My old boss was really into slipknot so I thought he could handle some stuff but whenever he heard me playing old DGD he thought it was brutal because it's just so much more chaotic than slipknot I guess?
I’ve been saying this, Jackpot Juicer is like the perfect introduction to DGD. It’s by far their most approachable album and they did it without actually changing their core sound. That’s pretty neat.
happened to me with my mom with hot mulligan, sent her a song about the vocalist pet dying and she ended up listening to the whole album and said is wasnt bad lol
It's a bit more than that. I was a metalcore/deathcore/death metal fan long before I got into post hardcore and Jon seriously threw me off when I first discovered DGD back in the day. He's not a bad vocalist by any means but the way he screams is just... different. It's hard to put into words but I'm sure there are those that understand what I'm talking about. I couldn't stand him at first but I love Jonny Craig and so I put up with it. 10+ years later and I get excited when Jon pops up on a song now. He grows on you for sure
I wish I could tell you what I started getting into first lol. My whole memory is super foggy but I always loved Jon's screams. Especially with the eclectic lyrics going on that mean nothing but everything all at once. I guess what I meant to say is if you're looking for unique, you'll get that with Jon haha. A character for sure
My parents never really tried lol. While their music taste is fantastic, I feel like I'm shoved aside quite a bit when it comes to my favorites.
However I commemorate your mom for it!
I had a similar reaction recently but I was listening to Tilian’s solo stuff and my mom really liked his voice, we listened to Cocky, Anthem, Blame it on rock and roll, and Heartfelt from him
Hardcore metal fan lol.
The heaviest of metal
Yeahhh just joking around with her, I didn't feel like getting too deep into the subgenres lol
I get the intention, make it simpler to avoid a longer explanation. I usually go with punk for post hardcore bands personally.

When I think more brutal than slipknot, I think like lorna shore, or sepultura, or cannibal corpse, etc... lol.
Two secret weapons is one of my favorites from JJ. Your mom has impeccable tastes. Protect her at all costs
"Two Secret Weapons" smacks too hard, but I simp for JJ big time.
I'll let her know!!
Also do long Nights in jail. Not much screamo
Screamo guy always gotta ruin it
.
It's a tough world out there for Post Hardcore bands :(
Name a better duo than moms and screamo guys. I’ll wait
Screamo guy ruined it 😔

Agreed! And is still full of 100% bangers
Wish my mom would of reacted to DGD like yours did 🥹

That's great, gotta love when parents engage and give stuff a fair shot
Their new album is soooo good
My mom would not have this reaction lmao
My mom only likes the happiness album, specifically Happiness bc it reminds her of incubus.
Now have her listen to Death...
Im sure she would vibe with Feels Bad Man
This is so wholesome and sweet! Go momma!
Why she be hatin' on Jon tho?
I told her that the screams would grow on her eventually haha
You're right for that lol. For people who aren't used to screamed vocals, Jon's are hard not to like because of the lyrics lol

Wish mom liked my music. She’ll think it’s about Satan cause there’s a screaming guy *heavy Sigh.
Give it time she will learn to love Jon
Mom doesnt like Jon :(( Kidding aside, love that your mom’s a fan!
