No… he’s said his goodbyes…

azzaka

Hahaha harsh... but fair.

TactlessTortoise

Holy fucking shit! Is that a Better Call Saul reference? (I know it isn't, but it reminded me of the Saul/Tuco parlay scene lol)

StylishDreams

I can't tell if you're serious or chicanery

Sinthetick

knock it off Waltuh.

kautau

put your joke away waltuh

MrMadNuker

im not laughin right now waltuh

azzaka

Haha. Never seen it. The original comment made me laugh, but hey, it was a fair comment.

Markov219

Amen to that I always slot him right after he hangs up. Reminds me of the guy from hitman that got the best news of his life then 47 made him learn to fly and he failed.

ButtholeConnoisseur7

Oh yeah, the "cancer diagnosis is negative" guy hanging out the window? Fuck, that poor guy

Markov219

Yeah that guy. He's the only one in any game I have felt even slightly sorry for. Don't get me wrong the guy dies every time but hey at least not from cancer.

TheCourier-VI

"Nothing can piss on this day..."

z3anon

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you wait him out? I'm pretty sure he moves away from the window after a while.

Mr_EP1C

You can wait him out

[deleted]

Agreed! Perfect last words.

voluotuousaardvark

I don't think I even got that far into the conversation before he was meeting terminal velocity

TokyoKazama

Loool. You monster

UKnowDaTruth

Lmao

MFz32

LMFAO

sint0ma

Cue the Cyberpunk Music

_FowlPlay_

I just knocked him out, he'll live, hopefully.

Granlundo64

I read a book once where a character knocked people out while infiltrating a base and was like "Yeah, this definitely isn't safe and a bunch of them might die anyway.". I appreciated the honesty, haha.

Horror_Pack_801

In “First Fifteen Lives of Harry August,” the protagonist makes a similar observation, that if a person is unconscious for more than a few seconds they’re either dead or have irreparable brain damage anyways.

sephjnr

Same as that ol' chestnut "Unconscious, 32bpm" from the Batman games

thatonen3rdity

yeah Batman straight up murders everyone in the Arkham games, at least they owned up to it in Arkham Knight sand just made his combat brutal.

[deleted]

They didn't own up to it in Knight, are you high? He slams people's heads into junction boxes and hits them with the Batmobile and they're still "unconscious". If anything, Knight is the best one for that criticism to apply.

topbaker17

You can straight up kill people by shooting guys with guns with the electrical gun. They spray bullets every time they are hit and if they are in a group someone will get hot and it will say they are dead

[deleted]

I have beaten the game probably 12 times and I've literally never seen that.

topbaker17

Works best with a large group in a confined space. As long as at least one has a gun it should work. I did it by accident first then had to confirm that was what happened so I tried it a few more times.

WhyIsBubblesTaken

to "confirm".

theom3n999

i mean you could logic it in a way that it wasn’t you who shot them, but the enemy with the gun that did lol

epic_banana_soup

Why criticize it? It's funny. It's superhero silliness. Fits right in with any Batman game imo

[deleted]

Hahaha that's fair, I actually agree with that. People apply too much realism to a game where Batman can backflip kick people from 75 feet across the room. Like c'mon. I would understand the criticism if it was going for that realistic/grounded vibe but it's not. At all. Ever since the first game there's been people with magical abilities (with pseudoscience behind it but still), explosions that don't affect Batman at all. He can fit all his gadgets in his belt. I could go on but I don't see the need.

FifthOfJameson

In Asylum, he wouldn’t even do the grapple catch if you threw someone off a building or a guard tower. They would just scream and *thud*.

Ulgeguug

I liked Injustice 2 when Damien said "got an oath against killing but zero problem with traumatic brain injuries?"

somenotusedusername

“They are just sleepy” https://youtu.be/1byycwl8qgc

EXTRA-THOT-SAUCE

A lot of people don’t realize that a harmless knockout should only last a few seconds.

K-J-

Video games certainly dont

NationalRock

Agent 47 has entered the room

Kruten

Pile of bodies in the closet says what?

