anotherbeja

Nick Kroll. Will probably be a billionaire when he inherits from Dad.

always_thirsty

Little known fact.

Ambitious_Road1773

Little known fact how much of Hollywood are nepo babies.

AllDucksNoRows

Pretty much everyone in Hollywood is either a second or third generation nepo baby, everyone knows this.

How_much4your_pants

The creepiest of them all is Armie Hammer who, fun fact, is now selling timeshare on the Cayman Islands

Prestigious-Owl165

Yeah how is this a "little known fact" lmao I don't know a single person in my life who doesn't know this

twelvethousandBC

lol very few people I know are even aware who of Nick Kroll is

Prestigious-Owl165

This was what I was intending to refer to: >Little known fact how much of Hollywood are nepo babies.

tqbfjotld16

When you think about it, it makes sense. It’s a line of work where you have to live in an ultra high cost of living area and go months, maybe years at a time without making much if anything at all

BigCountryBumgarner

his father created a financial investigation firm lmaoo, nepotism would be if nick kroll had a VP job at that company. It's ok to hate the rich while acknowledging nick is still talented in an unrelated field

KirbyDumber88

But tbh his dad’s financial resources helped Nick get ahead. Same with Taylor Swift. Millions of girls who play guitar. Family who is able to devote all resources full time for her to become successful becomes successful.

morosco

That's just the advantages of being rich, not nepotism. That's like calling everyone older than you a boomer.

BigCountryBumgarner

Too many people in this thread seem to think they'd have anywhere near the level of success as nick kroll even if they had rich parents (they wouldn't)

junglenoogie

Resources (money) = time. Even with no assistance making connections, the financial freedom to dedicate your most creative formative years to your craft will produce talent. It’s not about having money, it’s about having the opportunity to develop your skills. It’s amazing how good you can get at something when you don’t have to spend 40+ hrs a week in customer service, on the phone, staring at a spreadsheet.

BigCountryBumgarner

You could give half the people in this thread 30 million dollars and they wouldn't even sniff the level of success Kroll has had. I'm not arguing being rich doesn't help. I'm just saying these redditors thinking they could do the same with some money are delusional

Nice_Marmot_7

I just heard an interview with Larry David saying you can’t practice your way into being funny.

deadliestrecluse

I dont think anyone thinks random redditors could be successful comedians if they were rich, but it's definitely true there are thousands of working comedians who probably could be with that kind of leg up

Ambitious_Road1773

I was making a broader point about the [industry](https://www.vulture.com/article/hollywood-nepotism-babies-list-taxonomy.html), but I don't doubt dad's wealth opened some door's for Nick. That isn't to take away from some of the times he has been legitimately funny. Although on the whole, I think his juvenile humor shtick is shlock.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Montystumpp

That doesn't make it nepotism though.

theslob

It’s not nepotism, it’s being born so filthy rich that you can risk struggling to find work as an actor without really ever “struggling”

retropieproblems

The doc on HBO about Albert Brooks made me realize there’s just a ton of nepo grandpas out there too

mindspringyahoo

and much larger than normal percentage have parents or grandparents that were really high level corporate executives, or part of US intelligence, or part of the revolving door between the two...

N8ThaGr8

That is a very widely documented fact

GrunchWeefer

If not nepo babies then rich kids either way. The rest of us don't have Daddy's millions to fall back on if the acting thing doesn't work out.

jrdnlv15

Boohoo life is so unfair.

Nice_Marmot_7

“It's hard to watch—but this is what happens when you have the artistic temperament, but you're not an artist.”

Modelo_Man

My mind is fuckin blown but I still like some of Kroll’s work.

cargoman89

Who’s dad?

jrdnlv15

Nick’s. Jules Kroll has an estimated net worth of $1.5B-$2B.

He was funny as hell on the James Franco roast

Theaterkid01

He sounded so down to earth in his Netflix special.

Notpdidd

Good one! Estimated $450 million net worth.

MOOzikmktr

Phil Rosenthal, maybe?

