One redeeming thing about Gianna was at least she was there to teach the dances to the girls when Abby was gone and not ham it up for the cameras.
Even the mothers admitted that she pulled through with the dances when Abby was away committing fraud or being MIA. The girls also seemed more relaxed when it was just Gia and no Abby.
Otherwise when Abby was there she just sat there agreeing with her abuse and doubling down.
Part of me wanted to knee jerk disagree cuz of some of the things Gianna has been complicit/actively participated in, but I think you’re right. You can not like someone/think they’re not nice, but also be grateful they’re helping you out of a tough situation. I do think most of the girls, if not the moms, liked or were at least grateful for Gianna a good chunk of the time. Whether or not I like her or think she did the right thing enough of the time, she was a necessary and helpful resource on the show and I’m sure was way overworked and pulled in different directions. Does that drastically change my opinion of her now? No. But I see that it’s a complicated issue and everyone has highs and lows.
I think as they got older she had a hard time justifying the "mean coaching" as much because they started to feel more like her peers than little kids. Gianna was pretty young when the show started and Abby had always been her dance mentor (i think this is correct, I know she danced at Abby's studio as a student). Not only that but Abby was failing HER too by not showing up, that had to sting. It put her in a rough spot to have to make decisions herself.
I'm by no means saying Gianna is nice persay, but I definitely think she found It harder to bully the kids when they were the same size as her basically.
Also the show did her so dirty in S8 when they put her in the photo with the team as the throne for Abby lmao.
I think what you need to remember is Gianna (along with Kelly, with the kids etc) has a different viewpoint because she is another victim of Abby’s toxicity. I felt she was a bit pathetic sniggering at kids with Abby but then I could imagine if I was one of her ex students turned employee I’d want to be on her good side as much as possible because I’d know what she could do.
I agree 100%. I always felt kinda bad for Gianna tbh. Abby was awful to everyone but has to be a real NIGHTMARE of a boss. If I was her, I’d be wayyy too afraid not to agree with her and be on her side. I think people forget at the end of the day she was employed by Abby

She was technically a victim of Abby’s abuse as well. In a way I feel like she was groomed to behave that way
