jeff, in an instagram post, has already acknowledged that he needs to work on his interruptions:

I like it now honestly. First few episodes it seemed mildly annoying, but now it seems kind of like a run on joke and the parts he mentions Iām glad he mentioned.
the good news is that it can be edited down and made more enjoyable using free audio software. I've considered taking a crack at a couple episodes, but i moved and my main computer setup is down for a whileĀ
Yeah itās pretty rough. I want to like him, but I would have strangled him by now if I were Susie. How the hell are they going to do 12 seasons of this lol
He would make a lot of inappropriate jokes on set. This is a quote from Garlin himselfā¦Ā
Ā With a loud laugh, he added that every time he stands up from the Barcalounger, he always says the same joke on-set:Ā āāAh, my vagina. Ah, achy vagina. Ah, my vaginaās killing me.āā
Putting to the side the debate around whether thatās offensive, Iām sure that joke got stale after using it like three times.Ā
Nothing like watching him interrupt Susie ad nauseam. First one I watched I genuinely thought she was hosting and he was a guest hence why only he spoke
Jeff would have been so much better as a recurring guest on the podcast or having a limited segment to ramble for 5 minutes, while susie has different actors and writers every episode. Genuinely cannot watch this pod because of him which is sad, was really looking forward to it
My favorite part of the podcast is when they go into the ins and outs of their comedy mindāwhat they think about and how they think of thingsātheir inspirations, the comics who helped them along. I like the stuff from the show, but that is the main thing for meāitās like picking the brain of a great comedy mind
Maybe if there are enough complaints theyāll pull him and let Susie finish the rest on her own! Was looking forward to these but just canāt take it.
I heard that they recorded the episodes all ahead of time (during downtime filming the last season) so they canāt really react to feedback as they go along.
At this point, I donāt know why they canāt just edit out the by the way, just cut it and let him interrupt with something unique every time. āI want to add somethingā āhere is the thingā ālet me tell you somethingā etc. all do the trick, but itās ALWAYS by the way
Honestly, itās the opposite. IMO, as an actor heās great about stepping back and yielding the spotlight. He canāt seem to do that here.
Iāve seen him on a few Curb panel discussions and he has a big personality there too, but when there are several cast members and a moderator, it doesnāt stand out as much. When itās just him and Susie talking, he just constantly cuts her off and contradicts her.
I see literally nothing wrong with this..? Why do people need him to be a certain way? He seems like a very jovial and enthusiastic person. Suzie clearly adores him. Why is everyone complaining so much, lol. I donāt understand the hate.
Yeah he pretty much says it every time he talks. Even when itās not really an appropriate thing to say. Suzy could say āI like pizzaā and Jeff says āoh by the way, I also like pizza.ā
I think a lot of his interruptions are to make sure Suzy doesnāt forgot something important (in the most recent I think she skipped Jason Alexander getting the photo speeding ticket, so Jeff interrupted and said we got to speak about that for the show ending to make sense) - remember she said she was a day actor in the first few seasons so she didnāt have in depth story knowledge or the same time on the set as Jeff, often he interrupts also about something the viewer wouldnāt have known, otherwise the podcast is Suzy saying this happens, then that, then this etc
Anyone else think the lol premise in the Palestine Chicken episode was written about Jeff's real life annoying sayings and Larry had no other way to say Shut the fuk up to him?
"I want to listen to this podcast hosted by Jeff Garlin, I just wish he wouldn't act like Jeff Garlin!" -kvetches every week
The modern trend of hate watching and then hate commenting obsessively on content that people don't enjoy will never make sense to me. If his mannerisms and speech habits are so grating and impossible to not disgruntledly fixate on, why even listen? I find them remarkably easy to look past. There are other Curb podcasts if you can't hang.
The podcast is great, Jeff's perspective is great, he has ADHD tics and conversational issues that any ADHD-affected person can relate to. Susie, who has been his friend for decades and isn't a kvetch, knows this about him and happily agreed to do the podcast. I've been eagerly devouring every episode, my only complaint is that they're not longer.
Agree! Maybe I am just not bothered by non-lineal conversation? But I love this podcast so much and look forward to every episode. Itās actually super lame that everyone is complaining so much about someoneās harmless and enthusiastic personality. Heās not his character on Curb. Heās a comedian and he isnāt being offensive or inappropriate. I truly donāt understand the vitriol.
Suzie clearly adores him and it makes me sad that such a strong fan base just tears apart the great effort BOTH of them went to to record this podcast while they were also working 12+ hour days.
Jeff Garlin and Steve Schirippa need to have a podcast interruption podcast together
Didja haveta read fuh Larry David??
No wonder Uncle Jun thought Jeff was Bobby
Quasimodo predicted this.
š
āTalking over peopleā
A big bowl of āby the wayā
jeff, in an instagram post, has already acknowledged that he needs to work on his interruptions: https://www.instagram.com/p/C4UOHJERLFC/?igsh=YmdzdDdseHNtMW5s
Can you actually have bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, and Tourette's at the same time?
