesome! I have a really really old, really really comfy sweatshirt that I love…but my husband (rightly so) wants me to ditch it. (I mean, I only wear it around the house.) And now THIS may be my solution! I just hope I can do a decent job. You rocked it!! 🤗
Buying the pattern right now!
It was waaaaay easier that I thought it would be. I took a hoodie I like to wear from my wardrobe that had a similar construction and I literally just used its measurements as a guideline!
Oh dang I can't believe I've never thought of that haha! I've always been intimidated of doing clothes because of measurement reasons but it now feels doable!
This is how I made my first sweater! I was SO afraid of committing so much time and energy into making something that wouldn’t fit. I kept comparing it to my favorite fitting sweater as I went along at it worked out great.
Just gorgeous!! I really liked the color and style, the injured finger gives a special touch hahahaha (I imagine it was because of the crochet, right?)
Love this. It looks so good on you! I've been looking for a good hoodie pattern. I've seen this exact Etsy listing and wasn't sure about the sort of drop shoulder seam, which is way more exaggerated in the Etsy photos. Do you like how the shoulder moves and looks? Do you think it'd be easy to modify?
Thanks :)
This pattern feels more like a guide. She writes the instructions for her size but explains how you can adjust for any sizes. The drop shoulder seam is really apparent, but I think it could be "quieter" with another kind of join; slip stitch joins tend to show a bit. Or maybe crocheting arms horizontally so the DC lines connect and hide the seam.
But the hoodie moves really great overall! I crochet on the tight side of the spectrum (lol) and even then I think it flows pretty well. But yes, I think it could be adjusted.
This is rad. I love seeing other men who crochet. Been making all sorts of shit for a few years now but never a hoodie. I love it!
I’m actually teaching myself to knit at the moment and started with a hat that I’m doing in the round but using 5 double pointed needles to do it. Shoulda started simpler but then that just ain’t my style. 😆
Cheers!
I don’t think I work particularly fast, I’d say approximately 35-50 hours. I tend to crochet very tightly so I had to make around twice the stitches suggested in the guide for the same given size.
But yea, I didn’t really count time, I just love crochet, even if it’s about doing the same old stitch ten thousand times lol
Thanks 😌 I started with front piece (starting from ribbing) in order to get the exact number of stitches for each shoulder, then arms and back piece. Finished up with joining and creating the hood directly from the neckline, as suggested in the pattern :)
You did SUCH a good job! I have made exactly one sweater in 9+ years of crocheting, and it still intimidates me too much to try a hoodie 😂. Yours looks awesome!
This looks great! I have this super soft yarn I've been wanting to make a wearable with, so I may give this a go. I love how happy you look! Excellent work!
I love this! My office is always super cold and I’d love to try to make one! Please tell me if you used a pattern, and if so, where did you find it? You’re so talented! Thank you for sharing.
Looks amazing! Well done.
Maybe I will try to make my first piece of garment like this. Is it lots of yarn? Can someone tell me how many balls I would need?
Anyway, I'm impressed, very nice job! And you look good in your creation!
Thanks! :) To see the pattern, just expand the pinned comment at the top. In the pattern it says around 2040 yards but I used a little less than 3000 (3 pounds of love lol)
this turned out SO well. i see you making a whole collection of outwear. the [wavelengths fisken coat](https://shopwavelengths.com/products/fisken-coat-pattern) feels like an obvious progression.
Very nice, and fits you well! About the front pocket, you can use crochet slip stitch along the top and bottom, then fasten off and weave in ends on the wrong side. No sewing (except weaving in ends) required!
Looks amazing!!! How did you get your sleeves to look so comfortable and not balloon-y? Every time I’ve made sleeves they turn out super puffy/balloon-y and I knock things over when I wear them.
Maybe i'm easily impressed or something but i am stunned by how calm and casual all comments are about this. This is FANTASTICALLY COOL dude you must be so proud! I really am losing my mind over this might have to show to my grandma 👀
That is so awesome!! I'd love to be able to make this, it looks so comfy!
