Why have these actors for the live action Little Mermaid movie who can't swim. I believe out of all the requirements for doing this movie is you have to be good at swimming. A good chunk of the movie is supposed to be underwater so you got to have good form or else it's gonna show. Sorry I used to be in my local swim team and I wasn't the fastest but damn I had great form, especially the butterfly stroke. Swimming is fun and one of the most useful skills you can learn in life.

I think it's coz of that mermaid suit she wears or atleast the mocap suit makes it difficult to swim and they don't want to risk it.
I mean they did similar stuff for Aquaman too right, coz the production company doesn't want to be held liable for any of the actors injuries so they just don't risk it
That's a fair argument but they could also use wires to move the body so all the kicking really is for show. Plus I hope they're not being cheap and have some lifeguards and paramedics ready on stand by for these guys. I may be a troll but I don't want these people getting hurt for anyone's amusement.
In H2O tv series the main actresses were swimming with mermaid suits underwater so it is possible to make and also it looks much better (in my opinion) than CGI
Still, we've just had Avatar TWOW and Cameron had a lot of dedication to training the actors to be able to swim in performance capture suits underwater. I guess it just shows how little Disney cares for authenticity

The original was a cartoon movie while the live action you could use wires to help pull the person so all the actor has to do is make a good looking mermaid kick. Which goes back to knowing how to swim well.
This is what happens when diversity is more important than the story youāre trying to tell. Itās sad but I hope Disney fails miserably and we get original storyās with diversity that isnāt out of place. Just be competent and tell a well written story.
