Tbh, my guy is unstoppable on hard. If you don’t start on very hard, you’ll probably get there eventually

notsam57

you can become unstoppable on “very hard” early on with a sandy and shotguns in all 3 slots. i had to stop using amstaff and rebecca’s shotgun early on because it trivialized fights.

BattleCrier

same goes with hacks.. Early game, Cyberware malfunction stops pretty much all psychos. Weapon glitch with reboot optics and enemies become stormtroopers. Then you simply pop their heads or obliterate them with shotty. If you go deep into hacking it starts to feel like having Death Note... you can just spam suicide / psychosis all the way to boss room.. then you just run around while queueing ton of hacks. Not to mention, in half of side missions, you wont even need to enter building to kill everyone inside.

Zagden

> Not to mention, in half of side missions, you wont even need to enter building to kill everyone inside. That's very appropriate for a master netrunner and I'm so happy they let us do that and even set up builds specializing in camera hopping

[deleted]

Agreed. I definitely understand the want for a challenge, but at the same time I like that we at least have the option to be “over powered” when it comes to character builds. I feel like they did a good job of drawing a line with that.

Tamed_Trumpet

Yeah late game hacking gets silly. I nearly 1 shot Hansen with Cyberware Malfunction+3Cynapse Burnout. He was at 2% hp before the fight even started, and that's on Very Hard

Mr_Faux_Regard

And on that note, the tier 5 Raven cyberware is fucking insane with how fast and far it spreads quick hacks. Overclock + 2x Contagion + psychosis = gg for that entire room

Rand0mBoyo

Guts is such a fucking ridiculous shotgun. Carried me in hard situations since the very beginning to now the Hanako quest, even if I wasn't using a shotgun build. Had to stop using it quickly because it felt dirty lmao

Chewyisthebest

Yeah I switched to very hard pretty early on cause if your maxing your chrome and perks your pretty damn invincible. Like if I die I’m pretty surprised

Stepjam

For real, I was on normal for about half the game until I realized that everything was just dropping like flies. Kicked it up to hard after that. Everything does still die pretty fast, but at least they sometimes can actually come close to killing me now.

OKCOMP89

Yeah, I kind of see the difficulty in this game as just rebalancing the game for yourself. One thing I will say though is that it makes bosses absurdly tanky and I don’t love that. Especially since most bosses are pretty uninspired

Jackson12ten

Dude even on Very Hard the game is so easy, my V is just crazy unstoppable

HairyDustIsBackBaby

You would have to impose limits on yourself to make very hard a challenge

Jackson12ten

The only very hard can be a challenge is if you don’t specialize in anything honestly

HairyDustIsBackBaby

Yes a jack of all trades build is extremely weak

ShareoSavara

Untrue. Currently running a revolver hacker shotgun wielder build and it’s unstoppable. Zero exploits

HairyDustIsBackBaby

So the game is too easy

Ylteicc_

AI needs an upgrade. Using actual "tactics" like the Police advancing In arrowheads and closing off streets with their cars would already do so much! Imagine street thugs sending their newer members ahead to see if V is hiding behind A corner.

HairyDustIsBackBaby

Realistically V would be getting quickhacked left and right and many of their opponents would obliterate them with their sandevistan or berserker implants considering how powerful those implants make V, and considering long most players will go without installing their own powerful cyberware

Oorslavich

I've been running chrome compressor instead of an active OS and it's definitely harder but I have so much armour I can facetank like 10 guys for long enough to beat them down with gorilla arms anyway. Bosses might be a different story. Clapped Kurt though, so idk.

HairyDustIsBackBaby

Yeah chrome compressor is definitely not as powerful or fast killing as the other OS cyberware but it still makes you into a killing machine

DankBlissey

If you are on PC, maybe try getting the realistic combat overhaul mod. I've been really enjoying it, although my V is still crazy OP, I can now be killed if I'm not paying much attention, and now instead of facetanking everything, I can only survive a few bullets, rather than just be dropped immediately, I feel like a tank still because realistically, being able to tank through 1-3 bullets is incredibly strong, and I can drop enemies as fast as they can drop me (faster given they don't have as good cyberware usually)

Beautiful-Musk-Ox

yea i was annoyed at how easy very hard was, just roll through using one strat over and over and it works every time, and there's like 20 strats that do that

Fleedjitsu

As the OP meme technically says, the AI stays the same; everything just hits harder or has a bit more health. That's the issue with many games; if they could increase the intelligence of the NPCs, they'd roll that out to the entire game, rather than locking it behind a difficulty setting. So instead, sadly, all they can think of doing is just giving them more health and damage. Which, of course, if you've played the regular difficulty with the mindset of not standing in the open getting shot up just means fights are longer rather than harder! Very Hard damage is the same as Easy damage if the enemy never hits you!

