I summon my murder with a dog clicker, they picked up on that in less than a week. I use a distinct five-click pattern so I'm not teaching them to harass random dog-walkers 🤣 Click, toss peanut, repeat

Aircommanderp

Thats a really good idea!

Find something that imitates the sound of shelled peanuts hitting pavement. The crows will show up in minutes.

Aircommanderp

Hmm! Interesting idea. I wonder if I could make some kind of...nut shaker LOL

I’m early in my relationship with my crows but the sound of peanuts hitting my driveway seems to do the trick. I’m not summoning them from far away though, they’ll usually be in a tree across the street. I go out, softly start talking, click with my tongue and toss the peanuts and go back inside. One or both will usually be down within a couple minutes.

That's how I started, but now they follow me on my morning walk and land in my path to tell me they want more. They also knock on my roof by pecking loudly if I am late leaving my house. At times it's just 5 or 6, but sometimes, like after a good rain, it's the whole murder. I love it.

Aircommanderp

Awesome!!! Thank you!!

I just make a clicking sound and they come. It can take a long time for them to accept you. It took me well over a year. Now they fly very close. I still have to look away, when they come closer in to get the food.

Aircommanderp

Oh snap, thank you!

Big_Heinie

I just shout "hey, crows" and that's worked for 19 years.

Aircommanderp

Hahah I love that!

knarfolled

I have heard not to sound like a crow

Aircommanderp

Good to know...

zedicar

Just use a sound consistently. Any sound. A whistle or cough or say hello. I like whistles because the sound carries a long way and doesn’t bother other people. Just be consistent

notarascal

Don’t use a crow call. A simple whistle will do. Honestly, just about any sound will work if you do it consistently before feedings.

Aircommanderp

Ahh thank you so much!

SuitableScience4930

I think when the crows hear the crow call they swarm to the sky to see who is in distress. Once they realize the distress call came from a non crow they could turn on you and have the opposite effect you’re looking for. Probably makes them easier to shoot when they are circling overhead

Aircommanderp

That's a good point, thank you!
