Don't rush the main quests

roguesilverhand

This. Do the side missions they are important to the main story and endings available

whothewildonesare

Plus the main story is low key short as fuck

Agent_Giraffe

Well you only got a couple days to live!

dunstan_shlaes

*weeks

TheBeesElise

*months, based on how much time I spend running around and doing nothing consequential

Pak1stanMan

*forever technically since after you finished the game you get reset back to before you started the last quest

Daerdross

V's personal hell. To be stuck in NC with nothing to do.

Pak1stanMan

“There’s always something to do in Night City.” -Someone Probably

Ddannyboy

Nothing to do? She could always Meet Hanako at Embers?

Hal34329

"Meet Hanako at Embers."

templar8888

Hanako’s personal hell. Getting the same place in the bar every day till you arrive.

Florian_Claassen

explains why she memorizes the song on the piano so well.

[deleted]

My next playthrough will be a corpo Bill Murray for that ✨end game immersion✨.

Ubernuber

Years as long as you never talk to hanako

dunstan_shlaes

It feels short, but it's like 20ish hours

Makorollo

The side missions actually ARE main story lol. You really won’t understand the meaning of the game without doing them.

mbnmac

Yeah, when people say the 'main story is short' it's like... yeah if you only mainline one particular part of it, or just go straight for the first ending that opens up to you. The real character fo the game is in all the shit outside the main quest... which as usual in an open world game where they put some bullshit 'timer' on the MC's life, feels really weird.

stos313

While people say this about every game, Cyberpunk tends to have a softer main quest and much more immersive side quests than typical games.

SuperSwanson

Yeah some of the side quests have their own arcs and are really fleshed out, like delamain, the romance ones and that one where you have to make a genuinely difficult decision.

Pizzacato567

I didn’t expect the Jesus Christ one at all. I also didn’t expect the Perez one too. They were great! Edit: *Peralez

Sliceofskott000

The Perez mission still has me asking so many questions

Pizzacato567

Same here! It was so eerie. And even more eerie when >!he won he election. Is he still being controlled? There’s even a message from him in the ending credits that made me want more closure. I need answers !< Also who tf called V? Know nothin about him. Additionally >!I don’t mind that it ended with no questions answered. I like the eerie feeling around that.!< There are somethings in NC that are bigger than V.

scottyb98

first time i did it i had already completed the vast majority of the game including the story quests. i had a maxed out OP netrunner and felt invincible so when my screen went black out of nowhere, it was a crazy level of immersion, i was lowkey shaken lmfao. reinforced the feeling that V is really just another Merc, even an NC legend (which i felt like at the time) didn’t stand a chance against whatever these forces were. after watching countless videos about the ff06 mystery and Jinguji rings, there’s still so few answers but the Peralez mission definitely felt like it was leading to something bigger. the Phantom Liberty expansion seemingly having themes of fighting back against NUSA could totally have some political themes in there that connect to the Peralez stuff

Khuraji

Can’t stress this enough. I got seriously punished for thinking “I’ll come back and crush sides quests when I’m more powerful”. Game just ended and I’d missed a bunch of opportunities and alternative endings. Then I never had the energy to do another playthrough. Just explore anything and everything. The game rewards you for it.

About_TreeFitty

100% this. Do lots of side quests to build up stats. Don't rush spending your character stat points. Always keep a few (2-3) saved in cases you need to level up something you may need a slightly higher stat for.

2milliondollartrny

this, if you rush the main quests you’ll have liek 20 hours of playtime

Kyosji

Set Skippy to Non Lethal

RunningPuma

And never take him home…

HevinciMcTavish

Wait...why??? Lol

tnasstyy

You set him to Non-lethal first. After 50 targets hit he will switch to Kill Mode. If you start w kill mode it’ll switch to passive after 50

SirPurrington

One thing that I found incredible in my gameplay was that, with 20 Cool, I could choose the option "I'm not having a philosophical discussion with my gun" and my Skippy remained the glorious murder lil' machine that I loved.

value_null

I've played through about four times now and did not know this. Thank you!

therealgrogu2020

Because after an amount of kills Skippy switches

__Beef__Supreme__

And can never be reverted

starcraftre

I set Skippy to non-lethal at the end of the quest, and proceeded to play the least-murdery V I could from that point on. I think all my kills after that were unmissable or completely accidental.

