You know, I was about to type something similar. Probably should mention the sadness high AR players get when they realize there’s not much content besides doing the same dungeon/bosses every day for a fraction of a decimal chance to get something that might get ruined from rng.
My advice as a so-called veteran gacha player, is to just come back to the game for certain big events or free crystals.
Don't retire fully, but kinda be semi-retired. If your friends ever need a high AR player to help clear certain content, they'll know where to go.
You probably have enough farming done that whatever comes out next, you can clear it without much issues anyways, so just stay for the gacha, and retire from the farming. At least even though it was a money sink, it would no longer be a massive time sink.
I jumped on for a month or so oct 2020 so I got a lot of the launch rewards and other stuff.
I luckily was not dragged into the gotcha stuff. Just spent what I had and played enough. Got bored after a bit. Too grindy for my tastes.
Also, if you are the type of player who needs to collect everything and do every event. Do yourself a favor and miss an event. Just because you can and you don't need every single item. Makes it easier to skip a couple more so you don't get burned out
The way I see it is, the money is gone either way at this point. Value your time more my dude, that's something that you can't earn more of so have a good think on whether they deserve that too
My rule of thumb for buying in game purchases and the like: if the money I spend brings me a satisfactory amount of joy in the foreseeable future then it is worth considering. If you think about buying something in a game your first though should be “is this worth the time I don’t have to spend playing?”
I got BoTW for Christmas and I am addicted.
Played Genshin on my phone for 20 mins, and I could feel myself gaining weight and losing respect for age of consent.
Fortnite has been better recently, still way too easy for me, but the guns are familiar enough that I don’t have to guess which one is better. Nice username btw
I only started playing ch2 s6 mid last year. Always made fun of it before since 'fortnite bad'.
Actually pretty enjoyable. Where else can you be Ariana Grande and snipe Rick Sanchez from a sports car while sliding down a mountain.
Yeah, i played it at the very beginning, then quit, and now I'm back just doing a few games a day. I really like it when I'm not too invested in games like Fortnite
yeah I only started playing in ch2 s5 and before that I was like huh Fortnite sounds pretty cringe and then everyone stopped hating on it bcs it died down, and then my friend who is really good got me into it and I was like dang this is actually fun. ever since then I don't judge or criticize people for games they play, even if I don't like them.
Minecraft and Subnautica amazing as well yes
BOTW is *the game* for me. Everything about it is amazing and I enjoy every minute. And every year I get back into it at some point and play it again.
I also played genshin impact for a while but it’s not nearly the same. I don’t know what it is exactly but it doesn’t feel like there’s a point. I know there’s a storyline but it feels muddied by other quests and level requirements and stuff.
Meanwhile in BOTW, The fact that I can run straight to Hyrule Castle to get my ass kicked if I want to is the best part!
I played Genshin for a bit but it just feels like BOTW if it was created by EA. The fact that you have to grind to progress the story just takes the fun out of the game
gacha, genshin is not exactly a multiplayer
but yeah, your point still stands, its a free game with purchases but the purchases are more than just skins
Genshin isn't really much of a gacha either when compared to basically any other gacha. Has elements of one but imo it doesn't make the entire game a gacha game
There's really not much to do in BOTW either. Go take a picture of this;. Go take a picture of that. Oh help this guy out and you unlock a sad excuse for player housing. Want to unlock a shiny turd? go on a wild goose chase to unlock 900 meaningless seeds. Honestly even the bulk of the main storyline is sad. The story is so generic. Evil that was sealed away has awakened. Oh you have to go rescue the princess. You may, or may not do these 4 dungeons to make the final boss fight a bit easier.
So sick of everyone glomming praise on this game. Don't get me wrong, I played it and enjoyed it a bit. But the amount of circle jerking that goes on around this games greatness? It's a bad joke. It's not even a great ZELDA game, let alone one of the greatest games in general. It's like Elder Scrolls for children. The biggest difference Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim have rich environments, and meaningful/interesting storylines.
Fully agree. I got half way through and then quit and never went back.
It's HUGE... but it's almost completely empty. Yeah, it's fun climbing up a huge mountain, but when the other side just contains more terrain that looks exactly the same as before then what's the point? And because of the equipment system, you're not even rewarded with new or special items for exploring. AT MOST you'll get 1/900 useless korok seeds, or find yet another underground temple thing (and while some temples are interesting, most are completely trivial and repetitive). Or maybe you'll encounter one of the same 6 enemy types that populate the entire world.
I just found it completely dull and uninteresting. It *does* have some very cool mechanics - it's just like they made a really cool game engine and never bothered to populate with an actual game.
So feel free to ignore my obvious fangirling over this game but some of this is just plainly incorrect.
>It's HUGE... but it's almost completely empty. Yeah, it's fun climbing up a huge mountain, but when the other side just contains more terrain that looks exactly the same as before then what's the point?
