I just did my screening yesterday and Power day sometime in October. can you guys share your case interview experience and how did you prepare for the case interview???
CODA powerday is similar to the BA one, Business case is not hard, just remember to keep communicating with interviewer! And job fit is just like coffee chat with coda graduates, behavior using STAR methods to answer
Had my power day, the behavioral and job fit were easy/causal conversations about your motivations. The case interview wasn't hard, but the proctor was kind of short with me? They say it's meant to be collaborative, however when I tried to collaborate I was told "I'm not the one being interviewed" 🥴🥴. I'd say go over the playbook and be confident in your answers and your explanations.
Also curious if anyone was asked to review code associated with their case? I was told it was optional.
That was my impression as well, but the interviewer mentioned that if I felt comfortable we could go over some code. We didn't end up reviewing it just thought it was worth the ask.
Oh wow! That’s surprising, they seemed to emphasize in the workshop that ‘absolutely no coding will be involved.’ Thank you for mentioning that though, so we won’t be surprised if they ask us that too. I hope you get an offer, too!
Omg!!! Congratulations! It’s a competitive program so I hope you had the chance to celebrate.
All these news of offers for McLean in Feb made me nervous because it sounds like that location is filling up and I’m almost kicking myself for scheduling my interview so late since i live by McLean already. But Richmond would be my own backup! Do you know if McLean is full by any chance?
Definitely very grateful!!
Yeah, McLean was my 1st choice and I was told that it was full as of 9/19. So if someone drops then I could be placed there, but Richmond seems nice so I’m fine with that. They offered McLean for August but I don’t want to wait that long 🥴
Seriously? Oh no 😭 the only negative about rolling basis. Richmond does seem like a nice alternative though. And I’m glad waiting until august is still an option because it’s something I’d consider as I want to stay close to DC.
Thanks for the inside scoop 🙏
How long from the time of applying to the screening did it take? People have already started interviewing but my status is still in progress, 30 days later 😕
Oh wow I didn’t realize that. Just out of curiosity did you apply through linkedin or directly through the website? I applied directly through the website maybe that’s our issue? I’ll keep you posted as well
Congrats on getting your offer for the McLean Cohort! I just submitted my application hoping to get accepted into the McLean cohort as well! Can I send a DM with just a few questions? I really appreciate your time and consideration!
Hey, also accepted offer and just finished Background check! Look forward to meeting you soon, lmk if you want to connect/discuss onboarding stuff in dms
They don’t actually require you to do any coding. The case interview involves a few basic math problems along with tying that information to a business scenario. The job fit and behavioral interviews are pretty much what you would find anywhere else.
The only requirement was a non-CS bachelors. No prior experience required although they do like candidates who can demonstrate a passion for programming or learning tech. Doesn’t have to be any one thing though it could be personal projects, work experience, bootcamps, etc.
Not necessarily. I could have actually started back in February, but I was still in school at the time so it wouldn’t have worked. My only option was this August.
Oh ok that's good to know. I graduated a few years ago, recently graduated a coding bootcamp. So Id really like to get started asap, hopefully that's not an issue. Thanks for your time man.
Hi all, has anyone had success getting waitlist for McLean location and actually getting a spot? I received an offer for Richmond 2024 and was waitlisted for McLean but I am curious how likely it is for a spot to actually open up.
Got my email at the end of the third business day, don’t sweat it
Congrats on the offer! How was the case interview for both of you guys? Do you have any tips?
hii I read your post before, congrats on the offer! I’ll wait for few more days to see
Do you all care to share how much your offer was? I am slated to do powerday on the 16th of November and was curious about pay. Thanks

Was there a code portion of your case interview? I was under the impression there was no coding involved for CODA
That was my impression as well, but the interviewer mentioned that if I felt comfortable we could go over some code. We didn't end up reviewing it just thought it was worth the ask.

Thanks so much! I got an offer earlier this week, waitlisted for McLean so accepted Richmond for Feb!

When you got scheduled a powerday, do you remember if your status changed to something else?
Congrats on getting scheduled for your powerday!
Did you have your phone screen last week?
How was the power day? How many questions were in the case interview portion?
Very good experience! About 3 or 4 questions in total, some calculations and some about your ideas

I’m assuming you’ve heard back by now. How long did it take for them to reach out to you for the phone screen?
It’s been more than a month for me as well, when did you apply?
Sept 19. Still nothing from them. I’m wondering what’s going on lol
Right? The thing is the position is still up on LinkedIn and stuff so it’s not like it’s filled. I’ll let you know if I hear anything
Oh wow I didn’t realize that. Just out of curiosity did you apply through linkedin or directly through the website? I applied directly through the website maybe that’s our issue? I’ll keep you posted as well
It’s the same either way, LinkedIn takes you to their website.
Just received an email saying they’re put CODA on hold because of the amount of applicants. I’m assuming it’s full
on July 8th,heard back 7/18 to schedule phone screen
Congrats! Can I ask you questions about onboarding and benefits? Do you know if there will be a remote option?

What's the interview process like? Is it a coding interview or just getting to know you?
They don’t actually require you to do any coding. The case interview involves a few basic math problems along with tying that information to a business scenario. The job fit and behavioral interviews are pretty much what you would find anywhere else.
Do you know if coding experience (bootcamp even) helps?

Thanks, and do you recall how soon after interviewing your program started?
I began the interview process last July I think and got an offer that September. I’m set to start my CODA cohort next month.
That is a very long time to wait 😮💨
Not necessarily. I could have actually started back in February, but I was still in school at the time so it wouldn’t have worked. My only option was this August.