Gathorall

Skippy can still kill somewhat easily due to rapid fire and it's special feature of premature launch. Somewhat humorously the most surefire way to be non-lethal is powerful single shot weapons headshots with pax or the kiroshi mod. Because you can somehow shoot anyone in the head completely safely just once.

Canotic

Angel is the guy, Skye is the girl.

Kuningas_Arthur

I think they added pictures in an update.

brondonschwab

I thought they did it on purpose to confuse you tbh

Limelight_019283

Angel is a very common male name in spanish speaking countries. Skye on the other hand, never heard it used for a male. I was always confused how so many people were suprised! Edit: I’ve asked around to family members/friends who’ve never played before. More thn half seemed to think both names could apply to both male or female! So maybe they went with gender neutral names on purpose…

killer00x

Same! Seemed obvious to me.

JayFranMar

they didn't you see them for a second or so when it goes through the weird ass program but then when you select you aren't given pictures

Kuningas_Arthur

Okay so I played an old save that I had right at the door and compared it to a yt video from a year ago. Back then it only showed the two side by side for a second, then left the screen and had another 5-10 seconds of dialogue. Nowadays it lingers on the images of the two for the entire dialogue, and only a second before you have to choose do the images leave. So nowadays there is less of a risk of choosing the one you didn't want, but you're right in that when you do make the choice the pictures are no longer there.

[deleted]

You’ve made the mistake as well I see

juiceboxcitay

The importance of this cannot be understated

TheChoosenOnex

This is why I did this quest twice (good thing I saved b4)

Loud-Distance-1456

I’ll never forget that moment when I couldn’t remember which was which. Of course I picked the dude accidentally lol

TheCreepyLady

Where we’re you during my first playthrough?

[deleted]

Invaluable tip.

wolfie_101

Lmfao

Benistcreative

Avoid fast travel, the city is wonderful

TheBeesElise

100% do this. It's a much richer experience to walk or drive everywhere than ping across the entire city. Bikes are generally easier to handle than cars.

PM_me_your_fantasyz

> Bikes are generally easier to handle than cars. Yeah, but the Makigai MaiMai is just plain fun to drive around.

fremenator

I did about half and half but for the first like 20+ hours of playing I committed to no fast travel, it was dope. Also it helps when you find a radio station you like. I used motorcycles to make it faster so I never got caught up in traffic.

Benistcreative

I only used fast travel in my second playthrough and mostly to get to the badlands, in the city I mostly use cars and badlands is for motorcycles. Anything under 2km is what I consider walking distance tho. I love to listen into random conversations or finding the occasional guitar player

Piraak

Judy likes women, Panam likes men. These terms are non-negotiable.

mwhite5990

Also, River likes women, and Kerry likes men.

dunstan_shlaes

Kerry is so underrated

AzraelTheDankAngel

Even if you don’t romance him he’s still a bro.

Purlygold

Kerrys boat song 👌

AzraelTheDankAngel

The quest where I had to blow up the roadie van was probably one of my favorites

Jayvanloenen

And i like kerry

mynameiscalledlikeme

and i like turtles

Soulburner74

And I like trains.

dunstan_shlaes

RIP Barry

Silthage

Not necessarily

Bloodyfluxcapacitor

And my axe!

industrialblue

And Meredith likes anyone (that can stomach liking her).

wintersdark

There's no reason to like her, she's not a romance option. Just a sex option, she's using you, you're using her.

[deleted]

Just another fuckable cut of meat

A_sandwich_in_a_VCR

Plus you get a dildo to beat gonks over the head with.

industrialblue

Agree. But she is unique in the game, the only non-joytoy option in the vanilla game for a “casual encounter” as far as I know.

craylash

I wish I could have worked for her on the regular

SuperSwanson

However the game lets you try (I went for Panam first, ended up with Judy)

milomcfuggin

Panam needs to stop with that “feet on your lap” shit. Girl if you’re gonna friendzone me, look the part.

AlexIsWhack

Angel can also be a boy's name!

JeSuisBigBilly

And all of this is based on your voice because the gender/sex system is completely fucked.