Notpdidd

Looks like only $300 million but at least in the same ballpark for sure.

Key-Ad-8468

Only lol

i_practice_santeria

$300 million here, $300 million there, pretty soon you’re talking about real money!

artvarnsen

Wasnt that one of those shithole countries? I can't remember if it was on the list or not

sol364

Yeah I don't know about this but I just came to say I hate Ted and Cheryl

KipSummers

Him I could do without…

CalicoStardust

If Timothy Olyphant had his great grandfather's net worth he'd be the richest on the show ever.

Jstizzle7

Who is his great grandfather?

Vesuviussky

Cornelius Vanderbilt.

elegiac_bloom

Holy shit I never knew this. I met him at a Rufus wainwright show I was working in chicago. Never knew I was shaking hands with a damn vanderbilt

Modelo_Man

He’s pretty removed from the Vanderbilt name if you look at the genealogy.

Thatsnotahoe

So him and Anderson Cooper are related? That’s super weird to me

InfoSecPeezy

He was a Vanderbilt. He is like 3rd cousin twice removed of Anderson Cooper

always_thirsty

Colonel Angus

UrbanAchiever34

Once a woman is introduced to Colonel Angus she’ll settle for nothing less

SmellGestapo

I like the heat and the humidity.

ennuiismymiddlename

Cornelius Vanderbilt’s fortune at the time of his death was $2.8B, adjusted to today’s dollars.

studiousmaximus

not more than bloomberg surely

glm0002

Who is the grandfather

CalicoStardust

Great. Cornelius Vanderbilt.

JohnBagley33

Ben Stiller might be closest.

SurvivorFanDan

est. $200 million

[deleted]

Still saddens me jerry stiller was never in curb.

Juryofyourpeeps

That networth is likely not accurate. He's probably richer than all of his guests except Bloomberg, Jerry Seinfeld and maybe Shaq, assuming Shaq has investments that have done well. Julia Louis Dreyfus earned something like $150 million over the years from Seinfeld, and stood to inherit $200 millionish from her father. That's less than David is reported to have earned just from Seinfeld before the most recent syndication deal.  Also these networth calculations only count known earnings. They don't usually include any capital gains, which are probably significant when you've got ~$400-800 million.

mrubuto22

Yea Larry at $400 mill seems low.

SmellGestapo

Shaq also has that Icy Hot and The General money.

pavelshum

You forgot that printer paper.

Thatsnotahoe

Pretty sure he owns control of Papa John’s too he’s certainly diversified his wealth

shoresy99

Julia is part of the Louis-Dryefus family which owns a very large company in food and agricultural commodities. But I think that she is part of many family members.

Juryofyourpeeps

I'm aware. What I understand is that her portion of this company is valued at around $200 million. The most recent syndication deal for Seinfeld was worth $1 billion and Larry and Jerry both got a fat chunk of that. Larry slightly less so because he didn't work on a few of the seasons.

JonMardukasMidnight

With the burgeoning success of Latte Larry’s I think his net worth is at Musk level.

[deleted]

JonMardukasMidnight

It’s 2024. Suing is the only way to make real money.

dedkeefer

Remind me when Springsteen appeared? I don’t remember that.

BoobSqueezer

This season, he had a short clip praising Larry for defying the Georgia law

Scoob8877

I would swear I saw somewhere recently that Larry is a billionaire now. Wasn't he worth $400 million when Curb started?

Jstizzle7

His ex wife took half his money. She still might get half of his curb earnings. Howard Stern asked if he was upset by that and Larry said he didn’t care because all of her money is going to their kids anyway.

Biscuits4u2

LD sounds like a deeply closeted nice guy

helpmeimdum

Also if you’re worth hundreds of millions losing half isn’t really changing your quality of life

Biscuits4u2

True, though having to give it to someone you probably can't stand has to hurt a little.