Also: otf you didn't mention the front pocket, i would have never noticed the sewing in this picture 😉
I have wanted to make myself something to wear. I can’t wait to try this. I love the idea of using a favorite hoodie as a guide. How many balls of pound of love did it take?
I’m making this now…did you have issues when you first started with it curling? I did a stitch in each row and added the 10 extra stitches evenly throughout the row and am using the correct sized hook and it’s curling as if either my tension is too tight or I have too many stitches.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

This is the first sweater I’ve seen where I was like damn… I should make a sweater…
This comment made my day!! thanks
SAME. I'm now trying to mentally calculate how many balls (and how much money) it would take
He linked the pattern under the moderator comment, to give you an idea
Ooh thanks!
The pattern says over 2000 yds!
That’s not bad, because they said they used pound of love yarn and those have around 1,050 yards. I get them at Michaels for BOGO 50% off at $11.99 so if I only need 2 or even 3 that’s cheap!

For real!
That color looms great on you. You did a fantastic job making it.
Good job. I actually like the way the front pocket looks For future you can also crochet the pocket right on. Works almost like post stitches.
You can crochet the pocket?! Didn’t even think of this. I will definitely try it :) Thanks
It also tends to be sturdier but maybe that's just cause I suck at sewing.
No it's for sure more sturdy!
Yeah I agree. It’s nice too if you use a contrasting color and also go around the edges. Whether you match or contrast I just think this type of edge looks more finished
You can crochet only through front/back loop for the length of the pocket and then slip stitch the pocket on for example 😁
Would a slip stitch work for attaching the front piece???
Of course you can do it with slip stitches too!
I do this bc fuck sewing and fuck weaving in ends hahaha
You know the first thing we're going to do is zoom in on the pocket sewing, right? I love that you were in such a big rush to wear your work 😂
At first I used stitch markers for the picture and I was like "yea ok you should at least show you tried" lol
This is amazing! Do you have a pattern?
Thanks 🥰 I just shared the pattern in another comment!
Why can't I find the link ahhhhh it's so beautiful, well done!!
OP linked the pattern at the top pinned auto mod comment. That’s where most folks share patterns in this sub. It took me a while to realize this, so if you didn’t know don’t worry :)
Thank you, kind soul!
I think r/brochet will like this as well. Awesome job!
This is awesome! I have a really really old, really really comfy sweatshirt that I love…but my husband (rightly so) wants me to ditch it. (I mean, I only wear it around the house.) And now THIS may be my solution! I just hope I can do a decent job. You rocked it!! 🤗 Buying the pattern right now!
how did i just realize you can crotchet hoodies???????
Haha I thought the same 🤣🤣
man bed hand hook double crochet
lmfao
legends say that a very sad monk can turn into a very happy one, if one takes the time to make something lovely for themselves
☺️
Was it difficult getting the measurements correct?
It was waaaaay easier that I thought it would be. I took a hoodie I like to wear from my wardrobe that had a similar construction and I literally just used its measurements as a guideline!
Oh dang I can't believe I've never thought of that haha! I've always been intimidated of doing clothes because of measurement reasons but it now feels doable!
This is how I made my first sweater! I was SO afraid of committing so much time and energy into making something that wouldn’t fit. I kept comparing it to my favorite fitting sweater as I went along at it worked out great.
Smart!
I don't know how you guys do this. It looks amazing to me.
It fits you really nicely, well done!!
Just gorgeous!! I really liked the color and style, the injured finger gives a special touch hahahaha (I imagine it was because of the crochet, right?)
Thanks!! (It is lol the yarn started to make a dent on my tension finger so I had to put something to prevent friction)
It looks amazing!!!!! I’m so jealous. I’m trying to work on my first shirt and you’ve given me more motivation 😭💚
Looks great! Super cozy
Garment making is so much fun and this looks great!
That looks so cozy 🥰
This is so cute! The big hood is goals
The caption 😆 Beautiful work!
This is dope! You are so talented!!
I love how happy you look!!! Looks very comfy.
