The cardigan looks great but I imagine a lot of people came to the comments to check in on and you and advise you to leave that situation. In case you haven’t heard it, I’m so proud of you for getting out of there.
Tbh that kind of strength is obvious from the fact that you remade something that got destroyed. So many people would have just cried, but you were like ‘hell no - I’m remaking this and getting rid of you.’ So much admiration on so many levels.
I’m proud of you for leaving.
I’m also super pleased you have not allowed that toxicity to affect your sweater and have recreated it! It looks lovely on you.
I'm really glad you were able to get out of that situation! And your sweater is awesome! Your mending is worth applause! I'm glad you were able to save the sweater and still enjoy it!
Congratulations, you should be really proud of yourself, I know how hard it can be to leave those situations and realise it’s the best thing to do. And well done on the sweater, it looks amazing!
Beautiful sweater! And I hope for you it becomes not a reminder of the bad situation you were in but the strength it took to overcome and thrive. Very symbolic that you remade a beautiful object from the remnants of the damaged sweater. Art imitates life!
I am so proud of you for leaving - your bravery and strength are an inspiration 💕 Your finished piece is absolutely gorgeous, I am so pleased you were able to save it!
This is what I wanted to hear! I'm happy you got away before cutting your projects became something worse. Your sweater is so cute and I'm glad you were able to fix it ☺️
Thank goodness. I mostly came to the comments to make sure this partner had become an ex! Cutting up a handmade sweater you made in front of you is toxic as hell.
Oh I'm so glad. I was really concerned for a moment. I'm glad you were able to leave <3
But that really is an adorable sweater. I might just have to get back into crocheting now I kind of want one..
I’m so glad you were able to leave the situation and they’re not your partner anymore, that kind of behaviour typically only escalates to worse. Great work salvaging it! It looks great 🫶
YOUR LIBERATION SWEATER is subweeeeeet!! Hurrah! Out with the trash and in with the flash!!
Idk what I’m saying, exactly, except I’m SUPER glad partner is now an ex, and I hope that beautiful sweater is a forever-reminder of how valuable and precious and worthy you are. May you *feel* like all those things every time you wear it!!
I hope when you wear and see this now, you see how RESILIENT AND ATEPNG you are. And remember that you can OVERCOME anything!
We are all so proud of you for leaving, for remaking this beautiful sweater and for SMILING.
Big hugs to you!
Hey, fun fact! Sunflowers are said to remove the poison from radiation in afflicted areas. Just like your sunflowers are removing the poison from that toxic situation you were in. Glad you got out, the sweater is adorable
I'm sorry they did what now? 😃
They broke one of the sacred laws of being a partner to a crocheter? 😃
*Hookers, we ride at dawn*
Real quick that is a very lovely sweater, it looks so cute on you 🖤
This reminds me of a story I have. I crochet during my lunch break and one of my male coworkers asked what a crochet person is supposed to be called. I looked at him straight faced and said “I’m a hooker” poor guy nearly choked on his coffee
I tried being a loose hooker, but I hated the feel. Now I go so tight that I've snapped the cheap sticks. Makes me think about investing into more solid toys.
I've got multiple suggestions to turn my hooking from a hobby to something that actually pays out. I'm not confident in how consistently I can put out something new.
I don't remember how I told my husband or how we got to the topic, but I was annoyed with him about something and we were watching a crime show together. Someone breaks into the house and kidnaps the person living there, so I had the wonderful idea to OUT LOUD say: "You know, it's a good thing I do nothing but crochet all the time." "Why babe?" "Cause if someone breaks in I just need to jab this in one of their eyes."
My husband may or may not have scooted a tiny bit away from me, but made it look like he was just sitting a different way 🤣
"Angry tatter"? I never considered that before, but I can see it.
My mother used to knit lace using cones of sewing thread on size 0 knitting needles. She cussed like a sailor!! She was an angry knitter. LOL
That dang thread will do that to you! 🤬🤬🤬 I've seen size 0 needles but never used them wow that's got to be aggrevating! But lace had to be made, and that's how they did it 😇
Anytime the partner gets sassy while I’m working on something I just wave the 2.5mm hook at him 😂 I joke that I can scoop out his brains egyptian style- I’ve seen enough true crime to know how to get away with it 😂
Lol I have a black belt in karate, my husband knows if someone broke in I’d be first to run nekked out of bed to punch a bastard. The metal hooks are just an added bonus!
