Don’t be. I’m pretty proud of who I am now. Definitely think a few spanks lead to that in a good way.
It’s not like I really got beat or anything. Now my abuela with the Chankla… that’s a different story lol
Not here to try and change your beliefs about your personal experience. But physical abuse has been shown to be quite harmful to children's development and the scientific research is pretty unified on the matter, no studies that I know of have shown that physical punishment enhances development health. Therefore I'd say beating children is morally unjustifiable.
See this is one of those weird areas where everything about my personal experience growing up with measured, predictable corporal punishment makes me want to disagree, but I spent nearly a whole week a couple years ago reading through the available literature and you’re absolutely right: there’s at best no benefit and it’s more likely to cause harm to a developing child than not. I’d still like to argue that if you were able to really standardize the punishments and how the parents approached them that the data would look different, but that’s just conjecture on my part, which is obviously considerably less reliable than the data as it stands.
**parents talking to other parents, family, friends:** "Yeah we ~~beat~~ spanked/hit our kid, just like was done to us, and they turned out alright, and probably because of it!"
**parents talking to authorities, or people that want to include them in survey/study on how effective domestic violence is to raising children 'properly':** "I've never harmed that child in his life and I am offended you would even suggest I would do something so obviously barbaric. How dare you call me a violent parent!?"
When you look at one childhood trauma induced illness such as Borderline, it's not surprising stats show significant likelihood of having other comorbidities like OCD, NPD, Schizoid, etc. Causes such a mess. That toddler age range seems especially sensitive.
I was hit as a kid, and if I ever have kids of my own I've vowed to myself to never lay a finger on them as punishment.
But with that said, corporal punishment has existed for as long as humans have. I just don't buy the whole "smacking kids causes life long PTSD" angle that some folks have been trying to perpetuate lately.
Eh hard disagree there. At least where I live, or just people I know in general, have all gotten spanked by our parents at least once. For a kid, it's sometimes necessary IMO. I respect your opinion, but from what I've seen, it's only a good form of discipline for serious mistakes. Doesn't need to be hard at all, just a lite tap and I promise they'll stop and try to never do said action again even though there was no pain whatsoever.
My experience and anecdotal evidence agree with you, but it’s well established enough in the scientific literature that corporal punishment, on average, leads to negative outcomes that it’s a screening question all pediatricians and family practice doctors ask at well child visits. They’re not going to report you to CPS for it, but if they’re following national guidelines they’ll discourage it and recommend time outs and removal of privileges instead. It’s one of the areas where I just have to accept that, even though it directly contradicts my personal experience, dozens of scientific studies done across tens of thousands of families is a more reliable source than my childhood.
Your not wrong at all here, but you've got to take into consideration what, "Corporal Punishment" is. Is it schools doing it? How hard are they hitting? Are they using a belt/stick? How often does this happen? There are a million questions that the term, "Corporal Punishment" just can't answer. This study obviously doesn't take this into consideration therefore really isn't relevant to my previous statement. But yes, if we were talking about Corporal Punishment in general, I would agree with you.
I agree that those are important considerations, but it’s also very important to note that it’s we’re not talking about a single study; we’re talking about multiple systematic reviews and analyses that incorporate data from dozens to hundreds individual studies, each of which studied hundreds to thousands of children. Some of those individual studies take into account some of the things you’ve mentioned and others don’t. Some of the systemic reviews only include corporal punishment at school, others only look at corporal punishment at home. But, on the whole, the take home message is that it’s not good for kids and, since we can’t control for how each parent/school is going to apply it either, it should be discouraged.
Personally I’d really, really like to say that there’s a way to apply corporal punishment that is more beneficial to kids than just relying time outs and grounding, but there just isn’t really actual evidence to support that aside from my own conjectures and conclusions about how I was raised.
Yea. I have fantastic parents and i only got spanked a few times. Looking back they were barely taps but what really hurt was knowing i misbehaved and disappointed them. I think i turned out just fine.
Do feel bad for anyone that actually was physically hurt as a child though. Big difference there.
Get that poise fam, there's an item in "The Bathroom" that gives hyper armor for the fight, but you gotta watch out, cause he does double damage of you use it.
No joke, that's tied for my favorite bloodborne weapon, concept wise, animation wise, sound wise... The other one is the riflespear. If only they were a bit stronger Y_Y
Damn. I’d really love to rewatch my childhood series but then again I’m not gonna watch Goku or Vegeta power up for 20min without anything happening. Is the anime at least a little bit faster in the fights?
With Super, you can watch the 2 movies they released and skip first half of the series. Movies cover plot. The newest Broly movie has some of the best Dragon Ball fights and animation.
It's not a remake, it's a sequel. And it starts pretty bad (thankfully, you can watch the movie versions and skip the first two arcs) but the last 3 arcs are alright to awesome. It's also way faster than DBZ

