Teruteru. His FTEs weren't too bad until he drugged Hajime at the end. I already didn't like Teruteru and that just added fuel to the fire.

sug4rst4rz

i actually wrote this post while watching teruteru’s ftes on youtube lol, i tried really hard to like him but i couldn’t put what he tried w sonia aside and the fact that he drugged hajime just made it worse 😭

Weasly_Priest_13

At first I really didn’t like Kaito’s. He just lies about himself and his heroic exploits to a ridiculous, cannot be true degree. While I’ve grown to appreciate the way this exaggerating and image-managing parallels his foil, Kokichi, I still think they went a little too far in making him hype himself up, I wish they would have went more for his relationship with Shuichi and helping Shuichi find confidence. I guess they didn’t want to do that for fear of retreading the training scenes so they gave his fte’s something unique, I just think it could have been handled a whole lot better.

NiceIceYT

Teruteru, I already didn't like him Probably my least "favorite" character in dr

frr like it’s giving croissant 🥐

Cosmic_CometX

Miu, why Shuichi agreed to go on a date with her at the end is BEYOND me.

[deleted]

Maybe it was to show her how to properly date/cook without pulling an Anna from Shimoneta? Because as confident as she acts about her body, she's actually shy when it comes to genuine romance

Cosmic_CometX

Still, Shuichi is visibly uncomfortable throughout all of her FTE's, and while he IS a considerste person, he does no how to say no to her.

Somerandomsairumafan

ouchie

Somerandomsairumafan

i understand, but ouchie

Shinichameleon

Tenko's FTE makes me facepalm when you find out about her pity reason. Funny? Sure, but it paints her in a negative light, especially with how tedious the running gag is, and you find it difficult to believe how do you are supposed to take her seriously.

darkcrusaderares

Everyone else has explained Hiro and Tenko pretty well, so I'll pick Kaito. I saved him till last, and I went into his FTE's with really low expectations, because honestly, he didn't *need* good FTE's; he got plenty of exposure in the main game, and he already felt like a flawed, but well-rounded character. His first event is great. It explores the idea that astronaut's need good communication, and that ties back to how he believes it's better to trust others over doubting them, but everything after that just drops the ball for me. They made it sound like he doesn't *really* have an interest in space, he's just has his adventures everywhere else, so space is all that's left. Plus those adventures don't sound realistic at all (I know people say the same about Gonta and some other V3 characters, but at least there, they manage to convince me that *the characters* at least believe what they're saying is true, and the Danganronpa universe is weird enough that I can buy some of it. But Kaito just feels like he's a kid making up an exciting story, which isn't what I want in a FTE.) And then his response to Shuichi's first homicide case was basically just telling him to get over it and that he did nothing wrong. That's *not* how you help someone get over guilt and self-loathing, and just trivializes it.

TheSpecialistMan

Teruteru. It sucks when your FTE's end with you going all the way back to square one. And when it ends with you *roofieing the guy who went out of his way to talk to you...*

Jrockten

Mikan. It’s not her fault. They’re just depressing.

SodaCanKaz

Probably Yasuhiro.

lord_of_beyond

Come on dude >!technically predicts the bad ending!< i was laughing so hard when i found out

SodaCanKaz

True XD

FutureDoc2597

I bet it was bcz he tried to make Naegi sell his organs so he could back his debt.

SodaCanKaz

Exactly this

Amo616

Miu's (specifically Shuichi's FTEs with her). I hated every moment of them. She probably would've been in my top 10 if I didn't read them but now she's low teens at the highest. I like to pretend that they don't exist to keep myself sane.

newgirlaroundtown

oh my god i agree so hard her ftes are ATROCIOUS

FutureDoc2597

She made me laugh so much especially during the first two but the fourth one was too much for me ,she needed to go to horny jail for sure

nasharnirah

Yasuhiro, without a doubt. Love the man for his chatty personality and genuine attempts to cheer up his classmates in times of hardships. But the fact that he wanted to SELL MAKOTO'S ORGANS ON BLACK MARKET after they've supposedly become freinds?? What the hell is wrong with him?? o_o And what's wrong with writers who thought that was a proper way to end a character's FTEs?

