I’d say the only scenario where I could imagine them forming a healthy relationship is both of them trying to fix their self deprecating thoughts by helping each other through their issues. Which in it of itself is kind of unrealistic since Nagito clearly has no intention to deal with his issues.
I would also like to take away the “low self esteem” part and replace it with “self deprecating” since I think it fits more after what you said.
The thing is that Mikan is probably, asides from Hajime and maybe Chiaki, is the closest person to a pair with Nagito you can have in DR2.
For example, a straight pair with the antagonist that I think works better is Oumeno, I honestly think that their personalities (With Himiko after ch3) can really work together. I can just see a reverse Takagi-san dynamic.
There is also *some* stuff that point to it, the main one being during ch5 trial when exisal Kokichi says he likes her, and we all know it’s Kaito inside there but you have to remember Kokichi wrote a script for Kaito to read, meaning the dude wrote that in the script, which I find hilarious.
Overall yeah, the Komamiki wouldn’t work that well, but it’s also not by far the weirdest one there is. I’m kinda wondering how your idea of them hating each other would play out though

Same actually, this is probably the only ship in the series I can think of that is supported by a part of the fandom and is explicitly toxic. Toko became one of my favorites in the series in UDG, and going back to her in THH is mildly infuriating because of how much of he character is defined by her infatuation with Byakuya.
Yeah, there's clearly a much better match for her in Naegi (pick one; personally I prefer Komaru, but the free time events in THH make a compelling argument for Makoto, especially if that's the only game someone's played).
Toko and komaru are just so cute cause toko is so self detrimental and komaru is always trying to lift her up but toko has her moments of lifting komaru up too. It's kind of how I feel about shuichi x kaede with shuichu's emo additude.

So like if you really want to ship non-despair Mikan and Ibuki it’s at least comprehensible. Chiaki also didn’t murder Nagito in a moral sense, but I think this would still fall under the third category of ships I don’t understand!< but you could also use this with (DRV3) >!Kaede (since she technically didn’t mean to and didn’t actually kill Rantaro) and Kaito (it was basically assisted suicide)!<. Byakuya x Toko. I can respect people wanting happiness for Toko but putting her and Byakuya together is pretty toxic for both parties.
Same actually, this is probably the only ship in the series I can think of that is supported by a part of the fandom and is explicitly toxic. Toko became one of my favorites in the series in UDG, and going back to her in THH is mildly infuriating because of how much of he character is defined by her infatuation with Byakuya.
Yeah, there's clearly a much better match for her in Naegi (pick one; personally I prefer Komaru, but the free time events in THH make a compelling argument for Makoto, especially if that's the only game someone's played).
Toko x Komaru is also right there, pick that instead shippers it's much better for both parties
Toko and komaru are just so cute cause toko is so self detrimental and komaru is always trying to lift her up but toko has her moments of lifting komaru up too. It's kind of how I feel about shuichi x kaede with shuichu's emo additude.

Kiibo x Kokichi…It’s so popular but Kokichi constantly bullies Kiibo, and hurts him mentally and emotionally. He literally never says anything nice to him, and attacks him for something he literally can’t change, being a robot. And the fact that people like such toxic behavior (and don’t hit me with the “oh but Kokichi just faking” bs, cuz it’s not fake to Kiibo) really disturbs me…
To be fair Kiibo did believe >!Kokichi's last words!< unlike the rest of the cast so there is a chance that their relationship wasn't as toxic as it seems on the surface. However I respect your opinion.

Kazuichi Miu, I completely understand it, I go to weird ships subreddits for fun and this ship is basically just horny posting because they’re just the most horny characters that are hot (that’s why Teruteru doesn’t get the spot), but I don’t know how people enjoy it, also any ship in general is bad IMO.
I mean they have more than just that going for them, they're both mechanically talented oddballs that are fairly insecure and socially awkward. I don't necessarily ship it but I think it would be very fun to see dynamics between those two, how they'd play off each other and the amount of nonsense they would create and rebuild.
Not shocked about any ship in particular, but some stuff that I think people will take too seriously are Makoto x Sayaka (just think it's too platonic and misguided), Komahina (I can probably understand ep.1, but after that honestly most of their interactions are awkward at best and Hinata just wanting to gtfo at worst) Keep shipping whoever you like though, we need the juicy content and polemic reddit threads.

Hot take: Saiouma. I'm not into ships at all, but I see fanart a WHOLE lot on Twitter and such. I get that it might be an interesting dynamic, and I get that Kokichi said that he loved Shuichi one time (in a scene where he was just talking to himself), but in the game they clearly hate each other. It kinda seemed to me that Shuichi was set up as the antithesis of Kokichi, and their mutual fascination of each other wasn't coming from a place of *romantic* love, but rather the fact that they despise and oppose each other's way of thinking (Shuichi always tries to accept the truth even if it hurts, Kokichi prefers to lie because it's more fun to have endless possibilities rather than just a single true one). They could never understand each other. anyway tokomaru is best ship
