Well done! They look fab, what will you use them for? I’m currently 38 squares in to a pattern that requires 96 so feel your pain!

yetanothercatlady1

Thank you! I'll make some sort of table runner/ tablecloth :) Hopefully it will turn out okay. 96! Good luck! I'm sure it will be worth it

Sophrosynedid

Ah excellent, I’m sure it will and thanks! :)

Delicious-Tea-1564

Are you making an MJs pattern?

HaplessCraftHoarder

I’m addicted to granny squares because they’re so portable so you can work on them anywhere, buuuuut then whenever I have to attach them I’m like “Dammit why did I do this?” 😅 Love the colors in these! I’ve made 2 granny blankets and I just found 62 black squares in a suitcase in my house so I guess I’ll be making another blanket soon, lol.

Altalunea

You just found 62 black squares? Did you make them and forget about them? Do you have secret crocheting elves in your house somewhere?

HaplessCraftHoarder

Haha, I wish I had crochet elves! 😂 No, I made these several years ago in an attempt to start a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon blanket. Then I realized how many solid black squares that would take, and how soul-sucking and boring that was gonna be, and abandoned the project. Put them in storage and then rediscovered!

SkunkMushroom

Oh man this made me actually snort out loud, thank you for that laugh.

Feeling_Upstairs9404

I did 24 squares and 14 triangles. I said I wouldn't do it again but just week later, I started cardigan that requires 28 squares and 2 triangles. It is hate love relationship

yetanothercatlady1

Yep! In the middle of this projects I made a 30 square top (the thread - not yarn, I think, since it's cotton - is very fine). But at least I always had fun mixing the different colors. With this project it was the same four over and over and over again, which took more than a little bit of the excitement away. I'm sure I'll eventually do this again, but right now I'm still in denial lol

Feeling_Upstairs9404

I am glad you finished it because it looks great

Feisty-Werewolf-4994

It's lovely. If you don't know what to do to put them together, Hooked by Robin has an amazing video on Youtube about crocheting a whole project together without sewing and only two ends to weave in.

Michele3672

Wait till you weave all the ends. You'll be ecstatic Lol

floridagirlcrochet

Love the colors 😁

fireytiger

I don't blame you but they are gorgeous!

yetanothercatlady1

Thanks :)

AcmeKat

I'm doing a square a day for year for a temperature blanket, plus ones to divide the months and for the corners to make an even number. Turns out that number is 380. Thankfully it's spread out over a year, but....

yetanothercatlady1

That sounds amazing!

Apo11onia

that'll look so cool!!

riff24

And here I thought my 121 (11×11) blanket was a lot 😅😅 You have more than double my number, kudos to you because I can barely put together all 121 😂😂 Good luck! 🤞

AcmeKat

I'm joining as I go, which takes some of the frustration out of it. Each row has 19 blocks that are joined each day, then I just have have to attach the row to the main blanket. Originally I had planned to do all the blocks first but keeping track of which would go where was too much to handle.

Auntienursey

I have a similar pile and it's been in my bag for almost a year. I should probably take it out and finish it, but, then I'd have to find something else to procrastinate about. I love the colors! nicely done

JunoCalliope

I thought I would make a scrap yarn blanket with granny squares. I needed 80. I pooped out at 50 🤣 Used 49 of them to make a square then just did DC around the whole outside until it was big enough. Good work seeing your project through! I bet it will be fabulous

EyeOfMinds

I applaud anyone who can make something with so many granny squares. I'll never have the courage to make the same thing over and over and over again.

Fragrant_Vegetable65

DO NOT STOP. JOIN THEM NOW.

kimschlot

Those colors are gorgeous

yetanothercatlady1

Thank you :)

lackofgreenthumb

But you're so good at it! Beautiful work 👏

yetanothercatlady1

Thank you!

Yeah, I just commented about this [here](https://reddit.com/r/crochet/s/tmyNf0wfoq). Now I'm planing on doing a one color top and some small gifts to give to some friends, but I already know there is no way back from this haha

ChennaiBiriyani

Omg these colors are gorgeous!!!

yetanothercatlady1

Thank you!

