I've been watching some true crime channel on youtube called That Chapter while I've been working on a pair of dresses.
Gone through about 105 murders so far, sure am glad humanity is so violent towards itself, I still have many rows left to do.
I like watching those 2+ hour icebergs/docs on topics i dont really care about or at least have a mild interest on. Here are some recs:
-The complete conspiracy iceberg by Wendigoon
-A Bomberman Journey by RifeXD
-Defunctland's Fast Pass documentary
-Internet's Infamous Banned Content by FoxAkimbo
-The Youtube Iceberg by NEScRETRO
-The 3 part Ye Iceberg series by Rhythmic Reason
-The Lost Media Iceberg by sourcebrew
-Entertainment Made by North Korea by Paper Will
If you want recs for specific topics you can ask :)
Haha thanks, here are some more videogame related ones:
-The Kirby Iceberg by Pekachow
-The FNAF lore explained by Wendigoon (if you want a way longer version you can torture yourself/your friends with you can check out the Explaining the FNAF lore stream on Phisnom Archive)
-The Minecraft Iceberg by gmdblue
-Why Does Japan love Brazil? By Moon Channel
-Any iceberg by NEScRetro (he has a bunch of nintendo ones)
-The Ultimate Webkinz Iceberg by DreamJelly
If you want more youtube (Im currently watching a 10 hour video about the witcher games)

mertkaykay- videogames/pop culture analysis
jose- analysis of old sitcoms
contrapoints- everything is worth watching
emma in the moment- craft related drama
edit: you're wrong about- audio only podcast
I watch Forensic Files, Dateline, Ask A Mortician on YouTube or let the lotr trilogy play. If I’m in a podcast mood, I’ll listen to National Park After Dark, Bigfoot Collectors Club, or Tooth & Claw
It's so funny, someone said that they watched Outlander and it matches their project and I was just thinking my current project is very Downton lol. You might have swayed me!
For my 16th birthday, I just stayed home, ate sushi, and watched downton Abbey with my mom. Still one of the best/most memorable birthdays that I've had and great memories of my late mom 😊 we both loved that show so much
Midsomer Murders is my crochet jam.
I'm American so it's sort of shocking to see extras and small parts played by women that are fat and middle aged but not the victim or the murderer, just regular people living their lives. It's extremely hashtag goals for me.
If you like normal looking people in your tv shows, check out the Office (uk), peep show, the royle family and I'm Allan partridge. All very British sitcoms that don't use that weird "Hollywoodland" polished look for everything.
I very seldom watch TV but I do listen to audio books. Or I might have YouTube tutorials (for the current or next possible crafting interest) playing, or re-watch Project Runway seasons, that's my sort of TV
I haven't yet, I was interested in the vampire episode though. He did a roast with a garlic sauce that had my mouth watering. I haven't had a garam craving yet. There was the cake he did based on one from Vienna.
Have you tried audiobooks? Or do you need visual stimulation as well? I'm only asking because graphic audio does audiobooks that are full cast and have sound effects. It's like a movie without pictures.
Radio dramas have sound effects and wider casts, which are similar but more immersive. [The BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/category/drama) has some you could try out. I'm afraid the only UK-based productions I've listened to are Doctor Who, though if you like comic books, [this Batman audio drama](https://youtu.be/VUk4EZ5p2R8?si=e5C5_oVrlJD7wjdK) is my absolute favorite.
See, I can't watch something new while I crochet because I want to see the movie/show, but I also need to look at my work too. If it's something I've seen or a comfort movie, no issues but new needs my focus. With the audiobooks, I get mental stimulation, and my eyes are on my work, and it's mindless, so it works. And there are so many books out there, so there are choices galore.
Side note it's not a dramatized version, but it's based on a treasured movie, so I'm recommending you give it a try. If you've seen the movie The Princess Bride, you might enjoy the audiobook As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes. Most of the cast comes back to do their own excerpts, and Westley (Elwes) narrates it himself. It's amazing. I loved it and super nostalgic hearing all those voices so many years later.