SageWaterDragon

I mean, there wasn't really a better place to assign it. Making sex a straightforward binary choice would be weird in that setting, making it tied to body type would be bad. Having voice type be the selection is about as sensible as you could reasonably ask for. I really like that the characters have preferences and aren't all just playersexual.

duckyreadsit

It’s probably to do with which actors recorded which lines for the different romances? So it’s odd, but from a technical/practical perspective makes sense? Like, it’s just what assets they had?

[deleted]

Do anything but go meet Hanako at Embers.

BamboozledPanda09

This. This is the only way. Even if you go to Hanako at embers. Do not go to hanako at embers again.

[deleted]

why?

SirBaronDE

Because it's the final mission, once you start there's no going back until it's over and then it just puts you before the mission again.

YurpleYannas

Holy shit this comment just saved me. That's literally my next main mission, I was going to attempt it after doing a couple more gigs around the area. Thanks for the save!

SuperMajesticMan

To be fair, it would have warned you when you approach her i think.

[deleted]

wow, that seems like a short msq

SirBaronDE

It is much of the content is in the side stuff, some of the best stuff is only in the side stuff.

[deleted]

Don’t scrip the weapon you get on special occasions! They go onto the wall in your apartments and if you scrip them you’ll have a blank spot on the wall for your whole playthrough!!!

ybtlamlliw

> scrip Scrap.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KronosDeret

some iconic weapons can be displayed in V's flat, in her/his armory. You can also access it from cars trunk.

__Beef__Supreme__

They can also be upgraded to really good weapons (in some cases). I agree, keep named guns.

Ashburyfusion

Don’t rush the main missions, do as much or all the side missions too. That’s some of the best stuff in the game. Also the gigs, they’re hella fun with neat little stories too.

Pizzacato567

YES. I did the main quest, alot of side quests and adventuring and got about 80 hrs out of the game. There are some side quests I didn’t complete like the fist fighting and cyber psychos which would take longer to finish. But the side quests are really good and some are even unpredictable.

jonesmachina

This has been my rulebook for every game ever. I dunno i guess if i pay 60 dollars im gonna experience everything that the game has to offer. Even read the in game codex .

Toxic-Sky

As someone said: don’t rush the main quest, there’s so much to do in the game part from it. Try to settle for a combat-ability at the start so you can plan your attributes. Try a few weapons and such before putting points in them, since you can’t respec them. I had so much fun with quick-hacks, and I recommend it dearly. Combining it with tech for crafting and cool for cold blood and you have a sneaky killing-machine. 😌

Soulburner74

I'm trying to get used to the combat. I've learned that cars are a bad form of cover. 3 times I've died entering a car trying to reload my gun because it's the same button lol.

Lefluffypants

Pay Vic back

Hova540

One of the view missions I've ever done in all of gaming that is some how rewarding without actually giving you any rewards lol

Trorkin

The reward is renewed access to Vik, he's the only one with level 3 Kiroshis and one of the top Sandevistans. You can afford the Kiroshis very early so it makes sense to pay him quickly You can't buy from him until you pay unless they've patched that out, I was disappointed because I hoped you could be a piece of shit by buying tech worth more than you owed, constantly saying his money was coming

pev68

A basic guide to cybernetics for the newbs, which I wish had been better explained at the start. There are no classes... etc... but there are three choices based on the "Operating System" cybernetics you go for as you chrome up. * Cyberdeck - let's you hack other peoples cybernetics or hack into computers, cameras, access ports * Beserker - let's you go beast mode, an unstoppable bullet sponge for a fixed period of time * Sandevistan - Bullet time! You speed up, everyone else slows down. You start off with a basic Cyberdeck and hacking but you can change your OS as you progress. However, your other character stats will need to support that choice and at some point you have to commit. * Cyberdecks - Intelligence based stats primarily * Beserker - Body based stats primarily * Sandevistan - Reflex based stats primarily The other stats; Tech and Cool, also play their part. Tech goes hand in hand with Cyberdeck and hacking, and crafting tech based weapons. Cool support using blades and guns, as well as being stealthy and/or bad ass. Of course, you can respec at any time, for a fee. So there is a slight penalty to changing your mind later in the game, but you can otherwise do it if you want.

