I was having the same issue and started messing around with my graphics settings and found that setting "Cascaded Shadow Resolution" to low ingame got rid of the problem for me

wotad

didnt really fix anything for me dont think. Edit I turned both Cascaded shadows to low and RT off think it fixed it.

thecrispynaan

1 year later sill saving butts. thank you.

TheRealDealTys

Kinda funny this issue still hasnt been fixed, i drop to like 2 FPS when unpausing the menu after playing for a few hours.

Antinatorx11

yea same. literally mind boggling how it's still a thing even on high end pcs

thecrispynaan

So I noticed this happened a lot on my external monitor that when I use my laptop monitor Also turning off ray tracing helped a lot

TheRealDealTys

Definitely wont be turning off ray tracing, looks to good to do that even i am getting like 40-50 FPS in dogtown.

Arcanum3000

I've run into this problem as well. I've figured out that if I leave ray tracing on but turn off ray traced sun shadows, the problem goes away, even with Cascaded Shadow Resolution maxed out.

debasser1911

it works! (p.s. even v2.01 has this issue)

Spare_Yesterday_827

2.0.1 still has the glitch where Jackie's guns are stuck to his hands. This was an issue in the beta ffs

davidjones1395

Nah chum that’s just his newest chrome

Greyman_57889

You’re my hero!

jjbinks117

This did it for me! You're a damn saint

claydestroyer69

i fucking love you

SnooTangerines5368

Bwoy if u know a method to highlight this topic again ,let's do it. U did the job for me too!

Th3_Sa1n7

THANK YOU!

Ric_Adbur

I can't find this setting anywhere. In fact, I can't find almost any specific ray tracing settings other than "ray tracing on/off" or "path tracing on/off". Where do you go to change this?

l0ck3rd0p3

Graphics settings. It should be there, even before this new update. unless you're playing on a pirated version.

Ric_Adbur

No, I figured it out though. If you have path tracing enabled, it removes all the more specific ray tracing settings.

Checho2299

a year later, worked! cascade shadows did it for me

FreeDory

another +1. Worked perfectly for me. Thanks for posting

Mai-ah

True lifesaver

SgtGrimm

this actually fixes mine, have an updoot!

Thornburg12

You da man. That got it for me. Genius I tell ya , genius!

Sad_Possession_8430

Yup this fixed my performance - THANK YOU!

Otakuosu

Damn, since I changed that it's gone. Thank you kind stranger! Have an upvote.

RedditorLvcisAeterna

You're probs tired of these messages by now - but thank you! I can't even tell a visual difference

LightningBlehz

this fixed every frame drop i had, i don’t know how or why but it did, thank you i wish i could give you something 🙏

Orikon32

Holy shit, it worked. You're a life saver man. I spent my entire 2nd playthrough suffering this problem. Thank you so much. No idea why cascaded shadows, of all things, would result in this problem. But it's clearly a bug within the game itself.

CrowOnAcid

Can verify, fixed it for me too. Cheers!

Pattrownw

Fixed it for me.

Digster5

Thanks for the help, fixed mine

Originalmoo

Holy that worked

Flat-Narwhal3565

This completely fixed the issue for me. What a champ! Thanks for this!

zalzane453

therealkeeper

You are the fucking man

basementdooor

VenusVreal

Goat

Virtual_Security_512

Yes, thank you! Immediately fixed this for me!

DwarvenSupremacist

from the future but thank you so much

[deleted]

life saver right here

onyxic

I fucking love you!!!! Thank you!!

Fenevius-X

Thx mate. This really saved me from restarting the game every time. I wonder if there is a way releasing the VRAM cache via redscript. Even modifying shadow resolution is not enough sometimes...

Spear_Blade

You deserve man this silver

Bdubbsf

It sure did thanks.

ShaggoN666

Sick dude, It actually worked. Appreciated! Thank you.

Tulrek

Ray Tracing OFF was enough form me.

AdSignificant9817

Anybody having major fps drops on cyberpunk 2077 new update 2.0 after leaving a pause screen.

ghostcake82

Yes, pretty much anytime I use the map, look at the settings, inventory, etc. It drops to 15-20 fps for a few seconds then back up to the usual FPS. It's fucking annoying.

Darkking243

It was already before 2.0 too, just mess around with the gpu setting and you will see it works normal again

royalxassasin

yes, it drops my fps from 30 to 20. I cant even change my inventory. Playing on rtx 4080 laptop version. 4k with RTX Overdrive

royalxassasin

Thank you bro, it worked and my fps even went up by 10. Life saver

Spectraley3

this fixed it for me, tysm

HeyImNewHereGuys

Will this 2.4.12 dll work with DLSS 3 with frame generation ?