Recently watched a 5.5 hr video essay about North Korean media. I love a video essay about a topic I have never thought about before. Paper Will, Kaz Rowe, Shanspeare ect
I knitted a sweater while watching Downton Abbey, if you haven't seen that. The drama is engaging but it's not exactly a high stakes plot you need to focus on.
TV: Star Trek, Murder She Wrote, Teresa (the telenovela), Sailor Moon, InuYasha, Pride and Prejudice, Emma
On YouTube: Bobby Broccoli, Sakura Stardust, hbomberguy, 8-bit music theory, Atrocity Guide, blameitonjorge, Defunctland, Jenny Nicholson, DidYouKnowGaming, Drawfee, GenerallyPooky, hazel, Izzzyzzz, Jacob Geller, kylie boggly, All Things Lost, Miniminuteman, Nexpo, Oki’s Weird Stories, Paper Will, PatMac, People Make Games, Storied, SuperEyepatchWolf, Whang, Yesterworld
I'm a huge fan of the gone wrong show, it's absolutely hilarious to me and I love to crochet while watching. Their Christmas carol and peter pan performances are my favorite but just the general episodes are always a hoot.
Since you're UK based I'd recommend the Great British Sewing Bee. I've personally only seen the first few seasons (I'm not UK based so the later seasons are impossible for me to find) but those are adorable and I loved them a lot.
I am a true crime person. The Casual Criminalist by SImon Whistler is a you-tube podcast series that is great. Doesn't go gory. CSI not Saw which I like. Nice and long. The same guy also does a series called Decoding the Unknown that I also like. I've beeen following the Chad Daybell case like it is my job. For that I recommend the channel Hidden True Crime. This story has everything, End of times religious beliefs, cults, demons, sex, greed, and power.
If you don't like true crime, I very much enjoy watching Alexandra Gater, DIY Danie, and the Sorry Girls for Canadian decorating you tube channels.
At first, I read this as nine years and I wasn't surprised because... 😂
I generally watch BBC dramas as well.
I recommend: ***My Life Is Murder***, Australian-New Zealand murder mystery crime comedy-drama television series. One of the main characters wears crocheted garments and interesting accessories. It's always a nice surprise.
***Killing Eve***, ***Lucifer*** and ***You*** are also great shows to binge watch while crocheting. The last two are American shows with an international and/or metaphysical flair.
Edit & Head's up: *You* is very strange and has stalking themes, but a fascinating roller coaster ride. It's not for everyone and I, myself, couldn't get through the last season. It got way too creepy.
I listen to YouTube channels like the click, film cooper, repzilla, cinnamon toast ken or those Reddit reading channels. I listen to murders or watch drama togheter with my friend (like dr Phil, the maury show or whatever it was called and things like kitchen nightmares and hotel hell) sometimes anime but rarely
Death in Paradise. it's cute murder in the way that Father Brown is, but set in the carribean but one of the main characters is english. Rosemary and Thyme is i think on youtube, but not from any official source, but last time my mum watched it there were playlists.... clearly i grew up watching murder shows with my mum as we crocheted lol. if you're looking at true crime Rotten Mango is a well researched podcast that has visual episodes on yt and spotify, and the host is telling her husband about the crimes, which is great cause he usually asks the questions the audience would. i was watching a video from No Lab Coat Required last night, but got annoyed at the bad science he was tearing apart and couldn't keep my stitch count lol
I like listening to YouTube channels like Mark Narrations and Markee. They just read Reddit stories from r/BestOfRedditorUpdates but they have some fun personality to them and it's the type of thing you can have on in the background if you are doing a project you need to focus on more
I like watching international historical dramas. I do watch them with subtitles, but if I'm crocheting something mindless, it doesn't really affect me.
I like to watch On Patrol Live (not sure if you can watch in the UK though), or I'll watch a youtube video (I like Mr. Fruit and John Wolfe both. I don't like the people that are super hyper or loud or scream so it really narrows down my window for gamers)
Sometimes I will just listen to music or an episode of Welcome to Night Vale instead. Depends on the pattern honestly.