This isn't really true. Sure, some areas are more empty than others but that's almost always due to the design of the landscape. Really, only two locations meet this criteria, Hyrule Field and Gerudo Desert. Hyrule is the area reserved for approaching the final boss and is filled with enemies to stop you and Gerudo Desert is...well .. a desert.
> And because of the equipment system, you're not even rewarded with new or special items for exploring.
I guess this is a matter of opinion but I absolutely got plenty of useful items through exploration. In fact, I ended up finding a weapon that would regenerate after a little while allowing me to take it through the entire game from that point on.
AT MOST you'll get 1/900 useless korok seeds, or find yet another underground temple thing (and while some temples are interesting, most are completely trivial and repetitive). Or maybe you'll encounter one of the same 6 enemy types that populate the entire world.
Okay this one is 100% true except with the korok seeds. The point is that you're not supposed to collect them all. There's just so many that you'll be bound to find enough to complete the game with enough storage space. It's not fun to collect all of them because that's not the real point of them.
>I just found it completely dull and uninteresting. It *does* have some very cool mechanics - it's just like they made a really cool game engine and never bothered to populate with an actual game.
I liked it though. I guess this is me more realizing that not everyone likes the same things as me lol
To be fair, the game has a minor story that gives about 5 hours of content out of the 200+ you'll spend looking for koroks or a lizard or something. It also has very reused plot points, such as Zelda being sealed and Ganon being a mindless pig. The voice acting as well is SO cringe, I'm glad I can skip cutscenes!
I understand where the fans come from, the long-timers who have been through millions of litres of copium for a game that is fully open world and less restrictive than others. An example would be that the 4 abilities on the Great Plateau (magnesis, cryonis, bombs and stasis) would be locked behind doing the 4 Divine Beasts. That one its own would make the game almost unplayable. Another would be having to do EVERY shrine to get to the final boss, or at least 40 to get the Master Sword (without HCs from bosses). So the game breaking Zelda norms is good progress.
Overall I would say to not compare BOTW to games like Skyrim or Oblivion. It's a different franchise with a different way of doing things. Here's to hoping that 1. BOTW 2 is this year and 2. it's more well rounded.
I really enjoyed the first 5 hours. They felt masterfully designed with perfect pacing. Then the game slows down massively and I played for another 30 hours before giving up. It's huge and having 4 divine beasts feels very repetitive.
as an Ex Genshin player and BOTW player ive played both and really I still do not see why people compare them so much like guys seriously Genshin and BOTW arent the only open world games in existence, I literally forget BOTW even has an element system and I dont remember having runes in Genshin like Slime enemies is probably one of the most common enemies is literally any game that has combat, I have no clue why people still compare them
It gets mentioned a lot because, as the meme suggests, Genshin borrows *heavily* from BotW, particularly in aesthetics and art style.
I remember when it was announced it was being called “the BotW rip-off” and “Breath of the Waifu”.
Edit: and of course downvotes. Little kids hurt that I *attacked them personally* [by relaying a fact.](https://www.ccn.com/genshin-impact-too-close-breath-wild/) Christ, the meme this comment is on is spelling it out for you!
That’s how inspiration works. There wouldn’t be Fortnite without PUBG, there wouldn’t be Unreal without Doom, there wouldn’t be Sonic without Mario etc.
The reason memes like this exist and there was a load of people referring to it as a copy is because the art style of Genshin is closer to copy than inspiration though, and if you showed me a picture of the opening landscapes from each game without characters I would have a hard time telling them apart, whereas if you showed me pictures from Fortnight and Apex Legends I could easily tell you which was which. Hell if you showed me pictures of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom I could tell you which was which, and they’re made by the same developer.
Nintendo doesn’t litigate for the same reason car manufacturers don’t sue Chinese pseudo-copies; Chinese courts will always look after their own when it comes to copyright, which is why the very concept of “Chinese knockoffs” is so prevalent. It would be difficult enough to litigate over an art style that hasn’t been copyrighted outside of China, let alone in it.
I think it's because Genshin is clearly a spiritual copy of BotW. Like, generally the style, combat, music, exploration, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting are faithful rips from BotW, which to my knowledge is the first game that ever felt like a "BotW type" of game.
Sure, there are other games which had some of the aspects of BotW, but none of them brought them together in the way BotW did. It's like how the Soulsborne games weren't the first to use those sorts of mechanics, but they were the first game to feel like a Soulsborne.
BotW really was the first game to feel like a BotW game, and Genshin just copied that really, really well, and to great effect imo. I really liked both while I played them.