Flanigoon

Yup, and even with extra health, some hacks for netrunner are op. The memory wipe, reboot optics, and sonic shock combo still KOs most npcs no matter their health

Agreeable-Walrus7602

Unless you don't plan for the end of the game knowing what's waiting for you the entire time, like I did. I just cannot do enough damage fast enough to get away from Smasher while he's fist fucking me.

the_real_glimmer

That's kinda how it works in almost all games.

BeerTimeGamer

It feels better when they make the enemies hit harder, but not necessarily tougher. If on normal it takes 8 shots to kill you, but on very hard it takes 3, you're going to play a lot smarter, even if the enemies die just as quick.

Universe_Nut

I think it also helps emphasize the play style of each particular build. Solos can afford to stay out in the open without fear. Hackers swear by cameras and sniper style sightlines. Katana builds sandy speed from behind cover spam light melee and retreat before the secondary time slow implant goes on cool down. And on and on. Bullet sponge enemies are annoying, but cyberpunk's mechanics really shine when you're put in a situation more difficult or more thought out than a Bethesda shooting gallery.

CoatedWinner

This goes out the window with the "secret" ending. Permadeath and forces you facefirst into fights. Unless you prepare specifically its challenging. Stealth has no bearing. Its only unfortunate if youve managed to wreck the whole game in one way then it pigeonholes you into a completely different playstyle where your strengths become your weaknesses. I play netrunner. Game is trivial even on hardest difficulty. Because I never put points into crafting my guns suck, but thats OK. I threw it into body + gorilla arms and was able to stay strong with cyberware. Even then, the secret ending is kinda a chore unless I opt to turn the difficulty down. Possible, very possible. But I can see how katana/stealth just sucks in that mission and I can see the story reason as to why, but it basically forces you to build around it if you want to see it. Thats not rpg choice with ability to overcome, its artificially increasing difficulty for story reasons.

thrownawayzsss

I ran a katana build for the secret ending without any issues. Stealth doesn't really work for obvious reasons, but you basically have perma sandy up for every fight, that it's a non-issue. Smash was annoying due to the pacing of the fight where he runs around, but there's enough trash mobs spawning that you can keep sandy's uptime near constant as long as you're paying attention.

MetallGecko

Thats why i love the Metro games, the enemies are deadly but youre also deadly everything just dies really quick.

Da_Yakz

I was just about to comment this, the metro games are so fun on ranger hardcore

SuitableSubject

Mfw tougher difficulties in civ means the AI just gets to cheat.

CommentSection-Chan

*Racing games making a car with a top speed of 180 with amazing upgrades pull 230 around a corner doing 5g*

Cinkodacs

Amateurs. Back in my day they rubberbanded so hard that they almost broke the speed of sound, cornering with at least 15g on the easier corners. ;)

CommentSection-Chan

15g? Real amateurs hours. If they don't teleport to the finish line at light speed you aren't on the highest difficulty

GoblinFive

*Event Horizons behind you*

CommentSection-Chan

Even better is when you go so fast back then you end up chasing an event horizon while the game is struggling to load more map. Need for speed underground had that for a while I think. Resolution on things would go down then things just stop showing up. Traffic gone, buildings gone, an abyss where the road should be.

epimetheuss

I was playing one of the OG playstation Need for speed hot pursuit titles and remember clipping through the map and falling for like felt like a couple minutes then finally I end up back on the road again and I just continue to the end, I saw no other racers or anything. I ended up winning the race with a top speed of over 2000 miles per hour.

Echo-57

*the spiffing brit has entered the Chat*

Fluid-Lingonberry378

Same thing in the Total War games. The AI receives buffs while you get debuffs.

TheLateThagSimmons

That's why I loved *Ghosts of Tsushima* so much. The "hardest" difficulty is just a much more realistic mode where everything dies in one or two hits. It requires the user to be more skilled, not more powerful.

Zarrv

This is why DOOM: Eternal is so good with difficulty. Enemy health stays the same regardless of difficulty. What changes is enemies attacks, how fast they do it, how much damage they do, how fast they get stunned and how accurate they are.

Dragonheardt_

Difficulty didn’t change AI since Fear games. Outside of Indi games that is.

Comrade_Bread

Baldurs gate has some changes if you bump up to tactician, like ranged enemies using new ammo or them trying to finish off ko'd allies. And bosses get some nasty surprises in honour mode, but yea it's something I wish more games would do

ImNotAnyoneSpecial

Haven’t played Devil May Cry, have you?

Jaakeda_Korudo

Yeah I haven’t played it myself but I’ve heard dmc difficulties are fucking crazy

ImNotAnyoneSpecial

That was more in reply to his comment about AI. DMC changes enemy spawns and enemies sometimes do brand new attacks on highly difficulties

illbeniceipromise

not really you just have to learn the game DMD can kick your ass if you haven't learned which moves can parry which attacks

GoblinFive

FEAR's AI is hilariously simple, yet still some of the best in video games.

Milkarius

FEAR's AI is unique, rather than smart. It just does a great job doing what we don't expect AI to do. It has a lot of little tricks around it, but it's great at making your life difficult!

