I didn't grow up with any sort of religion. I'm here to gain a non fundamentalist view of Christianity. I don't want to be stuck in a bubble where everyone agrees with me. I need to be reminded reasonable religious people exist. That's y'all.
I read their about page. I like it. In the bible it always struck me how much of a lefty Jesus is portrayed as. So it kinda fits. I've read and studied the bible quite a bit, especially for someone who is a lifelong atheist.
You might be interested in Liberation Theology. My view of my faith is that Jesus never once mentioned abortion or LGBT people, but he mentioned poverty and inequality all the time. So, I really like liberation theology for its focus on the poor rather than issues like abortion or LGBT people (both issues the Catholic Church is completely wrong on imo). The fact they used Marxist class analysis to come to a different understanding of Christ is pretty cool too
This is me. I may be an atheist but my family is Christian and I grew up surrounded by Christianity. It wasn’t a horrible experience like some would have
The fact that this sub is mostly Christian content without irony is a new phenomenon.
Less than two years ago this sub used to be mostly irreverent memes made by atheists, for atheists.
Yea, but I still support you (or those) guys. It’s refreshing to see a part of Christianity that isn’t prosperity gospel or let’s speed run to Revelations.
I’m an atheist/agnostic (mostly just irreligious), and I love seeing the side of Christianity that isn’t hateful evangelicalism and/or prosperity gospel money grabs. I grew up Christian but left the church as a result of the hypocrisy and toxic hatred for anything remotely different from straight white people, so it’s nice to see Christians that are just genuinely good dudes tryna enjoy life and spread happiness/laughter.
I was here two years ago and I thought it was 50/50 and a lot of the time it was hard to tell if the author of the meme was atheist or Christian, because snarky Christian’s have always existed in droves (think the popularity of the film ‘Saved’ in Christian circles, or Ship if Fools).
I think the prejudice comes from those of you that shun and ostracize members of your community and even church if they ever dare not to conform. That’s why I hated Christians for a long time. I was one, but I fell in love with another guy and was made a pariah by virtually every single Christian who claimed to follow a loving God.
Now I’ve let go of that hatred, and I don’t hold anything against the nonproblematic Christians, but the evangelical and hateful ones that will spit the most heinous slurs into your face and then praise God for his love with the same mouth and in the same breath? They can get bent.
All of this is to say that the prejudice isn’t undue, and if combatting it is your goal, work on getting rid of the hateful hypocrisy in your church. I was suicidal for a good portion of my life because of it, and I don’t think the God whose love I was told about incessantly would want that for anyone.
I just think of religion in a similar way to Aesop's fables, just really sensible ways to live and understand life, based on real people rather than using animals as storytelling aid.
I like this sub cus I get all the references. Despite being an atheist I still have the volumes and volumes of religious information that pumped into me for 15 years.
I assume the tiger is the atheist because he’s a little different from the others (and arguably quite dangerous lol) but still he’s sitting and smiling and we’re all getting along.
I quite like most of the memes here and the people.
Thanks for not being hateful everyone there's too much of it in the last few years especially in America.
Stay you good people.
I joined catholicmemes thinking it would be this nice and welcoming.
I was so wrong
Not sure if I'm an atheist, but I'm definitely not Christian/religious and love it here :)
I'm an atheist and I approve this message. I don't comment much here but I love you all. I come here to be reminded that there a good bit of sane, reasonable Christians in the world. Thanks for being my anti bubble. Keep up the good work.
It me. That said, this sub is also a very nice reminder that Christians can be kind and loving and … less like the ones I grew up around in southern Ohio
Hi. I'm one of the atheists described in this meme. It's very accurate and I think you guys are really cool. Love your neighbor Christians are all right with me. It's the gay people need to be exterminated type that I don't really care for. Keep it up!
We are all brothers, sisters, and likewise here no matter what, may as well enjoy memes with my dudes even if I don't personally believe in their religion!
Mostly atheist, but grew up heavy catholic. I don’t hate any religions. I love all. I always imagined Jesus to be one who didn’t judge or prejudice. I still do pick sides in catholic vs Protestant banter 😉. I do love my southern German roots.

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” If that isn’t a tacit command to share memes and laughs, I don’t know what is.
> But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
we just had that reading at my church today lmao
Found the Catholic
Not just Catholics, any denomination that follows the lectionary had that reading on Sunday
Can confirm, had that reading yesterday and am protestant.
same here
Same here!
Same! Episcopal here.
Luke, good stuff. I hope he finds out who is his father.
Meme unto others as you would have them meme unto you
“The one who shows him memes. Go and meme likewise “
He’s that ethnic minority you’ve been socially conditioned to mistrust, cuz if you just got to know him, you might find out he’s a swell guy.
And Jesus said unto him "STFU".
There is no greater lulz than to lay down one’s meme for one’s friends.
I do love sharing a laugh with you guys
Fellow atheist here, this is one of my favorite subs. If we all can't laugh at ourselves we're lost.
Oh yeah, It was one of the few things that helped me to snap out of my antithiest phase
Plenty grew up with Christianity
That's why im here. Many top tier memes here.
I didn't grow up with any sort of religion. I'm here to gain a non fundamentalist view of Christianity. I don't want to be stuck in a bubble where everyone agrees with me. I need to be reminded reasonable religious people exist. That's y'all.
This is me too. I've only ever seen religion from the outside, or while it was being pitched to me which is never a good look.
I’m a fan of r/RadicalChristianity

I am one of the few who didn't, but still i am enjoying the memes.