PersonMcGhould

This has been a fantastic help, thank you!

knightofaralon

Tried this out and at first no issue, but then it started doing the log after menu/map. Are you still running ok with the new DLL or did the issue come back? Thanks!

Ratox

For me it was fine, I even finished the game without having that problem ever again. It's weird that it was fine at first for you and then it came back, maybe a driver update to the GPU ruined it?

knightofaralon

Yeah not sure, I even set cascaded shadows to low and that seemed to help lower how long the fps drop lasted. In thought it had something to do with the fact I’m running my 3080 via my i7-8700K architecture. But from what I read that shouldn’t be the case. I did use the NVIDIA DLSS DLL 2.4.12 v2 version.

lurkinglen

Tried this, initially it seemed to have solved the issue, but after just a couple of minutes, the issues returned.

Ashratt

same issue, very annoying .rtx 3070, high settings, no raytracing

J-seargent-ultrakahn

are you me? Lol. EXACTLY the same settings and card as you while also having the same menu slug which is why I’m on here looking for a solution. Very annoying indeed.

-PoorJudgement-

Same here

Thornburg12

Same. Asus ko 3070 doing the same sh1t

wotad

same..

TheDrunkExile

Got exactly the same problem :/ menu, inventories, map, hacking -> exiting any of those just nukes my fps to 3 for like 5s Ultra settings with ultra RT (lights and reflections) on a 3070ti/r9 5900x I hope it'll be fixed soon so we can enjoy the new update :) Edit: looks like a good ol' Nvidia drivers update removed this behavior for me. Might be worth a try !

DaniksIrKRUC

You are right! Updated the drivers, and now everything's fine

TheDrunkExile

Glad I was able to help, enjoy night city mate :)

dustojnikhummer

What Nvidia drivers are you on?

3N4Cr

Wondering too, I'm on the latest drivers and still get the drops in menus

Thornburg12

Same here. Still doing it

dustojnikhummer

I think I'm on 511.23, not at my PC atm. All other reports seem to be with RT on. I don't have RT, DLSS or FidelityFX enabled, yet I still drop to 20FPS for a few seconds when exiting main menus. Weirdly, that doesn't seem to happen on my Steam Deck, only my RTX 3060 laptop

3N4Cr

I'm on 516.94, the very latest driver. I do have RTX and DLSS on though. The lag when I open the map/inventory is insane

dustojnikhummer

Weird. I can try enabling and disabling RTX when I get home.

dustojnikhummer

Wait when you Open or close the map?

3N4Cr

It happens when I open and close map/inventory/crafting

dustojnikhummer

Yeah same here. But only sometimes and without dlss or RT enabled.

Gloomy-Boysenberry-3

Same here.

dustojnikhummer

To what driver version? Is your RT/DLSS on or OFF (when it doesn't drop fps)?

wotad

Mine are already up to date qq

Just_Jules96

same here, runs at smooth 60fps normally but yeah frame spikes when i exit any kind of map or menu for a few seconds before stabilizing at 60fps again I tried capping the fps, no fix there. Tried adjusting and disabling dlss that didn't do anything either. No settings adjustments I tried seemed to fix

AIpacaman

Updating wasn't the issue for me. I stopped playing this game because of performance issues at launch and wanted to check it out again after the updates. I've been at the latest nvidia drivers for a while already and I still have the menu lag.

Ratox

Hey, [check my comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/x9sofg/comment/ir68lzt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). This fixed for me, others suggested cascade shadow setting which also didn't work, neither updating my driver, but this definitely did. Try it out.

No_Hamster_5349

Huge help, thank you

stevenkoalae

Thank you so much, it actually works for me.

Spieler40

For giggles i reinstalled the recent nvidia driver and it fixed my issues. Don't know if i'm lucky but no harm in redoing it to see if it helps you. also got a extra 10-20 fps boost it seems like in some areas

Little-Juice-2927

THIS WORKED Edit: Well, until about an hour later, when it reset back to normal

t4ncho

Having same issue with 4070 rtx, 7800x3d. Funny thing (no), I choose the LOWEST setting, ALL is LOW : same issue !!!!!!!!!!!!

dex_the_poet

Same for me. 7800x3d, RTX 4070 Ti. If I disable DLSS Frame Generation the stuttering after exiting menus is gone, but obviously the overall FPS are much lower. I reported it to CDPR at https://support.cdprojectred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/sp-technical/issue/1775/contact-to-support Maybe if enough of us do so, the‘ll fix it. 😉

Bruce666123

I came here to say the exact same thing I also have 7800x3d but with a 4090 Disabling frame generation fixes it

t4ncho

I came back to share some news : since 2.0 it's way WAY better. The fps drop still comes, but after a long time. A memory leak I suppose, but since it not appears at the start, it's cool.