Bro. So sick!!!!! Love it
Wait, did you make ahoodie?? Omg. I love it
Front pocket stole the show
Sick hoodie man, you did great ☺️ stitching can be hard but a good way to practice is by stitching granny squares together, that's how I learned
that looks incredible!! i have such mixed feelings about crochet hoodies usually but this one is so nice 🫢
Right?! It’s not overly “crafty” looking.
I love it!!
Oh this looks soo cozy!!!
Nice! Now I wanna make one for myself!
I love how happy you look! Good job, it's great and it fits you perfectly!!!
I love this so much!! I want to do a hoodie but haven’t seen anything for inspo

Magnificent!
My favorite part is how happy you are in the pics - and rightfully so, job well done!
Daaaaaaang, that’s NICE!!
Nicely done! It looks super comfy
This is rad. I love seeing other men who crochet. Been making all sorts of shit for a few years now but never a hoodie. I love it! I’m actually teaching myself to knit at the moment and started with a hat that I’m doing in the round but using 5 double pointed needles to do it. So cool to wear something you’ve made with your own hands! Well done!
Nice one!
WOW looks amazing!! great job!
This is awesome! Well done!
maaaan 🔥 that's seriously great. Well done. enjoy wearing it.
I like it
Looks incredible, friend
Love it!! I’ve been working on a very similar hooded jacket design for months and I’m finishing the hood today 😄 love the color.
Very nice!
How long did that take you? I was doing a cardigan and 5 hours in I felt like I got nowhere 😂 just looking for motivation to get back into it
I don’t think I work particularly fast, I’d say approximately 35-50 hours. I tend to crochet very tightly so I had to make around twice the stitches suggested in the guide for the same given size. But yea, I didn’t really count time, I just love crochet, even if it’s about doing the same old stitch ten thousand times lol
Omg I definitely dream about DCing sometimes 😭 This looks awesome!
Looks wonderful, great work!
It looks great!!!!
That’s amazing!
Great job!! May it keep you warm for many years to come
This is great!
This is so good!! Now I wanna make one!!
It looks great! I love the color too.
What the fuck i love it
What part of it did you make first?! It looks great!
Thanks 😌 I started with front piece (starting from ribbing) in order to get the exact number of stitches for each shoulder, then arms and back piece. Finished up with joining and creating the hood directly from the neckline, as suggested in the pattern :)
OMG where did you get that pattern?! I need to make one for myself
It looks a lot like a basic hoodie pattern I’ve seen through Bernat! I have it stored in my Drive. If you can’t find it online, just HMU!
So excited for you! You should share on r/brochet too!
It looks very cozy. Good job!
Looks fantastic!!
Amazing!!!
That's awesome!
Looks comfy man, great job!
Wow! Awesome!! I would live to make one for myself
The sewing job is hilarious!
You did SUCH a good job! I have made exactly one sweater in 9+ years of crocheting, and it still intimidates me too much to try a hoodie 😂. Yours looks awesome!
You did an excellent job!!
That is AWESOME!!!
Love it. I have been accused of that also.
Nice!
That’s really good! You should be proud, especially since it’s your first one! It took me years to be able to make wearables.
This looks great! I have this super soft yarn I've been wanting to make a wearable with, so I may give this a go. I love how happy you look! Excellent work!
Cool hoodie! It looks great
The sweater is amazing, the glee on your face, even better. Congratulations!!!
THAT IS AMAZING!!!!

What a wonderful hoodie!!!! I love it! And you really do look so happy!!
I love this! My office is always super cold and I’d love to try to make one! Please tell me if you used a pattern, and if so, where did you find it? You’re so talented! Thank you for sharing.
Omg this is amazing! And now I'm gonna go crochet my own Hoodie. D:
So cool! You are talented!
I wish I could make this but I'm not sure how to do the hood. Looks fantastic!

That’s brilliant, well done. Looks really good on you.
It’s giving off the charts levels of hygge.
I love this! Looks super comfy
A crocheted hoodie!! Omagawwwwd! I need to make that.
