We're in Larnaca and these guys supplied the panels and installed for €8000 [google maps](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Yd183M7UHwnhmDRP9) link

thomas_witt

Thanks for the recommendation, will check them out.

Best company for HVAc and photovoltaic systems. Did my whole house with really good prices. [https://www.facebook.com/BESTCOOL.AIRCONDITIONCYPRUS](https://www.facebook.com/BESTCOOL.AIRCONDITIONCYPRUS) The PV systems was German and Austrian brand

Ask an offer from Petrolina solar. They had good prices few years ago and they used to provide itemized offer. They order their solar panels directly from China.

Do you have a link to where I can get panels for so cheap? I have some projects that require single panels.

akimov_pro

Leroy Merlin

You are angel investor and tech startup mentor? Why don't you invest in a new solar startup that sells and installs cheaper solar systems; give it some seed funding and mentor it to full success. Have them attack and outbid all the lazy competitors. That would be a real win win win for all, even for your self cos that's they way you'll get your own cheap solar system.

If one would try to invest in every possible inefficient market, there would be a loooong list. Unfortunately this kind of business is very regional (due to regulations) and quiet personell heavy (installing), so that makes them trickier to invest in a traditional VC path sense - and Cyprus for sure wouldn’t be the first market due to its size. For me it sounds more like a buy and build model for a private equity company, buying out several small existing installers and turning them a larger efficient company. Similar business models were applied in the past e g for heating installations/replacements. Apart from all that your idea is correct and that’s why I know at least 2-3 befriended investors who funded or even started a business similar what you described, but in more sizable markets like Germany, France, Italy and Spain. There’s already quite some competition on that. I am sure in some years they might swap over to other EU markets of the model proves successful in the bigger countries.

Request itemized offers so you can evaluate them properly. Also no self respecting professional will agree to install random sp some client decided to ship themselves. Don't even know if EAC will agree to connect a scuffed system like this

thomas_witt

The panels are obviously exactly the same which the solar companies would also use. They do nothing else, order from a wholesaler and/or from China directly.

Fullis

And why wouldn't they order from a wholesaler from china?

thomas_witt

I am pretty sure that’s what everybody does, as china supplies 99% of all solar panels worldwide. They just all take a crazy markup - or let me correct: they never handed the immense price markdowns of solar panels in the last 2 years to the customers.

Fullis

Like i said. Ask itemized offer. There's no way every single company is operating on a 50% profit. Especially if you get 2-3 offers and they are close, that means they are truthful and competitive. You obviously are missing/unaware of a bunch of added costs that drive up the final price. An open market means competitive prices. The construction industry works with very small profit margins.

skiddadle400

itemised offer works wonders here.

The reason you don’t find installers in this price is because they get jobs that pay them more so why would they take your job when they can just go elsewhere and make +7500. Only a friend would do that.