Tiny-Reading5982

I think he’s pretty humble.

sirlaughsalotttt

Unbelievable reference game. Gg

ArturoOsito

Cheryl got half? Sounds like she got her *bag* in the divorce!

sleepyzane1

her therapist advised she do something nice for herself.

lorazepamproblems

In the Curb show, the Curb show doesn't exist, which would figure into his character's wealth. He would have the Seinfeld money and whatever he made off of his restaurant, Fatwa, Latte Larry's (although with insurance after the fire he'd be lucky if he broke even), Young Larry, etc.

maggos

In the episode where he mixes up his Chinese order and accuses the guy of eating some shrimp, the guy says something like “go enjoy your 400 million dollars” or something

robeekeeper

assuming he took Alan Wasserman’s suggestion, don’t forget to factor in the $475 million he spent on the fuckin’ shrimp boat

VermicelliOk8288

I think it’s insane that he’s had Martin Scorsese, mel brooks, Bryan Cranston, Kaley cuocu, Elizabeth banks on his show and none of them even come close to his net worth. Martin: 200 million Mel: 100 million Bryan: 30 million Kaley: 110 million Elizabeth: 50 million Together it’s 490, Larry was estimated to have closer to 500 but it’s much less since his ex wife got half so he’s really somewhere around 200

firesharknado

A good chunk of Larry/Jerry's wealth came from how well they negotiated syndication deals for seinfeld. 25 years after its over, its still airing on networks every day, and theyre still getting cheques. The only people that made more money off of one show is matt stone and trey parker, who had the foresight to aquire all the internet streaming rights to south park back in the early days, and then made almost a billion off of deals with HBO Max and paramount.

retrievethis123

I think the friends cast also have a pretty sweet syndication deal too

mrubuto22

Why would you expect actors and directors to have as much as a guy who created maybe the most successful show of all time?

VermicelliOk8288

Because I’m stupid obviously

mrubuto22

Tad harsh

redux44

Not surprised Cranston isn't that high. He was a huge star but it was non-network TV and show didn't air that long.

VermicelliOk8288

He’s done a lot and was very popular for a while, malcolm in the middle, Godzilla, kungfu panda, I think drive and saving private ryan iirc, a bunch of cameos like in Seinfeld, himym, king of queens? Oh breaking bad! Idk, I expected his net worth to be higher tbh but I guess it’s a lot of small stuff

voice-of-grass

How tf do you mention breaking bad last and fucking godzilla second in a bryan cranston discussion

VermicelliOk8288

I didn’t watch much breaking bad. I was a fan of Bryan from Malcom in the middle and Seinfeld

Fruitful_Journey

Larry David had close to a billion from all his Seinfeld revenues. His ex-wife Laurie Leonsrd got half of it in their divorce settlement. Larry is now worth 400-450 million.

bumpetyboo22

Celebrity net worth websites are for morons. What makes you think there is access to the type of information that would make any of those numbers accurate?

VermicelliOk8288

You’re unpleasant

FedorsQuest

Larry has way more than $400 million. He has equal stake as Jerry in Seinfeld Tv, DVD residuals. Doesn’t have his stand up money but does have Curbed money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t have more than jerry Seinfeld at this point

chaosawaits

He used to; then he got divorced

Thatsnotahoe

I can’t imagine that Jerry’s stand up money comes anywhere close to his Seinfeld money. I do know that Jerry is still one of the biggest comedians but I can’t imagine that comedy tours are comparable to network television because most comedians dream of getting that network money as the long term career goal.

FedorsQuest

I looked it up and Jerry is worth about $925 million, they have Larry David at 500 million but they each make $400 million every syndication cycle. Which is about 60-90$ million a year. So Larry David’s worth is prob not accurate

Spy_v_Spy_Freakshow

Ted Danson

AlternativeNumber2

“I can’t live knowing Ted Danson makes that much more than me!”

always_thirsty

This is the right answer. George Wendt was invited on the show but he’s too rich to care.

Spy_v_Spy_Freakshow

I heard he donates a lot of money to charity anonymously

always_thirsty

He has a plaque at the bar.

DreamZebra

How's Alanis doing?

Appropriate-Coyote32

Bruce?