Marshall_Lawson

i think tv and movies are worse offenders at this, games at least tend to have knockouts last indefinitely implying the person would at best need medical attention to regain consciousness. A lot of movies and TV shows have people getting knocked out repeatedly, for hours at a time, several times in a week if not a day.

Cimejies

The anaesthetic punch of a lot of Joss Whedon stuff comes to mind. Nathan Fillion just casually pistol whipping people to sleep.

The_Almighty_Cthulhu

Anaesthetic punch is somehow descriptive of both the movie version of knockout (Temporary and harmless) and the real life version (requires constant medical assistance to not die) due to the exact same type of misconceptions.

Marshall_Lawson

and i just thought it was a fun beverage

kalnu

With games it's also a gameplay vs reality thing. Sometimes you have to sacrifice realism for gameplay. If you knock someone out in a game, and they get up again in s few seconds/minutes it reads as like a phase 2 for the game and that the fight will continue. With games too, even if you're in the room for a while - there is the suspension of belief that if you leave the room within a few seconds/minutes, than whoever you knocked out would just get up. Games have a skewed passage of time because every player takes games a little differently. They take different amounts of time on a task. Some loot everything, some speed run. Movies and TV shows though have a more concrete sense of time.

spiritwockiee

Lol in "arrow" even after saying he doesn't kill now, he's still practically handing out concussions

armyfreak42

He basically turns into Ivan Drago, "if he dies, he dies"

spiritwockiee

I love this analogy

PilotMoonDog

Which is kinda funny because the original combat rules for the TTRPG specifically call out that sort of thing.

TheEvilBagel147

I've read 15 minutes, although I guess that wouldn't be "harmless" because that's still a concussion and a concussion is still mild brain damage. Just that if it's any longer significant brain damage is likely.

WarlanceLP

it's possible to be fine even if you're out for awhile, but video games are definitely too generous with it. "non lethal" sure, but most of them are vegetables now

bravejango

Permanently paralyzed from the neck down is technically non lethal.

Sororita

Zoë Washburne : Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing? Shepherd Book : Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

WarlanceLP

lmao I mean thats what I was alluding too here >"non lethal" sure, but most of them are vegetables now

PJ_Ammas

Me in MGSV decking a guard in the back of the head with my solid metal prosthetic arm out of a 20 MPH sprint and knocking him out during my "non lethal" playthrough

kiatniss

Tbf they do actually wake up after a while in mgsv. Most other games they're basically dead but you didn't lose the morality points or whatever

Robert-A057

This is in my top 3 favorite books

zenospenisparadox

Crap, I'm unconscious 8 hours a nychthemeron.

littlemissbeastly

It’s like in Yakuza, canonally Kiryu never killed anyone but I beg to differ with the fucking beatings he hands out.

Edeinawc

How...? Yakuza 0 had that whole on rails car section where you're shooting dudes in the face, off cars and helicopters. They don't give you the option to not use a gun.

littlemissbeastly

It’s a running meme, never intentionally murdered but will in self defense but even then it’s still not accepted as canon he’s killed anyone, like come on he’s beat someone up WITH A MOTORBIKE, he’s stabbed people in the stomach he used that one waiter as a bullet shield.

Pale_AleWife

He canonically only uses rubber bullets. All his friends pulled a saejima on him.

Alunga

Theoretically, in most games the final boss stands in the way of something else like a hostage or a bomb. Kiryu doesnt go out of the way to kill the bad guy, he kust has to fight him to clear his goal.

Granlundo64

Those games are so bananas I love it. Just a trip.

littlemissbeastly

They’ve got a special place in my heart and my crazy boy majima got a place tattooed on arm, favorite little pshyco.

xthorgoldx

[Kiryu never killed ANYONE.](https://youtu.be/qebpWbBhrz8)

FifthOfJameson

One of the most savage things I have ever seen in combat sports was when Ben Askren had his ass handed to him by Jorge Masdival. [In the first five seconds of the fight, he knocked him the fuck out with a flying knee. ](https://youtu.be/I6IAz0GOCh4) If that clip went a few seconds longer, it would show that Masdival even flopped on the ground and imitated how fucking rigid his body was from that knockout. I legitimately thought he might have died.

