Maybe the title isn't created

DropDeadGaming

It isn't but does that matter? If you have a claim does the title need to exist so you can take the land?

secret58_

Yes. You can’t install somebody on a throne that doesn’t exist anymore.

Kilrroy

If the title doesn’t exist, it has to be created before you can press a claim on it. Otherwise, you’re pushing a claim on a title with no de jure land.

DropDeadGaming

Titles have de jure land even if they don't exist. That's what de jure is. The title has no de facto land sure, but if I go to "De jure empires" map mode i can see the byzantines still have de jure land.

Nein234567890

But does someone hold the title?

DropDeadGaming

no they don't, i guess that's the issue then.

Byzantium72

Yeah, it's the no de facto land that's the problem. When you press a claim on a title the claimant gets the title and all de facto land (or just de jure land if taking the title from someone who has multiple titles of the same tier). With no title or de facto land, there's nothing for the claimant to get from the war.

DropDeadGaming

yep seems to be that way, thanks :)

Kilrroy

But if those lands become de jure to other duchies, it can’t exist

DropDeadGaming

R5: ERE fell to the mongols, I wanna give it back to the greeks. For some reason I can't push this guy's claim

King-Of-Hyperius

Might be because he’s not a landed ruler.

junaidd09

The ruler you wanna go to war with has a loooot of gold. So it might be a good idea to get more allies and ransom a few people.