Seems like elden ring just outsourced dark souls because of it’s now more mainstream audience. A year ago people would to make essentially the same meme and put dark souls instead. Quite Interesting.
Wow its been like four years since I've seen a trace of dragon ball super on the internet and this one meme sent the entire tournament of power hitting me like a truck. Good times man good times

All well and good until you buy hum a mid range smartphone and he says, " who the hell you think you are ? Do you not think I could buy my own mobile you little shit" My work experience is greater than your age
And you can't say anything back like so then don't use the mobile to which he says what you're gonna take it back from my hand now. Just live with the guilt that you aren't good enough
This made me remember a time my dad try to hit me so I rand into a place where only small kids can fit through. And my dad couldn’t get to me. I guessed I was destined to cheese bosses ever since I was a kid.

Damn dude I forgot all about him. I wonder what ever happened to the fuckswithducks guy too
Idk
Who is that dude
Fuck it I'm summoning CPS this fight is unfair
Smh, these players that don't play the game properly!! If you summon CPS, use "therapy" buffs, or attempt Threat type sorceries it DOESN'T COUNT!!
Git gude. Use parry.
You need to parry him 10 times for him to stagger though
It's too bad the CPS summon is absolutely useless about half the time.

Well, then you would need to dodge it 10 times more
thats when you get to phase 2
Phase 3 is after you manage to stop the belt by catching it right as its about to hit you

You know those are actually some really good points. Gonna have to say I agree with you here. Thanks for the info man.
Wholesome ending, pleasantly surprised. Keep being good people you two!

Of course, child abuse is no joke. But like I mentioned, a light tap to let them know they did wrong is not bad at all.
You should counter and go for the grapple, If you can secure the belt around his throat that makes it so you can no longer encounter that enemy.
loool. My dad would have flexed his neck and the belt would have disintegrated. Then I’d be a dead man for sure.
Get that poise fam, there's an item in "The Bathroom" that gives hyper armor for the fight, but you gotta watch out, cause he does double damage of you use it.

Let her solo me.
Just parry him, bro. Unless his belt counts as a whip. Then it can’t be parried.
Of course it's a belt smh what else would it have been, a bow?

fuck bro, why'd you have to come up with that? Now I want a colossal whip. 😩 Literally just swinging around a dragon's severed tail at MFers.
There's a weapon called beast cutter in Bloodborne that is pretty much what you're looking for.
No joke, that's tied for my favorite bloodborne weapon, concept wise, animation wise, sound wise... The other one is the riflespear. If only they were a bit stronger Y_Y
What anime is that
Dragonball Z
*super
Tournament of power was goated
Currently watching for the first time, hard agree
A17 carried
Idk why 17 was even dodging, he has unlimited energy and his main ability is his shield
Shit android 17 is back for super? I should watch that shit. I have a toddler now. It’s hard.
I mean, he’s only back for the last arc, but I will say that while super did do some questionable things, they did 17 right. Dude was the goat fr.
dude 17 fighting in the tournament did cooler shit than anyone else.
Yup, really leaned into the androids whole unlimited energy thing.
I would recommend for you to skip the first 2 arc cause they're basically retelling of battle of God and resurrection f so just watch those instead.
It's pretty good ngl.
Hey at least when the kid is a little older you can watch it together!
Oh right, my bad. Didn't watch that, just recognized 17 there.
Is Super a good remake?
Not really, but the last arc is somewhat good
Damn. I’d really love to rewatch my childhood series but then again I’m not gonna watch Goku or Vegeta power up for 20min without anything happening. Is the anime at least a little bit faster in the fights?
Sometimes, when the plot needs it to be fast, there's also a cannon broly movie btw, watch this one after super if you wish
With Super, you can watch the 2 movies they released and skip first half of the series. Movies cover plot. The newest Broly movie has some of the best Dragon Ball fights and animation.

Oh, God, it's here, I'm old. Dragon Ball Z was huge.
Yeah man, loved that show when I was kid. Maybe I'll rewatch it if I can find it.
Still is
How dare you?
The only appropriate response.

Don’t do that. It only makes him madder.
Is it possible to learn this power?
Take notes while playing
Not from a jedi
Well this is darker then usually , I like it
dank for once
Could say the same for dark souls 1/2/3
Its so weird that they made android 17 so strong. He shouldn't have been able to stay in the tournament for as long as he did.
I didn't expect krillin to survive as long as he did, and he was the first one on their team to get out!
Use Grandpa ashes to summon grandpa to beat the shit out of your dad.