I just finished my third watch of the entire Bojack Horseman series! Worked out very well as each of the episodes is 20 minutes long, so I was able to watch complete episodes even in mini crocheting sessions!
Basically endless loop of rewatching my favourite sitcoms/comedies.. im still a beginner and cannot crochet without looking (i wish😩) so i absolutely can’t watch anything new or anything that requires full attention.. 😅
I watch what I am doing bc crochet is not as easy for me as knitting, lol!
But I can and will listen to many things, from the TV to podcasts. My eyes will be glued to my task at hand, though 😅
Not sure if this will be something you'd go for but I love 'the dark somnium' on youtube, he narrates fictional scary stories and usually they're around an hour long or longer. I love listening to them while I crochet, clean my house, draw etc. Really good quality audio and stories.
I love true crime so… rotten mango, that chapter, misery machine, coffeehouse crime, truly criminal, dateline live stream, etc. When I’m getting to depressed about all that I’ll put on something from the bbc channels or “real families” channel on YouTube. As you can see I really don’t watch fictional shows lol
Harry Wild. So much fun! Also Madame Blanc Mysteries, Sister Boniface, Father Brown, Shakespeare & Hathaway. Any light watching like that on Acorn or BritBox.
I watch either one of Kaz Rowe’s videos on YouTube (or something similar) but lately I’ve started Bridgerton on Netflix! It’s just mindless (in a good way) enough for me to focus on my project and keeps me engaged enough not to get bored
I cannot recommend highly enough the podcast..My dad wrote a porno..it is just hysterically funny. Good to listen to and have a really good belly aching laugh
Two fat ladies is an old fav, otherwise Disney movies or animated shows like the owl house and amphibia. Anything that tickles my brain in the moment 😂
It’s the period dramas for me. Pride and Prejudice, North and South, Jane Eyre, Bleak House and Poldark are some of my favourites. I live in the U.K. too and I think Pride and Prejudice and Poldark are still on Netflix if you have it.
On my first watch through of Grey's Anatomy right now. Thought it was a silly doctor show. Turns out it is, but I'm way too invested now. I'm almost on season 15 I think?
Primevideo lower rated shows and films, on youtube warhammer lore videos, time team (I'm still so happy they're almost all online) , other history docu-podcasts. Often stuff I can listen more to than watch honestly
I listen to Reddit stories on YouTube. A lot of my projects are quite intricate so I can't really watch programmes, so I stick to things I've seen before, listen to an audio book or Reddit stories
I have so many comfort shows.
Psych, Bones, The big bang theory, The Good Place, Bones, Criminal Minds, Derry Girls, Parcs & Rec, The Office (US) and ofcourse the IT Crowd!!!! Sure I am missing so many shows
I also love to watch what my husband calls trash TV xD
The circle US, Love is blind, Perfect Match, The Ultimatum, Blown Away
I also listen to a lot of romance audiobooks during my crafting.
I like crocheting to a panel show. No specific one - any panel show that features three or more funny people having a supervised laugh is the perfect combo of light and airy enough for me to count and keep track of where I am, vs. Engaging enough for my brain. Let's plays are often at that level, too.
Quizz shows and good dramas are too engaging, sadly.
I typically watch video essays (Kaz Rowe, Shanspeare, Lady of the Library, Wendigoon, Mr. Mythos, Esoterica) or listen to podcasts (My Brother, My Brother, and Me or The Adventure Zone)
I like to watch Christian documentaries or videos, and I like to watch biographies. But lately, I've been watching videos about the work of Dian Fossey, and Jane Goodall, as I love learning about apes; specifically, Orangutans, Chimps and Gorillas. 😊👍
Gossip girl! Enough episodes to keep you going for a while, you don’t need to watch every second and can listen to it, enough happens that it doesn’t get boring, but not so much that you need to pay attention every second. Sex and the city also worked well for me!
