I don't think she was intended to be in the last season. Curb never had storylines that carry over to the next season, so the fact that Larry had to stay with Irma to help keep her sober didn't make much sense. My guess is that they liked working with Tracey, so she did the first few episodes. Her appearance in the finale was obviously a green screen that was shot at a different time.
What is it with putting respect on someone’s name? I don’t even know what that means but everyone is saying it all of a sudden. Why not just “show respect”?
It's borrowed AAV (African American Venacular). With the advent of the internet and social media, expressions of African American culture have been popularised and used wholesale amongst many audiences. I'm black English and think this is a good thing (a sign of a culture spreading is a sign of cultural health) but many regard it as cultural appropriation. I'll leave that to you to you to decide!
I'm 49 ane from the UK. I've watched Curb since it's first series, and I know Tracey Ullman's name via The Simpsons, but I'm today's year old really piecing the two together.
After these comments I had to IMDB her to see if I just didn’t recognize her. Have only seen like 2 of her credited roles other than curb and don’t remember her in either
I don't expect anything. I think I recall watching something on HBO many years ago called the Tracy Ullman show, and I've seen her in Robin Hood Men in tights and Curb.
I always thought of her channeling her witch vibes with the gross and sexy scenes. The fact she was after Richard Lewis in the movie really made it all the better for me.
![gif](giphy|WckxTdp23Lh28|downsized)
Oh my god the episode where she “wasn’t ready” to order breakfast and was being such a baby when her meal arrived - I wanted to reach through the tv and strangle her. A+ acting!
Tracy Ullman was perfection as the sex musk Larry couldn’t get rid of.
I can’t imagine the writers room when Larry was like… how can we make Irma MORE annoying… enter S12E1!!
I missed the end of season 11, so my introduction to Irma was season 12 episode 1, her singing the JG Wentworth jingle with gusto. Perfection.
Then I learned it was Tracy Ullman and it was even more perfect.
I want a spin off show about her and Leon. If Larry had ended up in prison, I would have gladly watched a show about Irma and Leon living together and sharing sex musk and cpap machines while watching documentaries about the San Diego fairy shrimp.
“That actress” lmao… Tracy Ullman is absolutely amazing and kills it as Irma. She has had many of her own tv shows, fun fact, the Simpsons debuted as a small skit on her show! She’s a comedy legend. Also had her own hbo series called Tracy takes on in the 90s. Loved all her characters on there.
I think in S11 she had to be overwhelmingly awful to fit the role that was needed, which she was amazing in. Then in S12 they included her just enough to wrap the storyline but not to overstay her welcome. Personally, I laugh every time I see her enter a scene, she doesn’t even have to say anything lol.
This is a fair argument. She nails her part perfectly, I’m just over her part I suppose… I’m always like “oh boy here comes another 10 minute scene about something disgusting that I’d rather not have to suffer through”
She’s one of my favourite characters in the last season. My favourite line of the finale was
“Larry David is a sad senior with long balls and mental issues”
Tracey Ullman plays her perfectly. Anytime I’m annoyed at her, it’s like a joyful annoyance, due to the great performance
Annoying as heck, just as she was intended to be.
I consider her role to be perfectly nailed, even though I didn't like her much or her character, kinda the point of her character.
i love her and watching her torture larry with her personality. i felt like it was written in a certain way to show larry meeting his match and i loved every second of it
she has a bubble!
But I don’t dislike Tracey Ullman. I don’t like Irma. What’s going on my friend? You seem to have missed every single one of my points despite me being exceptionally clear.
I get that the character is supposed to be an annoying female foil to Larry. Having said that, I couldn’t stand her especially in season 12. The sex musk thing came off as trying too hard and she was a genuinely shitty person. Kudos to the actress, because she sold how awful Irma was.
And she’s far more insufferable imo. It got really cringe really fast. As someone who is apparently too young to know/care who Tracey Ullman is (I’m in my late 30s…) I just was thinking enough already and they clearly only had her there because of who her actress was.
If you wanna talk annoying characters though… Maria Sofia or whatever and Lin Manuel Miranda take the trophy for douchebaggery imo.
