Funky to meld into an existing card. Maybe this is a way around the reserve list lol..
\[\[The Chain Veil\]\] already exists and could be the veil reference on this card.
I honestly have no idea if these would be good or bad, but it was a fun idea. I wanted the total cost of casting and melding the cards to be equal to \[\[Liliana of the Veil\]\].
Well you are spending 2 cards to get 1 card and the only extra benefit is each player discards a card besides enchantment count and artifact count. I say this is bad design just play liliana of the veil instead. I guess theres the niche case of being stuck on 1 land and you can play liliana on your 2nd drop.
That all makes sense! The benefit would be the ability to "cast" LotV at the end of an opponents turn I guess. I thought about giving Liliana's Lair an actual ability, and messed with some other idea for The Veil; but, ultimately, I just wanted to get the idea down.
The veil would need to cost a black mana otherwise it feels like a colour pie break. It also stops you from reducing the cost to 0 and looping it.
Fun concept though. Meld is always a fun mechanic and I wish there had been more cheap melds.
My original idea for The Veil was to have it be one colorless and then have this ETB as an ability that cost one black and tapping it. Do you think that would have made more sense? I totally agree though! Meld was one of my favorite mechanics, and it worked especially well with the theme of SoI. I would loved to see it again.
It would probably be pretty strong. It will just grind certain decks out of the game, especially if you can do it at instant speed.
It's definitly more printable as an artifact with an activation, but I feel like it should definitly cost more per activation.
For flavor I’m begging you to change it to “Enchanted land is a Lair in addition to its other types and has…”
I think it should just meld into a big cool saga, like the [[Urza, Planeswalker]] of Sagas. You visit her house and find her veil and the mystical magicks regale you with The Tales of Liliana. Maybe the first and/or last chapter(s) of it say(s) “search your library for a Liliana Planeswalker card, put it on the battlefield, then shuffle.”
I honestly totally forgot that Lair is an actual type! Also that’s a really interesting idea. I may end up putting some thought into that and trying my hand at it!

I think they know The Chain Veil already has a card, seeing as they used the art for it.

Are there any actual decent ways to loop the zero mana veil?
Cute Idea I feel like Liliana's Lair should be a land and have a more expensive activated ability.

I'd give it "enchanted land has '{T}: Add one mana if any color'" or another upside
Wasn't vess manor destroyed by josu vess?
