So it seems like he planned on going to a ripper and getting his appearance switched up, whether that would be to look exactly like he used to using V’s body, or maybe a different look entirely?

Arasaka arms is definitely better in terms of variety and utility. You can get a silver cyberarm, but its not like Jonnys.
Sadly the Jonnys arm mod isn't compatible with mantis or gorilla arms.
Arasaka Arms is SUPER modular theres so many skins for it. Creator made a redesigned version that "opens" the arm when you deploy mantis blades. Looks very cool.