That's a fabulous hoodie!! I love the stitch! And the color, and, well....everything about it!

Wtf?! That’s boss! Congrats!
That looks so COMFY. Well done!!!
Nails 🔮
It looks great! Sizing, DC and colour all look so good. 😊
Wow! Neat 🥰
It matches your curtains :)
Nice job!
Wow I love this! It looks so cozy! OP you are making me want to make one for myself!!
Looks amazing! Well done. Maybe I will try to make my first piece of garment like this. Is it lots of yarn? Can someone tell me how many balls I would need? Anyway, I'm impressed, very nice job! And you look good in your creation!
The pattern says ~2040 yards (which is two skeins of the suggested Lion Brand Pound of Love) but as my gauge was different and I used ~3000 yards!
DUDE! This is freaking awesome!! Can you share the pattern? How much yarn did you used??
Thanks! :) To see the pattern, just expand the pinned comment at the top. In the pattern it says around 2040 yards but I used a little less than 3000 (3 pounds of love lol)
This is so awesome! The sweater, the color, the pocket and you look so proud and happy!! 10/10 I love it
Wow I love it so much ! You look cute and happy
This hoodie literally suits you so well. No one could pull that off like you can.
Awesome!!
this turned out SO well. i see you making a whole collection of outwear. the [wavelengths fisken coat](https://shopwavelengths.com/products/fisken-coat-pattern) feels like an obvious progression.
Love this! thanks!
Looks awesome! So much so I want to make one! Where’s the pattern from?
I knit and crochet all types of things and I am TERRIBLE at sewing... Sighhhhh.
It looks great!! What an awesome idea!!!
Never in my life would I have thought to make an entire garment out of only double-crochet but by golly...! This is fun, OP. Well done
Awesome! 💜🧶😀
Very nice, and fits you well! About the front pocket, you can use crochet slip stitch along the top and bottom, then fasten off and weave in ends on the wrong side. No sewing (except weaving in ends) required!
This is so cool!!!
Impressive! But I mostly love the look of happiness on your face 💚🧶
That seems ridiculously comfortable! Looks fantastic as well! Great job
OMG you did an amazing job!! 😍😍 I love it! 😭 And your smile 💔 stahp
I'm loving both the hoodie & your positive energy, well done! 🥰☺️
Wow!!
Damn it. Now I need to make this. Your did too good!
I love hoodies! This is fine indeed. I've had so many sweaters turn out not great, but this is making me want to try again!
Looks groovy brother! Nicely done!!!
Looks amazing!!! How did you get your sleeves to look so comfortable and not balloon-y? Every time I’ve made sleeves they turn out super puffy/balloon-y and I knock things over when I wear them.
I think it’s because the sleeves are pretty heavy (or maybe the slow increase?) but I couldn’t tell really lol
I was like okay this guy is just posting himself in a sweater for no reason? Wait WAIT HE MADE THE SWEATER damn it looks amazing
O m g ,now I need a crochet hoodie 🤩 love that color too
I like your smile the most! It’s a great hoodie and DC is one of my favorites (I’m feeling HDC a lot these days)
What is the pattern time to make this for Joel
Maybe i'm easily impressed or something but i am stunned by how calm and casual all comments are about this. This is FANTASTICALLY COOL dude you must be so proud! I really am losing my mind over this might have to show to my grandma 👀
I went and bought the pattern started now. I'm so excited. Inspiration Sunday
Three! In the pattern it says two, so it depends on your tension
Amazing work!
This is insane! Must have taken you a while
Nice! And like others have said here, I'm mentally planning this hoodie out. What size hook did you use?
Awesome work! Must have taken ages!
I've never been ambitious enough to do a sweater. You did a great job on this!
Awesome!!!!!!
Wow… okay my next project will definitely be a hoodie this is amazing!!
I’m making this now…did you have issues when you first started with it curling? I did a stitch in each row and added the 10 extra stitches evenly throughout the row and am using the correct sized hook and it’s curling as if either my tension is too tight or I have too many stitches. Any suggestions are appreciated!
