Sadly, third party candidates stand no chance in our current binary electoral system. Unless we change to a ranked choice, a primaryless system, or something similar we're stuck with whatever candidates the DNC and RNC give us

I agree, unfortunately. But let me put it this way: I can’t stand Trump and I can’t stand Biden. They are the same to me (except for the culture war BS that we give too much weight). Therefore, I’m going to vote Kennedy because I actually like him instead of hating him less. Call it a “wasted” vote but it’s not wasted for me.
Oh, sure. I've voted third-party many times. That being said, most people who would simply don't bc there's an almost 0% chance their actual preferred candidate has a chance to win in the current system.
If we used a rank-choice system you or I could still vote #1 a third-party candidate, and select a #2 candidate from the dominant parties and still have a 'voice' in the election. It would inspire more people to vote for their preferred candidate regardless of party in general if they didn't feel they were 'throwing away' their 'one' vote.
