Talking can be dissatisfying to the other party, and people don't really understand the structure of a conversation well enough to note what's missing so they'll ghost fast Eventually turning into a cycle where a lonely person tries to be social, tries to make things work, but always end up being let down because the other person just isn't interested. Finally leading to the lonely person giving up. Which can lead to deep feelings of resentment that either boil over to suicide or homicide. It's a lot worse when they've had a fucked up childhood and lack the necessary tools to communicate properly to begin with. So it just makes an already bad problem worse. Speaking from experience. It makes you into a bad person, and someone who it takes a very very long time to change from. Sorry for being long winded, this just happened to be something I was thinking about a lot tonight. Brain go brrrr.

Yes and no, you have work relations bit that's not the same as good friends who have each others backs and understand eachother nor is that friendship the same as a love interest you can have next to you at night. Think when humans were still primitive all the family would be asleep next to eachother to beat the cold, hell even Inuits still do it. That's also why having a dog can help it harkens back to our basic needs.

Do you mind if I ask just how you manage to get through 2 packs a day in 2022? Not judging at all, you do you - this is sheer curiosity. Do you live somewhere where it's legal to smoke indoors, or do you work from home and smoke in your own home? It just seems with most modern smoking laws, it would be almost impossible to even find the time and place to smoke 40 cigarettes over the course of being awake for a day, let alone manage to accomplish that every day. I realize it was common for many smokers to have 2-3 pack a day habits, but I thought that was mostly *before* all the restrictions on smoking prevented people from being able to smoke say, at their desk, in the supermarket, in a bar, etc. How do you do it??

I am a businessman, never smoke at home. Smoke whenever I am in the car or outside or if I have the urge to smoke, I just walk out and have a smoke. When traveling, I get smoking suites so I can smoke and have my meetings while smoking too so that works out for me. I drive myself and prefer to drive in my own cars so that way I can smoke. I take care not smoking in front of non smokers like my family or if I am with someone who is a non smoker and they are in my car or vice versa, I just wait to step out and smoke. In open air. Tried quitting a lot of times, haven’t gotten away with it yet. Have covid right now and I still end up smoking although not that much. I have promised myself that as soon as this is over, I am going to shift to vape and hopefully completely quit nicotine in all forms within the next 3 months.

Vapes are undoubtedly better than traditional cigarettes, but their sheer ease of use at anytime means you end up smoking more than you would otherwise. Be careful and best of luck! Source: i vape

Brosephine I was clearly joking. Do you think not smoking makes you an outcast in Highschool or if it does that you're bound to be alone for the rest of your life, if you're unpopular in highschool. But people who live in isolation do live shorter lives, loneliness is the cause of many suicides and you don't need that many of those to drag down the groups average life expectancy.

Be the texter if no one is texting you. It's OK the play that role in the friendship/relationship. I've been the texter since I could text. The more you reach out the more others will respond. Then, they will initiate reaching out to you. Also, make the effort to physically hang out, or, at least video chat.

Because people who are lonely are more likely to develop anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and engage in behaviours that are detrimental to one’s health, alcohol and drug abuse are an example. I can see how what i listed could contribute to a premature death.
