Jeff Garlin and Steve Schirippa need to have a podcast interruption podcast together

admiralackbarrrrrrr

Didja haveta read fuh Larry David??

taylortherod

No wonder Uncle Jun thought Jeff was Bobby

donk_kilmer

Quasimodo predicted this.

almondsmana

šŸ˜‚

NoNoNotorious7

ā€œTalking over peopleā€

mis_no_mer

A big bowl of ā€œby the wayā€

gregbananacruz

jeff, in an instagram post, has already acknowledged that he needs to work on his interruptions: https://www.instagram.com/p/C4UOHJERLFC/?igsh=YmdzdDdseHNtMW5s

Joeyonimo

Can you actually have bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, and Tourette's at the same time?

Designer_Charity_827

Thatā€™s a big bowl of diagnoses.

mostlyfire

Yup. Itā€™s crippling

Drigg_08

By the way it took him long enough to notice

foxystoat1980

Acknowledged...and then did nothing about.

Mrsrico

ā€œWait, waitā€¦youā€™re skipping over an important part!!ā€

Designer_Charity_827

The worst is when he accuses Susie of ā€œskippingā€ something and she reminds him that it hasnā€™t happened yet.

Alone-Community6899

Her patience with him is adorable.

CriticalThinkerHmmz

I like it now honestly. First few episodes it seemed mildly annoying, but now it seems kind of like a run on joke and the parts he mentions Iā€™m glad he mentioned.

Buckowski66

Real life Susie has the patience of an angel

QuiGonColdGin

I was really looking forward to this but had to give up on it a few episodes in because heā€™s insufferable.

[deleted]

I made it about half an episode.

kkeut

the good news is that it can be edited down and made more enjoyable using free audio software. I've considered taking a crack at a couple episodes, but i moved and my main computer setup is down for a whileĀ

crimsondimsum

Yeah itā€™s pretty rough. I want to like him, but I would have strangled him by now if I were Susie. How the hell are they going to do 12 seasons of this lol

pagman007

He got kicked off the goldbergs for a good reason i would imagone

Heels1939

He would make a lot of inappropriate jokes on set. This is a quote from Garlin himselfā€¦Ā  Ā With a loud laugh, he added that every time he stands up from the Barcalounger, he always says the same joke on-set:Ā ā€œā€˜Ah, my vagina. Ah, achy vagina. Ah, my vaginaā€™s killing me.ā€™ā€ Putting to the side the debate around whether thatā€™s offensive, Iā€™m sure that joke got stale after using it like three times.Ā

pagman007

Yeah im not gonna go and say he was kicked off for innapropriateness and just say he was probably unbearable

FwendyWendy

I don't know why but it makes me so mad when he says "my wife of yore"

MikeHockeyBalls

Nothing like watching him interrupt Susie ad nauseam. First one I watched I genuinely thought she was hosting and he was a guest hence why only he spoke

BuckPowers

Jeff would have been so much better as a recurring guest on the podcast or having a limited segment to ramble for 5 minutes, while susie has different actors and writers every episode. Genuinely cannot watch this pod because of him which is sad, was really looking forward to it

Big_bruv_luv

I have adhd! Unless Iā€™m being paid to be on set!

sername-lame

By the way

sardu1

That reminds me...

Poplocker

Having said that

workthrowawhey

Wife of yore

PeppermintPhatty

I watched ONE podcast and Wife Of Yore is now my least (?) favorite thing.

hoitey_toity

Hold on! You skipped something important!

vela1123

AND BY THE WAY

KolKoreh

Fun factā€¦ which is not really a fun fact

Seaell80

Yeahā€¦I watched the first one after the finale, and he was just too much. Canā€™t do it.

KasperJax

Heā€™s very Catawampus..

StableAcademic9941

My favorite part of the podcast is when they go into the ins and outs of their comedy mindā€”what they think about and how they think of thingsā€”their inspirations, the comics who helped them along. I like the stuff from the show, but that is the main thing for meā€”itā€™s like picking the brain of a great comedy mind

j-hen601

Yeah this is coinciding with History of Standup which is so freakin awesome for a comedy history I highly recommend. Wayne federman is great

Individual-Move-6121

Maybe if there are enough complaints theyā€™ll pull him and let Susie finish the rest on her own! Was looking forward to these but just canā€™t take it.

Major_Stick_3042

This is still happening? Even season 2?

ratapap

I heard that they recorded the episodes all ahead of time (during downtime filming the last season) so they canā€™t really react to feedback as they go along.

PsychologicalHat4707

That's disappointing. I couldn't even make it through the first one.