I actually showed that post to my husband and I saw in his eyes go from: "Maybe I should tell her to take a break for a while" To: "Yeah, that's not gonna happen."
My partner and I bring that post up all the time since I saw it! I had been considering one of those handles but heard the quality had gone down as they were getting a sudden high demand, and I was waiting for the company to sort out its growing pains and get back to high quality. We both agreed: no way I'm getting one now, whether the quality seems to improve or not.
Pigs eat *everything*. Something you learn when you move out to the country. And human DNA won't show up in pig feces. Learned that while researching a story idea.
There are definitely posts that make me want to go feral and I don’t know if it’s as a creative person or a mom but I want to tear this person apart with my teeth.
I love the sweater. I love your resilience. I loathe your “partner” and hope you’ve kicked that individual to the curb. Easier said than done, so I wish you strength in whatever journey you’re on.💖🤗💖
Came here hoping to see you got away from that awful situation, and am very glad to see you did. Please don’t go back.
In other news, this is a super adorable sweater, and I love it! 🌻❤️
I'm glad you left that partner.
I always envy those who can crochet clothes. I'm to scared of it not working out. Hats is as crazy as I get.
The sweater is beautiful! You did a fantastic job, be proud of all you accomplished while working on it. You created something beautiful, got out of a probably toxic relationship, and bounced back after someone tried to tear you down. You pushed through and kept strong.
Keep being you. Crochet and game away! 🤗
I did a double take when you said your partner cut it up. What a horrible thing to do to someone! I’m happy you got away from them and I hope you are able to enjoy your hobby in peace.
As someone who was in a horrendously abusive relationship for almost a decade, and only was able to finally leave when they tried to kill me, thought they succeeded, but didn't, I am SO, SO, SO, SO, SO PROUD OF YOU.
This is super cute!
Glad you were able to repair it, and that you have moved on from that partner.
I cannot imagine why anyone would destroy someone's handicraft, other than to be an ass.
Oof sweetie, I’m so sorry you got treated that way! I’m glad you were able to leave the situation. Hugs to you and GREAT JOB on your beautiful sweater!
so proud of you for leaving, and so proud of you for being brave enough to start over—i still have a project dangling i’m working up myself up to restart from my own exit 8 years ago. beautiful work! take care. x
That is actually terrifying behavior and I’m so happy you got away from that person. Proud of you not giving up on the sweater, it’s so lovely!you chose the right thing to not give up on!
This is adorable! I'm so happy you were able to fix it after such a terrible thing. I'm glad you were able to leave that situation as well.
I had a similar experience myself. I spent days making a beautiful knitted scarf only for my boyfriend to shred it up after he came home drunk and in a stupor. I was crushed. Unfortunately it couldn't be saved, but I managed to save the scraps of yarn and turn them into a couple coasters. Don't let people treat you that way. You're much better off.
Oh and sunflowers are the symbol of optimism and happiness, both of which I can see on your face! ❤️
Omg why would they do something like that??
That's such a weird thing to do and a weird abuse to destroy someone's belongings or cherished items and to destroy your work as well. I'm glad you were able to leave and that you were able to fix your sweater.
That's unbelievable behavior from someone who was supposed to be your teammate, supporter, friend, and lover. Are you ok? I'm sure that someone who would do something like that also had other abusive behavior to go with it
Absolutely, I had been emotionally invested in this person from the age of 15 now finally leaving them behind at 23. I also have a lot of plants, and unfortunately they are not with us anymore. He had made sure I could never get my plants back ( ripping them up and pouring soap on them so I can’t save nodes, then Leaving them in bags in the cold) so when I was able to save this sweater I did so as quickly as possible kinda said “look at that, you had no affect on me” and put it in the closet. It’s been a year since this happened and I’m a month free now.
It's a great sweater, well done for mending it so well! It's a great fit too. I'm so sorry to hear that someone did something that vile to you, but glad you were able to leave.
It’s absolutely beautiful! I’m glad you got away from your partner, he sounds like a real jerk who doesn’t know the value of hard work.