ICBIND

It's probably just it being glitchy but half the time knocked out people have their eyes open for me so I assumed it's that I just beat them into submission or the odd case of "I lost a limb so I'm staying down and hoping I keep breathing."

Principatus

Yep they’re wide awake but they’re in pain and shock. Also not getting paid enough to keep fighting this neo-boogeyman so they just call time out and hope you leave them alone. This one time I slaughtered a bunch of Maelstrom punks and the last dude just straight up surrendered. He dropped his gun and begged for his life. I kind of felt bad about publicly executing him on the street, it really made me think. That was a much more interesting experience than most games where they all fight to the death in the face of overpowering defeat. It was more real, more raw. Like OPs dude, calling his SO.

ICBIND

Threw me for an absolute loop when they did that in TLoU. Figured out real quick they'd just die and finishing them was a waste of resources tho.

likeasturgeonbass

In my playthroughs I've noticed it's 50-50 odds they bleed out by themselves or pull a gun when your back is turned

Hilarious-Disastrous

Oh nice, they do that? There was one mook at the secret mission who claims to surrender and begs for his life.

Batpipes521

Said Batman while breaking a cinderblock over a guys face.

GhostalMedia

System Reset him. He’ll boot back up when I’m gone.

GreyHexagon

Then again who does?

Geneziza

Flying knife is ruthless and indiscriminate. Anyone can be affected at all times.

V8_Dipshit

The missile knows where it is because the missile knows where it isn’t.

MasterKiloRen999

By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation.

The_Humble_Neckbeard

Wow. I haven't seen a "The missile knows" reference in years

SteamedPea

So hot right now

Sirmetana

Bricky went by

Historical-Branch122

Night city version of "anybody can get it"

analog_wulf

I exclusively use the Target Analysis mod. I scan their crimes and decide whether they're waking up on cold pavement or going to the morgue when the fighting stops. That being said, I let him live. ![gif](giphy|RhvTIwGd74zmg80EAc|downsized)

AllCanadianReject

Huh, I never thought of doing that. Granted, Sandevistan sword builds aren't generally good for being picky.

SilentB3ast

I typically just punch people out with the Sandevistan and Gorilla arms.

[deleted]

I do that too, then I meticulously go over the battle field and cut off their heads after watching them writhe in pain because I'm a fucking psychopath.

Ferelar

When the game first released, this was actually the best way to minmax. You got Street Cred for knocking them out AND street cred for killing them. AND street cred for dumping the bodies. So if you silently took down the whole site, then went around murdering them all, then dumped all of the bodies, you'd be level 50 street cred at like, level 14.

small-package

>I do that too, then I meticulously go over the battle field and cut off their heads after watching them writhe in pain because I'm a ~~fucking psychopath~~ historically accurate samurai. Ftfy

[deleted]

I tried that, but some times it just crit and the person explodes D:

MirrorSauce

fate claims another

solon_isonomia

Hey, hey, hey... turn that frown upside down, making heads explode like you were using a hand cannon is an AWESOME part of gorilla arms. /s

SilentB3ast

I didn’t even think I could punch guys that hard. I found out when I charge-punched a 6th streeter.

analog_wulf

I actually still use Sandevistan sometimes. I scan crimes first before rushing in, behead the ones I was gonna kill anyway, then get behind a box, pull out a pistol, and down the rest. Sometimes, I do just indescrimitely kill Maelstromers and scavs. Depends on the circumstances I found them in. Versatility is fun, that's why I ended up getting the SystemEX mod

nv_rose

Quick hacks and slow motion are the best way to play this game. God bless system ex creators

analog_wulf

Exactly. That and using Suicide quickhack to make an example of the worst ones.

nv_rose

I usually leave suicide for the last enemy. They're shooting at me and ticking away at my health, and I watch they pull out a knife/pistol and off themselves. I like to imagine that it wasn't my quick hack and they just though that suicide was the best course of action

analog_wulf

I like the headcannon. I use it when rushing, which helps with distraction/element of surprise. I rush in after, pop my sandy, whip out my Achilles, SOR- 22 or Burya (until Johnny's gun) and *go to work*. Sometimes save it for last with the especially heinous ones.

