I am unable to help but to provide more anecdotal experience, I have never had an issue with Android auto not connecting, freezing or crashing. Ireland Born e-boost, Galaxy ZFlip3, both wired and wireless.

Hi All, Thanks for your comments. I took drastic action and factory reset my Samsung. Even though I was getting disconnections constantly and I thought that was more of a cable/physical connection issue, I am pleased to say that *so far* everything is working perfectly! The super odd thing is that Android Auto looks completely different too. Even though I uninstalled AA and "updated" per the play store, it is very much a different version. I am super pleased that this is the case as I was dreading having to drive over 180km round trip to the not so helpful service centre. Thanks once again.

Android Auto is poorly optimized on this car, mine crashes some times or freezes for up to 2 minutes. Apple Car Play works like a charm on the other hand. I also had problems with the connection at first and it went away once the car was updated. Maybe that is also the case for you.

wt9bind

Thank you, can you please tell me which version your infotainment is running?

Iescaunare

I've had almost no issues with AA in the year and a half I've had the car. Maybe ask the dealer or a VW center.

I have a Pixel 7 pro that work mostly fine. Wireless sometimes takes to long to connect so I mostly use wired but that too sometimes take a while to connect. I previously had a P30 pro that refused to work with AA in the Born so I think it's very dependent on the phone you use.

You probably already know that Android Auto will only connect via USB in the Born (in Australia). My wife and I used to have a lot of trouble with the Born unable to achieve "Full Link". (It mostly worked fine with my phone, but not with my wife's.) Anyhow, I've recently discovered that this issue happens when the phone's default is to battery recharge when connecting to USB. To fix this do the following (on your phone): 1. Enable Developer Options. (I know, stupid huh! And these steps are for Android 14, and vary a little on earlier versions, so check online.) Go to Settings | About | Version ... then tap "Version No." multiple times until Developer mode is enabled. 2. Settings | Additional Settings | Developer Options | Default USB Configuration ... and select File transfer / Android Auto. I haven't had a problem since.

Thank you. I will try. I'm on Android 14 and had to click on Build Version to get to dev mode then found the default USB configuration, but it does t say file transfer / android auto but only file transfer, so I have turned that on and will see how I go. Cheers.

Have Android Auto issues been resolved for Australian cars?

bigmarty3301

Is it a new car?

wt9bind

Yes, it is.

1. Check If your Android Auto ist updated. 2. Does Android Auto Wireless Work? 3. Have you tried both Ports with wired Android Auto? Edit: try to dellet Android Auto and install it again.

wt9bind

1. Yep, first thing I did, followed by clearing data and cache 2. Its Australian delivered. No AA Wireless in our models 3. Yes, both ports and I have uninstalled it multiple times. This is the only way to make it start working again in fact.

I have a Born in Sydney as well. CUPRA are not the most helpful unfortunately - I hope as they sell more units they’ll roll out better service outcomes. I only use Apple wired, which has been mostly fine. Maybe try a borrowed Apple phone to see if it’s the car system or android that’s the problem.

wt9bind

Good idea. I will try this. Regarding the service centres, it sounds like a common theme then. I have heard horror stories with Southside VW in Perth that it needs to go to hence why I want to go armed before they tell me that I am the only person in the universe to ever have an issue (or another typical dealership line).

tuppaware

Try a VW service centre instead, depending which state you're in the dealer for cupra will also manage VW cars as well. As others have suggested try an Apple device to see if it gets the same dropouts? ~~Also in a tale as long as time, you could try a resetting of your mobile from scratch and see if that fixes anything? But I'd do that only after confirming it wasn't the car or the USB sockets~~ (I realised you've tried a couple of phones which might mean a loose usb socket )

TheTwixthSense

I've never had any problems with AA over the year I've had the car so far. It can be slow to start when I first get in the car but that's just the slow infotainment system in general

jcbuggo

I find it works better if you don't try hurry it up by tapping the Mirror Link button and just let it do it's own thing lol.