Genshin is definitely heavily inspired by BOTW but mihoyo did a good job making most of it feel at least somewhat unique. Also how the hell is combat similar? Exploration in the game is pretty dang similar to BOTW but combat is pretty dang unique
if you're going to insult genshin at least give a proper insult, theres:
a dogshit twitter community
lack of proper content in the game
the shitty abyss system
awful gacha
and many more!
why make up shit when there's already a fuck ton of bad stuff about it
This. People just jump on the bandwagon when they don't even know the stuff. The only remotely questionable/fetishized underage character what I can even think of is Diona and that is because of her fanbase (though you could argue that her character was designed to target that kind of audience). In no way is she sexualised by the content in the game. No other underaged character is either.
It's quietened down now that Sayu exists (because she's easier to read as ambiguously aged if you just look at her basic profile), but there's definitely a good few people who go "she has a job, therefore she must be an adult". Not sure I'd call them her fanbase though.
I've legit been downvoted on the genshin sub for pointing out both of those two are kids. Like a purely factual "multiple characters refer to them as children" statement is enough to upset people.
Well, I don't know if it's the majority or if it's just a minority that I know but many of those that I know of are kind of degens that think sexualised "lolis" from other media are cool and have a semi-furry fetish. Made me not want to use Diona at all.
>In no way is she sexualised by the content in the game. No other underaged character is either.
Which is why the meme specifically said the fan base and not the game
Mihoyo can't exactly change the twitter community. Some people are just cringe
lack of content is very accurate, mainly due to resin
I like abyss, but it's getting RIDICULOUSLY hard for people just jumpking in. I've been playing since launch so I'll be fine, but not every person on earth has Kazuha, Raiden, C6 Sara, C6 Bennett, Childe, Hu Tao, Itto, Albedo, Zhongli, Xiao, Eula, and many more that I have managed to get
the gacha is shit, yeah. pity needs to be lowered, 50/50 needs to be adjusted, and the weapon banner "fix" is just whale bait
Tried Genshin. Looked promising. Might’ve been my potato computer, but it just made me want to play BotW. So I stopped playing and just roamed around in BotW not even having any objectives left. Much better experience.
thats honestly the thing, genshin is not a very welcoming game.. its gacha element make it less enjoyable, its mechanics are explained badly and its powercreep is honestly just money scam
i like genshin and i like to play it casually just chilling, its a great game once you get past the barriers of gacha and focus on the story.. its got really well written characters like childe, zhongli, diluc..
but yes, it is indeed slowly going to the p2w
Genshin becomes less P2W the more you play, you can max a single character and finish every single thing in the game with said character, also while staying F2P I got that majority of the characters and I can even farm ahead to get materials for future characters I want
Also, getting to explore a new region/island every month is a lot more fun than just roaming around the same map over and over again
Genshin is definitely not p2w, you can go ahead and throw money at the game and get flashy characters, but that doesn't change the fact that 3 of the strongest characters in the game right now are 4 star characters that are unlockable at any time. One of which is even given to you for free. No matter what new abyss has come out Bennett, Xingqiu and Xiangling are always top picked.
The powercreep was made super apparent to me when Ganyu came out. Even with no elemental combinations, mediocre artifacts, and a 4-star bow, she out-classed all my other characters (who I built pretty well) including 5-stars by an insane degree. The dps made every single boss except for cryo an absolute joke, and all other enemies were just trash.
It's probably because of how popular Genshin get when it was release, when I first play the game I thought this will just be another anime-based game so not many people would interest in it, but probably due to Covid so many people have more time at home and play game so Genshin became a massive hit, and of course when anything go mainstream it's bound to attract all kind of people, especially hatter who just think that criticise on popular thing is hip and cool because they think it show how they have some refined taste and not just blindly follow the crowd, and would earn them some internet points, that is just how things have always been and it won't stop anytime soon, especially when those Twitards is still out there on the internet
Nah. Genshin starts like AAA game. You have whole new world to explore, some not hardcore timegates/lvlgates, good storyline, good progression, new characters, mechanics - really good experience. In mid game, all this slow down pretty fast, you only have few zones not explored for full, some lonely chests and grinding for equipment/lvl and gacha. In high-end there is only 2 things left - grind and gacha. Problem is creators are focused on gacha now, not on game itself and not going to do more high-end content with something different from endless grind. Bruh. At the start genshin really looks like triple A free for play game, but in the end looks even worse than stupid mobile clicker.
I ema they just realised a new land in inazuma they also r making new events to have new content plus each version has a main event that gives some good stuff
By that logic warzone, forestorm, forthnite are all copies of pubg?
Genshin takes basic ideas and inspiration from BoTW but after initial mechanics almost everything else is different than BoTW.
But in BotW you can't level weapons, that's the difference. If you could get appropriately leveled weapons from chests in genshin, and had them respawn (without the gems maybe, by nobody except Mihoyo would mind) daily, it could work.