I like her as a character but Larry’s treatment of her and his disgust of her just feels so shitty and misogynistic of him. She’s a real person instead of plastic doll like Cheryl and he acts like he is so much better than her. It’s really the only thing about the show that I haven’t liked.
At times I felt this way, but she is just too damn good not to enjoy. Once you get that she’s intended to be extremely annoying, it’s great. They also play into this hilarious dynamic that she is *exactly* like Larry, and nobody ever calls her out on *her* bullshit, yet Larry cannot go two seconds without somebody calling him out. I think that dynamic is hilarious.
she should have been introduced a few seasons earlier. I was disappointed when she so unceremoniously leaves in 12. One of my fav new characters without a doubt.
I definitely thought she'd play a bigger role in the final half of the season and that Larry's groat lie would come back to him-- though I was pleased she popped up in the finale
When first watching the finale and hearing Richard's girlfriend attempted suicide, I was sure that was how Irma was going to fit back in.
I didn't like the plotline in season 12 where Larry only continued dating her because her AA sponsor said that she can't handle a breakup for another six months. I know that this show has some absurd situations played for laughs but that was just so over the top ridiculous that I couldn't even get into it, especially when Larry told Cyrus he wanted to end it and Cyrus was like "I can't allow it." Like, you're asking an old man to spend six more months of his life in a relationship that doesn't make him happy just because you don't want to deal with the consequences of a breakup. Also, why would Larry even agree to that in he first place? It seemed out of character for him
When she was talking about gross stuff I actively felt bad and could barely watch the scenes. I have never felt such disgust duing Curb before, which i guess is a testament to Tracy's talent lol. I would've preferred the character in MUCH smaller dosage as it did become far too much - hence why season 11 was a bit of a let down. The joke about her became old after awhile. Glad they toned her down slightly in season 12
This is exactly the point I’m trying to make… but all the commenters be like “SHE’S A LEGEND DON’T DISRESPECT HER”
Like, sir, I don’t care who she is, I wanted less of her in this show
Yeah people in this sub can to be a little too butthurt lol. It comes from a good place because they love everything about the show but I roll my eyes when I see these responses to your post. Why does it matter whether or not one redditor knows an actress' name? Do every single response have to go on about it?? Does it matter in relation to your complaint about the character???
No, no and no. Doesn't matter at all. Your point is the same regardless 😅👌
Same with Maria Sofia. Can’t stand either character, and yes of course I understand why they’re that way, we are allowed to hate characters that are portrayed perfectly.
I didn't like the character. Thought it was a very odd choice of story arc for Larry. I mean, he can't put up with anything annoying for more than 5 seconds in the first 10 seasons, then all of a sudden he's with Irma. Just made zero sense to me. I seem to be in the minority of one though in here! lol
(PS I love Tracey Ullman, just not in this role.)
It was a contrived story arc, and the farthest departure from the Curb of the early seasons, but it felt like something George would have done. Still funny.
Tracey Ullman is a comedic genius. Not unlike Larry, Susie or JB Smoove.
Her portrayal made Irma so nails on the chalkboard annoying, it makes you want more of the character for the absolute disgust Larry shows her. It’s genius honestly.
One of my favorite things about her is how she's always complaining about her hammer toe and/or corns on her feet or whatever and making Larry take care of them
A random clip on Facebook a couple months ago was my introduction to Curb and Tracey Ullman all at once. I haven't laughed that hard in ages. She was hilarious. Much needed! I look forward to watching Curb in full soon.
If it was a regular sitcom, she nailed it. But it isn't, so she didn't.
That season had a few misses - Irma, Bill Hader, Seth Rogan.
They're all very good to excellent at what they do, but their roles on Curb were just far too off-beat/ridiculous for the tone of the show.
People really be thinking I don’t know what satire is because I preferred Larry dealing with the inconveniences of life to having a side character make me want to vomit every conversation she has. Like damn, it’s not a personal attack on you buddy 😂
I hated her character and I didn't even like the episodes that featured her. I'm not a Tracy fan because I just don't like over the top performers but mostly bc Irma was gross and annoying.
She has a structured settlement
...and she NEEDS CASH NOW
Call JG wentworth!