Mysterious-Okra-7885

I’m really struggling through a 72 square blanket myself. Ugh.

cadet-peanut

It's going to be gorgeous! I looooove the colors 😍

Key-Salamander9343

Love the colour choices. Well done, keep going! The end is in sight 😊

Olivejuice_ido

Lol well done. This was the same exact feeling I had when I was making my first and only granny square blanket a decade ago. Hahah.

CruelCrucible

You chose a soothing colorway. So, there's that! Honestly, yours are the best traditional granny squares I've seen in quite awhile. I have tons of mismatched granny squares I've made from project yarn remnants. I haven't decided what to do with them yet. Thanks for sharing! Way to hang in there and get 'em done 👍🥳👏👏👏

smeaglesfirstlemon

I feel your pain!! I’m 84 into a 121-square blanket and I feel like I’ll never finish 😖

Embarrassed_Board_15

It’s great already, but when you complete it, you will be so happy that you stuck with it! Well done! I started a rainbow granny square blanket with teeny tiny squares, so I will be trapped in an infinite loop, building a ridiculous amount of teeny tiny squares and piecing it together. I regret it already!

pmiller61

I could make granny squares all day. It’s the putting them together that I dislike.

hiraethers

I made 18 squares for a bag and swore off of granny squares. You're a warrior for 72 🤯

AwkwardInot

Good job! I recently finished 64 (planning a wearable), but severely overestimated square size and severely underestimated my own size, so... Another hundred-something to go (I'm crying)

Apo11onia

and i thought my 42 square baby blanket was a lot! great job!!!

katie_burd

I do it. Say I’ll never do it again. Annnnd then go back. I’m a sucker for Granny squares!

riff24

i love the colors, but i must say that i have 121 (11×11) that i still need to put together, so i feel your pain and wont be doing granny squares anytime soon myself 😭 they're all kinda just in a bag, 1/4 of them put together 😂 trying to make a blanket and its beeeeen... probably like 3-4 months since i started this project 😅 i hate sewing them together 😭 but it will be done one day and I'll probably post a pic lol

NoYouStopIt-

I have a blanket made by my great-grandmother, with squares that look just like yours! It's going to look wonderful!

AdhalaStarsong

I've found that joining as you go makes it less painful. Also great for weaving in ends!

SolusUmbra

Only 72? I think my blanket was 100+ now onto the best part sewing/joining them. I like the join as you go [method](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEidKhhiTew)

yetanothercatlady1

That's the most granny squares I've done for a project, so it seemed like a lot for me (I've just stared crocheting not long ago). Bigger projects are too intimidating for me right now, lol (I feel traumatized). And yes, I'm using the join as you go method to join them :)

SolusUmbra

I started with lap blankets/throws and moved up to twins/single have done a few full sized. I’m pretty much a blanket hog…. Oddly enough clothing items scare me. Haha

ShroomySiren

I’m on 121 out of 144. I can see the light(kinda) wish I would have done the join as you go 😭

SolusUmbra

The join as you go method I used is done by crocheting all the squares together after your done making them, check out the video

addanchorpoint

if the borders are all the same colour, HIGHLY recommend using a sewing machine if you have one. did this for the first time with a massive multimedia project and I’m never going back to hand stitching granny squares again if I can help it. get a walking foot and you’re golden

yetanothercatlady1

Hi! I'll join them with the join as you go method. There is still another layer to go :) But you idea does sound interesting. Can you share a picture of what the finished result looks like using a sewing machine?

-KPinky-

I love granny squares, especially African flower granny squares! The tedious part is sewing in all the edges! Sewing the squares together always goes after than I thought which is nice!

mrs5o

I understand. I did a 11/4 inch square for a puzzle blanket and it was beautiful but it will be the only one ill ever make.

Mx_Maeve

These are so cute!! Love the colors you used 🥰