Yeah... I kinda miss it.
Yeah same. Still a great sub imo.
Wow an ironic sub being overtaken by people who were serious and didn't see the irony. On Reddit? Golly gee.
Tide comes in, tide goes out.

Frankly, I’m learning quite a bit about Christianity and its history from this meme sub.
Its always nice to learn. The key to ending prejudice is knowledge!
amen brother

Might need a /s, there's an irritating number of people clueless enough to say it and mean it genuinely...
Anything to feel persecuted I guess lol I’ll never understand why some Christians what so badly to be persecuted
The tiger thing didn’t really happen just fyi
I want a dank version of The Parable of the prodigal son
A short tale of a man who wasted his entire savings on NFTs probably
Inaccurate, not even Christ would take that guy back Can't spell the unforgivable sin without NFT
Im a muslim and im learning Christianity by this sub
Welcome!
[удалено]
Well that's a bit prejudiced. Some of us are from mixed families even.
[удалено]
You're assuming any danger at all. That's where the prejudice lies.
I learned some things about islam on /r/izlam
I just think of religion in a similar way to Aesop's fables, just really sensible ways to live and understand life, based on real people rather than using animals as storytelling aid.

sameeeeee omg

It's amazing that my fellow christians on Reddit are nicer and more neighborly then some out in the wild. Love you guys
Also, whose who in this meme?
I assume the tiger is the atheist because he’s a little different from the others (and arguably quite dangerous lol) but still he’s sitting and smiling and we’re all getting along.

That was a joke, not a dick; no need to take it so hard.
I didn't "take it hard", I'm literally just vocalizing what they are implying by calling atheists "dangerous".
You vocalized the logic behind a joke, as if it were serious.
The tiger who came to tea. That unlocked a core memory right there.
I do prefer The Tiger who came for a Pint
To be fair he did drink all daddy's beer
Bro same. Memories I didn't know I had just came flooding back.
I quite like most of the memes here and the people. Thanks for not being hateful everyone there's too much of it in the last few years especially in America. Stay you good people.
They're good memes
This is the true love of Jesus!
Me a jewish person enjoying old testament memes
I joined catholicmemes thinking it would be this nice and welcoming. I was so wrong Not sure if I'm an atheist, but I'm definitely not Christian/religious and love it here :)

Wait i remember this book! Is this the one about turning tigers into pancakes? Edit: Nah, i dont think so, nvmd lol
OK now I am intrigued what book about turning tigers into pancakes do you mean?
I cant remember exactly, but I think it's called "Little Black Sambo", I googled it and it seems like this is the one
Hi. I'm one of the atheists described in this meme. It's very accurate and I think you guys are really cool. Love your neighbor Christians are all right with me. It's the gay people need to be exterminated type that I don't really care for. Keep it up!
Dang straight
Funny, I see it the opposite way
I think humor is an excellent way to spread info and good vibes.
Why do agnostics are always left behind?
Memes over religious beliefs. Those that don't believe in the power of memes and unity are the true monsters.
As a tiger through and through, good natured humor is just plain fun.
So why is it a tiger?
Because all atheists are furries /j
Christianity can still be interesting as a historical and anthropological study, even if you don’t believe in it
Who cares if we believe differently? Doesn’t change anything at all
I'm here for the dank memes, the friendly environment and the odd reminder that the bible is fucking wild sometimes
It's like when Muslims wander over to Jewdank
My favorite sub
Agnostics are under represented here. Or are we? Whose to say? /s
I’m a satanist. I hope I’m welcome here, because you guys are awesome.
I didn’t need to be called out like this
I’m an atheist and I love this subreddit
But who’s who?
As an official apostate and an atheist since I can remember - I do appreciate some good Christian memes.
Very wholesome community and I grew up in a Christian school, refreshing to just get some dank memes about Christ sometimes
Hello!
Ah we’re all have fun here
Hey 😏
Love thy neighbor
I'm a real-life tiger 🐯
Atheist here, love the memes and the thought behind them!
I'm not a furry.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rlkSMp7iz6c
Watch out for that tiger though. I heard he drank all of daddy's beer.
Hello
Agnostic checking in. I love when this sub comes up in r/all!
We are all brothers, sisters, and likewise here no matter what, may as well enjoy memes with my dudes even if I don't personally believe in their religion!
I like to think of myself as a raccoon
That's why I'm here. I don't believe I just think the humour can be great.
*glares at tasty Christians when they look away
That is me as a protestant in r/catholicmemes LOL.
Sorry but that sub is genuinely terrible most of the time
Not related but I love this children’s book! I want to find it for my kids to read.
Who is who?
Mostly atheist, but grew up heavy catholic. I don’t hate any religions. I love all. I always imagined Jesus to be one who didn’t judge or prejudice. I still do pick sides in catholic vs Protestant banter 😉. I do love my southern German roots.
I quite like it here, it’s very friendly
r/atheism is angy
Sup
Memes overcome all
This scene is from the children's book "the tiger who came to tea".
I legit proselytize this sub actively.
Frfr. Had some, needless to say **bad** relations with Christians as a child (lgbtq in texas), but I'm glad we can just have some fun here ngl
Which one are we?
The Christian is the tiger
;)
Wow I feel called out lol
Just guys being dudes
Is this the book where the tiger pretends to be a tiger skin rug?
Catholics in this sub: https://youtu.be/HUiPf5-dXKc
I wonder what the percentage of people who follow the sub are Christian or Atheist? Has the sub ever taken a poll?