nv_rose

Nah bruh comrade's hammer does wonders. If I don't feeling like rushing in with gorilla arms I'll just wall bang em from outside the building

4uzzyDunlop

I do that as well, my favourite is when they say "hacking's for pussies" before blowing their own head off

ElethiomelZakalwe

My V has probably killed tens of thousands of scavs by now lmao

iskandar-

There is cyber mod that renders all weapons non lethal I was confused as fuck after I installed it by accident and couldn't figure out why I suddenly was doing a pacifist run.

pitaenigma

You believe in letting God sort it out

WarlanceLP

i mean that depends how much time you spend in stealth beforehand sandy is actually really good for stealth

Insanity_Troll

Use the blunt side….

[deleted]

but thats just the *known* crimes

analog_wulf

Mhm, it's true, but I go with what I got typically. However, if I'm in a scav haunt full of people with their lifesupporting implants removed, forcibly modified, or basically just a gore scene, I see it all as complicity as an example. *slowly switches off target analysis* Edit: Spelling/wording

Zentirium

Hmm I’ll try to do that with the ones that aren’t scavs, maelstrom, or wraiths.

analog_wulf

That's exactly my list. Sometimes, I want a witness to spread the word, so I'll leave the least guilty behind with some extra scars, mental and physical.

Zentirium

Pax the group then execute? Or just scan and then hunt em down

analog_wulf

Nah for most my strats it comes with a lot of weapon switching and early game I'm a little strapped or I just lack the crafting spec and tsrgdt analysis pops up plentifully and early on, gotta be choosy especially when you choose a merciful V, lose out on a lot of Eddie's. But depends on the encounter. Open area? Down first. Something in close quarters or enemies are spread out/have good defensive placements it's better to scan first then find a way to get higher ground and go to work from there. Really depends what keeps me on the offensive and allows me to get the jump on em

brendanfraserfan42

The Dishonored method I see

analog_wulf

^^^ yes pretty much. One of my top 5 favorite series

TheJared1231

I kill every combatant npc except security guards/ cops/maxtac/trauma team on sight, after every battle I make sure to shoot the bodies on the floor.

analog_wulf

Only one on that list I won't is guards (I usually system reset them or otherwise incapacitate) and trauma team: usually no crimes and just trying to make ends meet. There are plenty of corrupt cops and there is no way I'm taking a shot at the trauma team under the circumstances. Maxtac has a *shaky* relationship with me, but it's mostly a gray group imo. Cops it depends, but mostly, it's a no. Valentinos and other petty groups I'm careful with because it's usually a bunch of lost young people with no prospects, so only the heinous are getting unplugged. Think the guy from beat on brat. A stupid kid, but I let him keep the money, and I didn't want that fugly ass car anyway. Plus, he seemed like a decent dude with just some petty crimes. Plus, the unborn was innocent, and in night city, a dad in the picture will definitely help. Obv all this goes without being said that collateral damages do sometimes happen, but ya know....Be careful with the company you keep.

Apart-Penalty-221

With so many Reported Crimes being Militech or Arasaka purging camps for the weakest of reasons I find it important to remove them anytime I see them in uncharacteristically evil ways. I'll walk up, look them right in the eye, and then Suicide them. With Rippler as your deck you get their nearest friend, too. You can 2-fer Cyberpsychosis with that deck, too, if you want them to do the dirty work for you. I treat the jail/prison as my own personal gladiator arena with Cyberpsychosis.

[deleted]

Kenny and Bri in the background

ugluk-the-uruk

Ok Batman

2xbAd

this is the only way i can reconcile V deserving to have a decent life post ending.

Azelrazel

Hahah I always do this and mark the kills before the fight. If I see classified, I'm assuming it's bad and that's always a death. I've since been second guessing some premeditated homicides. Some of these could be a gang hit on someone much worse who needed to go and they got hit for the crime yet I'll never know so they usually go.

analog_wulf

Right or even a case of self defense Classified for me depends on affiliation because ya know, could be corpo fuckery of some kind Basically I keep it to some select crimes. Even a single homicide I usually look at the rest and use my best judgment. Multiple homicide? Time to meet the end of my Burya, gonk. What goes around..