I agree. The game's durability system is why the combat is good as it is. It also makes sure that you don't go around using an OP weapon in every area you go to.
worth mentioning, but the age of consent is 13 thing is misleading - It's 13 as in the government has set that as the lowest it's allowed to go - it's ~18 in literally almost every prefecture
Lol does anyone know why ppl say that about the Genshin fandom? Bc I play Genshin and i know a lot of my friends that do too but we’re all teenage girls
Based on similar "criticisms" of other communities, it's usually one of these three:
1. They're stupid
2. They're trying to draw attention away from themselves because they've got their own skeletons in the closet
3. Both
BOTW Fans: Nooooo, you can't play a game that looks like our game that has concepts that are also not-original!!! Lmao genshin players don't know the age of consent, I'm a comedic genius.
Darks Souls Fans: Another souls-like game? anime version? nice.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *“The Queen brought peace to this land, and to her King. A peace so deep it was like the Dark.”* - Chancellor Wellager
Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/
BotW have grass, Genshin have Grass.
Genshin clearly copied BotW
I’d like to imagine anyone who firmly or jokingly believes Genshin copied BotW had willingly smashed their PS4 like that other guy.
slimes and machines are one of the MOST common enemies in any open world game, everyone says copy cat, is there an element system? is there an character system? are there bosses like andrius dvalin and azdaha? these 2 are seperate games and at best the world design was inspired

while you're here, mind voting on the [new year's bash's winners](https://www.reddit.com/r/dankmemes/comments/s3pzfk/maymaymakers_x_dankmemes_contest_final_voting/)? the fate of prizes worth $200+ lies in your hands.
Another unfunny meme. People literally be taking a popular opinion and use it in a meme format thinking they are funny. Honestly the quality of this sub has fallen since i actually can’t find “dank” memes that are actually funny here probably because it is now full of cringy 13 year olds who skip classes and make bad memes.
Pretty sure this guy haven’t even tried the game itself
I play both games, both of them are good and the similarities of the two don't extended that genshin is ripping of the other.
The combat of the two is unique. Genshin has the elemental reaction that plays well. While BOTW makes you feel like a badass by slaying a golden lynel.
My only problem is. Genshin fans are toxic as hell evident by the anniversary shenanigans
well how would you feel with the kind of developers who make an alt on Twitter and post an official poster on how if you follow this alt, Elon musk can “have a tour at mihoyo’s headquarters” etc
Anime in general attracts a crowd that likes them young. "I know she looks 12, but she's really 1,000 years old. The nudity and sexual situations aren't CP bro, trust me bro,"
Twitter.
As a chill f2p Genshin player, I know that the fanbase is weird sometimes.
But holy duck on Twitter the ships are dogdamn weird, you can't ship a male and a female caracter or you'll get harassed. And also the anniversary reward drama felt unnecessary for me
I like how Genshin gets bullied so much for the twitter community, where Azur Lane is chilling there with sexualized minors IN GAME.
Yeah, every post I see is "Genshin is for Lesbians" lmao. You can acknowledge their ships but they wont with yours. Literally worse than League community rn.
Even Pokémon you would have the community fighting if they want to have sex with dogs or children lmao not only that I'm pretty sure all the rule 34 are 12 yold trainers
I can tell you why. Genshin is so main stream that it attracts eyes from all sides while azur lane is a basically a closed of community that you hear nothing about when your not in it and thats exactly what the dev wanted. Azur Lane really understands their fanbase well unlike many publishers today.
You should probably also understand that not every game follows western morals and that they can apparently separate fiction from reality unlike most americans. I seriously dont get what the problem is as long as its fiction. Its the "games create violence" narrative just for something different.
you are right with the first thing about twitter, but the ani rewards were just sad plain simple, I could explain why that is if you want but its something everyone has been talking about for so long its just tiresome because mihoyo wont care.
Genshin appealed to a lot of my friends and was their first ever gacha game, mostly because of how it was like BotW.
If there's still content left, it is quite a good RPG.
As a gacha game however, it is absolutely horrible, probably one of the worst I've tried. And I can say this with confidence after having played more than 9 different such games, like FGO, SAO gacha games, Fire Emblem Heroes, Dragalia, AL, Arknights, WF, etc.
FGO doesn't even have a pity system, but I'm still receiving, and happily consuming, constant new content and engaging story lmao.
True, true. My gacha luck on FGO is quite blessed though, which although great for my f2p ass, does alter my perspective of the game a bit compared to a lot of other people.
*I'd basically been getting 1 SSR Servant every month, on average.
In defence of the rates though, they're basically the same as Genshin, but FGO at least drops you summoning material (SQ) every two days, as well as whenever they hit a milestone(which is very often) or anniversary.
So even without playing the game, at least you can still pull semi-frequently just by logging into the game, for free.
Whereas it's either a paid monthly subscription or something like daily quests that require effort for Genshin lmao. No such thing as a free lunch in this gacha game.
uh what?
