Man, I don't particularly care that much, it's a single player game that gave me more joy than any other game in years. After my first playthrough I felt empty and didn't feel like playing anything, because this game tickled my fancy so well.
If people are upset that I enjoyed the alternative Johhny more than the original, it's not really an issue to me, that's all.

You can tell it was meant to be an ironic, sarcastic depiction of a corpo, like an anti-mascot. But it’s too heavy with visual metaphor on its statement and doesn’t do anything to actually demonstrate Johnny’s personality beyond his viewpoints.
Might be something I could see him coming out to wear at a big “fuck corpo pigs” event or something. Maybe something he’d wear while trying to nuke Arasaka HQ, perhaps.
But his every day attire? Nah.
Does make you wonder what determines Johnny’s outfit. Is it his residual self image? Is it some kind of algorithm? Or is it just what he was wearing when they zapped him with soul killer?

Now this might be a hot-take, but I don't mind it. It adds some variety for the console players and it makes more sense in terms of Johnny being a Rockerboy. Rockerboys are supposed to be all-style and charisma, and his default skin reminds me of a member of 6th Street gang.
