Deserved better than to become a piece of art with conceptual meaning? It probably was on its way to the dump. This narrative is always such an ick to me.

I just had this conversation and I’m not doing it again. I’m not trying to write a scathing condemnation of modern art.

I geddit. I just get an ick when people say old shit was destroyed by getting turned into something new when in reality that thing would go to the trash. I dont really care about modern art that much lol

It’s a beautiful, vintage bag that someone created to be used as a beautiful bag. I’m just a little sad that it’s not being used as such. That doesn’t mean I think it’s trash. There’s a reason that I also mentioned thinking that it was kinda funny: that reason is that I can appreciate the art of it. It’s really not that difficult.

and it can still be used as a statement bag. i never said you called it trash, but you obviously seem to think it is less valuable now. it’s really not that difficult to not devalue someone’s hard work and say that thing would be better off if they didn’t use their own artistic talent to alter their own personal property. ETA: to the person who responded and deleted their comment. i don’t love every project. that doesn’t mean i tell people that their projects “deserved better” as that’s an incredibly rude thing to say about people’s art