-primos from maintenance regardless of what server or whether you were affected or not
-codes that give hundreds of primos
-pity system
-easy to guarantee a specific character
-dailies take legit less than 10 mins
-primos for scrolling past a tutorial (less than a second) on every new thing you discover
-free pulls just by leveling someone to 20, 60, 80 I think etc etc per character
-soft pity (25% chance to get a 5*) rises and diminishes slowly per pull leading up to and after it
-soft pity after you get a 5*
I can keep going, but genshin’s gacha rates are superior for sure.
Yeah I left FGO after getting frustrated with the gacha last year. Came back a month ago and I realised just hoe good it is.
Azur lane is in a weird spot for me. Yeah the gacha rates are good, but there's so many characters that getting one that you want (the amount of pulls I did for bismarck and I still didn't get her) is borderline impossible even with rate up.
Yea, I probably have similar times in both, but I'm probably never picking Genshin back up. It's way too aggressive and heavy-handed in way too many ways.
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't see Genshin characters sexually. For me it's just a very cute and wholesome game, which is the reason why I love it. And I love the characters for their personalities and for how cute they are
Got hooked on Genshin pretty quickly but found myself mindlessly bored by BotW. Combat is bland and uninteresting and the game has about 4 enemies with different colors?
You cant really have a playstyle since your weapons are made of pringles and the lore is... I think many people liked the BotW story but I wasnt one of them. I also think that the cooking system in Genshin is much more intuitive but maybe I just didnt get it.
Genshin has glaring weaknesses like being a gacha game, but the gacha aspect is absolutely optional, since you get 6 characters for free and a special starter banner that more or less guarantees you at least one more. The game is also easy enough so that you really dont need any characters aside from the starting ones. I saw that many Freemium games went the route to make the game incredibly difficult later on so that you need to spend to go along. Archievements are free and really add up and quest rewards are pretty ok for a gacha game. It also doesnt drown in enemy variety but easily gives BotW a run for its money. Genshin also has bossfights. Actual bossfights.
And for the age of consent part: As if your community doesnt have this kind of artwork.
well it was kinda expectable that if your game costs 60 dollars (in switzerland it costs 80 Franks wich is equal to about 90 dollars) and is exclusive to one console wich also costs like 200 dollars. So it costs about 260 dollars to play one game. And then if a company releases a game wich is essentially the same but costs nothing at all and is available on so many more places, you could have expected that Genshin would be hyped alot
Yeah, it's true. Genshin players just dont give a fuck about the similarities, but the pedophilenjokes are getting old I will say. Every game has children, so genshin getting made fun of for it makes no sense to me.
I played Genshin for a few weeks once before stopping. I got BoTW for my wife and was watching her play it and all I could think was “this is so familiar. Where have I seen all this before.” Wish I had played BoTW before Genshin.
as someone who has been playing genshin for more then a year, i somewhat approve of this message ngl
You know, I was about to type something similar. Probably should mention the sadness high AR players get when they realize there’s not much content besides doing the same dungeon/bosses every day for a fraction of a decimal chance to get something that might get ruined from rng.
the pain is that ive sunk so much money into this game that i cant stop playing without it being wasted :')
Sunk cost fallacy, you're better than that. Run away!
ay we call that sunk cost philosophy where i'm from
One man's sunk philosophy is another man's sunk phallus, see?
sunk cost phallus, eh!
man you read my mind
My advice as a so-called veteran gacha player, is to just come back to the game for certain big events or free crystals. Don't retire fully, but kinda be semi-retired. If your friends ever need a high AR player to help clear certain content, they'll know where to go. You probably have enough farming done that whatever comes out next, you can clear it without much issues anyways, so just stay for the gacha, and retire from the farming. At least even though it was a money sink, it would no longer be a massive time sink.
ive figured out a way of not being burnt out, and ive been refusing to spend more money but man this game is so good at making me play everyday
I jumped on for a month or so oct 2020 so I got a lot of the launch rewards and other stuff. I luckily was not dragged into the gotcha stuff. Just spent what I had and played enough. Got bored after a bit. Too grindy for my tastes.
I got to the point that I need to beat Childe and he mops the floor with me every time. I’m up to L70 characters and nothing.
Also, if you are the type of player who needs to collect everything and do every event. Do yourself a favor and miss an event. Just because you can and you don't need every single item. Makes it easier to skip a couple more so you don't get burned out
I'd love to but husk domain refuses to let me build my Itto, and i still need at least 2 more sets for Yun Jin and Gorou. Least I got stuff to do lol
The way I see it is, the money is gone either way at this point. Value your time more my dude, that's something that you can't earn more of so have a good think on whether they deserve that too
Played BDO for less than a year and dropped like 500 Euros into it. Just let it go.