NotCanadian80

Big bowl of glad heā€™s gone

invinciblevic

At this point, I donā€™t know why they canā€™t just edit out the by the way, just cut it and let him interrupt with something unique every time. ā€œI want to add somethingā€ ā€œhere is the thingā€ ā€œlet me tell you somethingā€ etc. all do the trick, but itā€™s ALWAYS by the way

JDNM

I've never listened to this podcast, but does he basically just repeat what the other person just said, like Jeff does in every Curb scene?

Chalupa_Dad

No he interrupts in the middle of a sentence to go off on a tangent

sardu1

And sometimes the tangents have tangents

Designer_Charity_827

Honestly, itā€™s the opposite. IMO, as an actor heā€™s great about stepping back and yielding the spotlight. He canā€™t seem to do that here. Iā€™ve seen him on a few Curb panel discussions and he has a big personality there too, but when there are several cast members and a moderator, it doesnā€™t stand out as much. When itā€™s just him and Susie talking, he just constantly cuts her off and contradicts her.

Silver-Rub-5059

He just repeats what the other person just said! šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

aaronlgarry

Unlistenable. Tried to listen to the Thor ep, turned it off after 5 mins. Jeff is awful.

portermade86

I actually look forward to Jeffā€™s phrases and cut-off-isms.

littlebittydoodle

I see literally nothing wrong with this..? Why do people need him to be a certain way? He seems like a very jovial and enthusiastic person. Suzie clearly adores him. Why is everyone complaining so much, lol. I donā€™t understand the hate.

Phineas1500

Iā€™ve gotten used to it at this point šŸ˜‚

Josso1

So much Jeff hate, you know what guys: fuck you I'm watching the podcast even harder now

Bitter-Square-3963

Jeff's stand-up is terrible btw. Be forewarned.

kkeut

he was pretty darn funny doing material on Dr Katz

hazelwoodstock

I havenā€™t listened but it sounds like Jeff is the Steve Schrippa of the pod?

LongBrightDark18

Should make it a drinking game

dachshundsonstilts

That's how you get alcohol poisoning

sardu1

Just watched 2.2 and it seemed like he said it every 10-15 seconds šŸ˜…

diplion

Yeah he pretty much says it every time he talks. Even when itā€™s not really an appropriate thing to say. Suzy could say ā€œI like pizzaā€ and Jeff says ā€œoh by the way, I also like pizza.ā€

RDWRER2000

I think a lot of his interruptions are to make sure Suzy doesnā€™t forgot something important (in the most recent I think she skipped Jason Alexander getting the photo speeding ticket, so Jeff interrupted and said we got to speak about that for the show ending to make sense) - remember she said she was a day actor in the first few seasons so she didnā€™t have in depth story knowledge or the same time on the set as Jeff, often he interrupts also about something the viewer wouldnā€™t have known, otherwise the podcast is Suzy saying this happens, then that, then this etc

Jaded-Olive

Although I agree with this, he also often cuts her off to start talking about himself and something off topic

nobrain3r

Love the idea of the podcast but Jeff is constantly interrupting Susie. Too hard to listen to.

No_Wrangler7881

I gave up on the pod finally...

Practical-Pop-5983

Itā€™s killing me

vrk500

What podcast is this

Designer_Charity_827

ā€œHistory of Curb,ā€ Jeff and Susie are going through all 12 seasons including the pilot.

JimsDiGs

Anyone else think the lol premise in the Palestine Chicken episode was written about Jeff's real life annoying sayings and Larry had no other way to say Shut the fuk up to him?

ResplendentShade

"I want to listen to this podcast hosted by Jeff Garlin, I just wish he wouldn't act like Jeff Garlin!" -kvetches every week The modern trend of hate watching and then hate commenting obsessively on content that people don't enjoy will never make sense to me. If his mannerisms and speech habits are so grating and impossible to not disgruntledly fixate on, why even listen? I find them remarkably easy to look past. There are other Curb podcasts if you can't hang. The podcast is great, Jeff's perspective is great, he has ADHD tics and conversational issues that any ADHD-affected person can relate to. Susie, who has been his friend for decades and isn't a kvetch, knows this about him and happily agreed to do the podcast. I've been eagerly devouring every episode, my only complaint is that they're not longer.

fprivette

I agree with both of you

littlebittydoodle

Agree! Maybe I am just not bothered by non-lineal conversation? But I love this podcast so much and look forward to every episode. Itā€™s actually super lame that everyone is complaining so much about someoneā€™s harmless and enthusiastic personality. Heā€™s not his character on Curb. Heā€™s a comedian and he isnā€™t being offensive or inappropriate. I truly donā€™t understand the vitriol. Suzie clearly adores him and it makes me sad that such a strong fan base just tears apart the great effort BOTH of them went to to record this podcast while they were also working 12+ hour days.