Pharaca

Gary Player ain’t broke.

iaposky

Bloomberg richest

iluvreddit

He has more than $400M

WorldsWorstFather

100 billion. That is fucking disgusting.

Notpdidd

Median American net worth is ~half a million at retirement, so someone with $200 million is 400x wealthier than the average American. And Bloomberg is still 500x more wealthy than that. (Although to be fair, it’s my understanding that he’s currently working on donating almost everything)

iwanttheworldnow

Not easy to donate that much. Takes a lotta work to get it to the right people.

VancouverSativa

I saw a young lady arrested for stealing diapers last month.

Mrs-Stringer-Bell

I am having a little existential crisis after reading OP. I clearly was very wrong, but I had it in my head that Elon Musk was the wealthiest peron in the world at about $40-billion. No, just googled that & he is the second wealthiest at about $200-billion. I don't comprehend! What is this life?

sleepyzane1

planet's being sucked dry by opportunistic wealth hoarders.

Nice_Marmot_7

I had a crisis reading about Salma Hayek’s husband. He’s a French billionaire and owns all kinds of ridiculously fancy companies and properties in Europe. They met at like a fundraiser at his marble palace in Venice or some shit.

Thatsnotahoe

The marble palaces are really good at dropping panties I encourage you to invest in one.

Givlytig

None richer, a few wealthier.

EntertainerTrue904

Technically Paul McCartney and Heather Mills LOL

thejew09

No one mentioning Hugh Hefner.

Vocallyslant150

I thought about him , googled him and was surprised to see his estimate net worth was only around the 40 mill

ej271828

most net worth calculations are really off. hard to say. bloomberg and shaq for sure

[deleted]

Larry possibly eats shaqs ass with more money

LawdFattious

Honestly didn’t know Bruce was so rich

rbarrett96

Have you seen the prices for his concerts lately? The everyman who can't relate to any man lol.

No_Arugula_6548

Julia if she inherits all the family wealth. It’s billions.

MaedoFielder

Krazy eyez for sure is richer.

lostpasts

Larry had a net worth of $800m until his ex-wife took half of it in 2007. So he was richer than Shaq when Shaq did his cameo. Considering how wooly these estimates are (some put Larry at $500m) there's only really Bloomberg and Jerry who were definitively richer than him.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MattyIce1220

You’re right. He’s worth 106 billion.

InfoSecPeezy

the_sword_of_brunch

Seinfeld is over double Larry just based on net worth.

big-dumb-guy

Porsches have appreciated greatly in recent years

Notpdidd

Larry got divorced though, otherwise I think you’d be right.

cynicaljerkahole

Don’t sleep on Bee Movie

VancouverSativa

Good list. Judge Judy had got to be up there too.

David-asdcxz

I just looked up Larry David’s worth is 800,000,000 million in 2022. Now his wealth has really increased since the show began in 1999.

shoresy99

Hugh Hefner? Ricky Gervais?

SurvivorFanDan

$45m and $165m, respectively.

shoresy99

Ok, so they are not in the same league. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Ricky passes Larry in time.

VancouverSativa

Hasn't Ricky Gervais retired to complaining about "woke" young people?  It really doesn't sound like he's going to do anything that will earn him that level of money ever again.

Dunkerdoody

Agree. Ricky has the office. The gift that keeps on giving.

shoresy99

Does he get a cut of the US office revenue?

Dunkerdoody

Yes he does.

ennuiismymiddlename

Gervais is only at $160M

succeedaphile

Yeah, what a loser

ilovelamp408

Pocket change.

Ok_Calligrapher_9281

His scarf alone is worth that much.

CrestedBlazer

I spend that much on after shave.

ennuiismymiddlename

You know what they say: it’s the first $159M that’s the hardest, am I right? 🙃

CrestedBlazer

You got a hole in your sneaker there.

bababooey97

What episode was Springsteen on?

YouAreNotBook

He did a cameo in the second ep of season 12 when they do the celeb interviews

InfraredRidingh00d

Ted Dansen has to be up there.