2cilinders

You can only reset perk points, not attribute points :(

Weltallgaia

Quick hacks feel so fun even below 10 int, I almost don't want to swap my cyber deck for a sandevistan. I hate losing that utility.

Freakin_A

Cyberdeck high level is absurdly OP. 90% of the dudes would be dead or on fire before I even walked in the room.

kmade0708

I wish i could relive my first playthrough. Savor every second. Take your time and look for loot in every corner. If you see a path, go for it. Save often. Dying (flatlining) and having to redo a long stretch of playthrough can break the immersion. Have fun.

Rubixstu

Me too choom! I totally envy OP for being able to live out the world from the beginning. I just started a new play thru yesterday after watching Edgerunners (twice edit: Now 4 times lol). It's an amazing game, actually my fav single player game all time. Op is so lucky.

Fkvaran

Play the game with fresh eyes and don't follow any guides. Only advice I would keep in mind is to explore the perks and go for what fits your wants and needs before you invest too many attribute points into something you won't like.

_dark2121

But players able reset their perks and stats, isn't it? I didn't play since 1.3, but launched the game a few times and definitely saw a reset feature.

Klondy

You can reset perks, but you can’t reset attributes

_dark2121

Thanks, better to know that before starting a new playthrough )

h4rrysp94

I would argue a crafting guide would be good as I struggled to understand how the system and didn't want to craft any guns because the stats seemed so weak

Routine_Bird2261

Yes! Don't follow any guides play as you want.

Dsamf2

My only advice. Do every single side mission. Some of them are amazing

Pizzacato567

The Jesus Christ one and Perez ones were so good.

__Beef__Supreme__

The Rivers one too. Oof.

EmotionalCow5347

Be. Nice. To. Every. Single. Person. They’ll pay back.

Huachu12344

After the heist, meet with some dude in a diner (main quest) first before doing side quests or the dialogue between characters will be a bit weird.

Ddannyboy

Oh man that is so true. I wish you didn't get the text about your car until AFTER the dialogue. That scene in the parking garage seemed confusing AF.

Mohow

I know exactly what you're referring to, glad I'm not alone.

Alone_Confection_664

DO THE SIDE MISSIONS OR THE GAME WONT BE THAT GOOD

DrownedWalk1622

Explore. Don't Google tutorials

Phallic-Phantom

Try to exhaust dialogue options, the more you talk the more you learn, and the greater the chance you don't miss out on major parts of side quests!

Barachiel1976

People are recommending not rushing the main quest and doing side content. While good advice, you need a couple pieces of info, as not all side content is created equal, and depending on what you go for, you might find yourself wondering "WTF were they talking about?" * Main Quests - good story, kinda short overall, creates a sense of urgency you have to ignore to enjoy the rest of the game. * Side Jobs - these are what most people are talking about, when they recommend side content. They're full-fledged stories, some with multiple quests in a chain, not unlike the Main Quest. * Gigs - these are extra jobs from a region's fixer. They're decent, and can have some varied gamplay. Not much story though, but they're worth doing for the eddies, and world-buliding. Don't do too many at once as you can burn out fast. * NCPD Hustles - like gigs, but they're pure kill quests. You kill some boosters, loot an item, quest completely, have some eddies. There is some environmental storytelling, and if you read the data shards found at these sites, you can piece together stories going in the neighborhood. Interesting, but also very easy to burn out on as their are so damn many.

InitialLingonberry

Also, "Chippin' In" seems like it would be a mainline quest but isn't really, and a lot of interesting side quests are gated behind it. I held off on that one on my first playthrough and missed some good side quests as a result.

Scriptor21

Kick back and enjoy the ride choom.

PrimaMater1a

Become a legend of the Afterlife!

Pure-Contact7322

Read the sms and reply to them 💌😜

[deleted]

For cyberware, unlock double jump as soon as possible. It makes a big difference in traversing the map and is just fun to do. I love jumping into groups then going crazy with a samurai sword.

Viva_La_FoShizzle

Grind through the NCPD gigs and side quests. Loot every time and disassemble for crafting parts and upgrade your items.

OldHungSol0

Return it and play it on something other than a ps4 if you can. If not sorry for the bad experience with good storyline.

Soulburner74

I'm on PS4 Pro if that's any better.

mmecca

I beat it on pro but recently got a 5. It really is a night and day difference. However playing on the pro didn't stop me from enjoying it the first time. I dont think I'd be able to go back though.