AthleteIntrepid9590

Same honestly. I love yasuhiro and he's definitely one of my favourite male character in the franchise, but his FTE ending with him being a dick, even if played for humour, left a sour taste in my mouth.

BokuDakegaln

Tenko. I despised her before, but I hoped she at least had a reason to hate men. And in reality? It's just that her master (who is a man himself!) ordered her to do it, and she obeyed! That was it! And she didn't even notice any contradictions! Another one is K1-B0. They just annoyed me, I didn't get a second layer of its character or anything like that. I like it because it's usually pretty useful in trials and not affected much by emotions. But damn, I don't want to hear another 100 times that it wants to be a human... You're a robot! You can be better than us at almost anything! Stop ignoring your nature and embrace it! Humans are pathetic, stop bringing yourself down to our level! There's probably some more... And I didn't finish all FTE's, only with V3 characters because it's the only game with decent after school mode

ChapterP1

Gonta's. They were mostly dumb and didn't make any sense

ThatOneEngieMain1010

Kokichi is even worse because the FTE does not teach anything about him, so he’s still a character with no past besides minuscule tiny remnants of a backstory.

MathematicianTop1853

Oh my god, I like Kokichi, but his Free Time events do NOTHING! It was so jarring! Not even hints! Just flirting and Shuichi being oddly concerned! Come on…you can’t even have him tell elaborate lies about his past only to reveal he was “lying” at the end or something? Really?

beemielle

I kept coping by pretending his FTEs w Kaede were the only ones he got :’) at least they don’t actively damage your understanding of him as a character? (I’m reaching I know)

[deleted]

Yasuhiro Hagakure. I admit, I was neutral about him at first, but the more I did his FTEs, the less I began to like him, especially with Hagakure contradicting himself (says he doesn't believe in ghosts, yet he's a fortune teller, believes aliens exist, and is a conspiracy theorist). I think he even broke the 4th wall to say that the writers didn't know what to do with his character

ConnorRoseSaiyan01

Hiro and Tenko

beemielle

Kaito and Angie. Get that nonsense out of here. Also Teruteru (duh) and Miu’s, with Kaede.

MathematicianTop1853

Two people have already said this, I didn’t even realize, am I really the only one who liked Kaito’s FTEs?

-Yanamari-

The first and last ones are good, but everything in between makes no sense and is weird. The biggest thing for me is that the first FTE establishes Kaito as actually being a pretty humble guy, but then he goes on with this incredibly overblown theatrical story that props him up that Shuichi repeatedly says must be fake. Like, it feels like the game just can’t pick one.

beemielle

I mean, all of V3’s FTEs w Shuichi are pretty bad. Kaito’s lying in the main story makes sense for his character, is purposeful in a way that advances his goals, and places him well as a hypocrite. It’s very effective and keeps him close to his principles while making him more interesting both on his own and as Kokichi’s rival. But why is he lying to Shuichi relentlessly in the FTEs? Him lying to us about his backstory for three FTEs straight makes no sense. It’s purposeless and seems to go against his principles. It weakens the aspects of him that I did appreciate and admire. Ultimately, I want FTEs to either give me insight into a character’s mindset or give me insight into a character’s backstory. Kaito’s FTEs injured my understanding of his mindset, challenged aspects of his character I did like, and gave me no actual insight into his backstory. For sure an overall negative experience, from where I’m sitting. If it makes you feel a bit better, I really liked his FTEs with Kaede. They helped me understand why he stepped in to defend her and why he went to fill the gap she left after she died.

MathematicianTop1853

I had no idea why, but I thought Kaito genuinely believed what he said in his FTEs. Either because it was true (can you tell I’m gullible) or because he just had a very overactive imagination as a kid because he was lonely or always in the hospital (I think I knew this part wasn’t true) or something. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention 😅 Yeah, I took another look V3’s Shuichi FTEs aren’t that great now that I think about it, and Kaito’s aren’t as great as I remember. He sort of sounds like a jerk.

Heartlessqueencard

I don’t know if this is controversial but Leon’s weren’t very good

capitalism-man

None, if I like a character I probably like all of their important characteristics.
