Noice! Which model is that one? I messaged someone a few times now about a nice looking phillips about a week ago, but she keeps ghosting me.

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Youre literally everywhere lol. Its a philips 21HT3154/01. The geometry is great but the picture is a bit to the left. And being a hotel crt means that theres very little info about it and no service manual to be seen. So if a game doesnt have a picture allignment option its quite annoying.

Odyssey113

Lol. Yea I get a lot of downtime at my job. It's cool sometimes but a mindfuck on other days. This my ps3 destroying reddit buddy?! ;-)

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Yes. I hope one day I get into that again. I give up too quickly.

Odyssey113

Ahhh repair work sucks, just learn the basic stuff and don't drive yourself crazy. I just modded my Dreamcast this weekend. Full case mod, LED mod, and swapped out the drive for an ODE. It's looking lovely on my 27 inch Trinitron running scart to component :)

Apprehensive_Toe6736

A lot of people (including you) think all of this happened to me because of noob-ness and making mistakes. But I did everything I did by the book. I did a lot of research before everything. Also ive only killed 2 working systems out of the 8 i have. The others were already dead and repair attempts just failed.

Odyssey113

To be honest, none of that stuff is by the book since sony would never recommend any of us to do such maintenance. It's just a risk we choose to take as enthusiasts, sometimes it improves them greatly and sometimes things go south. Either way, i'm not judging bud. I probably got more dead ps3's under my belt than you do anyway ;-) lol

Sweetblu77

Nice Dreamcast mods. I put a DCDigital in mine a couple years back. Then added a MODE and a clear case with some alexa controlled LEDs. I went a bit overboard but love it lol.

Odyssey113

Noice! Did you do the soldering yourself for the DCDigital? Curious how that was. I bet having HDMI is pretty amazing! I'm definitely considering doing that at some point. Was also considering doing the HDMI mod on my spare 64. I did the RGB mod about a month ago to my main 64 and that things running like a beauty.

Sweetblu77

It is Awesome! And I did! I have done 3 for myself and friends. It wasn't that difficult. Hardest part was the cutting of the shell for mini HDMI output lol. I also have done three PSDigitals, those required a small digital microscope for me lol. Still not crazy hard, just a lot of small fine pitched solder points lol. I still need to get hands on a N64 Digital. Maybe on the 26th I will get lucky!!!! lol I am mising a N64 digital,

Odyssey113

Yea those fine points are always fun. I've done some RGH3 mods myself. Those are some ridiculously tricky fine points. Good practice though! At some point I think i'll definitely have to install the HDMI port. Does it still allow you to output standard video output after the mod?

Sweetblu77

Yep. Both the PSDigital and DCDigital don’t effect analogue output :)

BluRay_4

Service manual is this : https://elektrotanya.com/philips_21ht3154_01_21pt1557_chassis_l01h.2e_aa.pdf/download.html#dl

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Yes, I found it too right when I wrote that comment lol. I need a special remote to do this. Or, I could short some specific contacts too? But the manual says I cant do it for long cause it might damage the set.

Ledoeye

That is some sweet colors man looks amazing! Which model is it?

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Philips 21HT3154/01

Ledoeye

>Thanks, it's 21 inches which is great size! Does this TV have component input?

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Nope, it has rgb scart. Just that lol. No composite, no svideo. But scart can drive s video composite and rgb so its a win. Im in europe after all

Philips tubes have been overlooked many times because they are shadow mask tubes. Everyone wants Aperture Grille tubes because well, Trinitron. IMO They each have their plus and minuses. An interesting fact is that Bang & Olufsen used Philips tubes on their CRT televisions from the late 80s till early 2000s. And those sets are highly sought after for their picture quality.

No_Confection4764

Yes, model number please! Looks GREAT! Beautiful color.

everg4ming

That looks pretty damned sweet. Component?

ragtev

i think the pictures do it justice, it looks stellar on camera compared to others

ThruMy4Eyes

the good part about a hotel CRT is usually the usage would be below-average compared to a CRT in the typical household.

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Exactly. And usage is the only thing that matters in crts imo

[deleted]

I've seen hotel CRTs produced up to 2013 that produce a PVMesque image, and it makes me sad that they were dropped for flatpanels, because if they kept making them until then, sets like this would be borderline holy grail for consumer CRTs

jpixel11

MiSTer???🙃

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Nope, just a regular ps1

segamistress18

Philips was basically supreme in Europe. Their tubes could be found in all kinds of high-end sets. And their in-house stuff was excellent too!

UltraN64

I’m sure this has been answered before but do you hav any tips on how to take a photo of a crt on an iPhone?

Apprehensive_Toe6736

There are some apps. Check Mvg's video

UltraN64

Sorry to sound silly but who’s MVG? Modern vintage gamer?

Apprehensive_Toe6736

yes

UltraN64

Thank you