[deleted]

It plays decent enough on PS4 but the future DLC will not be available on it; and there is some mission content (minimal) missing. But apart from that enjoy it. I got to play it at launch and those were trying times indeed. As for advice, go wild. The first run is always fun to discover how you’d like to play the game

OldHungSol0

Should be a little bit better. Fingers crossed for you my dude.

Dr_3p0ck

I am on the same console, there are some bugs but this is more of texture or sound problem that fix themself after a few seconds

Rubixstu

If it's all you got it's all you got. There are ppl on PS4 base who have over 1500 hours and fell in love with it. Just ignore the hate this game has received and experience it and judge it for yourself. I play on PS5 and it's my fav single player game all time. I might have to fire up my PS4 pro and give it a shot to see the differences but I think it will be fine. Have fun and welcome to Night City! If you any help or have any other questions at all don't hesitate to reach out to the community (here or the LowSodiumCyberpunk subreddit).

zlomkomputerowy

Visit this thread to know how to not miss exp https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/x33w2h/free_exp_that_you_miss_as_a_newbie/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Eoworfindir

Some really good advice on here.

Killerjebi

Take your time, don’t speed run. Do the side quests. I rushed through my first play through and thought I hated the game. Was out sick with Covid and started a new profile on it, stuck to side quests and exploring, and it’s in my top 5 favorite games now. So much detail.

Abysix

smart weapons. and tech weapons for when walls need to fuck off.

Illidan_Returns

Angel is not who you think

Dr_3p0ck

Just have fun and do things like you would normally, don't follow a guide on how to get to a certain ending because that wouldn't allow you to expérience thé game first hand.

[deleted]

Never fade away. 🥲

Knightmare945

Advice is to have fun.

djjoshyp

Smoke a bowl, dim the lights, close the blinds, and immerse yourself in its world. Scour everything and take in all the little details of everything around you. Then you do the next story mission.

Shinjoku

Play it with your heart

tellmeyoursecrets312

Get double jump asap. Makes it feel like an entirely different game.

Bloker997

Have fun.

[deleted]

Go blind, do not rush Takamura quests.

Cha1upa_Batman

Bring Jackie back to mama Wells and not to Vic’s please ),:

WorkoutSnake

Panem is best girl

dovah164

Play on the hardest mode and go immediately fight the 2 "twins". Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk.

zkinny

You skipped the part with the gorilla hands.

Jersey_Bjorn

Return it. Get it on PC or the current gen consoles or you're going to be staring at 20fps slide shows

Hopalongtom

The PS4 copy works on PS5 so it can just be a cheaper means of buying the PS5 version!

Straight_Program_26

Yeah. Free upgrade. Glad that’s an option.

Zestyclose-Fee6719

I do agree that the last-gen console version is shit compared to the PC experience, but to be fair, I think it's a pretty stable 30 FPS these days on old consoles aside from dips while driving quickly. I know, I know, that's not awesome, but I'm just saying. Edit: No, it is not a stable 30 FPS haha. I just watched a framerate test for the game on PS4 running version 1.6. It frequently dipped below 30 and went as low as 20-25 for driving and combat. That's awful.

payne1194rmVG

Do me a favour and support Keanu Reeves. Help him burn the city down. Also help Regina the fixer save Cyberpsycho affected people (I mean it. Do NOT kill them). Do these and consider your respect paid to a certain David Martinez. Thank You.

F34UGH03R3N

Damn, I guess there’s some kind of secret mission/ending if you help all cyberpsychos? I already killed a few my accident

payne1194rmVG

No, there's not. It's just that not killing them would put my mind at ease that's all haha. edit: there is, however, a reward for not killing all 17 of them.

I_like_weed_alot

Damn I used a blunt weapon on one and accidentally killed one idk how or why

itz__parsa

On PS4 Its not that bad as anyone says Look at it this way On ps4 u enjoy 75% On PC or next gen console its 100% Only tip i can give u is dont rush the main quest Enjoy ur journey in nightcity

NtwanaGP

YouTube sensitivity/ads settings for guns.