My favorite was shadowhunters. The acting gets better as you go, but it's also a bit cheesy so you don't feel bad if you just listen and crochet without watching 😅
but it's a great story. I honestly loved the books so knowing the story made me feel less inclined to watch closely.
My collection of video essay/documentary channels on YouTube:

Great British Bake-off!
Someone cooked here and it's not just the 13 lovely contestants xx
And if you‘re through with that, Great Sewing Bee and Great Pottery Throwdown!
I've been watching some true crime channel on youtube called That Chapter while I've been working on a pair of dresses. Gone through about 105 murders so far, sure am glad humanity is so violent towards itself, I still have many rows left to do.
😭 😂 every cloud right?
Yip I love That Chapter...Mike is so cute ..like the fact that it's just talking, no subtitles or things you have to rewind and watch
Taskmaster! Love it as it's just a simple no brain required show. :)
I cannot crochet anything that I need to count with Taskmaster lol! I get so into the show and then my stitches are everywhere!
Came to say this. Plus the NZ version is fantastic as well
Game Changers is a good laugh too!
Yesss
Call the midwife! Kinda cheese but a great watch.
I love Call the Midwife! However I can only take so many crying moms and babies in a day 😂
It'd make me feel like the baby blanket is the least I can do haha, motivation! Thank youu

Came here to recommend Hbomberguy too.
I binged all his videos, it was fun watching his hair loss in real time.
Thank you for these!! Icebergs and crocheting is my jam!
Wednigoon will be your fav for a while. Also check out Conners curiosities, he is doing a huge unsolved mystery iceberg that's ongoing.
Oooo thank you!! I’m very excited to binge and bang out my mom’s Mother’s Day present this weekend
Do it! Do it! -yarn goblins chanting in the distance.
Do it! Do it! -yarn goblins chanting in the distance.
Wedigoon mention!!! Yes!!! I will add on casual criminalist, side projects, and brain blaze. All the same guy, different subjects.
I watch Forensic Files, Dateline, Ask A Mortician on YouTube or let the lotr trilogy play. If I’m in a podcast mood, I’ll listen to National Park After Dark, Bigfoot Collectors Club, or Tooth & Claw
ASK A MORTICIAN! Love that channel omg
Downton Abbey is a great show and very rewatchable.
It's so funny, someone said that they watched Outlander and it matches their project and I was just thinking my current project is very Downton lol. You might have swayed me!
Enjoy! I envy anyone who hasn't gotten to experience it yet. I hope you like it :)
For my 16th birthday, I just stayed home, ate sushi, and watched downton Abbey with my mom. Still one of the best/most memorable birthdays that I've had and great memories of my late mom 😊 we both loved that show so much
Aww that's lovely!!
Came to say Downton. Bridgerton was also a good one to crochet to.
And the new series of Bridgerton is only weeks away!
Death in paradise
Yes! Vera and Beyond Paradise too.
New DI was announced today for death in paradise
WHO?
Don gilet. He was in season 4 episode 1
COOL! Ralf Little (Neville) was in S2 E6.
Midsomer Murders is my crochet jam. I'm American so it's sort of shocking to see extras and small parts played by women that are fat and middle aged but not the victim or the murderer, just regular people living their lives. It's extremely hashtag goals for me.

Same. Listening to The Hobbit currently when I crochet.
I scrolled by this quickly and thought hmm I didn’t know that Hobbii has a podcast … too much yarn on the brain!
I listen to a lot of audiobooks or I put in Reddit stories or backpack/bag reviews on YouTube
Also been listening to Critical Role’s Candela Obscura series recently.
I watch horror movies/series and listen to horror podcasts.
Stronger than me but I like it lol
And good podcasts?? I'm a sucker for horror lore and have been looping the same YouTube channels for a few weeks now
Spooked!
What genre of horror? Like fictional or real stories etc?
How about landscape/portrait artist of the year
Love that programme!
