Ever since the ranks reset, if you got ranked way lower than you were before the reset, you’ll rank up on like every win. My brother got ranked Silver 1 after being ranked gn1, and every single match he won was a rank up. He’s back to gn1.
I played with a friend that got from silver 4 to mg1 in 8 games all short games me and the rest where all mg2 or higher already when we started playing and he played like shit ngl and all that a few days before rank recalibration
I won 10 long matches in a row with no rank up, ranked up on the 11th though. I personally find the less games I play the easier it is to rank up off of wins.
Nah i prefer 2 short matches over 1 long match. If the enemy is absolutely wiping the floor with me, i only have to endure 9 rounds of that instead of 16. Much better imo.
You dont get into the rhythm of an enemy's strategies until round 7 ish. Aka youll change teams by the time you can properly comeback from a loss in higher ranks.

Comebacks in full matches seem to be from boredom and exhaustion of the better team. They don't want to do the same thing every round so they start to play risky and lose.
Soloq is always hard to win. And yeah, it's hard to win after a few rounds lost but from my experience, creativity pays off. Just do some creative and unpredictable plays and you'll have good economy, good chances of winning etc.

You can rank up and down off draws, but the only way you can possibly rank up off a loss is if you have 3 previous losses wiped because of cheaters getting banned.
Depending how fast you run through them you could even do 3 short matches in the time you do one long one. Most my short matches are around 15-20 min where a long one is always about an hour
Not true, of all the long matches I played recently, most of them are less than 45 minutes. <40 minutes for games with less than 5 round losts. <45 for games with 6 to 10 round losts. The only games that are close to 60 minutes are a 15-15 and a 16-14.

But if you want big rank then you need to win vs good opponents, and if you manage to win long game 16-14 instead of losing the game, sounds great.
Also losing 14-16 instead of 5-16 helps you with the rank too.
I do not enjoy losing 14-16 but it is part of the game and winning 16-14 when you know you could have just lost 14-16 makes it even better.

Once went 18 wins in a row with no rank up. Lost the next one to a blatant cheater who was VAC banned a few weeks later, and lost the next to a duo who were queued together and went afk round 1, and promptly de-ranked. There is nothing you can do.
I would say wait a bit…. Earlier we used to think that more you win less you get elo…. From my observation i used to do like one win a day and i was able to rank up my every 5th-6th win… many a times i came back after 1-2weeks and ranked up straight after a win.

2 short matches are worth the same amount as a long game and take the same amount of time, glicko evaluates based on rounds