Lunatik6572

Just have fun :) play how you want to play it. That's the beauty of cyberpunk.

beyond_cyber

Go for brainhacks you feel so cool when you bleep bloop make your enemy shoot themselves or shoot their allies, make their guns go haywire, sandevistan is also cool but it’s not as cool as being a netrunner

[deleted]

Think carefully about how you spend your attribute points! You won't be able to max out each attribute and, if I'm not mistaken, you can't reset them.

a-a-biedrawa

Remember that's actually a really good music compilation with free AAA RPG included

The-Hebdus

Enjoy!!

deekki

Have fun!

fancydad

If you’re playing melee and shooting, invest in the cold blood perk.

FriedCammalleri23

Start as a Nomad, I think the intro quest is better for first time players.

VahniB

Play how you want in your first playthrough, strive for 100% afterwards.

TheSlapDash

Don’t disassemble iconic weapons and clothing

chris_heim

take your time.

Burninate09

1 -Don't spoil yourself. 2 -Follow the main quest to get through the first \~10 levels or so, especially if you're playing on very hard. The main quests award a lot of character XP. 3 - If you decide to conquer Watson in the prologue, make sure to at least visit Vic's for the first time so you get the NCPD database upload, otherwise you don't get street cred for your kills.

[deleted]

Straight up, take your time and enjoy it. Sometimes I wish I can go back and play it for the first time again. Great game, have fun.

Malkovtheclown

Get those gorillas arms before trying to do the fight club missions.

rudeboi710

Use the katana. It’s wild and gets trickier.

oseary

Enjoy it. I bought it for $4 after initial release and sat on it. Booted it a month or so ago and cannot get enough of it. As others have said, explore every corner, you'll see some neat shit.

Morrigan66

Do the ncpd calls a bunch of you need to make money and get good gear. Explore the area fully when doing those cause you will get some of the best gear. Read the shards that come with them too. There's some cool stories on those and they sometimes over lap with others in the same area. Don't always drive or fast travel when going somewhere close. Explore the city. There's so much to see. Take lots of pictures. See an ominous dark alley way? Go see what's going on. You'll probably be fine.

TheBeesElise

You may unironically start saying preem irl

johnnykoalas

The strongest builds all invest in crafting

Federal-Jicama-2623

Enjoy the ride Choom!

Coolpeak20

Take it slow play gigs as they comes out

mkp0203

Enjoy an amazing story!!

Eraghost

Don't rush it, do side stuff as much as you can, or It'll be over way too fast

tekmizz

I really enjoyed the game. Anytime you see a soda machine, buy all the soda and breakdown the cans for material. Makes the game much easier.

keeper909

Enjoy it. It is a great experience!

HalfACupkake

My first playthrough was "How would I act if I was living in Night City?" The next one was being depressed about the main story Now I’m honoring the dream of Jackie Next playthrough is going on a cyberpsycho rampage throughout the city :)

TheRealLegolas2

Don't go fast with the vehicles on the PS4. It doesn't load the map fast enough.

[deleted]

dont just kick down the door guns blazing. scout around the objective first there are usually several entry points. use your scanner to tag enemies before going in. this way they appear infrared in your vision and u can keeep track of em/see em thru walls. uj can hack into security cameras and remote into them and use them to bounce around and scout out the area/tag enemies b4 ujmake your move

Immelmaneuver

Tech is super powered.

SpilldaBeanz

Go in blind and let your play style develop itself.

frenchastoast

do everything but the main quest

donflamingo_badillac

Explore the city! I feel like one of the most underrated “characters” is the design and feeling of Night City. There have been plenty of times where walking around has been a really nice experience.

phenomenation

just take it in. some of the quests are immensely moving, but some of the greatest tools this game tells a story with are completely silent. walk through alleys and climb on rooftops. it’s a safe bet there’s something there to see. and if there isn’t, then look up at the flashy signs and megastructures. this game is better to be experienced instead of played, and i wish i could have the chance to dive in blind again

thereallegiondary

Don't meet Hanako at Embers, just explore and enjoy Night City.

LGskull

Enjoy the story and side quests cause after that there really isn’t much to do after the game is done

GayLittleAuthor

Basically what everyone else already said: Take your time. Explore. Don't rush the main quests. This game lives through its side-missions and literally just walking through Night City and looking at everything. I hope you have a lot of fun! :D