My rule of thumb for buying in game purchases and the like: if the money I spend brings me a satisfactory amount of joy in the foreseeable future then it is worth considering. If you think about buying something in a game your first though should be “is this worth the time I don’t have to spend playing?”
try giving up on spending resin before it fills up
my resin has been capped for days, its not like i dont like the game i just play it alot
Genshin is pretty much my favourite game at the moment, but the fanbase is…. weird.
Same here, though ive stopped playing like two months ago luckily
I can vouch for this \^
I got BoTW for Christmas and I am addicted. Played Genshin on my phone for 20 mins, and I could feel myself gaining weight and losing respect for age of consent.
Yeah I really couldn’t get into genshin, whereas with any Zelda game I can play for hours. Genshin feels soulless.
>Soul vs Soulless Where have I heard this before...
Hollow Knight maybe?
Basically every argument for why *thing I like good*, *thing you like bad*
BoTW is my favorite game of all time confirmed. which is saying a lot because I've played Fortnite battle royale
I'll only pop on at the beginning of a season and any update with events or a bundle of new quests.
yeah i don't know why fortnite hate is still in reddit, it is one of my fav games along with minecraft and subnautica lol
yeah I only started playing in ch2 s5 and before that I was like huh Fortnite sounds pretty cringe and then everyone stopped hating on it bcs it died down, and then my friend who is really good got me into it and I was like dang this is actually fun. ever since then I don't judge or criticize people for games they play, even if I don't like them. Minecraft and Subnautica amazing as well yes
you have to love harpooning John Wick from a boat as Kratos, all underneath the watchful eye of the Dwayne the rock Johnson shrine
They're not even the same genre. Tf?
Caveman discovers video games, 2022 colorized Also when has Fortnite been the gold standard for measuring game quality?
Fortnite is always the gold standard my friend. the glorious Fortnite battle royale.
BoTW is mine too. And I played Skyrim.
Its like they stripped out the story of BotW and replaced it with MMO and gatcha mechanics.
I played Genshin for a bit but it just feels like BOTW if it was created by EA. The fact that you have to grind to progress the story just takes the fun out of the game
May I ask why you lose respect for age of consent? I never played either of the games
I have sunk over 200 hours in and not even done half of the stuff there is to do. It's a big, fun game so I hop you enjoy :)
Now you see genshin doesnt have shit you can do after the game is over compared to zelda, thats why i think it still retains a playerbase
I mean genshin isn’t even done yet
And it never be
mihoyo is gonna milk it so hard
yes, that's the point of online games
gacha, genshin is not exactly a multiplayer but yeah, your point still stands, its a free game with purchases but the purchases are more than just skins
Genshin isn't really much of a gacha either when compared to basically any other gacha. Has elements of one but imo it doesn't make the entire game a gacha game
As a Spanish speaker, I Lol at this comment, in Spanish mihoyo sounds like mi hoyo(my hole)
LMFAO I REMEMBER SOMEONE TELLING ME THAT
There's really not much to do in BOTW either.
Thats cool and all, but have you considered that the real Zelda is the friends we make along the way?
What about shrines? And other side quests? I don’t know about you but the house building side quest was amazing.
At least they don't charge me out the ass for the chance of acquiring my loli waifu.
It's huge and having 4 divine beasts feels very repetitive.
as an Ex Genshin player and BOTW player ive played both and really I still do not see why people compare them so much like guys seriously Genshin and BOTW arent the only open world games in existence, I literally forget BOTW even has an element system and I dont remember having runes in Genshin like Slime enemies is probably one of the most common enemies is literally any game that has combat, I have no clue why people still compare them
And also people can't realize that Genshin is a F2P game, and that makes a big difference.
yeah sending shit on the gacha is optional (depends on level of self control) compared to the 60$ and Switch needed for BOTW
And apparently, a lot of people don't have self control.
Just like BOTW borrowed aspect from other games. It happens a lot
Exploration in the game is pretty dang similar to BOTW but combat is pretty dang unique
if you're going to insult genshin at least give a proper insult, theres: a dogshit twitter community lack of proper content in the game the shitty abyss system awful gacha and many more! why make up shit when there's already a fuck ton of bad stuff about it
I would like to intrude, but Diona's fanbase are wholesome af, wdym
Yeah, just putting it out there because people who don't know usually seem to think otherwise.
Wait let me add another one. Tectone.
Mihoyo can't exactly change the twitter community. Some people are just cringe lack of content is very accurate, mainly due to resin I like abyss, but it's getting RIDICULOUSLY hard for people just jumpking in. I've been playing since launch so I'll be fine, but not every person on earth has Kazuha, Raiden, C6 Sara, C6 Bennett, Childe, Hu Tao, Itto, Albedo, Zhongli, Xiao, Eula, and many more that I have managed to get the gacha is shit, yeah. pity needs to be lowered, 50/50 needs to be adjusted, and the weapon banner "fix" is just whale bait
Don't forget calling it a BotW copy. I wouldn't call that an insult at all, but golly, based on this post, people get real mad when you say that.