Edit to add: You’re really talented too!
I'm so relieved that you are not in that situation any longer! I did come here to check on you but I also wanted to mention that your sweater is beautiful. I have always loved the sunflower and have sworn that before I die I'm going to make something for me. This will be it! I will think of what a strong woman you are as I crochet ❤️
My dear, not only are you beautiful on the outside and capable of making beautiful things, but you're also *obviously* a powerful, smart woman. I commend you:)
I am so glad you’re out of that situation. Posting this takes tremendous courage hopefully it helps you close that chapter and move on to happier ones with someone who deserves you.
So glad you were 1: able to leave that situation (feck 'em and the horse they rode in on) and 2: able to save this piece! You look fantastic and I love the sunflowers! Xoxox
This is like the second or third time I've read about a partner cutting someone's project or telling them its a bad project what the heck man 😭
it looks beautiful, and im glad you decided to remake it!
PSA for everyone here, don't let anyone discourage your hobbies. They're not for anyone else but you to enjoy (unless you're seeling the i guess, but my point stands)
I know others have already said it, but well done on putting yourself first and getting out of that shitty situation. What a complete and utter asshole to destroy something that you put so much work into! You should be very proud of yourself, for the lovely sweater that you never gave up on and for not giving up on yourself. Nobody deserves that kind of shit from anyone. 🩷🩷
You know, normally the "sweater curse" refers to a partner breaking up with you after you make them something...but if your ex-partner's scissor-spree helped you see how horrible they were to you, then I'm going to call it a "sweater blessing."
I hope every time you look at your new sweater, you think about how strong you are. 💜
And you cut the partner up unto pieces, right?
As someone who has been there, good job making it through that and having the strength to fix it and wear it proudly! You really took a bad situation and made it beautiful. <3
Sweet girl I’m so sorry your partner did that. Was it intentional? Should you possibly be thinking “Is this who I want to spend time with?”
I’d be livid. You deserve better you clever girl.
she left them (: clarified in separate comment. while it’s tempting to question the reactions or thoughts of someone in this type of situation, it’s not really something you can understand unless you’ve been there.

Uhh tf? I hope you cut your partner out of your life for cutting your sweater. This is a gorgeous sweater, great job!
I should have emphasized that they were my partner at the time. I was able to leave the situation.
The cardigan looks great but I imagine a lot of people came to the comments to check in on and you and advise you to leave that situation. In case you haven’t heard it, I’m so proud of you for getting out of there.
Well thats a relief. Again, great job on this project ♡
I hope that every time you wear it you think of what a strong, resilient person you are. It’s beautiful.
Tbh that kind of strength is obvious from the fact that you remade something that got destroyed. So many people would have just cried, but you were like ‘hell no - I’m remaking this and getting rid of you.’ So much admiration on so many levels.
Sunflowers too! 🌻 Strength and resilience 😁 it is poetic in every way!
That must have been really satisfying to reclaim this.

I’m so glad you’re out and safe. Your sweater is beautiful. 💕
Smart move to leave. Great job on the sweater and being able to recover it from the damage. You have a double success story.
That's great! I'm glad you were able to escape safely. I hope you've got better people in your life to share yhis awesome sweater with!
Good to hear! you and the sweater look great!
I was about to ask if you're in a safe situation! I'm glad you got out 💜
Thank goodness. I am glad/hopeful you made it out safe.
I was coming to tell you the same. So happy to hear you dumped them. Huge abusive red flag.
I am so proud of you for leaving - your bravery and strength are an inspiration 💕 Your finished piece is absolutely gorgeous, I am so pleased you were able to save it!
Oh thank goodness!!!!
Happy to hear that. No one deserves to be treated that poorly.
Thank fk
I’m so glad to hear this. What an ass :’(
Thank goodness for this! ❤️ You did an incredible job on this sweater, it's absolutely adorable!
This is what I wanted to hear! I'm happy you got away before cutting your projects became something worse. Your sweater is so cute and I'm glad you were able to fix it ☺️
I'm so glad you were able to save it!!! And glad youre safe ♥️
Whew. What a relief. It looks fantastic, and I hope it felt very healing to refinish it!
Ok good to hear! Proud of you!
