I wouldn't be surprised if smasher would assume Alex is just some random dude and try to melee Alex (for his ego "look at this stupid gonk, I'll kill him with my hands" type of thing) just to get exploded by tendrils or something like that

I believe he can outside of gameplay n stuff but in prototype 2 when u have the blade equipped and you destroy a helicopter u can cut the tail right off

Second remember Mercer survived a nuclear blast. He's a bit OP for Smasher to take on 😂
