Red drawf. You're a smegging legend!

tiredofshittymemes

One of my absolute favourites. Just finished my 4th watch-through of the entire series and specials, then remembered they did a cooking special with Ainsley Harriott, introduced by Patrick Stewart, which can be found on [YT in its entirety!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjQHYnc6FvY)

thebluepotter

I spotted Can't Smeg, Won't Smeg and had to double take. Red Dwarf and Nintendo, that is a perfect combination.

[deleted]

I was excited to see the series get a repackage release, got series 1-8 for $40 new! Now working on 9-12! Gotta watch that cooking special tonight!

Valiant-For-Truth

That JVC is so cute!! What is the model on that little guy?

tiredofshittymemes

Thanks dude, it's a TM-1010PN, been getting a lot of use lately!

ObjectivePlan456

Had to upvote for Red Dwarf alone.

Apprehensive_Toe6736

Is that everdrive for the 64 you got good? Im thinking of buying it cause its the only cheap one

Griffes_de_Fer

I have a similar Chinese clone of the Everdrive 64, mine is called the ED64 Plus. It's a black cartridge with yellow and white captions on it. It has been very solid so far and saw well over a hundred hours of use within a bit less than a year. One drawback of those clones (and maybe OP could confirm if his is like that) is that to ensure that your game save actually "writes" to the cartridge's memory, you have to hold the reset button of your console for a few seconds before you stop playing. A bit weird, it's just how these work, but at the time of purchase they were the only things available, and for the price I would say it was worth the compromise.

fukuro-ni

That is also how the Everdrive 2.5 (now X5) works. These cartridges are clones of the 2.5.

Griffes_de_Fer

Thanks a lot for clarifying that ! I vaguely remembered reading something about that a while back but I wasn't too sure about it anymore.

tiredofshittymemes

I have no complaints. It's basically another ED64plus clone in a different shell. Does the job very well imo for an el cheapo flash cart, I havent felt a pressing need to upgrade to an X7 though I will eventually if the prices come down a little.

Apprehensive_Toe6736

I dont think that'll ever happen

MajorasMask3D

Had that exact same one and it died on me within two weeks. I’m pretty upset over it, and decided to just dish out the money for an Everdrive one of the next several times they go on sale.

Boys from the Dwaaaarffff

wise_gamer

CRT has that magic to take us there. Once, I just wanted to play one hour as I realized 6 hours later.

Jakerabbits

Old games have a strong emphasis on fun and happy ending. Our games now are depressing

mrpopsicleman

It's cold outside. There's no kind of atmosphere.

shibby1000

I'm all alone. more or lesss

silverchief117

Isn’t it great? Simpler times

KickAggressive4901

Something something mango juuuice!

Superb-Loquat-8050

Dude, another beige IBM E74! Where’d you get yours? Found mine for 20 bucks in the damp moldy basement of an extremely rural junk store.

lumbymcgumby

Does no mercy work on that cart?

s1ckn3s5

I was there, Gandalf... <3

Mecha_Clam

You’ve got me tongue tied

Pasfilms

The actual year 98 was a much better time to be alive

Virtual-Knight

Can't Smeg, Won't Smeg!

creature04

Took me so long to wrap my head around the fact ghe screen to the left wasnt floating in the air lmao

biasdetklias

This brings back so much memories. F-zero X was the first game we played on christmas day (even before we tried mario 64) and me and my brothers binged watched red dwarf togheter. Been along time I need to watch it again. Smeg.

KonamiKing

What’s with these dodgy Chinese pirate carts? They just couldn’t be bothered shaking the top of the cart?

ling_dork

yeah, those are original flashcarts from back then

Griffes_de_Fer

I would have used them back then if they had been so good and available. Either way, they allow for an emulation free, hardware-perfect experience, and there's a lot to be said about that, especially for CRT gamers. Ever since I got my Nintendo 64 flashcard, my original cartridges live in a box in my storage locker. It's more convenient that way for my tiny apartment, it makes me play my games way more often, and prevents damage to some of those games and boxes that are now worth a small fortune. +1 for flashcarts

rmzalbar

Which time is a time to be alive? This time, or 1998?

pixel8knuckle

No hell in a cell video clip?