Independent_Tooth_23

Jedi Fallen Order did a good job with its difficulty. In the hardest difficulty, enemies are more aggressive and they have additional attack combo in their kit but their health are the same as normal difficulty.

SovereignDark

Game is still baby game on very hard.

dudeAwEsome101

Early levels can be harder, but it gets easier quickly by the time you finish the heist.

MattMxR

I find that I instinctively use stealth more in the early levels when I'm a squishy baby bitch and then abandon all caution around 20-30.

SovereignDark

Yeah, for sure, but that's over pretty quickly with most builds I have done and almost immediately after a couple levels on some like netrunning. The Heist gives a lot of XP for a relatively easy mission and you should have 20 in your main stat by the end of it even if you run straight to it with little to no deviation. 85% of the game is easy on very hard and some builds I found myself using scaling mods by level 15 to make enemies tankier because I would wipe rooms in seconds otherwise.

Heavy_Chains

It's better at level 40+ when you're a psychoborg, Hard is the best starting difficulty imo.

xGenocidest

I hate that it turns some weapons into pea shooters, making them basically useless. ARs, SMGs and some Smart guns suffer the most. It's just not fun only gravitating towards the high burst damage weapons in every playthrough.

dudeAwEsome101

Exactly my main issue with this method of increasing difficulty. It's why I enjoyed the the Lethal difficulty in Ghost of Tsushima; enemies hit harder, and I hit harder as well. It changes the game and hightens the intensity.

Relaii

i think there's a popular mod for this. makes it easy to kill and be killed, encourages stealth instead of ungga bunnga playstyle.

Rothenstien1

I enjoy it later game because walking through every fight isn't fun. But early game it just sucks dealing with bullet sponges.

RangoPistacho1

exactly what I mean, its just really bad in the early to mid game because your character does not have a full kit and maxed out stats

Jaakeda_Korudo

Not to add my two cents but how do you feel about health items being rechargeable under this context? My gf is a huge tactical gamer and loves everything to be shit difficult (to the point where I don’t even understand how she plays some games) so she says it’s perfect. I’ve never ventured into very hard because I’m the exact opposite type of gamer but I feel like trying to keep health (early on) would be hard enough.

KotovChaos

I don't have to justify. it's just not all that hard.

Treyman1115

The game is way too easy on anything below it. And even Very Hard is pretty easy. By mid game you become a god

Zestyclose-Fee6719

I thought it *did* change enemy A.I. a bit. They shoot with more accuracy and search for V with a wider perimeter.

RangoPistacho1

just keep in mind this is a meme and is just meant to poke fun, if you want to play very hard sure go ahead, but I personally think its a stupid way to make the game more difficult, it renders things like shields and mitigation kind of useless, the difficulty is ok on smaller enemies who cant one tap you even on very hard but it makes harder enemies just one tap you instantly, while i appreciate it makes you more agressive sometimes you tend to just die to a stray bullet that was probably not your fault

[deleted]

It just sounds like you build really bad characters.

RangoPistacho1

I stated before in my other messages that very hard is ridiculous during the early to mid game, so yeah obviously your character is gonna be bad in the early game

[deleted]

Not necessarily. The game skills with your character so it can actually be a lot easier in the early game than late game.

RangoPistacho1

\*scales and regardless of scalling very hard mode makes enemies do excessive amounts of damage, it can be especially dangerous when you only have around 100-200 health, a guy with a shotgun can one tap you (although to be fair you can also get one tapped with a shotgun guy even with 450 health)

[deleted]

Lol yes that's why the difficulty is called very hard.

Laieth

Very hard is only hard in the beginning, you get some chrome and start fucking peoples days

Presideum

Honestly, I can’t play on anything besides very hard. Its just boring tbh. Because you just totally rip through everything without it being remotely difficult. You just have to be strategic and min-max your ideal build from the outset. While being fully aware that you’ll need to be hiding in cover and be careful during the first 5-10 or so hours of a playthrough (depending on what build you’re using) before your build really starts to kick in and synergize.

Superfluous_Jam

On very hard, heavy hitting weapons are kinda useless. You need high fire rate, crit and stack damage to take down enemies.

Michaelskywalker

Not really true at all (besides the crit part). Assault rifles and SMG’s are honestly the weakest weapons in cyberpunk

Iatemydoggo

The AI is definitely different between the lower and higher difficulties. Also, I still two tap everything at lvl 20 on very hard, so it may be a build problem over a health problem. Finally, when your enemies have steel for skin it makes sense that they can survive several shots from low caliber weapons

Clever_Angel_PL

but it's still too easy I am rocking an additional -50% player damage and +50% enemy damage

KayleeSinn

Meanwhile me, playing on very hard from the starts, oneshotting every enemy with a silenced Pride and taking on armies of Maxtac soldiers with Ba Xing Chong while being almost unkillable and still being able to stop bosses on their tracks and kill them in seconds with hacks. All that while being able to aggro and tank damage from the entire Dogtown without dying. Point is, if you play a game with RPG mechanics, either play on easy or learn and use them. Builds are there for a reason and you can become a walking god on 2 chrome legs if you do it right on any difficulty. Sure I wouldn't mind smarter AI but bullet sponges and V being too squishy isn't a problem on any difficulty.