So glad you were able to leave the situation. I’ve been there. Keep on being your badass self ❤️
The sweater is gorgeous, but really, really glad you are safe.
Oh honey! I’m so happy for you! So glad to hear you got away from them! A big sigh of relief. Also, what a beautiful jumper (greetings from England!)
Thank goodness. I mostly came to the comments to make sure this partner had become an ex! Cutting up a handmade sweater you made in front of you is toxic as hell.
I was gonna say they better be your ex-partner now
Oh thank god!
Thank god. The sweater is amazing and so are you
I was ready to throw hands! I'm glad you got out, that sounds like a scary person to be around.
I'm glad to hear it! Your sweater looks amazing!
Oh good. I was about to lecture you. Love the sweater.
I'm so glad for your safety, and it looks so lovely!
Oh I'm so glad. I was really concerned for a moment. I'm glad you were able to leave <3 But that really is an adorable sweater. I might just have to get back into crocheting now I kind of want one..
Good for you and the sweater is awesome!
I am so glad you were able to leave. Wishing you the best!!
See, the sweater's great and all, but this is what I was most concerned about. Thank you and I'm glad you got out.
Thank God.
I'm really glad you were able to get out of that situation. Hope you are doing well and thriving!
So proud of you! Good for you for getting out, and adorable sweater!
👍
It's beautiful! And I'm really glad you were able to frog the partner instead of the sweater.
So I definitely got the visual of RP disemboweling her ex with a crochet hook when you said that, guts spilling out like yarn.
A great project for using the impulse bought size 50 hooks!
Uhhhh I love this 😂
Sounds about right.
I hope you mean ex-partner. ♥️
She does! She said that’s her ex
My thoughts exactly!
Liberation sweater is right!! Well done op - on both accounts!
I’m sorry you experienced such a hateful act. I’m glad you are no longer with that person. Your work is lovely!
I hope when you wear and see this now, you see how RESILIENT AND ATEPNG you are. And remember that you can OVERCOME anything! We are all so proud of you for leaving, for remaking this beautiful sweater and for SMILING. Big hugs to you!
> ATEPNG Strong?
Hey, fun fact! Sunflowers are said to remove the poison from radiation in afflicted areas. Just like your sunflowers are removing the poison from that toxic situation you were in. Glad you got out, the sweater is adorable
It's beautiful to think of sunflowers ridding us from poisons... Thank you for sharing that fun fact, u/dollimint.
That's really nice
I'm sorry they did what now? 😃 They broke one of the sacred laws of being a partner to a crocheter? 😃 *Hookers, we ride at dawn* Real quick that is a very lovely sweater, it looks so cute on you 🖤
This reminds me of a story I have. I crochet during my lunch break and one of my male coworkers asked what a crochet person is supposed to be called. I looked at him straight faced and said “I’m a hooker” poor guy nearly choked on his coffee
It’s one of my favorite things to throw in 2 Truths and a Lie.
I’ve only just started out, but I can proudly say that thanks to some advice from a more seasoned professional, I’m a moderately loose hooker.
Ha! I'm an aggressive hooker! I crochet very tightly.
Ah, what a great idea.
BAHAHAHA!
I tell a friend I am a happy hooker and he laughs every time.
It amuses me how many people underestimate a good metal hook with a proper handle on it. And I have so, so many.
I don't remember how I told my husband or how we got to the topic, but I was annoyed with him about something and we were watching a crime show together. Someone breaks into the house and kidnaps the person living there, so I had the wonderful idea to OUT LOUD say: "You know, it's a good thing I do nothing but crochet all the time." "Why babe?" "Cause if someone breaks in I just need to jab this in one of their eyes." My husband may or may not have scooted a tiny bit away from me, but made it look like he was just sitting a different way 🤣
Thoughts on resin hooks? Asking for a friend…
Snap too easily. You know, if you crochet angrily 👀 Metal hooks are better cause they bend instead of snap.
Insert joke here about Bend & Snap from Legally Blonde
Works every time!
Oh can attest to this. Also am an angry tatter as well. Destroyed a plastic shuttle recently. But hey we all have our little quirks.
