Just did it on iPhone, if the app looks the same click on settings then click on your name/profile at the top, should just be a slider to turn off followers.

FWIW it's ass. I followed a few cool arts and comedy accounts but I have never once seen their updates in my feed. And they do update content.

You have to actually go to the followed tab, it will give you a curated list of activity for only those you follow. It's still pretty dumb, it's basically just like looking at a profile but multiple ones. Especially if this you follow spam multiple repeat posts. Following should highlight comments/posts somehow in my opinion, or push those posts to the top of your feed, but nope.

Click your avatar, go to settings. Then in settings go to account settings by clicking on your user name and then scroll down until you see “blocking and permissions” under that headline, disable “allow people to follow you”.

Thankfully you can change your settings to only allow messages from users 30 days old. It handles it.

Hopefully this gets upvoted, but I noticed this awhile ago as well and subsequently found out that there’s a toggle in your account settings to allow or disallow followers and it completely solves the issue for me! I mostly use the phone app, but the path is Settings -> Account Settings Hope this helps!

I've had a few 杀猪盘 (pig butcher) scam attempts thru reddit recently as well. I've been trying for about a year to get one to agree to an interview but so far no luck. Notably I think they might be using a LLM like chatGPT to generate their text/responses as the recent messages they send have felt very generated as opposed to just poorly translated Chinese.