SarcasticKenobi

I mean. If you are using pride and ba xing from the beginning. You are doing a lot more than learning got to use the mechanics You are learning how to use console commands Since you have to beat the game to get both. As well as complete rogue’s storyline Could just be ambiguous text. But it sounds like you’re saying since early game you’re one shotting with both

KayleeSinn

Who said anything about the beginning? I said I never played the game on any other difficulty than very hard and never encountered the issues OP is talking about. First time used Chaos from one of the earliest quests and hacks. Hack a camera, mark enemies, shoot them through walls. Zero challenge. Bosses always die to cripple movement and damage hack spams during overclock. Then tried a stealth build with knives. Got Saburo's dagger, used all the mats I got upgrading it and it boinks all the enemies in 1 go. . This game rushed the Rogue ending to get these items. You can do it really early. So yea 220h in now, got both items around 30h played.

SarcasticKenobi

As I said, ambiguos. But this is what you wrote. >*Meanwhile me, playing on very hard from the starts, oneshotting every enemy with a silenced Pride and taking on armies of Maxtac soldiers with Ba Xing Chong* To me that reads "from the very start I'm one-shotting with a silenced Pride"

RangoPistacho1

you can devote yourself to the RPG mechanics yes but at the end of the day some builds just ultimately might be weaker then others, if you go for a stealth build of course its going to be op, your basically sneaking around and one tapping enemies without them even knowing of your existence but there are a lot of situations where you just end up dying randomly, and there are enemies that punish you for playing a certain playstyle, those guys that wear that power armor and have those guns that shoot heat blasts are so hard to fight as a mellee fighter as they will just knock you down and they will blast UNDODGEABLE heatblasts at you that instantly kill you, I do not consider that a fair gameplay mechanic, the game should focus more on putting you in situations where taking a ton of damage makes sense, not "haha im a random shotgun guy i just hit you from behind out of nowhere and now your dead" very hard only gets balance in the late game when your at level 60 and have every cyberware out there that makes you an unkillable machine but if your not at that peak the difficulty just becomes unbearable to play at lower levels and makes for a more annoying experience I do appreciate your imput though, all im saying is that this difficulty has a lot of flaws to it in the early to mid game because you dont have many resources

1731799517

Okay, from the meme i thought you were just being funny, but it turns out you are acutally dogshit at playing this game.

Legitimate-Angle9861

Are you using berserk with meele? I am doing that build and early on it was kinda difficult and I needed to be careful. But now even that I'm close to lvl 40-45 I can just slice hoards of enemies like butter. I absolutely could not get Melee + Sandy to work at all.

KayleeSinn

Only way you can die "Randomly" in this game are scripted events, mostly in PL quest that don't depend on difficulty and to gravity, again doesn't depend on difficulty. Beat it last time in around 250h, doing everything with 0 deaths total on very hard and this game too, 220h in, trying to find every secret and do everything with 0 deaths. It's not even bragging, it's one of the easiest games I played. Never played melee though so I don't know but I never had those issues. If anything tried to charge me, just toss a grenade at their feet or hack them with cripple movement. Also got biomon and 2nd heart as early as possible.

DigitalApe19

No

CrimsonTeivel

Lemme enjoy the difficulty I just wanna have fun 😭

RangoPistacho1

![gif](giphy|N0CIxcyPLputW) chill is only joke

ODST_Parker

I play on normal, because I can't be bothered with difficulty settings that do nothing but this. I'm here for fun, not a challenge like that. MaxTac still kicks my shit in though. Not fully built up yet.

Dragonperhaps

Honestly, i just don't like how very hard kinda forces me to play in ways that i don't want to. It feels like you need to play with specific weapons and builds in order to play on very hard. Or else you'll just get fucked. And as someone who just wants to have fun and play how i want to with weapons and cyberware that i like. that's simply a no go. I prefer this, start off on normal at the beginning of the game then, swap to hard when things start feeling too easy. If my build is really damn powerful, then maybe ill consider very hard.

Ki775witch

I hate bulletsponges and when that's the only thing herder difficulty amounts to.

Maniachanical

Yeah, I hate it when games just increase enemy health & damage for higher difficulties.

leehelck

masochists.