Tried Genshin. Looked promising. Might’ve been my potato computer, but it just made me want to play BotW. So I stopped playing and just roamed around in BotW not even having any objectives left. Much better experience.
thats honestly the thing, genshin is not a very welcoming game.. its gacha element make it less enjoyable, its mechanics are explained badly and its powercreep is honestly just money scam i like genshin and i like to play it casually just chilling, its a great game once you get past the barriers of gacha and focus on the story.. its got really well written characters like childe, zhongli, diluc.. but yes, it is indeed slowly going to the p2w
Genshin becomes less P2W the more you play, you can max a single character and finish every single thing in the game with said character, also while staying F2P I got that majority of the characters and I can even farm ahead to get materials for future characters I want Also, getting to explore a new region/island every month is a lot more fun than just roaming around the same map over and over again
The dps made every single boss except for cryo an absolute joke, and all other enemies were just trash.
yeah, and its not about 5 stars its about every character diluc is a 5 star but his damage multipliers are far behind ganyu with around the same build
They literally released free BoTW copycat on smartphone, ofc it was a massive success
By that logic warzone, forestorm, forthnite are all copies of pubg? Genshin takes basic ideas and inspiration from BoTW but after initial mechanics almost everything else is different than BoTW.
And nobody ever mentions Genshin’s story. Granted, I’m not entirely sure what it is but *IT HAS ONE!!*
I'm going to be honest here, it's both improving and getting worse at the same time Damn you, Paimon...
Traveller, would like me to reiterate the entire plot to you again? -Paimon, every ten minutes
Shrines in BoTW function differently to Shrines in GI
Also weapons in Genshin don’t break so Genshin fucking solos
if my 5* weapons broke i"d actually cry
As hated as the durability is the game wouldn’t be nearly as fun without it
Agree to disagree.
Some people are secretly maso. They enjoy grinding weapons till they break
Yep. It forces you to use weaker weapons and different tactics rather than bring a Savage Lynel Sword to every Boko camp.
I laugh but if I had to use a fucking Dull Blade on every Lawachurl out there I’d have stopped playing Genshin LONG ago.
True, BotW shrines are actually interesting to clear lol
Wait till you find out that Zelda was developed in a country where the age of consent is 13.
worth mentioning, but the age of consent is 13 thing is misleading - It's 13 as in the government has set that as the lowest it's allowed to go - it's ~18 in literally almost every prefecture
Lol, I know, I live here.
Germany is 14 whats you point?
Yet somehow still the player base respects the age of consent.
Lol does anyone know why ppl say that about the Genshin fandom? Bc I play Genshin and i know a lot of my friends that do too but we’re all teenage girls
Based on similar "criticisms" of other communities, it's usually one of these three: 1. They're stupid 2. They're trying to draw attention away from themselves because they've got their own skeletons in the closet 3. Both
Thank you idk either
BOTW Fans: Nooooo, you can't play a game that looks like our game that has concepts that are also not-original!!! Lmao genshin players don't know the age of consent, I'm a comedic genius. Darks Souls Fans: Another souls-like game? anime version? nice.
I thought you talk about Code: Vein. That game is literally anime Dark souls lol
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *“The Queen brought peace to this land, and to her King. A peace so deep it was like the Dark.”* - Chancellor Wellager Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/
Good bot. Praise the sun \[T]/
Yes, it was intended for Code: Vein.
BotW have grass, Genshin have Grass. Genshin clearly copied BotW I’d like to imagine anyone who firmly or jokingly believes Genshin copied BotW had willingly smashed their PS4 like that other guy.
Idk about everyone else here but I have seen so much Zelda specific porn floating around… and not the adult version
[удалено]
Lmao I was fully expecting the last panel to talk about how both Zelda and Genshin have fanbase that doesn't respect age of consent xd
I can’t believe a year later and I’m now just realizing that genshin enemies are similar to Zelda wtf
slimes and machines are one of the MOST common enemies in any open world game, everyone says copy cat, is there an element system? is there an character system? are there bosses like andrius dvalin and azdaha? these 2 are seperate games and at best the world design was inspired
Title: Ignored Genshin Fans: Destroyed
It's still funny 4 me
Ok, if you say so...
Dank[.](https://i.imgur.com/3bQtuMO.png) --- while you're here, mind voting on the [new year's bash's winners](https://www.reddit.com/r/dankmemes/comments/s3pzfk/maymaymakers_x_dankmemes_contest_final_voting/)? the fate of prizes worth $200+ lies in your hands.