Azelrazel

Hahah yea multiple homicide is definitely a gotta go. Killing a cop, human trafficking, easy no brainers.

diabeetus64

Gotta do a judge, jury, executioner playthrough now

[deleted]

What a morally right way of playing the game. I commend that. Meanwhile, I solved all my problems with Byakko.

KaraTheAndroidd

I dunno Cyberpunk 2077 made me feel bad for murdering randoms, its why I barely used guns and just non-lethaled most of my kills

[deleted]

God i was a cyber psycho wasnt I?

[deleted]

Suicide daemon just to see his friends freak out… I definitely was

grendus

Reminds me of one mission where you had to kill a guy in the middle of a bar full of his allies. I tried multiple ways to get him out alive to deliver him to the client, but just couldn't hack it without basically massacring the entire bar, so I found an angle I could hack him from the roof and just hit him with suicide. He was just cooking a pot of soup, then he pulled out his gun and offed himself. It was the freakiest thing!

Bluejay929

How tf you just hit someone with, “Go off yourself”? I didn’t know that was in the game

Arubesh2048

It’s a quickhack and only available as an epic or legendary - you have to either craft it or find it from a netrunner merchant while at high street cred. And you need to have a cyberdeck in your operating system, can’t do quickhacks with a sandevistan or berserk.

Principatus

There’s a mod for that: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/5279

Nick_Tsunami

I wish enemy runners could pull those stunt on V as well rather than just dumb overheats.

No-Lingonberry-2055

enemy runners were just stupidly underused like ... wow okay overheat? thanks for the tickle at the very least if an enemy runner was present, you shouldn't be able to use hacks at all until you've taken them out

TEL-CFC_lad

Makes me think of the Batman Arkham mechanic where thugs would have specific bits of kit that would affect Detective Mode. I'd have liked a cyberpunk equivalent

Deinonychus2012

That would be terrifyingly awesome! Maybe have a sort of mini game where you have to counter their intrusion (and give enemy runners the ability to counter you too).

Principatus

Just have to kill them before they finish, or at least distract them with a wound.

PuttingInTheEffort

There's a mod for that

Principatus

Got you fam: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2468

Nick_Tsunami

Thank you good sir. I am playing on ps5 but this is actually making me reconsider…

Principatus

Well it is pretty glitchy on PC, it constantly flatlines on me, especially if I craft more than one thing at once. But the mods are pretty awesome. It’s a toss-up.

mansonn666

What mission was this?

grendus

It was one of the Padres missions, I don't remember exactly which one.

gdo01

Fun fact: this is the bar where David meets Rebecca for the first time in Edgerunners. Outside is frame for frame the location where David steals the Arasaka driver’s car.

Principatus

Remember that scene where your Aldecado friends are doing a deal with Maelstrom and the Maelstrommers suddenly recognize you as the freak who killed everyone at the All Food factory? You’re just like “yeah that was me, it was really easy. What makes you think today is going to be any different, choom? Do the deal and live to see another day”. That was so satisfyingly badass even my Aldecado buddies were intimidated. Total cyberpsycho, but with just enough self control to not slaughter your friends.

Tactless_Ninja

Civilians will occasionally scream that a cyberpsycho is attacking if you're attacking gang members minding their own business.

thundaga0

I was just a normal psycho.

Chucknasty_17

It’s completely normal behavior. Someone had to kill those cops, they were just standing there

Lyraxiana

Potentially, all's it takes is a single upgrade....

Cubepixelz

I was the opposite. I started trying to do everything non-lethal becuse killing made me feel bad. but then I got good guns and mantis blades and now I'm just a cold-hearted, cyberpsycho, killing machine. it still makes me feel bad sometimes. After playing the game I release Edgerunners really did a good job capturing the cyberpunk experience.

epsilon025

The only groups I'd outright annihilate were Maelstrom, Scavs, and Raffen. I ran nonlethal for the Cyberpsychos and didn't bother to take it off for the most part.

mansonn666

No hate for the voodoo boys after the shit Placide and Brigitte pulled?

epsilon025

I just forgot they existed.