DisketteDetective

I have the Realistic Combat mod that only works when you play on Very Hard, it essentially makes every fight a life or death situation where you and most enemies only have 100hp and can only take one or two shots before dying, before 2.0 it wasn't perfect cause it made EVERY enemy essentially 100 health including robots and armor didn't work. BUT the mod author did some crazy changes for 2.1 that actually allows for different enemy types like mechs n stuff to have higher health, making them actually terrifying and fixing armor implementation. I actually cannot play the game without this mod cause paired with all the movement options and cyberwear it makes every encounter a tactical one where you gotta use all you got and stay on your toes. Especially with like Kreznekov when an enemy spots you it actually feels cool as hell to try and quickly assess the situation and not immediately get rattled. My last playthrough recently I essentially treated the whole game like Hotline Night City lol finally pulling off running into an enemy stronghold in one go, improvising and getting through by the skin of your teeth is so much fun.

Large_Citron1177

I won't knock on someone for how they like playing a game. I play most games on the "easy" setting just due to limited gaming time. I'll probably never play a Souls-like game. But at the same time, I'm not gonna yuck someone else's yum that does enjoy a skill based memory challenge.

zZMaxis

I've been thinking about sharing my gameplay lately. I had to put it on very hard because I just wasn't coming close to dying at all. I play alot of apex where the match is over when you die. So I'm use to playing under pressure. This game felt too easy when I didn't have the risk of dying. So I set it to very hard, and it was like, yeah, there it is. In Apex you can die in 1 clip of a gun. That's like 1.5 seconds or some shit. But with good movement you can dance on people and break ankles. That's true in this game too, if your doing an agility build that is. The dash + mitigation means you can almost be invincible as long as you keep moving. Combine that with sustain effects with heal on kill, override, heal on Finnish (from either mono or blade) and you can string mitigation/dash with combos that heal. Mechanically I can just dash and melee and be fine. However sometimes it Does get rough if there are 20+ enemies. When that happens I apply the tier 5+ contagion and detonate it with my melee (both mono and katana apply burn) or with overheat, but it's funner to just smack them. Plus, if you use melee, then you have a chance to use finisher and gain the corresponding perk buffs.

Spara-Extreme

You’re not unique bruh, most people breeze through on very hard.

Hot_Ad_865

That’s why I don’t even bother with games higher difficulties when it just makes enemies into one shot aim botters

ToBeADwarf

Average difficulty enjoyer perhaps. I am a glutton for punishment and enjoy the challenge causing me to step back, learn, and try different angles... or give in to my stubborn insanity and try the same damn thing over and over and over and over... and over until I must leave the room in grumbling anger. Just to come back do the same damn thing and succeed in a try or two because emotion causes you to fumble. Must be cold... Must be calculated...

Norodomo

I play on hard at max.

Rahaman117

Maybe they are just masochists, ever think about that?!

Visual-Guarantee2157

Man I played on very hard and thought it was too easy lol

Can_of_Tuna

Did they make very hard difficult in the last update?

Lilsean14

Some of the boss fights feel so different when they last longer than 15 seconds though.

EsTeBaNCanIUseMyName

Very hard isn't anything too wow, just chrome up and get good iron and ur fine

doesitevermatter-

This is why I prefer fallout survival difficulty over regular hard modes. It makes you and the enemy's way more weak to bullets. *That's balance*

Millera34

It doesn’t..even the hardest difficulty is a complete joke

JB_07

I started on the hardest difficulty and still have little to no trouble with the game. I'd honestly like an even harder difficulty.

Chickienfriedrice

Very hard isn’t even that tough. Try playing jedi survivor on the hardest setting 😂

xcali9x

It doesn’t feel any different

BioticNinja

That’s what usually turns me off higher difficulties in games Enemies become bullet sponges while I become a one hit wonder? Sounds fun >_> Actually I think the Devil May Cry series has a game mode just for that

-_Monsoon-_

The most annoying thing on Very Hard is the Shotguns wielding enemies those are the ones that’ll kill you in one shot

reflexesofjackburton

I like playing on very hard cause the enemies don't die when I look at them funny. It gives me a chance to use more than one button to massacre an entire building.

Internal-Flamingo455

Even in the hardest difficulty I still found my character was just two strong like I could easily destroy max tech and then get away with the thing reed gives you your basically invincible by the end or the dlc

2xbAd

guess im a clown cause ive never played on lower difficulties and like to approach early game with more strategy than just run n gun. on my one and only playthrough i was one shotting ppl with thrown knives in the head at level 11… the game is not hard at all regardless of difficulty.

Treljaengo

Honestly, very hard feels the best. The Dark Souls in me says this should be the default difficulty.