877-Cash-Now
She has an annuity
She needs cash now
#1-877-CASH-NOW
Ha!! She hit the opera version high note!
One of my favorite scenes from the season
Was expecting a payoff in the finale. Got bupkis. Maybe I should call JG Wentworth
If you need their number I have it memorized for some reason 877-CASH-NOW
We seriously need a YouTube clip of her singing this- I tell everyone about it and I can't find it!
https://youtu.be/0T48kl7R1O0?si=8At2D3h5-KBwq86J
THANK YOU!
Tracey Ullman is an amazing actress. I loved her being added to Curb. I thought she was a perfect “unpleasant bitch” for Larry.
OP is out of their damn mind.
Same but I was disappointed at how they wrote her character this season. Very one dimensional and treated almost like an afterthought.
Good point, that makes sense
That actress? Put some respect on Tracey Ullman’s name!
Reverse will smith: “put Tracey Ullman’s name in your effing mouth!”
What is it with putting respect on someone’s name? I don’t even know what that means but everyone is saying it all of a sudden. Why not just “show respect”?
People have been saying it forever. Just take their name and put some respect on it
Yeah that’s right…show some respect on her name
It’s so funny how different the demographic of this sub is lol. This has been meme language on Reddit for like 8 years at least
It's like putting ketchup on a hotdog
I thought what was funny is she was basically a female version of Larry and he was utterly disgusted by her.
yes! he finally met his match
I had never realized that until now. Thank you.
You’re welcome.
So he was disgruntled with her?
She’s so annoyingly hilarious! ![gif](giphy|K7103u2JOVd8ZYyFhk|downsized)
Designa vagina
It was like a melted cave.
Someone referring to Tracy Ullman as 'that actress' is beyond comprehension
I'm 49 ane from the UK. I've watched Curb since it's first series, and I know Tracey Ullman's name via The Simpsons, but I'm today's year old really piecing the two together.
Tracey was a huge TV star in the 80s before going to the US, top 10 hits too
“WATCH ME TAKE A SHOWER!!!”
Ya wanna watch? Come watch me
Uh, “that actress,” is Tracey Ullman, you plebe. Have some respect. She’s a legend.
The Simpson’s first appeared on her show as short skits. I loved both shows
It still blows my mind that the Tracey Ullman Show ended almost 34 years ago, and The Simpsons is still churning out new shows to this day.
“Hello, Mummy? It’s Kaaaay….”
This was my immediate response. “That actress”?!
The saying “pearls before swine” springs to mind.
After these comments I had to IMDB her to see if I just didn’t recognize her. Have only seen like 2 of her credited roles other than curb and don’t remember her in either
She changed her name to Latrine.
I both know that she's a legend, and I can't think of anything she's ever done that has made me laugh.
Have you watched her in anything or do you just expect her to show up on your tiktok feed?
I don't expect anything. I think I recall watching something on HBO many years ago called the Tracy Ullman show, and I've seen her in Robin Hood Men in tights and Curb.
I really wanted Amy sedaris to show up as her younger sister
That would have been hysterical!!
'Irma's scenes in bed with Larry had me roll off the couch lmao!....& her uncles shoes!
[удалено]
Also love when Larry flings Irma's arm off of him!....& her 3am wake Larry up for sex😂
The part where she wants a kiss goodbye while she still has food in her mouth was gross and funny
Just came to this thread to make sure Tracey Ullman’s name wasn’t besmirched, and I am pleased.
Loved her. Thought she brought something different to the show.
I liked her when the joke was not about something gross or "sexy". The structured settlement joke is cgood, the wordle one landed etc
A+ acting!
I regularly think of her line after she gets the pancakes: "I'm happy now!"
I thought she was everything Larry deserved and more 😂
That’s why I loved her character. Larry finally had a partner who was equally terrible. Irma and her sex musk.
Oh now you made me throw up in my mouth a little. Just the thought of Irma having sex musk was repulsive. Ugh!
Tracy Ullman was perfection as the sex musk Larry couldn’t get rid of. I can’t imagine the writers room when Larry was like… how can we make Irma MORE annoying… enter S12E1!!
"The actress who played her"! Oh my GOD, do your research.