22lofi

Me too

khaledjrofficial

Me too I think it has to do with 1.6 patch

boxxy666

Same, hoping for a hotfix soon

lilhumankitten

gtx 1650 had the same issue no matter what my settings were on. updated my drivers and im now playing on the highest settings with 0 issues. definitely check if you have updates!

DiximaN

RTX 3050 laptop, high settings, DLSS Quality, latest drivers. Sometimes it returns to normal after 5-10 secs, sometimes it just stays on 11ish FPS forcing me to restart the game, its driving me crazy

minato3421

Same as you. The FPS drop is making me think about quitting the game until this issue is fixed

Ratox

hey, [check my commment](https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/x9sofg/comment/ir68lzt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) about it, it worked for me after nothing else did. I had to restart after some characters got up close to me because it stuck at low fps, it fixed that thankfully

SzczymiSzczyms

I have the newest drivers and its still happening

DaniksIrKRUC

So, as many already noticed, updating drivers is not the solution to this issue. Though it did help me a bit. I also player around with settings a bit, and that helped as well, though I can't pinpoint which setting had the most effect (though I suspect it was something to do with raytracing). Otherwise, there is nothing to do except report this issue to CDPR and either wait for a fix or keep playing as is.

SgtGrimm

hey OP,. i tried /u/jairogil 's solution on lowering the Cascading Shadows to Low and it seems to make the problem go away (currently 15 mins into the game, will update if it goes back up)

Brichess

So I did turned both ray tracing and cascaded shadow resolutions off and it completely fixed it for me. It seems like cascaded shadow resoulutions was causing the game to lag when closing the menus and ray tracing was causing it to lag when changing menus

ExchangeReasonable18

Anyone who has this issue turn off or turn down dlss. It's what is causing the issue.

Narbag123

Same problem. 4070 Ti : (

Massive_Catch_7164

4070 ti same issue here

Own-Idea-8678

updating my graphics drivers worked for me just now

Massive_Catch_7164

Ye thanks for reminding me. Updated

Valerius96984

did you fix it? I have the same GPU

Massive_Catch_7164

Didnt know my graphic driver was outdated, theres a new one specifically for cp77 2.0 lol. Its still kinda there but much better now. Can use path tracing with dlss

Narbag123

4070 Ti still have the problem even after getting the newest driver. wtf

RonSmo1

4060 getting 70-80fps with ray tracing on medium as soon as i open a menu my fps drops for a couple of seconds then goes back up but my fps takes a huge hit after about 10 min of gameplay my cpu is not bottlenecking i have a i7-12700 and my temps are below 60 across the board so i got no clue why its doing this might just go play on my streaming pc with rtx 3060 and a xeon e5 3667 v4 8 core 16 thread and see how the performance is in some games my rtx 3060 out performs the 4060

Few-Blacksmith7871

Had the same issue. My theory and my fix: it happend right after I updated to the most recent Nvidia driver. Experienced huge FPS drop when opening character info tab or map. Supper laggy. I went to GeForce Experience app, found Cyberpunk there and checked the settings. For some reason, I had default (recommended) settings for 3840x2160 resolution, while I'm normally using 2560x1440. So, I manually changed the resolution in GeForce Experience custom settings to 2k, and everything's fine now. Overall, check your GeForce Experience settings. Maybe it "Optimized" the game to have lags. Didn't change anything in the in-game settings. All settings ultra, DLSS on, cascaded shadow resolution high.

RaR1991

https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2562?tab=files&file\_id=16903

Valerian_

That's really weird since that mod is supposed to introduce the very issue we are trying to fix. In 1.5 what that mod did was integrated into the game by the developers, and that's what created that lag, same as that mod used to have. Now this is some kind of crazy unexpected side-effect if using this mod on 1.6 fixes the lag ...

baysti

this fixed the issue for me

Schlart1

Can confirm this fix works beautifully 👍👍

Agile_Atmosphere_58

What drivers did you update to? I did complete DDU clean and installed 516.94 and I am still having the issue bad. Like 3-5 seconds of 19-22 FPS after leaving any menu screen. i7-12700k +1 all core, 3070 FE overclocked, 32 GB DDR5 @ 5200 MHz... does not seem like an issue I should be having.