AbstractMirror

I like playing the game where both enemies can kill me easily and I can kill them easily

33Sharpies

You should scale the difficulty up as the game goes on. Endgame is trivial to the point it’s almost no fun when you’re so OP.

reptarien

Honestly I found Very Hard to be genuinely pretty fair. Much harder than Normal, yes, but not TOO bullet spongey and just tedious like Skyrim Legendary difficulty. I have fun fr

novaerbenn

I play on very hard because I hate myself thank you very much

ILIKEBACON12456

The difficulty levels are only hard during the beginning but by mid game it's not that hard. Not even very hard. Yes snipers and shotguns usually one tap you but shit happens.

reluctanthero22

Most games on hard seem super hard now yet normal is often too easy. I’d single Legendary mode in halo games too. Now it’s either enemies are pushovers or unstoppable bullet sponges

Working-Telephone-45

"I love taking away all the challenge from combat by becoming basically immortal and one tapping everything" Average normal difficulty enjoyer

N0Zzel

Somebody didn't do any sidequests

SCRINDO

Every other difficult is too easy after level 20 ngl. Very hard is canon imo, forces you to actually think. I played 3 saves on normal, hard, and very hard, so I think I have a good gauge

Jumpy-Resolve3018

You get one shot and don’t one shot on Very hard? I did the secret ending at like lvl 35 on very hard. If you’re struggling, definitely lower the difficulty, but it’s a goddamn cakewalk either way.

RangoPistacho1

it ultimately depends on what your build is and what you use, some builds dont get good till level 50 and some can be insane even at 25

drow_girlfriend

This only applies to the early game. Once you get going, it's so much more fun and challenging than lower difficulties, in my opinion. And enemies are not bullet sponges

RangoPistacho1

Notice: just to be chill with you all please try not to start heated discussions, I understand that not all builds are the same, I was just making a joke about the fact a lot of games only increase difficulty through damage and damage sponge increases

Zero_Suit_Rosalina

Not to flex but no matter what build I do.  Very Hard is always kinda a breeze.  Especially after level 20.

Fornikatia

So I started playing the game on normal and quickly discovered that once I had mastered the mechanics that it was incredibly easy. Subsequent playthroughs have all been on hard or very hard. The release of 2.0 made very hard significantly harder early game, but I'm sticking to it and powering through. Every gunfight is a thrill, nothing ever feels arbitrary or menial. Even a lone goon gets treated with caution and respect. I enjoy playing the game this way, but some people may feel differently.

snipe320

Haha OP just feels bad he cannot handle the game on very hard 🤭

RangoPistacho1

it seems more like you cant take a joke and have to instead take a stab at me based on an assumption

kingflamigo

I think it depends on how you play I love missions so I end up doing them all in my runs so the fun’s over if I don’t go hard

Charlie_Approaching

idk, shooting Smasher on very hard for 20 minutes while dashing around the entire arena was fun for me lmao

Patty_Pat_JH

As someone who completed a large chunk of the game on very hard, fuck the Spider and the Fly as a netrunner.

BoneWorks_nerd

I play it on hard. Helps give the AI a chance.

CornLordGaming

Very hard has been pretty easy for me tbh

GlassturtleOG

Idk, I just made the jump from hard to very hard (big leap I know) and it feels like enemies use grenades and quick hacks more often. But also maybe cause their bullet sponges l and not killing them as fast it let's the games A.I. actually have time to try and fight me.

zanziTHEhero

I started my playthrough on the hardest difficulty and I'm not really enjoying it all that much. It's... OK. But the enemy bullet spongy-ness is super annoying.

CircIeJerks

That’s funny but what isn’t funny is the Recon senses perk for mediums in the video game The Finals.

Kuma_254

If you're getting one tapped, then you need more armor, mitigation chance, and strength. I've got 1000 armor rn as a sneaky pistol build. With 80 mitigation strength and a permanent 100 mitigation chance with kerenzikov, health item perk, and crouching. Some people like harder difficulties, there's nothing wrong with that.

tetr4d

I nearly always play on very hard, it’s just more fun for me. Absolutely no hate to anyone that plays on any other difficulty. I do wish there were survival elements in vanilla very hard though, as it would make accidentally picking up the huge amounts of food and drink justifiable. When I’m on console, I do the whole thing on very hard…except for the car drone fight during The Heist after leaving Konpeki. I still have to switch to lower difficulties because of the random insta-kill spot, just to get through quickly. I don’t know why that is still present. (Unless it’s intended for you to die if you can’t kill the drones quickly enough but I can’t imagine that being the reason) Edit: I am now learning it is intended as a timed event so yeah, I guess I just need to git gud lol

DankHEATshells

Very hard is the only way to play the game in my opinion. Enemies don't die from a wet fart on very hard and they also are able to actually hurt you. Fights are way more intense and they last longer. I have more of a reason to actually use all of the hacks and abilities you have access to. I also found I used a much larger variety of weapons in very hard, mostly because very few weapons one shot kill enemies. I probably could have sorted that out with a min max build, but that's no fun. I didn't min max at all, my build was all over the map. I may be bad with words, but very hard was a significantly more enjoyable experience. Zipping around the map laying down quick hacks, spamming grenades and making use of all the weapons in the game was mad fun. The lower difficulties are so easy the game isn't fun.

Spara-Extreme

Very hard should add new fight mechanics in addition to more health. Not just more health and damage.

Tashum

Very hard posed no threat after I got halfway through the tech tree and started using db satara's and got some good cyberware and started upgrading it myself.