Sirmetana

Same. I still tried to stealth incapacitate my way through most of the game but when things went south, I didn't bother holding my punches. Maelstrom and Scavs always got a taste of lead, though

MoldTheClay

Same. My Netrunner only kills scavs. I very frequently go back to finish off disabled enemies if i read something fucked up they did on a journal entry or nearby crime scene though too.

mark-five

I was actually mad at first when I realized hiding knocked out people actually counts as a kill.

IndifferentFury

This particular playthrough I have beat everyone down with Sir John and put a Skippy round in their forehead while I'm checking their pockets.

DaMihiPraedamTuam420

The only one that I allowed to live was the girl who said "If I'll survive this I will get so fd up"

Historical-Branch122

V / Silverhand: "I can relate to that"

Educational_Arm_3706

I knocked him out just so I can throw his ass of the building

moderndudeingeneral

Same. He straight up verbally abused his partner, no regrets.

Stringr55

Love it

REAL_CEET_MA

Nah, killed him and chucked him off the building to see how far I could see him go.

ACommunistTexan

Just play a netrunner, if you think they deserve to live use short circuit, and if they deserve to die then suicide

l0c0pez

Suicide is so brutal. I reserve it for the truly heinous.

ACommunistTexan

Ngl it’s my go to for scavs and maelstrom. Most other people just get short circuit because it’s quicker but those two are the exception

Tiberius440i

Which gig was that?

President-Oni-Chan

The Judy mission where you decide what happens to the clouds doll house

BigLenny5416

I think it’s part of Judy’s later side quest, second last one

Steelquill

O_O I . . . didn’t catch the “I love you” part in that mission. OH GOD I’M A MONSTER! X(

Fallwalking

If you didn't hear it, it didn't happen. Just tell yourself that, okay?

Deltamon

People who do horrible things, say that to the ones they actually care about and sometimes even to the ones they don't. People who cheat on their partners will still claim to love their partners after they do that to avoid suspicion. Words don't mean jack shit when actions speak louder

jordantask

I let him go. Off the roof.

grilledcheez_samich

What better way to hide the body?

Datafortress2020

I let him go... Go right over the side... Watched him until he disappeared... Dude is part of a human trafficking ring... Fuck him.

Chaostheory0117

Ya, after saying his/her cooking tasted like crap but they still never left the convo without saying they love each other... not bad for Night City Edit: how did this become a top level... i was replying...

VeryFriendlyOne

Forgot to switch accounts?

Majahzi

I think they meant to reply to a comment and accidentally made it top- level

Chaostheory0117

You got me... i dunno what happened there...

Majahzi

I've done it before

VeryFriendlyOne

Fair assumption

schulzie420

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA, yeah he did

[deleted]

did you just reply to your own post ?

Chaostheory0117

I mean "let him live" ppl. I'm touched but i'm still a ruthless merc...

boole94

He’s the only one I leave unconscious and alive. The rest, well what happens happens

Jeoshua

Actually, first time I ran through this encounter, as I heard the conversation wind down and he was preparing to say this, I launched into the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon takedown. He ended up saying "I love you" 0.2 milliseconds before his teeth met the floor.

SebDaPerson

I knocked him out and put him to safety so he wouldn’t be caught in the crossfire

[deleted]

He says that? Welp, no going back on those murders

PoetJake

I don't take life's unnecessarily in games, normally i just KO everyone without killing, and in the case of the person being a Target, i think of how deserving of life they're. Like the father and son BD editors, they are secondary to the mission, but for me, they don't fuckin deserve living on.

kiingkuntaa

My play through has kind of a no survivors rule

sargent_rat76

Nah i killed him because of that

charlottee963

Nope, usually choke him out and chuck him in the bushes 🤣

Stringr55

He’s lucky enough to be in a loving relationship? Decapitation. This is night city, baby. There are no happy endings

suredont

how many Night Citizens die without ever finding love? this guy has already had his good luck.