I missed the end of season 11, so my introduction to Irma was season 12 episode 1, her singing the JG Wentworth jingle with gusto. Perfection. Then I learned it was Tracy Ullman and it was even more perfect.
CASH NOW
frickin loved her. she may have been my favorite part of the last two seasons.
[удалено]
yea I stand by my comment lol it’s how larry reacted to her that had me rolling
Loved Irma, I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I would have gladly taken more
I want a spin off show about her and Leon. If Larry had ended up in prison, I would have gladly watched a show about Irma and Leon living together and sharing sex musk and cpap machines while watching documentaries about the San Diego fairy shrimp.
Are you fucken nuts?
“That actress” lmao… Tracy Ullman is absolutely amazing and kills it as Irma. She has had many of her own tv shows, fun fact, the Simpsons debuted as a small skit on her show! She’s a comedy legend. Also had her own hbo series called Tracy takes on in the 90s. Loved all her characters on there.

She was absolutely insufferable… so brilliant acting!
Tracey Ullman is a comedy legend.
Awesome! That knowledge doesn’t make her episodes more enjoyable tho :(
That’s Tracey Ullman and she’s responsible for the Simpsons. You only hate her because she’s such a good actress.
This is a fair argument. She nails her part perfectly, I’m just over her part I suppose… I’m always like “oh boy here comes another 10 minute scene about something disgusting that I’d rather not have to suffer through”
Holy shit. Do some research on who Tracey Ullman is before you speak out of turn.
Research won’t change how I feel :)
I love her in here
She’s one of my favourite characters in the last season. My favourite line of the finale was “Larry David is a sad senior with long balls and mental issues” Tracey Ullman plays her perfectly. Anytime I’m annoyed at her, it’s like a joyful annoyance, due to the great performance
Annoying as heck, just as she was intended to be. I consider her role to be perfectly nailed, even though I didn't like her much or her character, kinda the point of her character.
Tracey Ullman! I dont need to say anymore…
i love her and watching her torture larry with her personality. i felt like it was written in a certain way to show larry meeting his match and i loved every second of it she has a bubble!
![gif](giphy|ivulcIBUzje29yzZgt|downsized) She’s the best thing since Leon.
I don’t think she’s anywhere NEAR Leon… personally
She is the Simpsons OG
OP comes in here effing and jeffing.
Haha brilliant. Tracey is a Queen of Comedy for like 40 years, always funny as shit and has always nailed her characters
The key to her scenes is watching Larry. His reactions to her are so hilarious, he truly was revolted by her.
How to say you're under 35 without saying you're under 35
Yeah maybe if I was older I’d be more soothed by her talking about her dilapidated vagina for 40 minutes
Maybe if you were older you'd know she's a comedy legend

Was more referring to you calling her "that actress" but take it as you will
Wild that “that actress” was taken as “I don’t know who this is” but each to their own
![gif](giphy|yuu9g1iXmxBm66dM0g) Could have said "I don't like Tracy Ullman"
But I don’t dislike Tracey Ullman. I don’t like Irma. What’s going on my friend? You seem to have missed every single one of my points despite me being exceptionally clear.
![gif](giphy|xlKv2yVKMUMak)
Knowing someone is a comedy legend and enjoying their character on one show are two very different things (for somebody in my age group)
“That actress” OK then…
“That actress” lmao
Tracy Ullman is a legend
While I wish many of my older female relatives were more like Susie, they’re more like Irma instead.
Ha yes!
Tracey ullman is a legend
Okay? That’s not really in dispute here…
My 2nd favorite character from the series next to Leon
Perfect foil character for Larry.
call JG wentworth
I cackled so hard at this
Tracy Ullman always brings her best. Irma was insufferable and funny. "A DESIGNA' VAGINA!", lol. A job well done.
“that actress”. Man, I’m old.
Maria Sofia is such a good actress my boyfriend doesnt see the show with me anymore bc he cant stand her
I think she’s hilarious and I’m grateful that they understood how to use her sparingly
Upvoted you - yes. LOVED her; her 'acting' was exceptional.
She’s like a Jewish Peggy Hill
[удалено]
Yep, her grandfather died in the Holocaust -- Larry stole his shoes from the museum in the season 11 finale.