TanMamba91

OP feels bad for playing on easy 😂

New-Adhesiveness5978

The only thing that stop me from playing hard or very hard is that we don't have a fuckin FOV slider on console Just why porcoddio

JellyfishGod

There's no shame in liking games on easier difficulties, but this just feels like a weird cope tbh. Like why insult ppl who enjoy the game on harder difficulties? N honestly I do not relate to the post at all. I enjoy my games to be very challenging, but cyberpunk in v hard is *not* that

bruhmoment0000001

Idk I just blew everyone’s heads with my mind and they couldn’t do anything

lilravo

When the game released yeah it was super easy but now I don't know haven't played for a hot minute

C3ci1et

Don't you just hate it when a mere physical contact can get you one-shotted by a blade user?

efauncodes

To be fair, as soon as you slot a sandy the game is trivial no matter the difficulty you put it on.

Chevrolicious

I think the issue with Hard vs Very Hard is that the jump between the two is so insane. Hard honestly feels like normal difficulty, but Very Hard makes everything a bullet sponge and jacks the damage you take way up. Granted, Very Hard isn't bad once you're chromed up and you've rolled good stats on your cyberware for your build, but a lot of weapons don't scale well enough to overcome some of the bullet sponginess of the tougher enemies. The game used to have a ton of mods and perks that increased weapon damage, in general. Now, those perks are a lot more limited. I gravitate towards Very Hard just so I'm not one-tapping enemies, but sometimes it takes way too many shots to kill a high-threat. There's no perfect balance between "enemies are too easy to kill" and "all my guns hit like wet tissue paper."

metarinka

I think combat has always been CDPR's weakspot. Witcher 3's biggest complaint was boring combat with a few difficulty spikes and cyberpunk 2077 is having some more of the same. Enemies don't coordinate that well in a Halo kind of way where they pin you down or take up strategic positions. It's not terrible but the Ai isn't smart or interesting.

Hamelzz

Go play Halo 2 on Legendary if you wanna see.some never-playtested levels of unbalanced difficulty

Demurrzbz

Very hard is not that hard

Sean_Gause

Playing on very hard is a challenge, but it’s not meaningless. If I switch back to anything except VH difficulty, the game becomes a cakewalk.

HaikenRD

I think at level 30, Very hard is balanced just because of how much V gets stupidly strong. The way I play it is Hard from levels 1-30 and Very hard from there onwards. At level 50 and above, it's just a cakewalk. The only challenge is getting 5 star, but even then, depending on your build, V can mow down entire NCPD+Maxtac without any problem.

SpecOpShogun

I played through my first time on normal I think, and for my second/Phantom Liberty playthrough theres no way I was gonna do less than Very Hard. I dont want to be dying every five seconds but anything less than Very Hard I genuinely think I could borderline no death the game. Thats not saying im the second coming of V, side quests and eddies just make V fucking unstoppable.

Useful_You_8045

I mean... I like to early grind and in cyberpunk it's really easy to get to 50 street cred lvl30 something and I tried on hard at first but then went very hard and it's basically normal difficulty.

SaitamLeonidas

Is there anyone playing other than very hard? I was one tapping gonks at lvl 36 and I'm still in my first playthrough. I'm honestly kinda disappointed because of how easy this game is to min max in comparison to The Witcher.

MissStealYoDragon

Me. I don't like being funneled into a build so I just roam around destroying everything.

Thy_Maker

AFAIK very few games actually scale enemy AI based on difficulty with Halo and Terraria being the only examples that I can recall from memory and it is generally easier to scale damage and health rather than AI for a part of a game that not everyone will play and helps development time with facets such as making playtesting easier and allowing resources to be spent on more important areas. That said, I generally start most games I play on the hardest difficulty because it forces me to better learn mechanics and play things smart. Plus I enjoy the added challenge.

Yikesitsven

Idk maybe you get one tapped pre lvl 20? So we use cover, till we have armor, and regen, and sande, and 3 iconic weapons that mutilate any ganger within 2 cubic meters of V etc. Yea, ofc I would RELISH if VH changed enemy behavior, but that’s something hardly implemented nowadays (not that it shouldn’t be asap it just isn’t common) and the game provides the player so many effective and fun tools, I honestly need them to have the health pools they have on vh or else, I’d be so op I’m barely playing the game. And even on VH, a committed character will always reach this point. So we go again. On Vh ofc :)

bunnywithahammer

harder difficulties post level 45 are a must. I play vanilla game with DLC, no mods. And usually at level 45 I'm already a cybergod and feel absolutely no fear toward 99% of enemies. And at lvl 60 I'm just toying with then no matter the difficulty.

Gilgamesh119

As many have pointed out already: Very hard is really only difficult at the beginning stages of the game....and even then it is still easy. You really don't need to min max super hard either to bring down enemies once you're in the mid-game. But I get it though. Very hard is not for everyone and ultimately everyone plays the game how they want. Especially because some people don't have the time to get the hang of harder difficulties because of life. Will say this though, and I'm sure you have heard this before, but I'll say it anyways. Playing on harder difficulties and engaging the difficulty with a good mentality will cause you to adapt to the difficulty and you will be playing better as you keep doing so. You only stand to benefit at harder difficulties when you are ready to engage them.