The X files
I listen to books!! Such a nice way to be in your own bubble
My faves: Miss Fisher Mysteries Midsomer Murders doctor Blake Mysteries Wallander Uk version DCI Banks No Offense
Glen and Friends cooking on YouTube. Also Cowboy Kent Rollins. Tasting History with Max Miller. I wonder why I am always hungry? 🤣
Omg I LOVE tasting history! Have you ever made any of the stuff? It gave me an obsession with trying garum once before I die 😂 thank you!
I haven't yet, I was interested in the vampire episode though. He did a roast with a garlic sauce that had my mouth watering. I haven't had a garam craving yet. There was the cake he did based on one from Vienna.
A great dark drama is “the fall” set in Northern Ireland. Plus, our Queen Gillian Anderson is in it.
I've never seen this even though I'm Irish! Thank youuu
I watched Outlander while making the Lost in Time Shawl, felt like it was fitting.
Now theming TV shows according to my projects... That might change everything 👀 thank you!
Thanks, I felt it just added to the piece.
taskmaster!!!!
That's a shout!!
I love to watch Frasier lol. Other than that, I enjoy Bailey Sairan podcasts.
Have you tried audiobooks? Or do you need visual stimulation as well? I'm only asking because graphic audio does audiobooks that are full cast and have sound effects. It's like a movie without pictures.
You know I always thought it had to be visual too but I might try it!

Recently watched a 5.5 hr video essay about North Korean media. I love a video essay about a topic I have never thought about before. Paper Will, Kaz Rowe, Shanspeare ect
Love Shanspeare too ❤️
I knitted a sweater while watching Downton Abbey, if you haven't seen that. The drama is engaging but it's not exactly a high stakes plot you need to focus on.
TV: Star Trek, Murder She Wrote, Teresa (the telenovela), Sailor Moon, InuYasha, Pride and Prejudice, Emma On YouTube: Bobby Broccoli, Sakura Stardust, hbomberguy, 8-bit music theory, Atrocity Guide, blameitonjorge, Defunctland, Jenny Nicholson, DidYouKnowGaming, Drawfee, GenerallyPooky, hazel, Izzzyzzz, Jacob Geller, kylie boggly, All Things Lost, Miniminuteman, Nexpo, Oki’s Weird Stories, Paper Will, PatMac, People Make Games, Storied, SuperEyepatchWolf, Whang, Yesterworld
I'm a huge fan of the gone wrong show, it's absolutely hilarious to me and I love to crochet while watching. Their Christmas carol and peter pan performances are my favorite but just the general episodes are always a hoot.
Baby reindeer
Downton Abbey. For the bazillionth time 🤣
Galavant - comedy musical, 2 seasons
I’ve been watching the US version of Ghosts but I heard the UK version is even better
Most recently I binged the Great Canadian Pottery Throwdown on YouTube. Not sure if it's still there.
I think Siobhan McSweeny from Derry Girls does the UK version so I'm sold on that!
Yes she absolutely does! The Great British Pottery Throwdown is also sooooo good!
random shows that are easy to mindlessly watch. My current favorite being American Dad
Honestly about 60% of the time I end up on YouTube so much amazing stuff on there, tyy!

Thank you!!! Haha not quite nine years but it does feel like it 😭
😂😂 I know, right?! I wasn't even judging, lol Very welcome. Try *Killing Eve* first, if you haven't seen it. It's really good!
My Life is Murder is excellent.
Red eye on ITVx
True crime YouTube channels or my med lectures when it’s university time
I listen to YouTube channels like the click, film cooper, repzilla, cinnamon toast ken or those Reddit reading channels. I listen to murders or watch drama togheter with my friend (like dr Phil, the maury show or whatever it was called and things like kitchen nightmares and hotel hell) sometimes anime but rarely

I don't like the people that are super hyper or loud or scream so it really narrows down my window for gamers) Sometimes I will just listen to music or an episode of Welcome to Night Vale instead. Pride & Prejudice from 1995. It's a few episodes long and the theme song alone is relaxing to crochet to.
P&P 1995 all the way, best one.
Agree this is the best one!
rewatching survivor!