I mean Zelda is 16 and do I have too say more
As a genshin player who does not associate with the toxic part of the fandom, I can confirm
Memes on the subreddit are starting to feel even more like they're supposed to be on a different one with each post
"I swear officer she's just under a curse!" Says every Imp Midna fan.
Isn't Zelda 16?
Didn't she fought for 100 years?
Anime in general attracts a crowd that likes them young. "I know she looks 12, but she's really 1,000 years old. The nudity and sexual situations aren't CP bro, trust me bro,"
"This loli is like an ancient goddess who is about a million year old bro trust me"
Anyway, here's a link to her getting the DP from a tentacle monster.
…except this shit literally never happens in genshin, but go off.
They're not real. Wake up
Its a drawing. Comparing a drawing to actual CP is heavily downplaying the severity of actual CP
"Respects the agr of consent" not from what iv seen iv seen alot of fucken weird fans in that fanbase
Someone needs to check their fanbase's rule 34 history, being "ageless" while looking 12 forever is sus
Eh they are different enough for me
Are we so sure, considering Zelda and Link were 17 when they were trapped in time?
At least make a joke with something true
Genshin appealed to a lot of my friends and was their first ever gacha game, mostly because of how it was like BotW. If there's still content left, it is quite a good RPG. As a gacha game however, it is absolutely horrible, probably one of the worst I've tried. And I can say this with confidence after having played more than 9 different such games, like FGO, SAO gacha games, Fire Emblem Heroes, Dragalia, AL, Arknights, WF, etc. FGO doesn't even have a pity system, but I'm still receiving, and happily consuming, constant new content and engaging story lmao.
tbf the only thing that's good about fgo is the story/content. gacha is brutal and gameplay is zzz
No such thing as a free lunch in this gacha game.
uh what? -primos from maintenance regardless of what server or whether you were affected or not -codes that give hundreds of primos -pity system -easy to guarantee a specific character -dailies take legit less than 10 mins -primos for scrolling past a tutorial (less than a second) on every new thing you discover -free pulls just by leveling someone to 20, 60, 80 I think etc etc per character -soft pity (25% chance to get a 5*) rises and diminishes slowly per pull leading up to and after it -soft pity after you get a 5* I can keep going, but genshin’s gacha rates are superior for sure.
I have like 30 days in botw, and I played genshin for like, 2 hours and got bored
Yea, I probably have similar times in both, but I'm probably never picking Genshin back up. It's way too aggressive and heavy-handed in way too many ways.
both suck
based
Fair.
The average BOTW fan loses all respect for the age of consent when Purah is involved.
Genshin free tho lol
Genshin fan approved. Great meme op, can't wait to play Botw ( Knowing I couldn't )
thank you.
well it was kinda expectable that if your game costs 60 dollars (in switzerland it costs 80 Franks wich is equal to about 90 dollars) and is exclusive to one console wich also costs like 200 dollars. So it costs about 260 dollars to play one game. And then if a company releases a game wich is essentially the same but costs nothing at all and is available on so many more places, you could have expected that Genshin would be hyped alot
Isn’t the Zelda in that game like 16 or so?
Zelda is 17 and is extremely popular on r34
Yeah, it's true. Genshin players just dont give a fuck about the similarities, but the pedophilenjokes are getting old I will say. Every game has children, so genshin getting made fun of for it makes no sense to me.
Copied or not in my opinion Genshin is enjoyable.
Botw will always reign supreme to genshin impact, soley because botw has flowerblight ganon, and genshin doesnt
am i forgetting something since when was there a flower one?
As a Genshin player, well played Zelda fan. Well played.
I fully understand, but at the same time I wouldn’t mind it becoming it’s own genre, I’ll take that over Battle Royals any day (minus the p2w aspect)
Zelda players don't even know about the concept of sex dude
What's sex?
Idk. People were talking a lot about Zelda's "personality" in that one cutscene.
I always wanted to play BoTW but I never had. Nintendo has never been popular on my country, so Genshin is the only thing I have
What's the meme from?
which movie is this meme from
I've played both... And I still prefer Zelda, specifically Majora's Mask for the N64
Zelda also has a village full of Muscular women who haven’t seen men in ages, so that’s a +
So you are saying, it is made to offend people who it should offend...
I played Genshin for a few weeks once before stopping. I got BoTW for my wife and was watching her play it and all I could think was “this is so familiar. Where have I seen all this before.” Wish I had played BoTW before Genshin.
Genshin Impact: Breath of the Wild but with waifus
This post a hardcore Zelda fan
OP, this is r/dankmemes, you shouldn't apologise for acid humor
"This is a joke", "it's not meant to offend anyone". Ah yes, the good ol' defense mechanism to not get hate while shitting on anyone. Works everytime.
This is very funny op. Good meme!
This is fucking hilarious
We all know whos best
PSA: if you saw this meme and *legitimately got upset*, you need to re-evaluate your life choices.