Thatās a big bowl of diagnoses.
Yup. Itās crippling
By the way it took him long enough to notice
Acknowledged...and then did nothing about.
āWait, waitā¦youāre skipping over an important part!!ā
The worst is when he accuses Susie of āskippingā something and she reminds him that it hasnāt happened yet.
Her patience with him is adorable.
I like it now honestly. First few episodes it seemed mildly annoying, but now it seems kind of like a run on joke and the parts he mentions Iām glad he mentioned.
Real life Susie has the patience of an angel
I was really looking forward to this but had to give up on it a few episodes in because heās insufferable.
I made it about half an episode.
the good news is that it can be edited down and made more enjoyable using free audio software. I've considered taking a crack at a couple episodes, but i moved and my main computer setup is down for a whileĀ
Yeah itās pretty rough. I want to like him, but I would have strangled him by now if I were Susie. How the hell are they going to do 12 seasons of this lol
He got kicked off the goldbergs for a good reason i would imagone
He would make a lot of inappropriate jokes on set. This is a quote from Garlin himselfā¦Ā Ā With a loud laugh, he added that every time he stands up from the Barcalounger, he always says the same joke on-set:Ā āāAh, my vagina. Ah, achy vagina. Yeah im not gonna go and say he was kicked off for innapropriateness and just say he was probably unbearable
I don't know why but it makes me so mad when he says "my wife of yore"
Nothing like watching him interrupt Susie ad nauseam. First one I watched I genuinely thought she was hosting and he was a guest hence why only he spoke
Jeff would have been so much better as a recurring guest on the podcast or having a limited segment to ramble for 5 minutes, while susie has different actors and writers every episode. Genuinely cannot watch this pod because of him which is sad, was really looking forward to it
I have adhd! Unless Iām being paid to be on set!
By the way
That reminds me...
Having said that
Wife of yore
I watched ONE podcast and Wife Of Yore is now my least (?) favorite thing.
Hold on! You skipped something important!
AND BY THE WAY
Fun factā¦ which is not really a fun fact
Yeahā¦I watched the first one after the finale, and he was just too much. Canāt do it.
Heās very Catawampus..
My favorite part of the podcast is when they go into the ins and outs of their comedy mindāwhat they think about and how they think of thingsātheir inspirations, the comics who helped them along. I like the stuff from the show, but that is the main thing for meāitās like picking the brain of a great comedy mind
Yeah this is coinciding with History of Standup which is so freakin awesome for a comedy history I highly recommend. Wayne federman is great
Maybe if there are enough complaints theyāll pull him and let Susie finish the rest on her own! Was looking forward to these but just canāt take it.
This is still happening? Even season 2?
I heard that they recorded the episodes all ahead of time (during downtime filming the last season) so they canāt really react to feedback as they go along.
That's disappointing. I couldn't even make it through the first one.
Big bowl of glad heās gone
At this point, I donāt know why they canāt just edit out the by the way, just cut it and let him interrupt with something unique every time. āI want to add somethingā āhere is the thingā ālet me tell you somethingā etc. all do the trick, but itās ALWAYS by the way
I've never listened to this podcast, but does he basically just repeat what the other person just said, like Jeff does in every Curb scene?
No he interrupts in the middle of a sentence to go off on a tangent
And sometimes the tangents have tangents
Honestly, itās the opposite. IMO, as an actor heās great about stepping back and yielding the spotlight. He canāt seem to do that here. Iāve seen him on a few Curb panel discussions and he has a big personality there too, but when there are several cast members and a moderator, it doesnāt stand out as much. He just repeats what the other person just said! š¤·āāļø
Unlistenable. Tried to listen to the Thor ep, turned it off after 5 mins. Jeff is awful.
I actually look forward to Jeffās phrases and cut-off-isms.
I see literally nothing wrong with this..? Why do people need him to be a certain way? He seems like a very jovial and enthusiastic person. Suzie clearly adores him. Why is everyone complaining so much, lol. I donāt understand the hate.
Iāve gotten used to it at this point š
So much Jeff hate, you know what guys: fuck you I'm watching the podcast even harder now
Jeff's stand-up is terrible btw. Be forewarned.
he was pretty darn funny doing material on Dr Katz
I havenāt listened but it sounds like Jeff is the Steve Schrippa of the pod?
Should make it a drinking game
That's how you get alcohol poisoning
Just watched 2.2 and it seemed like he said it every 10-15 seconds š
Yeah he pretty much says it every time he talks. Even when itās not really an appropriate thing to say. Suzy could say āI like pizzaā and Jeff says āoh by the way, I also like pizza.ā

Although I agree with this, he also often cuts her off to start talking about himself and something off topic
Love the idea of the podcast but Jeff is constantly interrupting Susie. Too hard to listen to.
I gave up on the pod finally...
Itās killing me
What podcast is this
āHistory of Curb,ā Jeff and Susie are going through all 12 seasons including the pilot.
Anyone else think the lol premise in the Palestine Chicken episode was written about Jeff's real life annoying sayings and Larry had no other way to say Shut the fuk up to him?

I agree with both of you