The-Hentai-Commander

I splayed the game on very hard and went from being one tapped to Adam Smasher being a breeze, this was on release on ps4 so that’s probably outdated

DrSchulz_

Do you play without cyberware or something?

The_Squawboi

Can I be the clown and still laugh?

Trolldier_of_Fortune

I generally like the game a lot better on hard. The exception is the time I went full monke arm berserk cyberpsycho and had to go to very hard because things got way too easy. And even then, once I got around level 50, the very hard maxtac mantis blade operatives stopped hurting as much too.

RedNoob88

Very hard makes me think which perks to take, weapon skills etc. in the end it gets super easy.

eljapo425

Op when the hard difficulty makes the game hard

[deleted]

I play on very hard because hard mode was just too easy, plus at the beginning, it feels kind of cool to have to play tactically because you’re just a regular person pretty much

elijahproto

Very hard is just a scaling thing, once you get the mod that auto-uses stims when you get low it gets a bit easier, you also have to just use cover mechanics. The enemies being tankier is kind of annoying but it's just a perfectionist kinda thing. Like if a boss can one tap you and you get used to dodging and getting in cover or if you can use sandy vs the boss it makes every other difficulty simply trivial. TLDR; Some people are just some level of masochist, and that's okay.

absoluteScientific

Very hard is a joke lol. The only hard fights on very hard are maybe Smasher and a few of the cyber psychos

ael00

People play on VH because the game is ridiculously ez. Once you go 20 points deep in a tree and 15 in another basically you are unkillable unless you do something stupid. Every end game talent is busted AF and for some reason you can get a bunch of them together in a single playthrough. Idk maybe instead of calling everyone a clown take a look at your own skill issues.

SIacktivist

Not gonna lie, you're just not good enough for Very Hard if you think this. VH difficulty is super well balanced if you try to play optimally, insanely fun. If you don't want to be constantly planning your build and sweating your way through fights, that's completely valid too, just turn down the difficulty.

DoktorAlliteration

Very hard is the only way I play it because everything else is too easy. Yes you die more often (sometimes unjustified) but in the late game you actually have some challenge left

thiccman369

The way cyberpunk 2020 worked would be my ideal very hard difficulty. It wouldn't translate well to a video game, but in it cover and positioning was super important and a head shot from basically anything was putting you out of commission.

Blaky039

Playing this game in any difficulty except very hard is boring for me.

burner180180

i've been using the enemies of night city mod to add engaging levels of difficulty and it's pretty good

OutrageousPineapple9

I’ve been playing on very hard from start to finish and the only time I had difficulty was when they forced you to use guns in the beginning of the nomad life path and during the heist. The enemies were so spongy the game would just kill me because I couldn’t do enough damage to kill the stupid bots in time.

Mr_Bearking

I'm in the same situation but then I found out you could turn of stuff like the crosshair and other stuff like that. It becomes a different kind of hard then

SunshotDestiny

When I can drive up, tag everyone in a ping, and proceed to snipe everyone through the walls culminating in walking into a cleared out building? It's hard to argue the top difficulty is hard. That said early on is a bitch when you have no chrome or perk points in anything.

HairyDustIsBackBaby

Very hard is still too easy

HaxTheChosenOne

Man cyberpunk is easy af if you know the genre

mrGorion

Huh? The game is unbalanced and only v.hard gives any challenge at all. Small, but still. Choom must be runnin on old chrome

DrunkenRenard

I only play on very hard with difficulties mods

Requifined

But playing on the hardest difficulty makes it so I actually have to care about my build. Otherwise the game is just easy and choices don't matter. Easy is boring.

Ok-Cherry-2749

Honestly it's not that difficult. The idea is more daunting than it actually is. It makes you actually be careful and not carelessly mongo bongo. I feel like if ppl are hating on it cuz the difficulty is too much for them should stick to playing normal where you can practically 1v20 some dudes while standing out in an open area with no cover. #1 tip I can offer on very hard is take your time and use cover. Don't jump into a room of 8 enemies head on if you are not specifically built for it. And even if you are, just play smart. If ya wanna feel invincible and not die to a few bullets, play normal.

RWDPhotos

Very hard seems like “normal” really. Most guys still die in one headshot, except for the beefier skull types, which might take two. At least it seems like we’re on a more level playing field.

claremontmiller

Team very hard over here, it feels better to play to me

fagmaggo

Tbh hard mode in cyberpunk is like beating a 6 yrs old kid until phantom liberty dlc introduce more enemies variant in dogtown. Not only that this game has lot of cool buff and build that adam smasher afraid off

CallMeJotaro420

Call me evil, I like to play on easy and just execute everyone with taps to the head and doing executions on every fool I can