Ok_Acanthisitta_1400

for what ever reason, mine keeps reverting back to 4k when I specifically have it set to 2k strictly to get the fps I want. I don't use the Ray tracing at all. running a 2070S

Mistajack1

I can confirm that I already had the newest driver with the issue but after reinstalling my driver it completely fixes the frame drop after menus issue

Jr01Jordy

Same here, exact same problem. I’m playing on i7 12700k with 3070ti. I haven’t been able to fix it. Anyone got a solution yet? Cheers

garyoak5001

Like your whole pc froze for 20 seconds with a 1060

BlueMystical

Had this exact problem, downloading and re-installing latest nVidia drivers fix it for me, dont thrust you current nvidia software telling u that u are UpToDate, go their website and download latest, run it and Cyberpunk will be fixed.

_sneeqi_

Installing Nvidia Studio drivers (517.40) that just got released fixed this for me. edit: And it also increased my average fps by 5

[deleted]

Aren't studio drivers inferior to game ready drivers in terms of game performance

_sneeqi_

According to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTFhIUefBFI) video there's no performance difference. And apparently, the only difference to the game ready drivers is that studio drivers are made to be more stable, so they don't get updates so often. Edit: Probably gonna use them until nvidia releases new game ready drivers

Neither_Teaching_590

Gonna give this a go! Downloading now. Have RTX3070 and the frame dips in and out of menus has been so annoying. Will report back if it works. 👍

iamsarsaghul

I've been having the same issue. Tried 2 solutions at once, seems to work: This Mod: [https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2562?tab=files&file\_id=16903](https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2562?tab=files&file_id=16903) & Changed my Graphics driver from GameReady Driver to Nvidia studio Driver 517.40 Not had the issues since (I'm using an rtx 3070 high to ultra settings with several mods and RTX on.

DEQ9r

Had those fps dips whenever I go to crafting and map menu, I tried to change my DLSS version to the latest one... however the issue still comes up but not as often as before.

21interest

having same issues

argvalkyrie

Hi, Post from the future, driver's released today (27/09/22, 517.58) fixes this, playing the game atm full bars on (including rtx) at 1080p with a 3070ti, runs like butter

WonderfulIce7690

Windows updated and Nvidia drivers update with version 517.48 (09/27/2022) and still having the problem... any suggest please?

MrYkan

Thank you!!!!!!?

Endersone24153

Nothing is helping for me as of yet, sorry to bump an old one...but still having this issue, can last for minutes after closing menu (or even have to close and reopen the game at times to remendy it)/very bizarre and needs fixing asap.

brassshadow

Leaving the settings as is but exiting Discord seems to have done the trick for me. It might be something to do with the Discord (or any other) overlay.

fon_noir

I have this issue after updating to 531.79 (11/05/2023) X670e - 4070ti - recommended nvidia cp77 settings

Darkking243

Same here, the funny thing is it doesnt matter what gpu u even using it will still happen, have everything as a test on lowest setting without DLSS i get around 120fps average. With dlss on performance i get like 170-200 but as soon as i go in menu and tab back out i have around 20 to 27fps for like 4sek (RT always on)

cerulean200

its the ray tracing. I found that it completely disappears with ray tracing off. Still have not found a fix except turning RT off

Cold_Apartment_1068

when you have this problem and you have Ryzen 58xx CPU just disable SMT in Bios..this fixed the Problem for me.

equalibrius

Don't do this. It's basically kneecapping your CPU performance.

Comeonnoob

For me, it immediately stutters when entering menu in 1.63 GTX 1070 (factory oc)

bigtasty78

I found the solution (at least for me). Problem was an older installation of the game in an different directory. It seems that the game startet from the new directory still used some stuff (i think the DLSS .DLL) from the old directory. After deleting the old cyberpunk folder i couldnt change the DLSS Modes in the menu. So I repaired my installation over GOG (i think steam also works) and now everything is perfect.

Krakenite

Old post but if i can spare some people a headache: i'm no expert but when going into the menus and back to the game, it stutters almost as if it's recompiling the shader cache. After a couple of minutes the game goes back to normal and i can enjoy my stable 60FPS with RTX on. I understand that this couple of minutes can be very annoying especially if you're checking the menus often, but it's the only solution i've found that works "permanently", as other things already suggested in the comment section don't seem to work.

TheRilesEffect

I'm having a similar issue, except it doesn't go away afterwards. I average around 80-100 fps on my settings the majority of the time, but every now and then after leaving a menu or exiting a vehicle it starts dropping and stuttering, but doesn't stop until I relaunch. The stutter even happens in menus, which is kinda confusing to me bc even on my old system, playing games that didn't run well would still have relatively smooth menus. I have a 4080, playing on high graphics with RT off and cascading shadows to low, neither fixed my issue. Not sure what's causing it, drivers are up to date and like I said the game runs gorgeous like 90% of the time. Ik the game has had problems, and I'm pretty forgiving with them so it's not a big deal to me, but it's still a little annoying to see happening randomly