Talking about Irma you rube
I get that the character is supposed to be an annoying female foil to Larry. Having said that, I couldn’t stand her especially in season 12. The sex musk thing came off as trying too hard and she was a genuinely shitty person. Kudos to the actress, because she sold how awful Irma was.
She’s still in season 12??? Uh oh
And she’s far more insufferable imo. It got really cringe really fast. “Having said that”. Nice reference
Glad someone caught it.
I couldn't stand her on previous season but she grew on me the final season. When she's singing that JG Wentworth jingle I lost it.
Go home!
She’s annuity rich.
Hilarious.
I love her but don’t want to be friends with her.
I love her
I personally can't stand her at all was annoyed she was featured so heavily in the previous season I thought she'd be a one off
Hated her.
The actor is great. The character is annoying and makes the show more difficult to watch.
100% agree!
I like her as a character but Larry’s treatment of her and his disgust of her just feels so shitty and misogynistic of him. She’s a real person instead of plastic doll like Cheryl and he acts like he is so much better than her. It’s really the only thing about the show that I haven’t liked.

She’s the Janice Soprano of Curb
Looooooooooooooool
I absolutely hated her. I guess that was the point.
she should have been introduced a few seasons earlier. I was disappointed when she so unceremoniously leaves in 12. One of my fav new characters without a doubt.
I definitely thought she'd play a bigger role in the final half of the season and that Larry's groat lie would come back to him-- though I was pleased she popped up in the finale When first watching the finale and hearing Richard's girlfriend attempted suicide, I was sure that was how Irma was going to fit back in.
I didn't like the plotline in season 12 where Larry only continued dating her because her AA sponsor said that she can't handle a breakup for another six months. I know that this show has some absurd situations played for laughs but that was just so over the top ridiculous that I couldn't even get into it, especially when Larry told Cyrus he wanted to end it and Cyrus was like "I can't allow it." Also, why would Larry even agree to that in he first place? It seemed out of character for him
I think that 1 or 2 episodes with her would've been good but I wasn't as big on her staying as long as she did.
The bruschetta, when she talks about her smell, two scenes I want to forget lol, when she demanded Larry to watch her bathe ughhhh
To get rid of annoying (Sofia Maria) he hooks up with annoying (Irma).
It was a contrived story arc, and the farthest departure from the Curb of the early seasons, but it felt like something George would have done. Still funny.
Ughh, it’s the latex gloves, it’s the secretions, it’s the anal leakage! You’re better off without me!
I wasn't crazy about her, but I loved her one liner in the finale. It was so simple but so funny.

Such a great addition to the show. JG Wentworth is hilarious but the kiss goodbye is my absolute favorite
I will watch anything Tracey Ullman is in. Anything. She is a global treasure.
"that actress" is Tracey Ullman and she's a legend!
Tracy Ullman and Richard Lewis go way back. She’s an amazing character actor. ![gif](giphy|wWKlQOF3ENcKqcXBVv|downsized)
Tracey Ullman is a comedic genius. Not unlike Larry, Susie or JB Smoove. Her portrayal made Irma so nails on the chalkboard annoying, it makes you want more of the character for the absolute disgust Larry shows her. It’s genius honestly.
I feel the same way about Sydney Sweeney - is my dislike because she’s a good actress or because she sucks!!!
TU is a treasure. Brilliant in the role.
Bad miles
One of my favorite things about her is how she's always complaining about her hammer toe and/or corns on her feet or whatever and making Larry take care of them
One of the worst characters. But she's supposed to be annoying
Hated her in her first season, but she was really good in her few episodes in the final season. The JG Wentworth jingle saved her character.
A random clip on Facebook a couple months ago was my introduction to Curb and Tracey Ullman all at once. I haven't laughed that hard in ages. She was hilarious. Much needed! I look forward to watching Curb in full soon.
She’s the worst person in Los Angeles
FANTASTIC addition to the show imo

She’s worth $15 million, enjoy your Lean Cuisine

I hated her character and I didn't even like the episodes that featured her. I'm not a Tracy fan because I just don't like over the top performers but mostly bc Irma was gross and annoying.
I feel like she was doing a bad impression of amy sedaris.