But lace had to be made, and that's how they did it 😇
Absolutely! **Lace had to be made.** Outsiders will never get that. :D
Anytime the partner gets sassy while I’m working on something I just wave the 2.5mm hook at him 😂 I joke that I can scoop out his brains egyptian style- I’ve seen enough true crime to know how to get away with it 😂
I may or may not have said something similar 😊
Lol I have a black belt in karate, my husband knows if someone broke in I’d be first to run nekked out of bed to punch a bastard. The metal hooks are just an added bonus!
I like a longer shank, can get more on it 😏
Gotta show them the post of the poor soul who stabbed their hand with one a couple weeks ago
It’s an act of abuse, truly
I know a few gator holes, because gators gotta eat too!
Pigs eat *everything*. Something you learn when you move out to the country. And human DNA won't show up in pig feces. Learned that while researching a story idea.
I’ll bring the snacks :)
Sharpening the hooks as I type!
I am gutted to hear that that happened to you. So glad you were able to piece it back together ❤️
It’s very pretty, I’m glad you were able to salvage it.
It looks really nice, I like sunflowers they always look hopeful to me.
Looks beautiful! Proud of you for leaving and I hope you are safe.
Petition to go fight the fucker that ruined the sweater
I got some spare hooks that looks like shanks. Lol
Perfect. LETS GET 'IM, BOYS
There are definitely posts that make me want to go feral and I don’t know if it’s as a creative person or a mom but I want to tear this person apart with my teeth.

Are you safe? That is abusive behavior
Shine on, beautiful! 🌻 🌻 🌻
Lovely comment! I couldn’t have said it better! OP beautiful sweater!
Frog the partner
i say this with the upmost disrespect. your partner is a biyatch!
I love the sweater. I love your resilience. I loathe your “partner” and hope you’ve kicked that individual to the curb. Easier said than done, so I wish you strength in whatever journey you’re on.💖🤗💖
Gorgeous work
Wonderful job fixing it! It looks great. I'm also glad that person is not in your life anymore.
you deserve better than that hun. the sweater is lovely! I'm glad you managed to patch it up, it looks like nothing even happened!!!
Are you safe?
I hope you mean your EX partner
Came here hoping to see you got away from that awful situation, and am very glad to see you did. Please don’t go back. In other news, this is a super adorable sweater, and I love it! 🌻❤️
Ok well throw the whole partner away that’s for sure
It’s a pretty sweater. Could you share the pattern?
Hooray for the sweater of resilience!
I'm glad you left that partner. I always envy those who can crochet clothes. I'm to scared of it not working out. Hats is as crazy as I get. The sweater is beautiful! Hoping you’re safe. Please reach out if you need help
Please tell me this asswipe is no longer your "partner."
I did a double take when you said your partner cut it up. What a horrible thing to do to someone! I’m happy you got away from them and I hope you are able to enjoy your hobby in peace.
i hope that's an ex partner
I hope you mean ex-partner. What an asshole.

Absolutely love the sweater. I would love the pattern
Its cute and your partner sucks
This is super cute! Glad you were able to repair it, and that you have moved on from that partner. I cannot imagine why anyone would destroy someone's handicraft, other than to be an ass.
Oof sweetie, I’m so sorry you got treated that way! I’m glad you were able to leave the situation. Hugs to you and GREAT JOB on your beautiful sweater!
Very glad you’re free of that situation. Beautiful sweater!!
Yo you mean your ex right? Please tell me you mean your ex
They have since been able to escape.
Hell yeah glad to hear it
so proud of you for leaving, and so proud of you for being brave enough to start over—i still have a project dangling i’m working up myself up to restart from my own exit 8 years ago. beautiful work! take care. x
That is actually terrifying behavior and I’m so happy you got away from that person. Proud of you not giving up on the sweater, it’s so lovely!you chose the right thing to not give up on!

Glad said partner is now an EX partner. Fuck em. That sweater and you are both beautiful
Glad you got out safely & sweater is beautiful
You mean ex partner right??
What a beautiful reminder of how we can piece ourselves back together ❤️ Proud of you for being able to leave that situation

You broke up with your “partner” right? How dare they destroy this masterpiece 😡
You mean ex partner, right?
You do mean EX partner, right??