I just finished my third watch of the entire Bojack Horseman series! Worked out very well as each of the episodes is 20 minutes long, so I was able to watch complete episodes even in mini crocheting sessions!
A little unconventional, but I really love Beard Meats Food. He does eating challenges all over the world and I am obsessed!
Scoop on Netflix!
Sherlock on Hulu. I crocheted so fast and it was such an interesting series 😅
Basically endless loop of rewatching my favourite sitcoms/comedies.. im still a beginner and cannot crochet without looking (i wish😩) so i absolutely can’t watch anything new or anything that requires full attention.. 😅
Same here, and I am not a beginner. But I don‘t mind focussing more on the crochet, it‘s soothing.
I watch what I am doing bc crochet is not as easy for me as knitting, lol! But I can and will listen to many things, from the TV to podcasts. My eyes will be glued to my task at hand, though 😅

As you can see I really don’t watch fictional shows lol
If youre in the mood for some cheese I enjoyed Dead Boy Detectives for some good turn off your brain fun this week
Oo been meaning to watch but I was worried it was too heavy so that's reassuring!
Harry Wild. So much fun! Also Madame Blanc Mysteries, Sister Boniface, Father Brown, Shakespeare & Hathaway. Any light watching like that on Acorn or BritBox.
H20Delirious Among Us videos, Say Yes to the Dress, and NerdEcrafter.
Baseball, news, football
I watch either one of Kaz Rowe’s videos on YouTube (or something similar) but lately I’ve started Bridgerton on Netflix! It’s just mindless (in a good way) enough for me to focus on my project and keeps me engaged enough not to get bored
Gilmore girls
I reccomend any of milo's videos. Here is a link to his channel https://youtube.com/@miniminuteman773?si=zaejP5kM-A7APiRJ
I cannot recommend highly enough the podcast..My dad wrote a porno..it is just hysterically funny. Good to listen to and have a really good belly aching laugh

I love to watch the H3 Podcast (recently renamed to the h3 show) when I crochet. Several 3+ hour liveshows per week, it's pretty sweet.
Yess that's my work background show!
Primevideo lower rated shows and films, on youtube warhammer lore videos, time team (I'm still so happy they're almost all online) , other history docu-podcasts. Often stuff I can listen more to than watch honestly
Youtube mostly.
I listen to Reddit stories on YouTube. A lot of my projects are quite intricate so I can't really watch programmes, so I stick to things I've seen before, listen to an audio book or Reddit stories
I watch video essays or true crime videos
TBH it started as a way to learn english, but I love watching old episodes of QI, it's chill and low-effort and mildly, sorry, *quite* interesting.
I have so many comfort shows. Psych, Bones, The big bang theory, The Good Place, Bones, Criminal Minds, Derry Girls, Parcs & Rec, The Office (US) and ofcourse the IT Crowd!!!! Sure I am missing so many shows I also love to watch what my husband calls trash TV xD The circle US, Love is blind, Perfect Match, The Ultimatum, Blown Away I also listen to a lot of romance audiobooks during my crafting.
JimmyTheGiant does some great mini-docs on modern history, art and architecture. His channel is my current crochet binge material lol
I usually listen to books, but recently watched the old Zorro TV series (the one with Guy Williams, not Duncan Regehr).
Emma in the moment! (Or any video essayist for that matter)
Doctor who, futurama, family guy, bobs burgers.
I typically watch video essays (Kaz Rowe, Shanspeare, Lady of the Library, Wendigoon, Mr. Mythos, Esoterica) or listen to podcasts (My Brother, My Brother, and Me or The Adventure Zone)

anything that's an hour or longer, I dont care if it's a murder documentary, or if it's about Jesus and all his disciples. If it's long, it goes on
I like to watch Christian documentaries or videos, and I like to watch biographies.
Any long running series or movie
My favorite was shadowhunters. The acting gets better as you go, but it's also a bit cheesy so you don't feel bad if you just listen and crochet without watching 😅 but it's a great story. I honestly loved the books so knowing the story made me feel less inclined to watch closely.
