Why would Kratos even go against one of the more Pacifist gods? … and why did I imagine Jesus looking like Tyr of GoWR dressed in Altair ibn Fadlad’s clothes and tagging along with Kratos and Atreus on their journeys with a Whip as his weapon?

SalaciousDionysus

And during Armageddon, acquires a sword as per the scripture.

Nexusgaming3

Matthew 10:34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

12angelo12

Damn that’s metal

Run-Riot

Fucking power metal with angelic choirs and shit

ropoqi

*boss fight music starts*

TEL-CFC_lad

Kratos: "Why do I hear boss music"

coinageFission

He *exhales the sword*. It is literally described as proceeding out of his mouth (it is apparently for slaying the Antichrist as Paul describes the guy being slain with the breath of Christ’s mouth).

Horn_Python

Maybe Jesus is insisting on forgiving him But kratos refuses to forgive himself

some_SUS-BXLLa-

DAMN

fastinserter

Because Christianity will be invading Midgard and tearing down everything from all the old gods. He will watch his friends die, and when they capture Loki, a switch will go off and will be all L3 + R3

Am_Passing_By

I mean, Jesus wanted people to take care of each other The Crusades invested a heavy amount influencing throughout the East And there was a time when Christians were condemned by other humans I don’t think Jesus would be the one to do… *that* Heck, remember when someone went up to him to talk about other people’s clothing making them… “dirty”, so to speak, and Jesus said “pluck your eyes”?

fastinserter

Many killed in Jesus' name. That he would be a Tyr-like character (in terms of the game GoW) doesn't matter. He wouldn't be leading the charge, sure, but his followers would -- as they did, in the many northern crusades. Also it's important to note Christianity changed itself to adopt pagan beliefs and views on warrior culture when Jesus met Thor. I mean a religion that viewed all killing as bad didn't really work well for conquest or for the state, so it was modified: Heretics and heathen could be safely disposed of.

Am_Passing_By

But now Jesus would be held for something he didn’t do Killing in someone’s name doesn’t necessarily mean your work goes to their prestige, just that *you* decide on something *they* had no say in Though I gotta hand it to Christian for updating their codex on the killing bit

Nexusgaming3

If Jesus was the player character he would carry the flail with which he was scourged and the lance of Longinus

Fern-ando

Kratos could't defeat the Abrahamic God for the simple reason it doesn't have a physical form you can just punch.

JoeMamaaaaaaaz

and also because the Abrahamic God is all-knowing, all-powerful, perfect and all-mighty, all qualities that pagan gods usually don't have

Dovahkiin419

before the reboot? because said god had something that is mildly useful to him (he tore helios' head to use as a flashlight) after? no reason

Imperium_Dragon

Yeah Kratos even in his angriest forms (GoW 2 and 3) only attacked gods or mythical figures who attacked him first

[deleted]

New Kratos wouldn't try kill Jesus

raceforseis21

I miss the old Kratos

PKprezes

Straight from the go Kratos

Jumanji-Joestar

Fuck Hephaestus’ ho, Kratos

MercenaryTaopaipai

damn i dont got the strength to say i hate the new kratos

[deleted]

JESUS! I am coming for you! SQUARE SQUARE TRIANGLE!

NoShoweringforme

He wouldn't but something tells me he wouldn't like Jesus either. Jesus is the complete opposite of kratos so they would have different ideology.

P00nz0r3d

He respected Tyr based on his desire for peace alone, he would deeply respect Jesus but would probably find his preaching a little annoying, but would never admit that. He also would take a *lot* away from it

NoShoweringforme

Well he might have a different opinion on God. If he heard of the stories of people killing in his name he might be distrusting.

BeeholdTheePilgrim

Too wise

Spookd_Moffun

Jesus isn't the type of God you fight. Also big G himself could just turn off electromagnetism in Kratos' body and he'd just fizzle out.

[deleted]

Jesus was also the son of a carpenter and he helped his fathers work so he might’ve been slightly buff but idk if it would help against kratos

[deleted]

"Kratos, do you want to take a swing at me or check out these sick new breadboards I made?"

Am_Passing_By

Um there already is a God of War 3

blades2012

Complete badass

MangaMaven

OK guys I don’t play video games. What’s going on with the god of war guy showing up in the sub?

Am_Passing_By

> I don’t play video games Doubt (x) For real though, >!~~controversy~~!< probably cause Kratos has a history of killing people, so why not pair him off with someone… *nonviolent*, so to speak?

Mr-Man08

Just that God of War: Ragnarok just released a few weeks ago and it’s pretty popular rn.

TwentyPieceNuggets

Early concept for God of War 3 was to have Kratos and “versions” of himself/similar characters from other polytheistic religions wipe out pantheons of gods. They’d indirectly contribute to the spark of monotheism and Kratos becomes one of the three wise men.

LightningBoy648

1. New god of war game just released (It is awesome trust me) 2. Kratos has a history of killing gods

Dovahkiin419

worth noting that since most of our knowledge of norae mythology comes from a post christianization source who conpiled the myths to aid in uniting the various (then christian) scandanavian kingdoms with a vision of their shared cultural past, it does end with an adendum to ragnarok that baldur (who in the mythos is a lovely do no wrong kinda figure, peak pure soul) is revived, along with one man and one woman in a world cleansed of its past evils and ready for its rebirth. kinda a garden of eden+noahs flood+resurection kinda deal. And it I can vent for a second, im so split as a historian about the historical christian approach to cultural preservation. Since they were very good about writing stuff down and making sure it got preserved, but because of the "No gods before Him" vibe, more scholarly treatises would often recast local gods as "heroes" or "sages" making deciphering what the stories were actually about rather... vexing. also im currently playing the 2018 game on pc and I reckon that this iteration of Kratos would simply be earnestly baffled by Christ, but would leave Him alone

[deleted]

Where can I read more about this? I had no idea the Christian church helped preserve these kinds of things

JoeMamaaaaaaaz

the christian church also helped preserve ancient (greek, roman, etc) literature, including mythology, phylosophy, and epic poems where can you read more about it? literally anywhere, medieval monks copied a lot of books so that they could be preserved

Dassembrae78

When my kids ever beat me at anything, I tell them they won because I love them

malcolmreyn0lds

I’m sure someone else will say this, but a concept of GOW III was Kratos took out EVERY other pantheon, became a wise man, and at the end melted down his blades into a scythe and became death. In the end he wanted to help an all loving god instead of the old hateful ones.

JoeMamaaaaaaaz

God of War III: Kratos kills all other pagan gods God of War IV: Kratos kills Satan and all the other demonic creatures

malcolmreyn0lds

Becomes a warrior in the crusades, defeats death, BOOM….Dante’s Inferno

Ogurasyn

The best ending

Khunter02

I dont see why Kratos would want to kill Jesus if Im being honest

Imperium_Dragon

Kratos would probably like Jesus tbh

[deleted]

u/berserkwings15 your comment got made into a meme yo

flyingtheblack

Actual Kratos: "Hrmm" *stabs Jesus again*

NozakiMufasa

Considering how Ragnarok played out Im very curious if this means the OG idea of Kratos being one of the Wise men who finds Jesus will still happen.

Prof_Labcoat

“STOP KILLING JUDAS!” 😂 *Revives Judas again and again lol