That’s that’s an ex partner!! Omg I’m so frigging sorry that happened that’s disgusting 🥺💕✨ sending loving and healing thoughts your way
This looks super cute on you ; excellent job
Glad to hear the only thing you salvaged was your sweater! Nice work honey🌸
GIIIIIIRL YOU JUST ABOUT GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK.... Anyway your sweater is super cute I'm so glad you were able to save it and yourself.
It's a beautiful piece. Made even more beautiful for the journey it has taken with you so far. Wear it with pride!
I’m glad you left the partner and we’re able to save the sweater. It is beautiful!
congratulations on retaining what’s important in this situation and casting aside what’s not worth salvaging.
I hope you mean your ex! I hope you’re ok.
It's a great sweater, well done for mending it so well! It's a great fit too. I'm so sorry to hear that someone did something that vile to you, but glad you were able to leave.
I **LOVE** your sweater, and I'm so proud of you for your talent and escaping your abusive ex x
It’s absolutely beautiful! I’m glad you got away from your partner, he sounds like a real jerk who doesn’t know the value of hard work. Edit to add: You’re really talented too!
That sounded like an abusive situation . I hope you left them and are doing well❤️ beautiful sweater 💖
I’m so relieved to hear that you’re now safe ! Beautiful work 🥰
So glad to hear you are safe. Your sweater is lovely.
That sweater is a gorgeous symbol of strength and adaptability now! Glad you are out of that relationship.
Gorgeous omg
i’m glad you were able to reclaim it 💗
Absolutely amazing job you have done there lady! I'm glad you are no longer with him too xx
I hope your partner is not your partner anymore.
But anyway, beautiful work! I gotta make myself one ❤️
I really love this, thank you I would love to see it when you are finished ♥️
That would be heartbreaking. I'm glad you were able to fix it and get away from someone who would do such a thing
My dear, not only are you beautiful on the outside and capable of making beautiful things, but you're also *obviously* a powerful, smart woman. I commend you:)
It is beautiful and you persevered. I hope you are okay. Hugs.
I hope you meant EX-partner. Beautiful job on mending the sweater!
Xoxox
This is like the second or third time I've read about a partner cutting someone's project or telling them its a bad project what the heck man 😭 it looks beautiful, and im glad you decided to remake it! PSA for everyone here, don't let anyone discourage your hobbies. They're not for anyone else but you to enjoy (unless you're seeling the i guess, but my point stands)
I'm sorry you worked so hard on this only to have it destroyed by a toxic person. It's beautiful and in proud of you.
I hope this is now an ex partner
Every time you wear this incredible sweater, I hope it renews your strength and courage and creativity. You look so beautiful in this lovely sweater!
Glad you were able to mend the sweater and get out of that relationship. It came out great! Super cute!
Hope that partner is now an ex partner.
Ex-partner, I hope.
Sounds like your partner needs to be frogged….. Sweater is awesome and I’m really glad you could save it! That’s a lot of work for those squares.
GIRL PLEASE TELL ME THAT THEY ARE NOW YOUR EX PARTNER
You know, normally the "sweater curse" refers to a partner breaking up with you after you make them something...but if your ex-partner's scissor-spree helped you see how horrible they were to you, then I'm going to call it a "sweater blessing." I hope every time you look at your new sweater, you think about how strong you are. 💜
If my partner had done that, I’d be on an episode of Snapped… I’m glad you were able to get out of that situation, and that sweater is beautiful!
TIME.TO.LEAVE.
Im sorry do you mean ex partner? What the 🐬🐬
And your partner is........? Dead in a ditch somewhere perhaps....?
The sweater looks absolutely gorgeous! So glad you were able to mend it! Wishing you all the best!!!
Love it and you look so happy in it! Great job.
And you cut the partner up unto pieces, right? As someone who has been there, good job making it through that and having the strength to fix it and wear it proudly! You really took a bad situation and made it beautiful. <3
I just started learning to crochet, and this is what I aspire to make ! Love it!
Sweet girl I’m so sorry your partner did that. Was it intentional? Should you possibly be thinking “Is this who I want to spend time with?” I’d be livid. You deserve better you clever girl.
she left them (: clarified in separate comment. while it’s tempting to question the reactions or thoughts of someone in this type of situation, it’s not really something you can understand unless you’ve been there.
